OK inside .but run down in garden area plant pots neglected, not a place to wish to spend time in sorry

I ordered Sunday Roasts to be delivered. I was really pleased. The meals are outstanding, and plentiful. I would thoroughly recommend. I will order again, regularly.

Just a short note in response to post from High Horizons. My son who is Autistic and has Learning difficulties has been going to the Trooper for years and is always greeted with a smile and a very warm welcome and always given the time and patience required. I have also witnessed other families with young adults who clearly have additional needs that are treated in the same way.

Wow! Me and my partner were genuinely so impressed. Lynn the Landlady was astonishing, and made us the most incredible grub at a decent price. Friendly, calm and welcoming atmosphere... you don't get pubs like these anymore. Highly recommend and will be visiting again. If only I could provide more stars!

Good Sunday lunch very friendly staff hot tea coffee

Was greeted in this pub by a rude woman who made it very clear that the fact I was with someone with additional needs was NOT welcome in her facilities. She pulled a face at us, and outlined that “it’s not a problem… just.. “ couldn’t quite bring herself to say what the problem was but it was very clear. Terrible, upsetting, and incredibly disappointing in this modern age. Avoid.

We were greeted with a lovely smile and welcome. I informed them that I had booked and was shown my table. We ordered drinks and our meal and sat down. In less than 15 minutes we were served. The meal was lovely and hot as were the plates, and the meal, (standard not large) was more than plentiful. It was gorgeous. I would really recommend people to visit for their Sunday lunch. Make sure you phone in advance to book your table.

Following My last review I did call back in, the real ales were Doombar or Doombar, bumped into an old neighbour from Nevalan Drive (local) it seems that the landlady's attitude to customers still prevails, not in a good way (the zip across the throat springs to mind) In closing please ask your delivery driver not to cut up other road users, if he does it to Me again I'll not be best pleased.

My partner and I had a lovely time there and our meal was fine, host lovely lady x

Came here on a Friday night 2 years ago with my other half, visiting from London. Very well-kept, quiet pub with several good beers on tap. All the locals were lovely, extremely chatty and friendly, and I will come again next time we are visiting family in the area.

A good old pub lunch and lots of it great value for money will call in again next time I'm in the area 👍

Very good food plenty of space Inc beer garden ,managed to finish our meal before downpour , very good food ,filled me up nicely,very generous portions ,very accommodating landlady and landlord ,would recommend this pub and definitely will return with walk group

Roast dinner take away on Sunday lunch

Popped in for lunch whilst in the area. Food was cooked fresh and was piping hot. Good selection of daily specials as well as a traditional pub menu Good portion sizes and good value for money. Good honest food

We had Sunday roast delivered plenty of it but whole cabbage leaves it hadn’t even been shredded gravy watery & Swede could have been cooked have had 10 more minutes & been mashed peas carrots chicken tasty

Have always had great food here especially the Sunday lunches Always found the staff and lynne very friendly and welcoming.Its our local although we don't use often when we do its always enjoyable.

We went in for Sunday lunch not booked in but were made welcome. The food was wonderful.

Have just got round to trying this place. Popped in last Sunday to see if they could squeeze us in for lunch and they did, the beef Sunday roast was amazing and great value for money! It was so nice we tried again today, they were fully booked but instead we ordered a takeaway and a drink while we waited. Again, absolutely lovely!

Called up to order some roast dinners to be delivered and was told they were too busy, my call was at 1.30pm so hardly that late in the day and I wouldn't of minded if it had taken a few hours but i was also told there wouldn't be enough food for the people who come into the pub, why are they more important customers? Shocking service, will never order again because of this, it's a shame because ate here before and it was nice but terrible service and quite disgusted yo be turned away as my partner is I'll and I'm not really a good cook and we needed to feed the kids. After this i wouldn't reccomend ggw trooper to anyone

We just moved to the area and we wanted to visit the new local bar. Super disappointed with the costumer service. First time I felt uncomfortable and they literally make us leave. The lost a costumer and a sale.

Ordered Sunday roast for the first time today and would definitely recommend. They do a wide selection of meat, we had turkey and beef. The portion was very generous and is delivered cooked, but chilled. Pop it the microwave for a few minutes add the gravy, included in a pot, and voila! The gentleman who dealt with us was very pleasant and delivered it fast. Would order again.

I would give them 10 stars if I could, Lynne cooked and delivered 18 Christmas lunches all around Bristol at short notice as we had to cancel our Christmas lunch due to Covid. What an absolute super star and it was absolutely delicious to match. Would highly recommend these guys x

First time I ordered a roast to be delivered Sunday, wow! It was delicious. The beef so soft to eat and what a serving of roast potatoes.veg, yorkshire pud. parsnips even sprouts. Couldn’t fault it . Definately be having deliveries again from The Trooper.

A nice quiet "local" with a good selection of ales and ciders. The staff were friendly and polite. Definitely a pub I will be going back to again and again.

My sister and I paid for my mum and aunt to go to The Trooper pub for an Afternoon Tea for my mums birthday and Wow we're we all impressed (See pics attached and this was after they'd eaten as much as they could whilst they were there). I've been asked by my mum to leave a review as they thoroughly enjoyed themselves, with great food, very friendly staff and lovely surroundings. Thank you very much Lynne for going the extra mile and meeting their dietary choices and making sure they had a wonderful time! Definitely recommend 👍

Firstly, had to book beforehand and felt very safe under the health restrictions. Table service (obviously, due to restrictions). Lovely staff, excellent service. Fabulous food, very good value for money. Good choice for vegetarians.

Hi just had the most fantastic Sunday roast, the best in Bristol for valuef for money all home cooked veg , the beef was delicious cooked too perfection, thanks to all at the troopers pub

We ordered 10 afternoons teas for my Dads 60th Birthday, they were absolutely outstanding, very delicious and will 100% recommend and we will be ordering again, thank you very much.

We have had our third Sunday lunch to day and I must say it's by far the best three Sunday lunches we have ever had says something for my cooking 😁 well done to the trooper thankyou from the summerills

Excellent home cooked food Great carvery, & a very good friendly service .

I was told of how good this carvery was from a friend and so had to try it. I was not disappointed! The food is always delicious and really feels like its home cooked unlike a lot of the big restaurant style carveries you get. I regularly order to get it delivered and the portion sizes are amazing! The gravy is always perfect and being a northerner it is essential. You can choose a choice of meats and Yorkshire followed by helping yourself to lots of freshly cooked veg which is brought out throughout the serving. The staff have always been helpful and even managed to fit myself and my family in last minute which was massively appreciated! This place is a must try but make sure you book early to get a spot!

Sunday lunch in lockdown-The Trooper have seriously got this nailed! Many thanks for squeezing an extra couple of roasts out today. Looking forward to more delicious dinners in the future. If you're thinking of trying it though, book before Saturday to avoid disappointment!

If you want good home cooked food delivered the trooper is the best place to go, we have Sunday lunch delivered and at a great price so give it go

Excellent quality meals. Covid aware establishment. Never had a below par meal in the 4 years of using them. Welcoming and friendly owners and staff. This was Cumberland sausages, mash, peas, onion rings and gravy. Scrummy meals at affordable prices. Our ONLY eat out venue. Cannot fault the place. The Trooper is a place where you can get great homecooked meals that are a little bit extra special. Highly recommended public house. 5⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Brilliant night covid ready but not over the top would definitely go again

We ordered at short notice and were lucky that the Trooper were able to cater for us. The meals arrived promptly and simply needed re-heating in the microwave. The food was very good indeed and was a generous portion. I had beef, which was plentiful, tender and delicious. My daughter had turkey, which was equally lovely. My wife had a vegetarian option, which she said was as nice as she has had anywhere. A big thumbs up to the Trooper.

Love this, it is a great local pub and the landlords are great too. And their food is amazing too .... bonus

Booked a table for a Sunday Carvery with family. We all enjoyed the food, was plentiful with a good choice of veg. Only thing we didn't like was the table we were allocated as very small.

Went there on Sunday to get a roast dinner for my mother. Had it as a takeaway it was fantastic mother was really pleased I will coming back again for sure. Its also a great ideal having a pot of gravy so it doesn't get spilt all over the car on the journey home. Thanks again Delboy
