Pleasant little coffee bar found to the right of The Rotunda museum at the bottom of the slope leading to The Grand Hotel. Seating available both inside and out with lovely views of the bridge and to the sea. Clean and surprisingly spacious seating inside. Very nice coffee, hubby the coffee snob enjoyed it. Staff pleasant and efficient.

First café in Scarborough to be granted an outside licence in 1992 for a pavement café. So, yes, it does have outside seating. Great view of South Beach, the bridge and Blue Roundabout. It's right next door to the Rotunda Museum (currently closed). Home made soups. Pleasant staff. Original artworks on walls for sale. I had the two cheese salad and a spiced orange tea. Plentiful portion size. Would revisit. No card payments, cash only establishment and there are no toilets on the premises.

Four of us arrived for early lunch. We ordered a BLT on brown bread. Then we asked if they did a gluten free BLT. They did, so we ordered one, also on brown. It took three attempts to explain we were ordering a normal BLT and an ordinary BLT. She just wasn't listening, but she finally got the message. We then ordered a cheese and ham panini and a cheese panini. When the food came, she brought two ham and cheese panini and was very rude, insisting that was what we ordered. Why would we do that when one was for a VEGETARIAN? I accept anyone can make a mistake but to keep insisting that was what was ordered with a shake of head and roll of eyes was unacceptable. The order was eventually corrected but it was too late. LISTEN to your customers in the first place.

Went to this “cafe” this morning, my friend ordered off of the Gluten free menu, as her order arrived she realised there was butter on her toast, she kindly asked if she could have it without due to also being dairy free. The man who had “cooked” the breakfast tried to argue with her stating “everybody has butter on toast” he sighed and called her a stupid bitch. Completely unacceptable, no apology and a lesson in customer service really is required. Very disappointed. My review on facebook and the response which is appalling. They have hidden the review.

I visit this coffee shop every time I go to Scarborough. Usually we just have a coffee and a cake. On our last visit we had a toasted sandwich and a drink. The food was nice although the salad which I think was added for a decoration, had lettuce that was going brown and piece of cucumber at least an eighth of an inch thick. Luckily we don't like salad so we left it On ordering the toasters sandwich we learn that we had to pay extra to have it toasted,an extra 65p each. It does state on the menu underneath the sandwiches that you have to pay extra for toasting but when you are looking it's quite easy to miss. I just feel toasted sandwiches should be listed separately as it is in most cafe's. it would be less confusing to an already busy menu. Plus people wouldn't get to the till and wonder why you're being charged extra

My husband waited ten minutes and paid £4.50 for a "Yorkshire Ham and Cheese Sandwich". As per the photo, this involved two slices of standard white bread, one slice of what very much looked and tasted of wafer thin packet ham and three small oblongs of basic cheese. No salad and no dressing. I appreciate that you pay a premium near the seafront, but rarely have we felt so overcharged and duped bu a description. Also no toilets, which I thought was illegal when serving food.

Just got of the park and ride bus, needed loo and a drink. Spotted lovely looking cafe across the road bought two coffees and told no loo. My hubby was told nearest was arcade on Scarborough front, half an hour later tired he returned. We were offered by young guy to warm his coffee up but a loo would have been better. On querying isn't it against the law to serve food with no facilities were told only if alcohol was served and the building was a listed building. Wonder where the staff go if they need loo? The arcade on the front provided lovely BLT, coffee and loo better to go there.

Visited on a nice sunny September afternoon. Ordered cappuccinos and cakes to sit outside to admire the view over Scarborough. The cakes were lovely but cappuccinos lukewarm. Told the 2 staff who took umbridge at our comments. They said they do the coffee to the correct temperature of 55 degrees and perhaps the coffee got cold in the 30 seconds we walked from inside to outside. I don't know what the temperature should be, all I know is that it wasn't hot enough. Also no customer toilets, I thought it was law that all cafes had customer toilets!

Excellent place to meet up for lunch, especially if some of you are attending something at the Spa. This was the first cafe to ask Scarborough Council for outside seating and on sunny days it's wonderful. But they have tables inside and a wall full of tempting snacks, lunches and deserts. Although it's only counter service, I yet to be there when they have been unable to accommodate a customer's needs (and we've been going there several years, attending a conference at the Spa).

Had a nice coffee, paninni and sandwich at the Gala coffee bar, away from the madding crowd milling around the centre of Scarborough. On the way up from the Rotunda Museum to the town is this little 'arch' cafe nestling in the lee of the Spa bridge, and overlooking the sands of South Bay. Its major disadvantage is that there's no facility for a comfort break whilst there.

Called in today after looking at this little cafe perched on the side of the Rotunda museum hill for a while now. Its sat in a lovely position although not great for wheelchairs or people who have working difficulties. They do a basic menue which is ok, the staff were quite pleasant, But I can't say there was anything that stood out about the cafe, The food and coffee were nice, the coffee wasn't bad at all considering an earlier review I read, the whloe experience was just a basic cafe meal, One notable thing was there is no Toilet and I think this day and age every food establishment should have toilet facilities, There is a sign saying you can use the one next door at the Museum but in my mind, thats not really acceptable nowadays, All I can say about the place is it was Ok.

I used to love the coffee here, but it seems to have changed hands recently. My latte today was so awful I couldn't drink it. It tasted as though it had been made with stale beans, in a cafetière. I don’tknow if this place is any good. After 15 minutes waiting at the bar, only 1 person got served - by the 2 staff. The 1 ‘serving’ then left 6 of us waiting and went outside to wipe down tables. Rude, surly, we up and left.

We had the unfortunate "luck" of spending a night at this place. Got a "suite" under the creaky flooring of the pub with noise-channelling ventilation ducts overhead, a substandard kitchen with no cupboards and wobbly table, a toilet with no ventilation, exposed pipes and disjointed faucet and a door with no handle in sight... All this came with a delayed check-in and service that leaves much to hope for. While the rooms above the pub may make for a better night's sleep, there is little hope that could improve this establishment's culture of hospitality.
