The Toast Box in Scarborough

Really nice cafe, a stone's throw away from Scarborough town centre, and a short walk to North Bay. It is a friendly cafe, with a good range of food provided. Every day a special meal is served. The breakfast is really good value, good portion size as well. The Sunday dinners are legendary, with the plate over flowing. Really enjoyed all of the breakfasts, dinners and cream teas I had in there. A definite recommend if you want quality at good value price.

Dirty, cheap & Nasty. Not very clean inside. No-one wore gloves to prepare food. The woman was trying to do too many jobs at once. I was served the smallest bit potato I'd ever seen.. My husband had burger but it was cold in the middle. Not very nice at all. Who ever gave the food hygiene rating clearly has not eaten there.!!!

Very friendly & chatty, makes the food in good time and very reasonably priced. Makes a great bacon butty! A nice lil cafe with a traditional feel. Seating outside available for smokers and sunnier weather.

Whilst on holiday in Scarborough, we (Family of 7) visited this little cafe. The food was good, atmosphere was great and the prices reasonable. My only regret was finding it on our last day of our holiday. I would recommend and if I am ever in the area again, I will visit again.

The price was right for a takeaway, but when it was opened up it almost seemed overpriced. Very little content to the sandwiches, I'd rather pay more and get more, not feel hungry after eating. The cafe itself is dingy and dirty, and there was broken glass on the floor around the exterior, not very welcoming.

Dropped in hoping for a last minute lunch, and food was made freshly for us by the lovely owner while chatting to us, delicious beef salad sandwich for Mr H, who comes here for his lunchtime sandwich when he is watching the cricket during the festival. Great value for money, and a warm welcome guaranteed.

The place is really dirty. Ended up sitting outside because of the smell. Shame because the food was decent but really put off by the state of the place.

The lady is doing meals to take away at lunchtime. I had bangers and mash, plenty of it and very tasty

My hubby & me found a lovely cafe here in Scarborough,Jan 9th 2020 they do a lovely breakfast, very good value & friendly staff, & a lovely cup of tea!

Called in early morning on way to a nearby cricket match. Take away bread cakes and bacon roll. Friendly and quickly served.

Called here for some breakfast. The place is not the ritz, however the food and service make up for the decor. Proper food, well cooked and sensible prices. Definitely worth a visit.

Decent café but far from fine dining. We had breakfasts that came in 3 sizes from modest to ‘belly-busting’. Classic full english with steaming brews and quantities of toast! We even sat outside in the sunshine in late September!

Me and my son have been coming here for about 3 years now, each time we visit scarborough. We come approx 3/4 times a year. Joanne is one of the nicest people in the business, and nothing is too much trouble. My son is a picky eater and she doesn't hesitate to knock up something that he fancies. Lovely cafe, great food and a friendly atmosphere. You aren't rushed, and there's newspapers to read if you fancy. Couldn't ask for more - well apart from if we lived there of course! Was nice to go this time and see her son Charlie working there too. Missing your home cooking already x

Very friendly owner and nice food! I chose a mushroom sandwich (being vegetarian) and it was scrumptious!

In our falling in love with Scarborough summer this Cafe and the Hotel on the same street made it even better. We intend to return this year

The chips here are very nice but the place was very dirty. We also had to wait almost 15 minites for the chips. They where nice but need have spuds cut and be cleaner

Breakfast for £4 including tea, coffee and some of the best fried bread ever! Good quality ingredients and we will be back on our next visit

Mi sis y yo quería probar algún sitio nuevo para el almuerzo. Menú muy básico. Optamos por la carne picada y cebolla tarta. Servido con patatas fritas caseras y guisantes. La señora sirve fue muy amable. La comida era sorprendentemente bueno. Pero cuando miramos más de cerca vimos cómo inmundas era el lugar. Esto incluía el suelo bajo el mostrador, mobiliario, etc. pintura Cómo este lugar no ha sido inspeccionada por la salud ambiental es más allá de creencia. En todas partes y no necesita sólo una buena limpia, pero una minuciosa limpieza profunda. No me pareció que era especialmente buena relación calidad-precio. Sin duda no volveremos... nunca!!

Necesitábamos algo para comer con prisa ya que necesitábamos para prepararnos para ir al teatro al aire libre. Era casi la hora de cierre, pero la señora en el cuadro tostadas nos preparó el jamón, patatas fritas y una hamburguesa de huevo n para nosotros. Nada era demasiado problema para ella aunque ella también necesitaba para prepararse para el mismo concierto como nosotros. Patatas fritas y rodajas gruesas adecuada de jamón. Muy amable señora que nos cuidaba.

This was across the road from the apartment, the staff are so friendly. The food is a sensible price and of great quality and plenty of it.

I go here quite often, the food has always been good quality, the woman behind the counter who I presume is the owner is lovely, friendly and chatty. They are good value for money however it could do with a spring clean in the shop itself.

I eat at this cafe on a regular basis and I find the home cooking excellent. The food certainly tastes good and fresh. I will certainly be visiting in future and the value for money is good.I always ask what the special is of the day.

We had our breakfast there. Food was average, service chaotic, not very clean place. I wouldn't go back.

Very good service received, if your racing or visiting Scarborough you must get your breakfast or sarnies for the day here- very reasonable priced and fresh ingredients - old fashioned service but that's quality service x

A small café providing good food and very reasonable prices too. Owners very friendly. Ideal for people staying at the Cherry Trees Flats nearby.

Is nice and friendly breakfast/sandwiches place on the way to peasholm park. I was staying near the and didn't fancy the coffee from those little packets do popped along for a nice big mug of coffee. The staff are very friendly and all the food is freshly prepared. You can grab a takeaway or sit inside or even outside when the sun is out. Their prices are good too.

We were just passing and called in for a coffee but ended up having a panini and a sandwich. There was a wide choice of snacks all at a very reasonable price.The cafe is a bit out of the way but well worth seeking out.I am also told they do a very good roast dinner on Sunday's.

The Toast Box is right on the corner by all the Trafalgar Square B&Bs and near many on North Marine Road. It's quite small but never seemed too busy. The food is very cheap, not too fussy, fairly good and the cakes are nice. Its a relaxed atmosphere and probably the best value you will find. They also serve toast and a good cuppa. There's power sockets near the tables and they didn't seem to mind using it to charge my phone. A good place to take the weight of your feet on a rainy day and chill out for a while. The decor is a bit dated but I quite like the red and white check tableclothes. Its very good for solo visits.
