I've been to this pub a few times before and usually it is fairly decent. However, on this occasion it was horrific and I would recommend that you do not visit this pub, ever. We attended on a night which coincided with the England national team playing a football match and a large number or youthful persons were in attendance. As you know, sometimes these sort of things can get out of hand and in this case it did. A certain group of people managed to smash a number of glasses and light bulbs when England scored, which understandably left the landlord very upset. However, the way in which the landlord handled this was nothing short of a disgrace. First, he accused the wrong group of people of smashing the bulbs and then he proceeded to hit drinks out members of the group's hands in light of their protests at being wrongly blamed for the damage caused at the pub. After this, the landlord proceeded to physically assault a customer with his friends with punches being thrown at a person much smaller and much weaker than himself. This pub is ran by a man who is highly volatile, and in my opinion, should not be in charge of a pub. I would never visit this pub again after seeing the actions of the landlord and his friends. I will add that the other members of staff acted admirably in this situation, but the same cannot be said for their boss.

Had a coffee & toasted sandwich here. Coffee was really good. Very nice cheese with caramelised onion toasty which was good.

Nice pub and good beer selection, could do with a little bit of background music as it can feel very quiet and as though everyone is listening in

I’ve been coming here with my friend who is a local for about 7 years, but unfortunately this will be my last visit sadly. The coffee and cake is decent enough, though I think the options are limited given that only a couple of cakes aren’t vegan or gluten free labelled. Not to mention a cupcake cost £3.95 and is more expensive than a slice of cake. That aside, it’s now gone from a coffee shop renowned for its freak shakes, into a Chinese restaurant. When we arrived the place was full of people ordering Chinese, and when you are having coffee you don’t really want the strong smell of Chinese wafting near you. And it is very overpowering. I think you are either a coffee shop or a Chinese restaurant, utterly bizarre concept. And on a Sunday, we had to be seated at a low table as all the tables were filled up at 1:30 which has never been the case when I’ve visited previously, but obviously it’s very popular for its Chinese dishes now rather than its freakshakes and coffee.

We were out walking on a Friday afternoon and scurried into this community café because it had started to rain. We had dressed for moderately wet weather, but the wind was in our faces and thus better avoided. Besides the chance to have a sit-down, and a coffee, was too good to ignore. The community café here in Lyde Green is housed in the community centre and, being well-after lunch-time, it was not too busy. We ordered two medium sized Americano Coffee’s with hot milk from the pleasant waitress at the servery. The coffee arrived promptly and it was acceptably hot, but sadly it was not very strong. It lacked the rich bitter flavours that we particularly like when we have a coffee out. The cost was £2.75 per medium-sized cup, so it was about the going rate, but other local cafés provide a better, and stronger, cup of coffee.

Great service and sensibly priced cocktails. A hidden gem for a pre- dinner drink
