We had sandwiches off the lunch menu which were presented well and tasty. Service from waitress Holly was lovely. She was welcoming and attentive. Making sure our puppy had water and treats ! Shall return again for the same excellent service. Well done !

We were booked to go for Sunday dinner but at the last minute, mum said she didn’t feel well. The Field Head don’t do take out food, but when my daughter drive round to explain, they said it would be no problem (she’d took our plates as we knew they didn’t have take out boxes. Not only was it not a problem, the 3 plated dinners came out in no time. The staff were helpful and understanding and even asked how mum was and sent their best wishes. The dinner as always was beautiful. Thank you to all of the team who rescued our dinner time plans.

Stayed at the Fieldhead went with my friend on a trip to meet up with a friend and I can say it’s really lovely. Rooms are clean and well kept it was lovely & warm beds really comfy and bathroom slightly dated but spotless and very functional . The real Jewel for this place is the staff they are so friendly & helpful the reception girl went above and beyond finding us an extension for some medical equipment that needed to be by the bed , extra towles and tea & milk all taken to the room for us in the morning again very friendly. Saw lots of cleaners and they were all busy & pleasant in the restaurant staff were helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellently and lots of choice all fresh evening meal was nice and all in all it was a good experience and stay . The manager is so friendly and his staff are obviously happy there . Thank you we will come back again 😊

Brilliant stop off location for lunch only 1 mile from the M1 junction. Excellent food & service. Will definitely use again as good food at reasonable prices.

Received a great welcome from reception and most staff very friendly and helpful. Evening dinner - pies good , Caesar salad good, salmon dried and overcooked. Breakfast service unfriendly and poor - no refill for yogurt or coffee and told we could not have hollandaise sauce with any breakfast dishes as it hadn’t arrived. When asked if the chef could make from basic (simple ingredients and process) was told it had to be bought-in so they could show allergy suffers the label - what nonsense - it would mean chefs could not produce anything on site. Bedroom was clean, comfortable.

We were served a menu after getting drinks and my daughter asked for a large portion of rosemary fries to go with her steak sandwich. Her meal was served without the rosemary chips and the small portion of fries which she had not selected. We waited to alert the staff but as no one was visible in the next few minutes my daughter went to the bar and waited to speak to someone who said they would change it. After finishing our meal we decided we would like a dessert but staff were no where to be seen. Eventually a lady came who asked if we would like the dessert menus to which we replied in the affirmative. We waited and waited and waited and were so cross we decided to scrap the dessert and we wanted to pay our bill. Again no staff were in the vicinity and after many minutes we got the bill. Of the 3 times we have visited each time it has been quiet in the restaurant yet service has been abysmal. Such a pity as the food was excellent. I forgive anyone 1 mistake but clearly this is a regular situation and we will not bother in future.

We both ordered the chicken in a basket for lunch and thought it was delicious, especially with the Kiev sauce. The serving staff were very friendly and helpful too

I have been here many times with my wife and friends, and we are never disappointed, Once again on Friday a fantastic meal (fish and chips today) we were greeted by great staff, the chef's obviously take great pride in what they produce and the whole experience was faultless. Thank you.

Very friendly welcome. We were a large party of 16 and the restaurant had all our pre orders which was served in a timely manner. My only observation was the steak meals were very bland looking adding another 50p for peas and mushrooms would make this dish more appealing.

Just awful. Staff will move your things from a table you are at whilst you are in the toilet to make room for dinners. And then when you can actually find a table that are reserved at breakfast time for diners at night Rude

Had twice rated this place 5 stars in the past, however, after Monday's visit it’s just not the same. Popped up on Monday (25th April) as it’s within walking distance for us and it was great to see the place busy with every table full. Service and staff friendly as always. However, the food was atrocious. Halloumi fries for starter was 4 bits of deep fried halloumi that were then cut in half to bulk out the portion, honestly some of the strips were more batter (burnt) than halloumi. Just served with a pot of sauce and no side salad. Main courses, chicken in a basket was ok, wife’s lasagne was beyond burnt and bordered on cremated. At least both had side salads this time. Shared a brownie pudding, brought in and thrown on a plate. Will be giving the place a wide berth for a while which is a shame as it’s on our doorstep and used for food at least once a month and any big family gatherings.

I’ve just got to say the Fieldhead continues to deliver. From business meetings to overnight stays it is something you can depend on - the food is good pub food and the rooms are comfortable

Having been told this was a dog friendly pub, we were looking to give our puppy his first experience of coming out with us for Sunday lunch. I knew nothing else about The Field Head at all. What a wonderful surprise- the place is very nicely presented- modern and clean but very comfortable. The staff without exception all went out of their way to make us feel welcome and that we were happy. The food was exceptional- beautiful looking plates of food which were all delicious and really good quality. The Field Head is something of a hidden gem, but we will be back for sure. Oh, and the dog - he smashed it! Well behaved and just went to sleep after everyone had given him some fuss!

We had a lovely family meal here last Saturday evening. Pub itself is cosy with beams and tasteful decor. All the staff and manager were attentive and saw to our every need. We were a mix of ages from 12 to 80 and the menu catered for us all, with something for everyone. Steaks were cooked well and salad well prepared, fresh and with a dressing - I may be in a minority when I say I judge somewhere by its side salad but I do! It shows care and attention to detail. Great starters too, I had calamari which was gorgeous. Most of us finished with a mini dessert and hot drink which was the perfect end to a lovely family meal. Thanks George & Co!

We booked late so had the early siting. We expected to be rushed but it wasn’t the case. The staff were brilliant and the food superb. Honestly felt like we were the only diners with every interaction. Our mum and us mums had the loveliest time. We all agreed it would definitely be a return for us. 10 out of 10 for staff on what was going to be a busy day.

Really, really friendly staff from Belinda on reception to the restaurant. Nice feel to the hotel, good rooms and excellent dinner. Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious.

Stayed at this hotel with friends and had a great time. The room was spotless and smelt very fresh. Lovely new towels in the bathroom. Enjoyed having a drink in the cosy bar and staff were very pleasant and helpful. Enjoyed the breakfast selection of continental and cooked. We would highly recommend this hotel if you need to stay in this area.

We came to celebrate our dogs 8th birthday or 2nd because of the leaping status. We were greeted with a birthday card for her signed by the staff and some treats. What a fantastic gesture. Thank you team Field Head

We arrived at the fieldhead and were welcomed with open arms. The staff are lovely and can't do enough for you. We stayed in a pet friendly room,it was spotless and the bed was enormous and very comfortable. Overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back.

We had Sunday lunch at The Fieldhead at the start of February. We'd eaten there several times before, but each time the experience was more disappointing than the last!.... This visit we were sat at a table which was by the front door and got hit by a waft of cold air every time someone came in. The table was very sticky and looked like it hadn't been cleaned properly. The service was quick, but the atmosphere was lacking. I ordered the salmon main meal, which was a very small portion consisting of a small piece of salmon, a few small potatoes swimming in far too much hollandaise and a massive pile of watercress on top. Certainly not worth the money. My partner had the beef Sunday lunch, which was chewy and contained undercooked potatoes. We were not impressed. We received our bill promptly but then had to wait over 10 minutes before discovering that no-one was coming to take payment from us. We ended up paying at the bar, even though other tables had their bill settled where they sat. We feel that the food quality has declined over the last year, the service is variable, and the building is shabby and in need of tlc.

Having not been here for a while due to a bad experience. Food and service were both shocking. However, we called in today to give it another try. This has got to be the best Greene king pub. The food was absolutely fantastic as was the service. We had scampi, sirloin and Mac n cheese. All came out piping hot and fresh. Couldn’t fault any of it. The Sunday lunch looked fabulous too.

Had dinner and stay over, the staff were very welcoming and friendly, hotel check in lady (sorry didn't get your name) was really nice made us feel welcome as soon as we walked in served by Toni for dinner amazing service cannot thank you both enough for the effort made, food was 10/10 all in all a great stay and we will most certainly be returning 😀

Firstly I have to thank the staff, changing our times for 3 tables, the service was second to none too. With the Covid restrictions they definitely had it so well organised. Then there's the food, arrived in a timely fashion, hot and of course tasted great. Between us we had a variety of dishes, none had anything left on their plates - says it all. Even with the time restrictions we weren't rushed and enjoyed out time here. Guess what we're coming back again in the Autumn.

We went Wednesday night for our first visit back since the reopening. Although it was very busy and the staff were running round the food was lovely and everyone had a great time. My kids enjoyed there food too. Will be back now it’s starting to get back to normal.Great to see that our dog was allowed still too.

Had a lovely meal and catch up with friends met online during lockdown. Service was great, food was tasty. Steve and Sean both served our table and checked in during our meal to make sure everything was okay. Staff followed covid procedures and felt safe and happy.

Great place to meet friends for lunch or dinner. Staff extremely friendly & helpful. Felt very safe after such a long time of staying in! Good choice of dishes- catering for a light lunch or main meal. The gammon & steak sandwich meals were delicious. The service was excellent & we had time to catch up on the events of the past few months as I enjoyed a pint of Aspalls! We will definitely be meeting up there again very soon.

Really nice to return back to The Fieldhead. Delicious food and friendly staff. One way system and hand sanitiser stations everywhere for customers to use. Only have to wear face masks when at the bar, toilets and being seated. Relaxing environment. Can’t wait to come back.

Went out for an after work meal today ordered the fillet steak, cooked just right! We were served by Rhianna who was lovely, we also came on a previous day and was served by Rebekah who was also very polite and attentive.

We decided to nip in on the first day we had been child - less as they both went back to school. Staff were attentive. It was COVID safe and the food was lovely. The only thing that let it down was the manager (we assumed he was the manager as he seemed to be interviewing new staff). 3 or 4 times we heard him booming orders and instructions to his staff rather than going over and talking to them. ‘Yawping’ would be a good word. Anyway. Nice staff and nice food.

We had a table booked for 7pm but arrived early. Covid-secure measures were good, and as far as I could see, adhered to throughout. However, we waited an age to place our order, after asking several times. Someone else, possibly a manager, cleared the plates, and then we continued to wait to order desserts. Once she finally came over, out of the four desserts we’d chosen, one was available. So she said she’d give us a few minutes to decide and come back. Ten minutes later we finally hailed her to come and give us a bill. On the plus side, all the food was delicious, just really poor service.

Unfortunately... An all round bad experience. I was really excited for this meal but the food is very disappointing (but not cheap £!) and the service is terrible. There are plenty of nicer places in the area... I would recommend giving this place a miss.

First meal out since the COVID pandemic- chose the Fieldhead as an ideal meeting place halfway for a friend & I to meet. Great service & all staff were very friendly & helpful. It felt very safe as staff wearing plastic shields. Excellent choice of menu & prompt service. Food was delicious so we will definitely be meeting there again ASAP. Recently went there for the firsttime and the food was really nice! The employees are super friendly as well; got served by Rhiannon and it's safe to say she made the experience pleasant!Would definitely recommend going there if you're looking for a place to eat out and relax.

Good evening I tried to book a room on the Greene king website for a birthday treat but told unable to book tried several different dates kept telling same thing so I thought I would give u guys a call the young man I spoke to said his name was Sean very helpful and polite and resolved the problem and booked me my room I look forward to meeting Sean on my visit thank you again

We had a table last night for 6 for a family birthday, the bar was busy which is always a good sign, the menu had a good choice, and bar service was quick, we had a table in a private area which suited us, I believe the girl that served us may have been new as once she had taken our order she had to come back to us a few times to double check things, not her fault and she was polite and apologetic, so no issues there, the food was a different story, one person in my party had scampi, and said that the oil used was old and she ended up taking the scampi out of the breadcrumbs and leaving the breadcrumbs as they were that hard she couldn’t eat it , one meal wasn’t brought out until everybody else was half way through their meals and we had to ask where it was, bread & butter was ordered with the fish & chips which we didn’t get but wasn’t an issue, until we saw the bill and saw that we had still been charged for it! Little things that add up! I wanted to stay something about it but my family said it’s not worth it and we just won’t go back We still enjoyed the catch up but we paid a lot for mediocre food

After using this restaurant for the last 2 Christmas day lunches I confidently booked for 4 people, all adults, again last Christmas (2019) In 2018 I took 11 people.1st Course o.k.2nd Course. 3 adult meals and 1 child meal brought to the table. The girl looked confused when I showed her that there were no children at our table but took the meal back to the kitchen.... only to return a little later with the smaller plate but with more food on it?? Never mind, I thought, I'll have that one.There was no stuffing on one of the 'adult' plates and all meals were served with gravy on them, not in a separate boat, as it should be served. Good job we all wanted gravy on our meals.Sweet Course. 4 Christmas puddings brought to the table even though 1 x ice cream, 1 x sorbet and 2 cheese and biscuits were ordered.We were asked which sorbet had been ordered when there was only one choice??Cheese and biscuits were served in another room but with no way of picking it up as there was no cutlery. Consequently, as the Brie had melted somewhat you couldn't pick it up. The same went for the chocolate cake, it had to be picked up by hand but had melted a bit.... messy.We were asked by the waitress 'how was the meal' and I gently broke it to her 'not too good, sorry'It wasn't her fault, after all said and done.As we left one of us had chewing gum stuck to his trouser leg from under the table.All in all, a spoilt day for £64.99p per head.

Well what can I say..... I went for a meal with friends yesterday (2nd Dec) and the food was AMAZING! they got the order right first time and nothing was too much trouble. Sean was wonderfully helpful and we had a great evening!!

The food was good but the service was certainly a new experience!! It wasn't unpleasant but certainly not what you might expect. It provide us a laugh so all good in the end.
