Giving one star cos there is no zero. Shitty management and staff. Price of drink keep changing every 30mins and when you what to find out what's going one ,they throw you out.

Been here for half an hour and still nobody have come round to clear the tables

Came back to Scarborough and went into sanctuary for some drinks and again was absoultly brilliant it wasn't busy but had a few in so was able to chat with two of the staff that were on names were Jordan and Chris both very happy cheerful and smiley they got chatting to us and having a great laugh the two make a great team and an asset to the bar thank you both

Spot on every time we come but this time on an afternoon which felt strange ha Steve on point with cocktails again. Only downside having to find somewhere for food Back soon

Came Into sanctuary with my friends and family to watch the game and what an experience it was the staff and management team that were on the bar where absoultly amazing very polite and trying to serve the best they could even if people where being VERY RUDE well done guys

Joined this bar to watch England play Switzerland. This venue has 2 tvs however 1 was not working. The one that was working kept freezing and lagging and none of the managers seem interested in this. It eventually resumed but was around 15 mins behind the surrounding pubs and most patrons had now resorted to watching on mobile devices. The 2 Jnr staff behind the bar were polite and apologetic for the very long ques and slow service. This was understandable on a game day. However also behind the bar were to staff sporting managers badges. These 2 individuals did not appear to have any grasp on the fact that the bar was getting clogged with people wanting drinks. In fact when one was questioned by a lady as to why he was tidying and not serving, the exchange seemed to get very heated very quickly which then culminated in the manager saying he would not serve the lady. This was at their discretion, however they then seemed to ask other staff not to serve the lady or anyone at the bottom of the bar thus slowing service further. In a later attempt to by a drink, whilst in a Que, this same manager had entered into a 2nd debate with a patron around there need to tidy and not help the Jnr staff members serve when the bar was busy. I would advise the owners to look into this as the attitude of this individual was counter productive to the very narrow window an England game offers to sell beer. Especially in a time when the bar and pub industry needs all the support they can in these hard times. Unfortunately we chose to leave before extra time to find a more welcoming and actively engaged venue.

Called in Saturday 15th late on wasn’t too busy when we entered but half hour later couldn’t move so was good timing to get to the bar. Staff very friendly with quick service was told a few were new starters but could not tell so must be trained right. Music was on point a mix of all sorts the DJ clearly has been around a while and not someone just off the street 👌 Overall we will be back cracking venue

Spectacular nightclub. Contemporary establishment. Very friendly people. Unfortunately, there was the editing of the published review made by me that is to do with the business, that had to get updated as requested urgently and immediately. The other DJ that now works there may be a very private person. He's an introverted fellow, but is still nice. He says: "You don't ask, I don't tell." "Keep your views and opinions to yourself." "I don't like public speaking." It is important for all other people around him to be mindful, respectful, very considerate, and very thoughtful of his boundaries. He doesn't like mixing with unknown people. Although, the staff know that all clients have still got the right and powers of theirs to express themselves publicly, without interruption. 👍😁

Attended venue for private party and could not access due to lift not working and being in a wheelchair. Very very disappointed not a disabled friendly place.

Got told they don’t actually do it… contrary to the images of food all over this profile. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Reply to owner: There are food pictures and comments in reviews, images of dishes on this business profile and it lists food as a service you provide and literally lists individual dishes you serve.

Had 2for1 cocktails in this stunning bar, great service and lovely decor. Would recommend for a classy night out.

On a very wet day in Scarborough, it was a refuge from the weather. A bit out of the way from the main shopping centre, not very busy but staff very helpful and dog friendly. I

Nice place, staff are really friendly and helpful. Drink prices were good. Was excellent until there resident dj was on. Absolutely shocking. Never seen a place go from great to appalling so quickly.

!!Winners!! Won a competition on Facebook and just happened to be in Scarborough that night!! 2 free Cocktails and 2 free Pizzas!! We always use it as our Local when we’re in town anyway but this made our Trip!! Loved the Fireworks on the Beach, had a Bumper haul from the 2p’s machines, few Beers in a Pub we’ve never been before and free Grub in the Sanctuary!! Heaven!! Looked busy with a Party upstairs but still great service from start to finish!! Highly recommended!! Great job!!

I hired the upstairs area for a Halloween party. The food was good, plenty for everyone, they even got us fries and salad. Big space and could put our own music. The bartender Arik was really great, super nice and made great drinks!

Walked in on a Sunday lunch and was a little suspect on why it's was so quiet. Anyway, quiet is good. Despite sticking to the floor near the bar, the place looked really clean and tidy. Bar man efficient and polite. Went to sit near the kitchen end and was greeted with classical music blaring out, which conflicted with the music playing also in the pub. Not to worry because we sat over by the exit window instead. I had the pulled beef spicy burger and my husband had the Cajun chicken. Food came in good time, looked lovely, hot and tasty. Chips were great and well seasoned. Onion rings were fab. I couldn't find much pulled beef, mostly the cheese, a sauce and jalapenos, but still nice. Both burgers were deal price of two for £15, can't fault 😊

Should be a 5* my favourite bar in Scarborough. Unfortunately took too long for the cocktails even though it was dead & needed reminding a couple of times. Shame.

Delicious food & drinks. Would definitely go back. The cocktails are especially good. The decor in the place and the bathrooms are beautiful, the service is fast. Overall a lovely place!

Is a nice pub, has a room upstairs where you can rent out for parties. We were there for a hen do and the staff were really friendly, polite and helpful. We had the room upstairs for pre drinks and food where we decorated with balloons and tinsel. Then we left to see a show and on returning to the pub they sectioned off 2 booths putting the balloons on the table. The drinks were reasonably priced cocktails were 2 for £12. The DJ played decent music which we had a good boogie to. You had to pay £3 to entre after 11pm. The dj checked everyone's id, but felt alot of the people were really young. Would go here again.

We went in for some food, the bar was empty but the staff were very friendly. We had 2 pizzas, the offer was 2 for £15. The pizzas were excellent, as good as we've had in years, very impressed!

We ordered food at bar. After a long wait (3 rounds of cocktails) we asked when our food was coming and found out it had been forgotten about. Around 15 minutes after this the two wraps arrived however one was meat based. I informed the server this was incorrect as we were both vegetarian. We were forced to eat separately as the correct meal did not arrive until another 15 minutes after this. The place seems very understaffed. Did not see a single table wiped in the entire time we were there. I work in hospitality myself and understand mistakes happen however we did not receive an apology during the entirety of our bad experience.

Food was delicous, cocktails were fab and the staff were lovely. However no toilet roll in any of the cubicles and untidy bathrooms let it down, would have been 4/5 stars otherwise.

We have 2 Bedlington Terriers and it was great to beable to sit with our dogs with out people watching us and mumbling that they shouldnt be allowed in here the bar staff were helpfull and friendley and gave me water for our dogs without us having to aske for it

Sadly after waiting for just over an hour for my tuna salad sandwich; I felt let down when presented with tuna in bread; without any salad or any form of butter on the bread.. just 2 slices of white bread and a minimal spread of tuna.. I have given 1 star for the food today.. the other star was for the the bar staff who despite being understaffed, did their very best.. I will give sanctuary another chance in a weeks time..

I don't know what it's like at night probably buzzing, but we went for a Christmas drink at lunchtime. Sadly the barman was to say the least disinterested put a bit of a damper on things but hey ho just have another cocktail that's what I say.

Clean , lovely staff , good beer- popped in for a light lunch- and it was great , def would go back 👍🏻

Unreal, the metal dragon above the dancefloor is breathtaking, having 7 separate rooms with different music is such a good vibe for a night out, everything you can every want for a full night of fun all in one place, they even have uni professors on site to help you with your uni work while having a pint, I couldn't believe it, best nightclub in the world by far

May have been better had there been more people, it was very quiet with no atmosphere.

Although it was a quiet Monday evening we found that the staff were friendly and helpful, the food was excellent.

Food was ok, not the best or worst. The bar is visually nice but everything was slightly run down and sticky! Floors, tables, bar! The toilets weren't great either. Plus side was it was dog friendly and lots of space.

Thus place really is a sanctuary. In the heart of the town, friendly and inviting with good food and excellent service. Dogs welcome!

Visited again. A warm welcome from the staff. Plenty to choose from over the bar. Had something to eating and it didn't take long to arrive. Very tasty food.

Popped in for some food and drinks prior to a gig and found it very welcoming and a nice place for some grub. Staff are very friendly, the prices are not excessive and the food was very nice. I actually got given an incorrect dish but this was very quickly rectified by the staff which was great to see. Overall, very nice and would go again if in Scarborough in the future.

The food was lovely, excellent service and they offered us a bowl of water for our dog! However, they were out of pizzas which we came here for, hence only 4 stars.

A great place for a pint and a catch up with friends. Well laid out, comfortable seating. Good range of beers available. Prices are reasonable. Staff are all friendly and helpful.

Lovely little bar, friendly staff & reasonable prices! But oh my word don’t order food, paid just short of £10 for a toasted tortilla with some salad and FOUR cubes of chicken breast that weren’t even seasoned! Definitely let itself down there, absolute waste of money

Great atmosphere and lovely food

Service can be slow but the cocktails are worth the wait.

Nice looking venue. However service terrible. Twenty minute for waiter without even seeing the menu, and then informed no burgers left. Waited 40 minutes for food and even then only 2 out of 3 orders delivered at same time. We did complain and where given complimentary drinks. This did not compensate for the wait of ONE hour for food, and the pizza's when they arrived where mediocre. Disappointed I'm afraid and as a new resident of Scarborough I'm not sure I can forgive this restaurant.

While in Scarborough I usually visit Santuary. Great, friendly staff and cometative prices for quality drinks. Easy check in and kept very clean. Love this bar.

Lunchtime snack quickly delivered to table. Well organised Covid measures, decent priced drinks, friendly service.

First time we've been out since everything reopened and thought we would take a weekend away to Scarborough. On arrival we registered our details for track and trace and was told about the table service rules which have been put in place. The cocktails are the best I've ever had and I'm 41. Special recommendation is the Pink Gin-tini they are to die for! Will be returning next year as we felt very safe and looked after by the staff here.

Great bar, got seated in one of the booths for drinks and food. Only issue we had was it was hard to call staff over when you were ready for another drink. Maybe a app is needed?

Visited this bar/restaurant on Saturday and the service was ridiculous. First off we just got told to go find a table upstairs where we noticed others were actually getting taken to a table upstairs. We were asked if we were there for food or drinks we said both, twice somebody came to take our order without even giving us a menu to look at first. Table service was the worst I’ve encountered so far waited what seemed for ever for our drinks for them to come up wrong and then when my partner asked how long food was going to be the waiter simply just walked off ignoring him. Nobody was upstairs in the bar area waiting to see if any of the tables there required more drinks or service instead they would just pop there heads up the stairs every now and again have a quick look and go back down no kind of ‘service’ at all. We were going to order another drink after we had eaten however given the wait the first time and the fact that nobody even came to see if we wanted another drink we left the establishment feeling very dissatisfied. Will not be returning.

Popped in for a drink on the afternoon of my birthday. Everything clean, tidy and totally COVID on point. Locks in the Ladies loos need sorting though! Friendly young lad at the bar serving. Awesome cocktails - I decided to pace it - I wish I hadn't bothered and stayed here for the duration!

Good quality food. Not a huge choice, but enough, and helpful friendly staff. Had our own cubicle, 3 of us with our 2 dogs. Covid rules were followed. Had nice meal and drinks. Good location.

Enforcing Covid rules in the bar but toilets are (can I say?) awful. Tried 4 cubicles before I found one that, either had a lock, or would actually lock! Bins overflowing and even though I told staff, 1 hour later they still hadn’t been emptied.

Service was very slow and had to wait over 1 hour for food.. Overall food was good

Went when eat out to help out was on, so cheap. Food was a while coming and ok. Onion rings were well rings yes but lacking onion and over cooked.

In sanctuary the customer service was 10/10 lewis at the front desk was so welcoming. Very good run bar/pub. The assistant manager has kept all the bar backs/bar staff on form. Massive credit to her and the members of staff working tonight (5th September).

We have just came back from our second visit to Scarborough and we opted to come back to this bar again. First time we came i got the fish and chips which were really really nice, the second time we visited i got the bbq chicken burger and that was quite possibly the nicest burger i have ever tasted. The BBQ chicken pizza looks to die for too. Both times we have been greeted by pleasant staff, very welcoming and friendly too. Nice trendy bar/restuarant and a really nice pint too. Will definitely be returning.

we have just returned from scarborough and we went in this bar a few times we had the cajun chicken it was better than nandos and the prices are great value too.the staff are pleasant and it was very covid safe contact numbers taken and cleaning regular so well done we will be back next time in the area

I visited this venue twice during 3-night stay in Scarborough. Very tastefully decorated interior, drinks and food prices were resonable. Southern Fried Chicken Wrap is delicious! Also found the venue to be very clean. Definitely worth a visit.

£4.15 for a can of Red Stripe during the covid 19 period,pubs have only just re-opened a week ago ...::this place will go out of business very quickly at them prices,4 cans for £5 at home ?
