The Toby in Charnwood

I had booked us in for breakfast at 10.30am but there was no table reserved for us and we were told to sit where we liked, the only table available for the 3 of us being one covered in dirty plates and cups. Whilst I cleared the table the other 2 went to the buffet, returning with partial breakfasts…no eggs, no black pudding and over cooked bacon. By the time I got there the bacon was gone and there was now no sausage or even a plate to put anything on. When someone finally emerged from the kitchen I asked for a plate and was told more food was being cooked and would be 2 minutes so I waited to then be told it would be another 5 minutes. I decided to sit back down at this point so I could at least catch up with my family as they finished their food. On returning to the buffet some freshly cooked eggs were brought out but I was told the sausage / bacon would be another 2 mins….the sausages finally arrived but still no sign of the bacon, given that there were by now only a couple of eggs left as they were largely being used by one of the chefs to fill takeaway bags I decided to start putting what food there was on my plate until the bacon finally arrived! The rest of my family then got to watch me eat….. The staff were working flat out but there weren’t enough of them and to be honest even when the food did arrive it wasn’t great…. It’s a shame because this is a really handy venue to meet up with our son but we won’t be back.

There were a small group of us that met here for a breakfast from our company to say thank you & have a catch up. The staff were friendly and helpful and welcoming.the buffet breakfast was very nice,tasty well presented and cooked to perfection.The coffee was very good as well,I had the filter coffee from the jug not the machine. You do have to put in your car registration number,don’t forget to do that otherwise you will get a ticket.

Breakfast Buffett for £6.99 was unbeatable. Everything was very well cooked. Some said the sausages and hash browns were over cooked but we liked them well done. There was a very wide choice of items, even large Yorkshire puddings and gravy! I ordered the free refill filter coffee for £2.40 which was very nice and also very cheap. If you leave here unsatisfied then there is something wrong with you! Some things could be improved. Some areas of seating were cordoned off and the front of house staff could have been more welcoming...but for under £7 it has to have 5 Stars!

Saturday lunchtime carvery with family. Lovely cosy atmosphere. Friendly welcoming staff. Shivani served us and she was lovely and she smiled (not all staff think to do this). The food selection was the best I’ve seen for years. Tender beef, turkey and gammon, sausage. Huge yorkshire puddings. Wide choice of vegetables, cauliflower cheese and even macaroni cheese. Chefs very pleasant too. We will definitely return …. hopefully soon. Very good value for money. Around £80 including drinks for 5 of us.

Our family visited the toby carvery in Loughborough yesterday 10/10/24 I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the absolutely lovely waiter named Charlie Clayton. We were with our grandson who was rather unsettled... but charlie took time to interact with our grandson, which helped us to enjoy our meal. What an absolutely delightful guy, an absolute credit to the company. And to his family! Thank you!

Another lovely afternoon meal with family at the toby carvery. This time we had someone in the group who had a specific allergy to eggs, everything was double checked before being served 👍👍 We were looked after from start to finish by Emma as always nothing was too much trouble and perfect service with a smile

Had the yorkie wraps served with roast potatos. The meat was dry and the roasties were so hard they flew off the table when I tried to cut them. I wasn't asked at any point how my meal was. We waited 20minutes after ordering drinks before anyone came to take our food order. I wonder if there's been a change in management as this is the second poor experience here so I don't think we'll return

Just returned from a Friday Breakfast here.. arrived about 10am to a busy pub. Never had breakfast before but after visiting a different Toby whilst on holiday and reading about their breakfast I had to try it! Excellent value with plenty of choice. Food all hot, Sausages tasty, decent bacon, eggs, mushrooms, nice potato bake thing and unlimited toast! All washed down with their signature gravy! lol! Was actually very good. Fruit juice not included but actually I opted for their unlimited soft drink machine anyway. Only disappointing thing was there was no Yorkshire puddings! Wasn’t sure if you had to ask or not. Not clear although menu did say they have them? Was quite looking forward to a roast onion Yorkshire pudding for my breakfast! I know it sounds strange but apparently it’s normal here. A shame it wasn’t available. Overall - I’m definitely going to return! The bar man was great too. Perhaps could do with a few more tables for 1 or 2, as noticed all in the breakfast area were mostly set for 4+..

Just had a really tasty roast from the carvery and a lovely rice pudding with jam, washed down with unlimited diet Pepsi. Marvellous value, and great service.

Nice warm food, good choice of food for the Carvery. Staff are friendly and kind. Please take away the butt tubs either side of the front doors it is rather off putting and gives the wrong impression.

Hadn't been out for Sunday lunch for a while so went on personal recommendation. Very enjoyable. Food was good and service was excellent. Will be back.

We went for breakfast and it was lovely! Our server emma was very attentive and looked after us well very chatty will definitely be back!

Staff very friendly and worked hard to look after us. Premises in need of a little TLC. While we had booked, we had a very long wait in the carvery queue. Cannot fault the veggie selection. While lamb was advertised, there was none as it was not ready! Beef was riddled with gristle and was bits and pieces - not slices. While you can choose three meats, if you only pick one then you only get two pieces! As we left I checked and there was still no sign of the lamb!

Been here many times in the past and never had a bad experience, but today was a different story. Greeted quickly at the door, me and my elderly mother were taken to a pre booked table that was, for want of better wording, out of the way....... Not an issue, but it did seem we were forgotten after the initial seating and drinks orders were taken. We proceeded to the carvery which, as usual, was good ....... Apart from my mum was given what can only be described as the dry ends of the meat, which were really hard and so she couldn't actually eat much of it. When we'd finished we sat for over 20 minutes, trying to get the attention of someone, until our plates were cleared, which would be more understandable if the place was busy, it wasn't, so really no excuse (I go back to my previous "out of the way" table comment) it does seem we were forgotten! Desserts came and they were good, but honestly it wasn't a good experience, and as such we won't be returning any time soon.

Greeted very politely by a waitress on arrival, she introduced herself ( Sarah) she and explained the process. Drink ordered and I went up for af large carvery. Two large Yorkshires, sausage and I asked for the well cooked parts of the joint of beef. Holly were carving the meat today and what a great job she did as well. A very polite, bubbly lady. Lots of lovely roast spuds, pease, carrots cauliflower cheese, beautiful mash. Holly sent me around the corner for beautiful gravy, mint sauce, apple sauce and the mind blowing mustard. What a really nice dinner and it were on an offer day for £6. If you want a great meal and lovely staff to welcome and look after you, come here. 😎👍

I just wanted to say I massive thank you to the team at Toby carvery today .... it was phenomenal and really professional, the lady at the host point really lovely and welcomed us with a smile and explained everything to us after being so long away from coming out for a meal again ! the service was fantastic are waitress Sophie was fabulous! wasn’t to slow or quick just great ! I really know how hard it is to run a business in hospitality and as for the first day could be more happy and can I just say I will definitely be returning onwards and upwards!! Thank you ...!!!

While the food is good and tasty the ambiance & atmosphere is poor as I have never seen more than about 25% of the restaurant filled. This must speak volumes about how local people really feel about it.The "back room" service is appalling. After holding my festive booking for more than a month they suddenly decided to spitefully cancel it under a week before the event when they know it will be impossible to rebook anywhere professional for a special meal.As they are never more than a third full then this discrimination against single person bookings does them no favours.It's funny how they sent me a discount voucher to use for this booking but now decided to cancel the meal. Left hand & right hand are not communicating. They are absolutely clueless.

We've been coming to Toby inn in Loughborough for some years and have always been met with smile. Breakfasts are a delight and a plentiful for the price The staff during this covid 19 epidemic have worked hard to keep agood standard of service..

I just wanted to say how amazing it felt to return back to a Toby Carvery and to not cook a roast dinner at home for a change. The staff were really kind and our waitress Louisa gave us excellent customer service with a lovely smile. Nothing was ever too much trouble for her and overall it was a great experience. I will defiantly be returning!

In these current times, Toby has done well with a lot of changes. I understand wearing masks, I understand having the chefs plate your food, but what confused us is the chef then passing the plate to the waitress who then walks with you back to the table... It seems like an unnecessary task which adds more pressure to the waiting staff. The waitress was younger than me, but I felt like a child not being able to walk with my own plate! There is no need for such a thing.Other than that, it was lovely as usual :)

Good food, well priced and excellent service. Staff well mannered and happy to serve and help, bar staff, catering and waiters. Good was decent quality and enjoyable.

We came out for a Sunday roast and we all know with the current situation things are difficult with Covid. I didn’t feel safe at all, all the tables and chairs were all in the same place no dividers inbetween. The only difference is that you tell them what you would like from the carvery and it is slopped on your plate like a school dinner very unappetising. We ordered sundaes for pudding they were not what the description on the menu said no Cadbury’s crunchy bar, no cadburys flake and no fresh cream just ice cream and chocolate sauce and chewy hard lumps of I’m not sure what?? not special or nice. The only good part was the waitress Danielle was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. We won’t be returning in a hurry.

Went for Sunday lunch. Can’t praise this Toby up enough. Felt very safe with the COVID precautions very hygienic. All table service. The food was excellent and the staff were cheerful and obliging. You now select what you want from a menu and the food is brought to your table. Excellent.

i want to thank all that staff at toby you were all excellent, the new restrictions in place are great , great social distancing .. but i want to give a massive thank you to sophie i believe which was doing the carvery as i was told by are waitress a thank you , i could see she was stressed but professional making sure the food was correct before taking out to customers. we were sat in a big booth near carvery and i could see her very move and she was amazing... we didnt even wait long for are food in must of been no more than 10 mins and we had are food so thank you to her. and last of all a thank you to the lovely lady on the door she was very friendly.

The young lady today on the food service making sure carveries were going out was quick We waited not even 10 minutes and the food was at our tables She was fantastic!! Definitely coming again

Went in with family and seated slightly before booking time which was good but 4 tables crammed into one area to make it easier for staff but not the right attitude with all the restrictions currently in place to the point one couple asked outright why we were all together and even moved table themselves. Ordering food was ticking boxes on a form for carvery options, this was mostly correct and when we asked our server about the slight mistake she quickly got us the the correct items on the side. Service was a bit slow for the amount of people in the restaurant and meat etc on carvery a bit fatty and not a lot there but get what you pay for I guess. When tried paying the bill it took me about 15 minutes to get anyone’s attention to pay as your not supposed to get up and walk about so maybe someone needs to check more regularly. Also no locks on disabled toilet door as we wanted to change our daughter and people using it instead of the toilets they should use a few steps away which isn’t staffs fault but maybe upgrade and get one that opens with a radar keycard like a lot of public toilets already use

I would like to congratulate all the staff in the Toby Carvery in Loughborough. My wife and I take a very good friend there every Saturday for dinner. Its changed alot while this pandemic is on, like everywhere has. But all the staff still make us very welcome, and look after us all, nothing is to much trouble for them. And I would recommend it to anyone.SO THANKS TO THE TOBY AND ALL ITS STAFF.

Visited the Toby carvery on Friday evening, was greeted by a gentleman at the door who explained how the new restaurant rules introduced to the restaurant regarding covid-19 to keep everyone safe worked. We then had 4 lovely carvery s and puddings. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. Will be back soon guys

From start to finish I knew we were safe and the restaurant was covid secure and everything we needed was brought to us and service was exceptional

Our first time eating out since lockdown. Felt very safe with lots of social distancing measures in place. Great food, warm and friendly team and a lovely atmosphere throughout the restaurant. Highly recommend and we will certainly be dining with you again in the very near future.

I’m only writing this review because of our waitress called Danielle. Danielle was absolutely amazing and was perfect looking after us. Everyone on our table has complimented on how well she looked after us and we can honestly say that she was brilliant! Food was perfect as well! Cannot complain about anything!

Mediocre at best, wouldnt go again, no pork available only meat I can eat very limited desserts only 3 available so l left disappointed nuff said.

Had lunch with my granddaughter and daughter but food was very dried up from the meat to the veg only thing was not dry was Yorkshire pudding and coliflower cheese Service good but price starting to creep up and not really getting good value for money now especially if you eating poor food

We were greeted at the door and asked to sanitise our hands while our table was being cleaned down ready. A polite, friendly young man called Stephen ran us through all the new safety measures and seated us a safe distance from the next table. A lovely lady called Lynn then took over and looked after us until we left. The whole process was calm, clean and controlled. Our veg etc was served to us as well as the usual meat service and the literal giant of a gentleman was kind enough to dig through the roasties to find all the best overdone ones that noone else in their right mind would want for my hubby who wont eat anything that he declares is anaemic, and didnt bat an eyelid at his lack of any real vegetable choices either. The whole experience was a pleasure and as our first venture at an evening out for 5 months we felt safe and reassured the whole time. Well done to all the team.

This was my first carvery after lockdown so was looking forward to it very much ! The only thing that has changed is that you are no longer allowed to serve your own vegetables, which isn’t a problem. Staff were friendly and accommodating My only concern & this is my fault partially we’d chosen to visit this carvery when it was very hot. It was a shame that the restaurant did not have AC. A shame because it was extremely hot in the dining room! 6/10!

Went here for my daughters birthday! The waitress kept getting the order wrong so daughter never git her chicken burger she ended up with meat balls.I had carvery and the server literally plonked all the food in a pile on the plate i hate mixed up food. When we got home every one had a bad tummy and my friend pood herself!

I have told the young lady but I wanted to put this on there because I think this waitress was fantastic ! Absolutely fantastic, she was professional, quick , had a lovely chat with her !! Made us feel as ease ! Great social distance with us I couldn’t fault her one bit , I have been here a few times and haven’t had the best experience with your staff but this young lady was amazing definitely got a career in her I think !!! Anyone wanting a roast this waitress is fantastic and definitely will want her as a waitress again !!!

It has been a while since I enjoyed the company of my family whilst having a meal out. Despite having reservations I have to say that the one way system is very well thought out. The restaurant is ran well and staff and team are extremely helpful and informative.My mind is firmly at ease that I can still enjoy a carvery despite the situation.In particular Danielle went above and beyond to ensure my family and I had a good time and could not be faulted at all. A real asset to the chain.

This is our first meal out since lockdown. Fantastic meal and the service was excellent. Wanted a bigger table to accommodate two other members of our family but because of social distancing there’s not so many spaces available.

The staff at Toby's Loughborough have made great efforts to make the dining experience during covid safe as possible. The food is fresh and tasty and excellent value for money. The staff are pleasant and helpful. This is a great place to eat for all family members and very healthy if you choose those green things grown in the ground.

I ordered a takeaway to collect at an allocated time slot. It said on the info to arrive on time and not early to make sure it remained covid safe for other collections. I had to wait 30 mins for my order to be brought out, why tell me to arrive on time for my collection if it's not going to be ready on time? I had ordered a collection as I'm not yet comfortable with dining in due to covid, however I may as well have stayed in to eat due to my wait time. I am giving a 3 star rating though as the food was tasty and generous portions, just disappointing about the wait time.

Booked a table here with my partner and two of our friends. Lovely young girl with blondish hair served us and looked after us perfectly. Unsure what her name was but she did her job without any fault.All four of us had the carvery and it was delicious. Only fault I have is the Yorkshire pudding was like cardboard but I think that was due to it being under the heat lamp and the hot weather that day. But they gave me a nicer one without any hesitation. Decor is lovely and Covid rules set out without any confusion.Was a lovely meal and we will definitely be having another meal here in the future!

Having read some reviews from people moaning about not being able to serve themselves etc. I visited this pub again with a friend, first time since lockdown. Still amazing food, still amazing portions, still amazing staff. Cracking beer garden as well. Keep up the good work!

This was our first meal and visit to this Toby Carvery and considering its only just opened back up due to the pandemic, it was really good. The staff were lovely and very welcoming and the food was very nice too. We both had the carvery, which the server will put the food you like on the plate for you and then the staff will bring you your cutlery to you once your sat back down. We would happily visit here again

My family and I were very partial to a toby carvery before lockdown. We had missed our regular carvery so we booked our table for Sunday the 5th. We expected it to be as busy as before lockdown however as soon as we walked through the door we instantly felt at ease and we could tell the business was observing social distancing. We were welcomed by a lovely Scottish lady who explained all the changes to my family and I. I believe her to be the manager. We had a lovely young pretty girl as our server I didn’t get her name unfortunately, our table was towards the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. She was very good towards our two young children and to us. She promptly took our drinks order and explained to us the correct way to walk up to the carvery. The two chefs standing at the carvery deck were so polite and piled my husbands plate high as he usually would doing it himself! Overall amazing service, fantastic food and very safe tidy and clean atmosphere. Thank you Toby Carvery Loughborough and my family and I will definitely be returning.

I went to your Loughborough branch yesterday after ordering a takeaway through the Toby App. When I arrived I was notified their ticketing Machine was not working so I confirmed my order to them and waited.I had my nearly 2 yr old with me.I was given my food and left. When I got home I did not have any roast potatoes (although it was requested on my order) I had no Yorkshire pudding (again it was requested), My son was given two cocktail sausages and not the normal ones that would come with that meal.I call the restaurant and spoke to such a lovely Lady called Danielle. I told her my issues and she apologised and said she would look into what they can do, she did offer for someone to come and drop the missing items off but by the time they arrive my Son will be in bed and I’d of eaten my dinner.Later that night Danielle called back like she said she would and offered a refund for the items that were missing.Although the kitchen staff lacked service and rushed through the order (they were not busy at the time I arrived so why they rushed I don’t know), the restaurant made up for by the service Danielle gave.She not only helped solve my issue but she was also very pleasant with my son when we went in to collect the food and had to wait.They only reason I will re order or go back is because the service she gave and nothing else.Thank you Danielle :)

Food was delicious. Khloe was our waitress for our meal and was very friendly and attentive through out. The tables were spread out with hand sanitizers throughout. Would thoroughly recommend as have social distancing covered.

I came today with my husband, and as usual the food and service was amazing! The lady on the door was so polite, and gave us everything that we needed to know, in terms of how the Carvery worked, and the changes with tables. I think her name was danni? The food was absolutely lovely! Defiantly worth the months waiting for a Carvery. We were so glad that we came, and can see that although it’s changed for safety, they still care for us as customers. We will be back soon!

we always used to go at least once a week before lockdown, so I couldn't wait to go back after they announced reopening! We went as a group of 3 on Saturday and couldn't be more impressed! Hand sanitizer was there the moment you walk in, which you were asked to use. The lady that was on the door, the Scottish lady who I believe to be the manager is a Saint! She must of said the same speak 100 times that day but still had a smile on her face, she's always so nice to us! After getting up to the carvery everything has to be place on your plate for you due to the new rules, but its not an issue you can still see how high you can stack your plate with as much as you want, they never use the same plate or glass twice everything is changed for you as well, overall a great visit! And can't wait to go back soon!

Came to the Toby Carvery on Sunday for a Sunday lunch, the service was next to none, drinks promptly taken, and everything was explained to us, as we had never been here before. :) This Toby serves lamb on a Sunday, and what a treat!! The only thing I would change would be the wait on the pigs in blankets that we had ordered, took a good 5-10 mins after we had got our Carvery to receive them...this could be solved with a little more communication to the guests. :( However, we caught that they had to close the business early due to a boiler issue and having a lack of water, which in my opinion was handled quite well, well done to the Toby Carvery. We will be returning when we visit Loughborough again.

Visited on sat march 7th for the first time as we visited our daughter at uni .We booked a table in advance which I'm glad as it was busy .We all ordered the carvery and have no complaints plenty of meat to go round and the guy who was serving the carvery was very friendly all the food was excellent will certainly return if in the area again .

This restaurant was not very busy but 3 of the party had the carvery and had to wait nearly ten minutes for their meat to be carved. I, the fourth member, had ordered the Hunter’s Gammon Yorkshire wrap with green salad. The carvery eaters were halfway through their meals with no sign of mine. I asked the waitress where my meal was, she set off for the kitchen and appeared ten minutes later with no apology or reason for the delay. I realised the salad was not dressed so again set off to look for some dressing or mayonnaise. There was none available at the gravy/ sauce station so I asked the waitress if they had any and again off she went and appeared some minutes later and I quote “I’ve managed to find some mayonnaise” as if it were the holy grail.All four of us agreed that the quality of the food and the service had dropped significantly since our last visit. Although the prices are reasonable the poor quality of the food and the service make it a destination to avoid.Not once were we asked if everything with our meals was okay.

I tried going to Tobys for the first time in my life. Paid 8.99 for buffet and something for drink so a bit over 10 pound. You cannot cut meat by yourself. Got 4 skinny slices of pork, potatoes and some sauce with it.., ate it and tried taking more. The Chef told me you can have meat only once. So what am I supposed to eat the rest with? Should have bought a kebab, didnt know about this funny rule. As a first comer I had no idea and no one told me to tell the guy to give me all the meats to try straight away..

Went to this Toby carvery with my family on 9/03/2020 at about 6pm. On arrival was told a 40minute wait because they were fully booked so we brought a drink and waited, 5 minutes later there was a table ready, we’ll there was quite afew tables ready so don’t know why it would of ever been a 40minute wait. The lady working in our seating area was very polite and well mannerd. The food on the other hand was appalling. The potatoes were hard like they been crispy 5hrs before but just warmed up. Even the carrots had a slight crisp around the edges as if it’s all been sat under the heated light for to long. There wasn’t much choice on the veg. I wouldn’t return to this carvery as it was a complete waste of money.

We went to this Toby Inn last night and the whole thing was awful. Yes, they had had a power cut for about 3 minutes, but this then appeared to be the excuse for everything. They couldn't access our booking, but we stood for about 15 minutes until they decided to just sit us down(it wasn't that busy).We were told to go up to the carvery,only to find, there was no beef,about one portion of turkey that the lady in front had,and a few end bits if dried up lamb. We opted for the only available option of one very small slice of gammon, as this was running out, and about 3 slices of pork. Once we had our food, we went to get gravy, which had already been asked for by the lady in front. We stood waiting for at least 5 minutes to then be told that there was no more gravy (because of the 3 minute power cut) and they wouldn't be any more made. This was for a 7.30pm booking. Consequently the meal was cold & dry, I left most of mine. We were using a Groupon voucher, so got a pudding included. This seemed to cause a problem, as because of the power cut they couldn't automatically order, one of the guests then suggested they used a pen & paper !! The ice cream was fine, but you can't go far wrong with that. On reflection, we should just have walked out once they knew that they couldn't deliver( Toby's wonderful gravy & 4 roasts).Will never set foot in the place again!!

Waited 15 minutes to be told they didn’t have enough meat and couldn’t serve us! 3pm Saturday afternoon so no idea what they did the rest for the rest of the day, there was only 2 of us

Went as part of a group of 12. My first criticism is that they only serve Prosecco by selling you a 70cl bottle... opted for a glass of Pinot Grigio but it was very mediocre. I have to say the food was lovely, a nice helping of my chosen meat and a varied selection of veg, all piping hot. The general service though was poor, we had to wait for quite some time before anyone came to enquire if we would like dessert. The place has been refurbished but how I wish they’d bring the curtains back!

Michelle from Rotherham...you have just made our night....your friendly banter, knowledge of products and willingness to help us was in abundance. You treated us like family members and your customer service skills were excellent...and the best thing was you are a natural. They way you interacted with my Mum and took your time to help her was so refreshing to see..you understand very quickly that she was struggling and took your time to help her. I watched you interacting with other customers and you really are a customer service supremo.The chief was a true Yorkshire man (no Aunt Bessies here don’t you know!). We had a little wait in the queue for the Carvery however it was worth it as the food was lovely, good selection, plenty of it and excellent quality.

Went on a friday night and tried to use a groupon voucher, I brought two but the restaurant claimed they were not valid so had to pay full price

It has been done up since last we visited and very nice it is.

We booked a table on 17/2/2020 we arrived on time and were shown to our table. We ordered our drinks and we’re told to go to the carvery when we were ready. Unfortunately when we got to the carvery we noticed that there only appeared to be lamb available. We queued hoping that by the time it was our turn a selection of other meats would be brought out. This wasn’t the case. The poor chef carving the meat looked embarrassed by the situation. My husband found a manager and asked if any more was being brought out and the answer was no! Given that not all of our family eats lamb we were forced to eat else where. We had a text from the Toby carvery reminding us of our reservation at 6pm so they clearly had our contact details. I’m unsure why we weren’t contacted to advise us of the situation so we didn’t waste our time and fuel travelling there. Complete lack of communication and embarrassment caused to your evening staff!

Limited meat selection as no Gammon available, beef was chewy and not very pleasant, rest of the food was fine. Felt really sorry for the few staff on shift, as they were run off their feet and meant they couldn’t attend to people enough. Left without pudding as it took so long between courses

Very polite staff, fast service and brilliant food. Wait for tables is very short and service very fast.

Amazing staff, incredible food and a lovely atmosphere. All of the staff are so so lovely and we never fail to have a lovely time! 100% the best place to go on a Sunday!

I just live up the road from this place and pop in every so often. There’s a reason for that which is that it is is inconsistent in every way.

Can get a bit busy, once had to queue for 15 minutes, but food is good. Veg cooked well, desserts are great. Nice for a mid week visit. Very accommodating for kids.

My mum and I needed a quick stop and have always used Toby (we don't live in Loughborough anymore) this place use to be great. When we arrived no one came to the desk to see us, the guy on the bar completely ignored us. Finally a waitress came over, who told us she can't give us a table because there is not enough meat! Not even for their bookings! WOW! I really hope a manager takes notice and puts some effort in to what is needed!Some training on being observant, a smile and at least acknowledgement from the bar staff OH and maybe order some food! Reading other reviews it's such a shame, from what I remember this use to be a lovely restaurant.

My boys love a roast and when ever we’re in Loughborough their 1st choice is Toby Carvery.

Visited today at 13.00hrs thought we would pop in and have some lunch as we were near by.

Greeted by a lovely Lady called Lyn.

Tony Carveries are great value. Loads of well cooked food, plenty of choice and reasonable prices. Decor probably a bit dated but great service and easy parking. What's not to like?

Visited yesterday with some family, when the drinks arrived the waiter poured an entire pint of lager over my 11 year old nephew and soaked him, I understand accidents happen but not even so much as an apology from him. We were then waiting for the waitress to take our food order as we had children with us who didn’t want carvery, after waiting for 20 minutes we eventually had to ask and she just replied ‘yeah you just go up’ and went to walk away. We had to explain that we actually wanted to order which seemed a huge inconvenience to her. Overall a really poor visit and awful service. Very disappointed

Took my kids to have breakfast with santa on 24th December.Absolutely friendly staff, santa was friendly even it character with kids even got a little present..thank you Toby.

Visited on Sunday lunch, 12.30 just before Christmas. After past visits I was expecting long wait for table, long queue at carvery and tepid food. But we went straight in, carvery all looked very fresh. The turkey was delicious and not at all tough. There was a wider selection of vegetables and everything was hot. It’s not fine dining, more like a fast food restaurant for a roast dinner but if that’s what you are expecting then this is the place to go.

A group of us had booked an festive fair evening here thought it would be festive and nice but it definitely was not no decorations just a cracker on the table there was know Christmas vibes at all and as for food it was very poor the soup was just a tin of tomato’s blended it tasted like. as for the prawn cocktail with avacardo nasty as it was over loaded with vinegar out of the three cocktails no one eat them or the soup only the pate was eaten so after a long time had to ask for dishes to be removed when this started to happen we went for Caravey wish haven’t bothered dry turkey burnt roast potatoes dried out peas very burnt parsnips hardly no cheese sauce on cauliflower totally horrible pudding was a bit better as some had ice cream witch they can’t get wrong as it a machine that makes it but as for chocolate brownie was nothing more than a size of a 50p peace shocking how can a good name of Toby carvery serve so bad food I can now see why they are closing down all over the country and after my experience last night it won’t be a lose and one last thing train your staff in hygiene as at the end a waitress was mopping the food area with a green bucket and a red mop which should only be used for toilets if your the manger of this Toby you should be reading this and feeling very reflective as it’s on your shoulder the running of this place

We dropped into this Toby carvery at 5-15 tonight tables empty but a lady said sorry fully booked ! I said there are empty tables we will be done in 30 minutes ? Sorry fully booked ! Great customer service and management. Stuart matthews

Went with friends for a birthday celebration. 2 of us would have liked Prosecco but was told they only do large bottles as they had stopped selling it by the glass or in small bottles. I ask myself was this because it's Christmas time and them trying to get you to buy large bottle. Also they hadnt got any steamed pudding left also the food wasn't great but i must say the Turkey and Gammon i had was lovely. My friend asked for beef but that was really fatty so she was dissatisfied.

I've been standing in a cue for a cavery for 40mins n still not been served, as I don't live local it would have been quicker to travel to Sweden an ask for a fish supper. The bitter is flatter than Holland but the food is OK and so are the staff. As I came to leave I went to use the facilities and found them to be locked so had to use the disabled toilet .

We went here last Thursday for a late lunch, I had tried to book a table on the phone but the call kept being passed through a loop and not picked up. As we out for a hospital appointment we went straight to the restaurant, arriving there at about 4pm. I went in to a fairly deserted restaurant to be told no we are fully booked. I looked around in amazement and questioned the hostess, as 4pm is not exactly the busiest time of day but she was adamant. Your loss, we went on to have a super lunch at another local establishment and after the way I was spoken to, I wouldn´t visit your restaurant again if if were the last place in Loughborough.

The food portions were very small. Order the very vegan burger and the vegan lasagna. The burger was brought to the table. Where as for my husband he had to join the Carvery queue to get the vegan lasagna. He has to wait 10mins to which I had nearly finished mine, as it would of gotten cold. Not only this but if your vegan you don’t want to be stood there having to look at the meat just to get your plate of food. This maybe so he could get some vegetables, however as it wasn’t clear if any of the vegetable were suitable for vegans as they may have been roasted if animal fats, or butter added to them. He was left with a very small lasagna. Personally they should have been already placed on the plate.

Went for Sunday carvery with my daughter and have to say for £10 it was remarkably good. Great choice of roast meats and vegetables. Brilliant Yorkshire pudding. The only drawback is the massive queue once you have been shown your table to get to the food. It took about 30 minutes. I’m told that this is normal for a Sunday carvery but it’s not so bad during the week. All in all an ok experience.

I took my mum here with my little girl yesterday lunchtime for my mums birthday meal. Upon arrival we had to wait for someone to great us at the ‘wait to be seated’ sign whilst the lady behind the desk chatted to her friend, there was also another family waiting behind us.

I went with my Family for a carvery on Sunday 10/11/19 it was very nice , i had turkey and beef but the beef was quite tough and fatty. The staff were very nice,helpful and friendly. Dessert i thought was expensive for what was actually served but was still enjoyable. Would return but advise people to book as it gets very busy. We booked and still had to wait about 10 minutes for our table.

I went for dinner this evening with my elderly parents. We were served quickly with drinks and then selected our food at the carvery. The food was all great and it cost £10 each with a drink....fantastic value. The staff were all pleasant. I want to mention Dale particularly, who was great with my Dad, who has Alzheimer’s. We’ll be back.

Went here for meal on Sunday and it was surprisingly empty. Still had to wait to be seated and front of house not most friendly. As soon as we sat down we were jumped on to order both drinks and food. Opted for carvery and although it was ok, I think all the staff did not want to be there. No interaction from chefs carving or servers. We were rushed thro quite quickly even though ideas still only half full. Not as good an experience as my last visit, and this may be the last.

Went for a carvery today-worst dining experience for a while. Too many people, had to queue for 45mins to get foodand heat was unbearable. Sort yourselves out-I go to have a carvery to get my food quickly. Thankfully food was nice
