Be very careful when you pay by card in this place and make sure you get a receipt. I visited the place for Englands semi final and have some very strange transactions on my cards A fat pink haired thing also took my full pint and half away whilst I was in the toilet which added insult to the dodgy pricing

Not long re-opened after an extensive refurb. Nice place to have a pint with friends. Worth a visit.

What a smashing pub in Loughborough. Used to drink there when I was a lot younger, and studying at RNIB Vocational College. Went for a visit last year and it was awesome. Great friendly staff and friendly customers. Spoke to a few and had a laugh with them. Lovely refurb by the way. I will be returning later this year with my buddy, Lee. Best Wishes for 2024. Me and my son popped in for an early dinner as he’s only young l, the pub was quiet so we hoped for quick service … but I was wrong we were sat at a sticky messy table the servers were rude and the manager ( I think he was called mark) was very rude to us… we didn’t even finish our meals as I felt to uncomfortable being stared at before we payed and left

Great welcome for 3 strangers to watch the England vs Scotland game. Landlord and staff could not have been nicer and the crowd was very lively but very friendly too. Great spot.

Went in with my wife, room on our table in line with covid restrictions of 6. My daughter came to join us, but was refused entry by a waiter, not because the table was full, but because he went out with my daughter and felt uncomfortable her being there. This is a PUBLIC house, and although staff rules are there to protect staff, is the landlord prepared to endorse a waiter who isn't letting someone in based on who they've dated? That means if he dates further girls, they aren't allowed in pub either....what a joke. Landlord sided with staff member, and to add insult she was informed she's now barred as we left and she was outside for trying to get in to see her parents. AVOID, AVOID , AVOID

Nipped in on the off chance of getting a Sunday lunch. Old style pub nice and clean and well looked after, personable landlord and landlady with great customer skills lunch was exactly what we were hoping for very well cooked and quick service (not rushed though) hidden gem this place should take off big time with locals and students get in quick while you can

When I do go into Loughborough this is one pub I love a large gin and tonic with ice, somehow they serve it better here than anywhere.

Went there for lunch only to find that as it was St Patricks day they were only doing a strange very limited Irish menu which we didn't fancy! Seemed a bit unloved we thought, however staff seemed friendly.

We had an absolutely lovely Sunday lunch here, the" new chef did a great job"! the food was very tasty and served nice and hot. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was great, would definitly eat here again.

We called in early doors for a pre-dinner drinks. The pub had changed hands a few times recently and appeared to be struggling. Our recent visit was enjoyable with a decent drink and a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. The Blacksmiths is back on our list.

We couldn't eat our food, my curry was the driest I've ever had, my husband's pie wasn't homemade and the mash was lumpy the rest of the veg uninteresting. Definatly won't go there again!

Good quality pub fare. All your pub favourites using good quality ingredients, served quickly and with a smile. Home made burger was great, as was the double egg, gammon and chips. Some meals have a deal which include a pint. I'd certainly go here again.

This place is brilliant! I went a few weeks ago to watch ska amanga perform and they were brilliant! The whole place was packed and everyone was dancing. What a great night. It's the first time I had ever gone there but I bloody loved it and can't wait to see what other bands are performing there too

Bias as this is my local....and ran by a top bloke who I know personally.....but this is the place I chose to do the bulk of my drinking now based on the bloke running the place and the qualities he brings...good beer...good atmosphere.....good food.......good music........what more could you want?!?!?

I came up to see the band that were on but it is a great venue. The staff were very polite, friendly and welcoming-none of this ignoring strangers you get in some places. For bands the was a nice area to set up in and for customers plenty of areas to get a good view. As a pub prices were good, served with a smile and chat. I didn't eat here but looking at the menu there were some bargains there. No reason the kitchen shouldn't be as clean as the rest so i'd be confident in the food, and will try next time I'm around. If I was more local then I'd be a regular here it felt nicer than the four other places I went to! Great band good venue and fantastic staff.

Además, hay a menudo tanto por que no goofing es posible escuchar o ver la basura de calidad t. v. ¿Cuál es el punto de ir para sky sports si todo me voy a ver la parte trasera de agacharse pervertidos admirando los niños? Los precios por la comida es ridículo - estoy pagando mucho dinero, así que la comida decente en regresar; en cambio, la comida sabe como era cocinada en horno de juguete de mi hija. Vergonzoso! Since the pub has come under new management it has gone down hill. The staff are friendly enough but do seem a bit disinterested. The toilets smell 'odd' and either have water all over the floor or just haven't been cleaned and when you go to flush (in the ladies) be careful not to find yourself holding the handle in mid air rather than actually flushing. The food used to be really good but seems less on the menu and when you order a chicken burger that is supposed to come with chicken, lettuce, cheese and mayo only comes with chicken and lettuce, it was all rather dry. The chips were really nice though. They have tried to jazz the place up but it's been months now and things not quite finished off so is just tacky looking and untidy but the worrying thing was the last couple of times I have been there, the fire exit door to the side has a bike lock round it so God help you if there is a fire and that is your only escape route.

Always good to see pubs re invent themselves rather than closing as so many do... Having said that was extremely quiet for a holiday/weekend night and kind of diffident service makes you wonder what it actually offers compared with the lively competition nearby . People were cleaning up tables by 8.30, the music was loud and we didn't really feel like staying very long-just ok really.

Wow, amazing portions and piping hot. Would go again.

Having the (dubious) distinction of being most renamed pub in Loughborough, according to "Billy's Book of Loughborough Boozers", it has now returned its name back to The Blacksmiths, and also returned itself to a good old fashioned pub, albeit with a eating area one side and a music area the other. From an eating point of view, I can't fault it at all, bearing in mind that this is pub-grub, the food is top draw, but a word of warning... if you order the Moo Mothership Pie, make sure you are really hungry, and prepare to lie in bed at night thinking "why, oh why, did I eat all that?!?" I have also had the fish and chips, and the fish pie,.....not on the same night of course, and they were both drop-dead tasty. A bigger selection of beers is a good strategy for a good pub, and they are lightly lacking in that area, and really need to address this problem, although the pint of Scottish bitter I had was cracking. The service staff on the food side was pleasant and attentive.... maybe the bar staff need to lift their game a bit... there's a time and place for being glued to a mobile phone, and texting someone while people are waiting to be served is not one of them! All in all a great place but just needs tweaking in a few areas. Would I go again? Without a doubt, but I'd have to starve for two days before I had the Mothership pie again. Fish pie next time methinks.

Me gusta visitar este pub. Tiene una agradable y moderna, ofrece excelente comida hogareña de calidad razonable y una selección de bebidas. Es ideal en términos de ubicación como hay un montón de aparcamiento cerca y está a sólo unos minutos a pie de otros bares y el resto de la ciudad.

Parecía bastante agradable, muy tranquilo cuando fuimos, previa al partido de Inglaterra. Amstel de barril era agradable, creo que Heineken podría haber sido llegar cerca del final de la barrica. La cocina estaba cerrada por un renovado cuando asistimos así no hay comida Parecía limpio, el personal era atento y amable, y ciertamente parecía lleno cuando caminamos por las 11 pm!

The beer is good, the food is very nice, it is possible to sit down and enjoy a chat without loud music like you can find in other places (quite disturbing).

Having frequented The Blacksmith Arms when I was a tad younger it was nice to pop in for a pint for old times sake (as the place had been closed for a few years)

Popped in during our pub crawl of Loughborough - pleasant enough. Not busy at all when we were there though.

The décor, the beer and the Piemaster pies at this pub are plus points and it's a good place to go with a few mates and watch Sky Sports given that at that end of town there isn't anywhere else to watch the football. However you can get the same pies at The Swan and if you stretch your legs a bit you can go to The Griffin to watch the sport. Also let's face it - theres three other places almost within spitting distance that serve food other than pies so why limit yourself - The Orange Tree (more expensive), Wetherspoons (not as classy but cheaper) and Browns Lane (more classy more expensive). So why choose The Blacksmiths?I decided to try and find out one lunchtime with my girlfriend with the added bonus that Leicester vs Man City was on the various televisions. Having already eaten several Piemaster pies at The Swan we opted instead for The Blacksmith's own menu.I chose what I think was called the Blacksmiths Burger and my girlfriend just a simple cheese and pickle sandwich. Both came quickly and both had chips with them. First problem the chips were dark brown and greasy - I think that means that they've been cooked too long at too low a temperature (I used to work in a chippy once upon a time I should know). They were not at all crispy and not even chip shop standard. Next problem was the bread on the sandwich which was at least a day old - not totally stale but getting there and the proportion of bread to filling was ludicrous.Third problem - the worst in my opinion - the burger while looking homemade was very badly cooked - charred on the outside and red raw in the middle. Now, while I like my steak done like that, I don't expect to be eating uncooked mince for lunch. I ate what I could and left the rest. The pulled pork on top of the burger was a bit odd too - not the fine shredded mess I have come to expect but rather quite thick long chunks equivalent of Walker's French Fries in dimensions. The burger bun was okay and the side salad had a light dressing on it. It was also well presented but it's pointless if the food is second-rate.Perhaps we were unlucky and perhaps evening meals or their steaks are better than the lunches, but we're not going to revisit to find out and we certainly won't be back for lunch. The Orange Tree, Browns Lane and Wetherspoons have no need to fear The Blacksmiths as they are no competition apart from hosting Sky Sports.

Nice renovation.Always dead in the day.We often drop in for coffee and a drink of some sort - mainly because it`s a smart renovation， it`s quiet and they provide a little shot glass of M&m`s with a coffee.Well， not any more. No M&M`s， the wi-fi doesn`t work and with their coffee twice the price of Weatherspoons accross the road - no prizes for guessing where we`re off to next time.

Have been meaning to write this review for awhile. Stoped here for some lunch with a friend first impressions placed looked very nice. had a quick look through the menu and decided very quickly what we were goin to have so placed the order at the bar and sat back down waiting. now roughly 40mins in there was no sign of our meals so asked the bar staff and after 10mins he came and said sorry the kitchen put your order in the spike because they thought it already went out. wasn't happy with this at all, we still decided to wait for our meals to be cooked so well over an hour we waited. i asked the bar staff if they were goin to do anything about this mistake they made for example maybe offer me a free desert or drink. Answer i got was no but you can have a 2for1 meal voucher thats it, no appologie nothing. Can happily say i will not be going back to this place, rubbish service, rude staff and food wasn't all that good. Should teach the staff to pay more attention how to do their job so they don't make stupid mistakes.

Came in tonight for date night with my fiancée as had wanted to tryout the 2 steaks and bottle of wine for £21.95 and was not disappointed it was the best steak I've ever had friendly atmosphere and you can tell the staff actually care about your experience would highly recommend to anyone.Also come here for there Sunday dinners which are the best all round excellent food and staff

A historic building near to the central park. We thought it was sympathetically renovated and cleverly combined heritage features and contemporary styling. The food was very good. Recommend trying Thursday's as they do a special deal Steak Night. In my opinion, the emphasis on music and sports makes this one more likely to appeal to a younger audience, but all are welcomed by the friendly staff. Lively venue worth a visit.

This is a very nice pub with delicious home cooked food. The staff were attentive and friendly. They have a good reasonably priced menu with a nice choice of veggie meals. They allow children up until 9pm but the only downside was they didn't have a children's menu. Nonetheless, they were able to accommodate my 11 year old daughter who didn't want to try their adult veggie options. This was the best food I had over the whole weekend I stayed in Loughborough. Definitely worth a visit.

We always call in this public house on a saturday,once going to town then again comming back.The staff and management are all brilliant in my respect,and can't do enough to help.We decided to eat yesterday,we weren't disapointed,the food was very good,the service was excellent,and the price was reasonable,we shall deffinately be eating there again.In my opinion well worth a visit and a nosh,Keep it up Blacksmiths,to coin a fraise I BE BACK.

Went into Loughborough looking for a traditional restaurant for lunch , came across the blacksmiths .We were greeted by the owner who ended up being a really nice guy, all the food is fresh and tasted absolutely fantastic and cooked to perfection , then had a gorgeous desert which was amazing . I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants great value for money and amazing food .

Overall we enjoyed our meal here although we found the service disappointing. I'd heard a rumour that they were accommodating to Slimming World, but when I asked at the bar they looked totally bemused (so perhaps that was my mistake). They said they were unable to offer any potato alternative to chips, which kind of surprised me, but I didn't really push it. They then got one of our meals wrong, although they handled that really well, apologised a lot and offered to change it. After main meals they offered to get us the pudding menu, but took ages to come back, by which time we'd found it ourselves (only had two puddings on it anyway ;-)). But, all that said, the food was yummy and the place had a really nice atmosphere and no-one was phased by my two young kids. I'd go again and give it another chance, maybe it was just a bad day.

A rarther confusing pub . Trying to be something it is not . The menu is confusing and when the food arrived it was not as the menu stated . Trying to be some kind of gourmet burger joint without success I am afraid . A very poor experience with poor food . The site is very nice decor though but over all not be going back.
