Had a few afternoon drinks and also stayed in one of their rooms. Room was clean and warm, which has shared facilities and is also dog friendly. Can't knock it for the price.

I was really annoyed to find when myself and my partner got back £120 that we had hidden had gone from our room and admittedly we took a kebab back so I left the room in a state because someone had robbed the room

We stayed here for one night never again the mattress was awful well past it i had springs poking me all night didn't sleep well at all.the decor the wall paper was coming away from the walls the room requires a very much needed make over

Stayed in a two bedroom room for one night, was great value for money and would use again in the future if we were to return. Can't comment on the food or drink as we ate out so was a good experience overall.

On a visit to the area called in to watch a rugby match (World Cup) opening night, asked to put tv on ,no problem & turned jukebox down for us. Made us very welcome, great bar staff 👍

black lion is short walk from train/bus station . we pass a wetherspoons on westborough to pass time with luggage till black lion opens then walk on past loads of shops and north st on left. the accomodation very CLEAN AND BASIC . we prefer family room as its worth paying extra ten pounds for big size of room. . no ensuite in any rooms. rooms on very short corridor and toilets and bathrooms at end of corridor. . we liked new carpet on stairs and staff were lovely . we have stayed here before and will again .

Stayed overnight with the kids, rooms are basic but more than adequate and most importantly they are clean. access is easy if pubs closed as its a separated access. If you want a luxury stay this isnt for you but if you want somewhere just to lay your head it's ideal. Parking nearby. Very good value for the money and I would definitely stay here again as the location is perfect for short walk to the front.

Stayed overnight as meeting friends in Scarborough. Room wasn't to bad the beds were very comfy. You get your money worth. Staff very friendly definitely going back as it's in the centre so very handy.

Just came for the night. But absolutely loved my room, staff are lovely will definitely book agen.

Stayed there on route to Bridlington! Room was lovely; plenty of coffee/ tea; bottle's of water! Bed comfortable; didn't mind sharing bathroom with other residents; didn't see/ hear them! Value for money! Staff very helpful 🙂

Beautiful clean rooms but noise of loud people im room next to mine made it impossible to sleep and I had my driving test the next morning 😭😭 Not the owners fault at all just super rude people staying next to me who wouldn't shut up until gone 3am even after I knocked on the wall. But would recommend staying here as most likely not going to be rude people here every night and it's a very well run pub/accommodation. (Personal wash basin and tea/coffee/kettle in the room was much appreciated)

Only used for a base in between visiting Scarborough to Filey, didnt eat or drink there, was literally just a bed for the night. Was comfy and clean and staff were friendly enough. Cree Blue Ribbon biscuits were a nice touch 😊😂

One the most friendliest pubs in Scarborough that has guess rooms ive been to the staff are very welcoming rooms are very cozy would recommend it to anyone

Not for us! I am rating 3x because overall the B&B offers everything you need but this is not for us. Good location with parking 3 minutes away (NCP Parking for less than £10 for 24hours) this is located in the old building so expect old furniture and finishes with old carpeted floor. The comments below are only to help other people rather than point the finger. Clean linen & towels, good amount of tea & yorkshire tea bags and bottled water, shared iron board and hair dryer available. Shared bathroom & toilet ( 2x separate toilet, 1x shower, 1x bath available but all very clean) they accept dogs. There are games for children available but I won't bring my child here! Located on the top of a lively pub (we had karaoke night, we couldn't hear the music but our room was facing the main entrance and you can hear people talking, drinking, shouting) we could hear people from next door. We stayed in room 1 and the window didn't close properly. We heard the seagulls all day and night to the point I couldn't deal with it anymore... Have no idea how people can live with these. Unbearable! Good value for what you get. Breakfast £8 extra, not top quality but good portions. Check in could be better. No information anywhere for residents. The lady was polity but she didn't explain things very well unless you ask. She even left me alone without telling me where to go, or the room number or where to find the room key (which is left on the door) etc. The pub itself it's very pretty. They have potential if they renovate the place.

This place is amazing lovely staff. Landlord is fantastic. Room was lovely beds were sooo comfy had lots of water coffee etc.

Nice pub but only had one real ale

If you are wanting a cheap stay in Scarborough this is the place for you . It may be basic but it is comfortable handy for the town and the helping we got for breakfast was better than anywhere in the town . Only one gripe, we couldn't fully close the window and woke in the night because the seagulls were having chorus rehearsals !

For me it felt like Deliverance meets The Hills Have Eyes.

Booked a very last minute 2 nights to Scarborough, with my 6 year old son. Didn't realise until I had booked that it was shared bathroom (I wouldn't normally book unless en suite). I then stupidly read reviews as I was looking to see if they provided towels. Which they do! & Soft fluffy white ones at that!! Our room was a twin. The beds so comfy & the linen lovely too. No funny smells & that is normally something that gets me, but pillows & duvet lovely. So quiet here. Totally undisturbed sleep for saying there's a pub downstairs, but all the rooms on the top floor. Wonderful tea & coffee facilities including biscuits! Totally recommend this place & my son says he gives it 10 our of 10!

My friend and I stayed overnight and travelled into Whitby. The staff were absolutely amazing and let us check out later than the stated check out time. The room was clean and comfortable, beds exceptionally soft and lots of tea, coffee, water and biscuits available in the room. We stayed for breakfast and wasn’t expecting much but it was ready and waiting for us when we came down from our room the breakfast was huge and set us up for the day. We will definitely be going back to stay here as it was everything we needed and more.

I found this pub on the Google maps. I honestly don't think I would have found it without the Google maps. This pub is hidden away in Scarborough town centre. Staff customer service skills were good. I was made to feel welcome. Decent selection of beers on the tap. Prices were reasonable. Tables were clean. Yes I would go in this pub again

Basic rooms with friendly staff. My room was small but very clean . Couple of small issues but nothing that would stop me booking again.

Stayed one night on a Friday, the karaoke went in to midnight which I find perfectly acceptable in a pub stay but may be off putting for some. The room was generally clean although could do with a good hoover, the style of carpet being ridged doesn't help with the visibly accumulated dust in the sink and dressing table area of the carpet. The twin mattresses were comfortable and the bedding was clean. It did feel a little cold in the bed near the window but it's obviously an old building so the windows probably have to remain original. Communal shower room was OK and shower was pretty hot and medium powered. Toilets need securing as the wobble about. There was items you could borrow if you needed in the hallway such as iron, hairdryer and children's books and toys which I thought was a nice touch. We were able to purchase drinks from the bar and take up to our room with our takeaway later on in the evening, the dressing table doubled up nicely to eat at as 2 chairs in the room. The only real downside was the carpet on entrance, very old, dirty and stunk like wet dog but I can look past that but definitely something for the owners to look to replace hopefully in the near future. Do not book if you have mobility issues as there are 2 flights of stairs to get to the accommodation. Overall, in my opinion a pleasant stay but wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea. For the price I was happy.

We booked this room online, adhering to a very tight budget. When we arrived our room wasn't ready but we were allowed to leave our bags whilst we went out exploring the surrounding area. The rooms are situated on the top floor and are basic, but clean. Although the rooms aren't ensuite the shared toilets are spotless and the shower is massive!!! The bar seemed busy and there were a few people enjoying their meals, although we didn't try them ourselves. There is a strange "wet carpet" smell on the staircase, which is slightly unwelcoming, and was concerning when we arrived as we wondered what the rooms were going to be like. Luckily as mentioned above, the rooms were clean. As we had to leave early in the morning, there was no facility for us to hand our room keys to anybody, so we left them in the door - not sure what else we could have done.

The staff and owners couldn't be more helpful, absolutely brilliant pub, great location, smashing room, great bed and dog friendly, loved my stay there

Lovley pub great owners down to eath people and also do breackfast and sunday meals and have outside areas lot going on there in the week and weekends well done barry & your wife

A very reasonably priced double room for an overnight stay - clean and convenient for the town and beach. A little bit of a squeeze for a double bed but very comfortable and value for money. Pay and display parking nearby. We appreciated the well stocked tea and coffee supplies in the room. The stairs (two flights) will keep you fit but it did mean that we were well above the pub so noise wasn't a problem.

Got served some truly disgusting pints. Bloke behind the bar got incredibly rude when asked for a fresh one. Not somewhere I intend to visit again.

Made mistake of turning right. Barmaid saw us said nothing carried on chatting to her mates, then started serving others in the left hand bar. Customer service zilch. Friendliness - contemptuous. Don't make the mistake of going in here.

The Black Lion as it says is a pub with accommodation, its not a hotel simples. The location is great 5 mins from the main town and car parking next door. The staff were very helpful, knowledgeable and on hand to deliver a top notch breakfast. Its price is excellent and it has a good old local feel about it which makes it a great place to stay. The room was comfortable, clean and spacious. yes the place is old but thats the beauty of the place hidden away. All in all g8 stay

This is a brilliant pub! Has a traditional pub feel to it. Very welcoming staff and friendly crowd too. It's your traditional pub, which is hard to find these days.

Don't bother if you are after a good real ale, all they had today was Tetley original, nothing else available, other than that there was the usual Larger and chemically induced drinks available I would like to make an update Time of my visit they were waiting a delivery, if you go at the appropriate time there should be a good selection of ales available

Stayed 1 night and found it to be clean and comfortable with friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable staff. Would stay again if I was in Scarborough.

Wont be returning. Smelly on arrival like foist, woodlouse in bed and when reported we werent even given a response never mind an apology. Far too noisy - should really advertised as adults only as the place was not suitable for my 7 year old (late night karaoke and music)

Great pub with great prices ! Friendly atmosphere amazing juke box in one bar and if you want a quiet time the lounge bar is comfy and quiet. Entertainment to suit most tastes. Nice rooms if you want to stay over all round typical pub .
