The Tilly Shilling, Farnborough in Rushmoor

Went for brunch with the family , got a table even though very busy, easy to order , very good prices, great food and friendly staff. Will be returning

Excellent pub, staff were very friendly and helpful, breakfast was served very quickly and was hot and very tasty. We also went back for drinks and lunch, will be visiting again. Thank you to all involved.

I've eaten here on a few occasions and have experienced the same issue twice now. Gourmet sirloin steak usually good value for money but twice recently the chips have been at best luke warm and soggy giving me the impression they were part of a larger portion cooked earlier and just left sitting in the basket on the fryer, detracted from the enjoyment of the meal. Also I have once ordered a drink and a meal at the bar assuming the drink would be included on the price of the meal, but it seems I paid the full price for the meal as if a drink had been included and then the drink added on top. I wasn't offered and didn't think I needed a receipt but I wont be caught like that again. Shame that a couple of incidents have given me a poor impression of an otherwise great establishment.

Visited for a late lunch/early dinner quite a few times over the last month. As previously reported I always order on the app which generally works ok. Drinks and food always arrive promptly and staff have always been polite, although some friendlier than others I wouldn't say any of them are rude. Some popular meals ordered weekdays between 2 and 5 pm attract a discount and one of my favourites the all day brunch is only just over £5.00 with a soft drink. I also find the sirloin steak an enjoyable meal, this is discounted on a Tuesday. My final recommendation is the Katsu chicken curry which is available breaded or grilled, again very enjoyable. Well done to all staff.

What the hell Wetherspoons? What gave you done to these Staff? I popped in for a quick bite on business and was astounded. Ordered a pint of Sam Miguel and a Beef Madras. Pint was slammed down on the table by a disinterested server, turning the table into a liquid feature. Food arrived with a sullen "madras". Ok I didn't expect five star dining - the Currey itself was alright, but the rice was poorly presented and the Naan stale. Went up to order another pint after. Exceptionally slow service and the barmaid clearly wanted to be anywhere else. What have you done to these Staff?

As usual great value for your money the food is great value too the mix grill is great value. But the only downside to this Wetherspoons is you can be waiting a while to get served. 5/10

As always the drinks are nice and cheap but I would say that some times you can be waiting for drinks a while which can be annoying but it can’t be helped as sometimes they are understaffed the food isn’t bad for it’s value 5/10

Stayed at the Travelodge next to the Tilly Shilling in Farnborough this weekend. Dined at the Tilly Shilling Sunday night and found it to be a clean well managed and maintained pub. The food I had which was half roast chicken, mash and peas with a pint of Worthington's top was excellent. Very nicely cooked and plenty of it. Ordered on the app from my table and didn't have to wait long, the beer came almost immediately followed shortly after by the food. Staff were friendly and it was an all round good atmosphere. Went back in the morning for breakfast which was equally impressive. The staff look happy there and the kitchen staff showed they had pride in their job by the quality of food that was coming out. Well done everyone..!

Visited several times now , always order drinks and food on the app and they always arrive promptly . Seems busy most evenings but we’ve always been able to find a table . Food more than acceptable for the price, recommended.

Very understaffed there is always a queue you can be waiting for a drink a good 10 minutes or more specially if there is only one serve in at the bar and they’re having to order food and drinks sometimes it can be to be are in the bar for one of them is serving for people who are ordering from the app they haven’t got a good system running very poor 3/10

Very quiet about 5 tables soon realised why. No clean tables plates glasses still on them. Food took twenty minutes to arrive good with that, not happy with staff members stood around chatting.

I never review places however this hellhole is so disgusting it has to be done. AVOID!! Never in my life have I been treated so poorly. Absolutely disgusting attitude from ALL staff. Bayley, Harvey, Liam, and the rest I didn’t get their names! I have come here about 10 times before as it is my local, and this one time is the tipping point! The bar staff never say hello they never talk they only ask what you want and looked bored while they make it. No hospitality skills from any of them! And yet they always have time to to be talking amongst themselves! Especially about customers! So rude. I Heard a bar staff (some guy with curtains) making jokes about a disabled guest! Not to mention that they also seem to always be here on their days off it’s really rather unprofessional. They sit in their little clique just talking badly about everyone and it’s a bit more aggressive when they’re drinking, it’s hideous and poor management is evident. Spoons sort it out !! The food is also inedible, tasteless microwave meals but that’s common within spoons so I’ll leave it at that, it’s the staff that needs to be sorted out. Cheap drinks okay I get it, spoons is affordable and basic I really get it, but a “hello how are you” instead of ignorance would go a very very long way. If I was the manager the staff would have been FIRED and replaced long long ago.

Not a bad place and very busy on Monday night, several contractors in which in itself is not a problem until they become lubricated. One group got a bit loud, to the point the shouting stopped the bar in its chatter. Sadly, the loud mouth was outside by hotel room window gobbing off again. Never mind the world seems full of them. The food was not bad but i did wonder if there was more to come!!

Poor, poor food poor service rude staff dirty looking chef, just grim. Cold food. Won’t be returning

It's just a normal spoons but the servers are nice and they do good drinks and ok food. Bouncers have been a bit weird sometimes but not the places fault I guess 🤣

Good food at Good prices, nice and hot. Clean tables and highchairs. Baby changing needs signs to tell you where they were. A member of staff finally directed me to the end cubicle of the female toilets, wouldn't have found it otherwise.

Possible the worst spoons in the UK.been working in the area for a few months.the staff are trained to be robot's with no manners;just a please or thankyou as you pay wouldn't go a miss.Ypu order your food and sometimes comes without items on the menu if you ask its basically erm not got any peas mango chuntey so enjoy.dont get me started on asking for a stella glass if you go to the bar you get one order on the app no chance so when four blokes order different pints but come in the same glasses it's hit and miss if you get yours without trying all pints rant over sack the lot

We visited here for lunch today and it was very busy. We got a good table and ordered lunch via the app. When our drinks arrived we were warned the wait for food would be 25 minutes! This was a first for us as at any Wetherspoons we've previously visited (there are a lot!) we'd never waited more than ten minutes. Never mind. We finished our drinks and ordered more. Our food finally arrived after 45 minutes! To say it was disappointing would be an understatement. The chicken breast bites looked as though they'd been left over from yesterday and then were put in the fryer again today. Sadly not for long enough as they were cold in the middle but the batter was orange. The sticky soy sauce was lacking in quantity and only enough to dip 2 nuggets. The bbq chicken pizza was ok but missing the rocket (not a big deal there). All in all it was very disappointing and we won't be returning there. Aldershot Queens Hotel is 100 times better and the Tilly Shilling comes second to last in our ratings only pipped to the post by Winchester which was absolutely dire.

I love weatherspoons and have been to loads and always tell everyone how good everything is. I don’t know if this one was short staffed but really slow, run out of doombar with limited other choices. Person behind bar could not offer any advice and seemed stressed and didn’t offer tasters. Guiness poured short measure and tables were sticky and not very clean mid evening. Not awful but not a place I would go again or a weatherspoons I would recommend

Absolutely fantastic value for money. Our family of five had lunch here for £40. The burgers were very good as were the salads. I used the app to order which works very well all the staff were very polite and efficient.Good mix of customers young and old.

Went for dinner and drinks with a friend must say great value for money we used table service and the food arrives prompt and was very nice at not cold like some other weather-spoons I have been to friendly staff who were rushed of there feet but still manger to wipe down all the tables we recommend

Was in the area for an expo and staying in the Travelodge above so figured the easiest option for drinks and eats was here. Genuinely impressed by the care and attention out into the food here. It's also clear the beers are well looked after...

Two nights in a row we came in here as staying at the Travelodge whilst visiting Farnborough for the Fully Charged Live show. Exceptional service from staff especially compared to most Wetherspoons. The food was much better cooked than most Wetherspoons, no delays on food...

Came here Saturday evening as very poor experience at the Beefeater across the road. Was busy inside yet the staff ran it like a well oiled machine. Food was ok for what we paid, staff efficient and polite, security checking ID, good job all round.

Hit by a stale and mustie smell when you enter. The fact that the flooring at the front of the bar and hot plate has been removed didn't help with the smell and atmosphere. Tried to use the app to order food, ordered 2 meals...

A great place to be in Farnborugh, cheap drinks and beer. Staff is friendly, you may find some guest a bit special, but that's the charm about it. We went there serveral times and had a great time every time=)

I visited earlier in the month on two successive nights as I was staying in town for work.My details weren't collected for track and trace and there were clearly groups in breach of social distancing.My hotel was above the Tilly Shilling and I could hear trouble with drunks that the venue took no effort to address.How is this pub still open while breathing the laws regarding covid 19?

10 of us all family including 3 children popped in one sunny Sunday afternoon. We moved as far away from other people as we were such a large group. The table we chose easily accommodated us all so we sat down. The female manager appeared accusing us of moving chairs around! We hadn’t but 5 of us agreed to move to a table near by. At some point one of the children and an adult swapped tables, but still on the 2 tables we were all sat. The manager appeared again telling us that we weren’t to be served anymore drinks as we were clearly unable to behave ourselves! I know it’s Covid times but surely staying with family on 2 tables is allowed wherever we sat? We found the staff pretty miserable and the manager clearly needs a lesson is her people skills? Overall a pretty miserable visit.

The lady bouncer and manager here both behaved rude and unprofessional during my visit. Shouting comments at customers as they were leaving. Disgusting way to behave.

A good feed in this pub, well priced, typical weatherspoons pub prices. Plenty of beers on tap, friendly service, but we were having a good time one night and got told to keep it quiet! Its a pub, relax! If we're having a good time smile and enjoy it!Fail on your behalf on this front!

Stayed in Farnborough for an exhibition at the airport conference centre. Myself and 7 colleagues visited the Wetherspoons, quick service via the app and great section of beers. Food is basic, no complaints, just basic.

Typical Weatherspoons, cheap and cheerful. The food was ordered online while sitting in the bar. Good service by very able staff. The only complaint is that on receiving our starter, it was followed shortly by the main course.

The menu shows a big selection for various things. As you have to order at the bar it is a bit complicated to ask for a certain order if you have more people to order for.So the scrambeld eggs (on slightly burned toast) arrived earlier than the porridge or the fruits.But the quality was good and the service quite friendly despite the jam-packed restaurant.

Come here often- mainly for food but also had a few drinks here. I usually pay by the app because the bar area can get pretty busy. Recently got the small breakfast- the speed was so quick and there's great staff in there! Big shout out to Hillary who is very friendly and is always lovely when I go in there. Pizza is particularly good too! And the chicken wings!!

We are fond of this restaurant for the atmosphere and good value. Also it is very useful that the calories are given--so its possible to watch your weight. Good variety of basic grub. Great for a relaxed meet with friends.

My husband and I were staying at the travelogue above the restaurant. We had a steak dinner each and a few drinks. The food was lovely and the staff were really lovely. I liked the decor of the place, which was quite busy. It was excellent value and good being able to order on our app at the table. Would definitely go back x

This is a great place if you are looking for a decent pub, depending on the day it can be fairly busy. Overall the food is average, not anything special and many alcoholic drinks to offer. The breakfast is amazing and very outstanding by far the best of their dishes. It is a very loud atmosphere most of the time but can sometimes be quite quiet. This is a family friendly pub as it has a children’s menu from ages 2+.

As I was staying at travelodge which is above the Tilly Shilling I went for my breakfast there. Had the traditional breakfast with there great black pudding as a extra and unlimited tea or coffee for the miserly some of 6pound 15pence a bargain. Staff were very friendly if I'm in Farnborough again will definitely be back thanks Witherspoons once again.

Had breakfast at the Tilly Shilling on our most recent visit to Farnborough as we’ve done in the past and yet again it didn’t disappoint the food is always good and the staff always pleasant and helpful the service and food is always consistent here and we always look forward to our visits to the Tilly Shilling it’s well worth a visit.

The pub nice and clean, toilets very clean.

Outside and in typical large wetherspoons, you know what your getting. Cheap drinks, fight for the seating, random bouncer in the cubicle watching you but with this being a new build you don't have to say farewell to your family before you embark on a trip to the toilet like Bear Grylls. I live quite far away, I have a wetherspoons local to me, I have frequented it on many weekends, same with the ones in London and elsewhere. Farnborough however is the only one that I have been refused drinks after five or so pints, so proud they are of this record they do it on every occasion. In the end that 6 monthly night out with your mates ends in a climate of fear over who has dared to slur a sentence in a pub....a pub. The locals probably use it as a starter and the venue will be happy with that, do not plan your night here or you will end up bitter like me and never return

I make the trip reasonably regularly up to Farnborough to drink here as it's better than the nearer Camberley Weatherspoon pub. The range of beers is usually OK and staff are friendly enough, although they need more of them clearing and cleaning tables. I have eaten here, but not lately, and it is decent enough pub grub, especially at meal deal prices. Does what is says on the tin. Cheap beer and food.

We went there for a food since we were staying at travelodge. When we tried to ask one staff about food and timings she was extremely rude, infact one of the rudest encounters so far.

I come here alot to drink and eat this place is good for cheap drinks and it also great for bringing the family and it doesn't cost alot so I would say to people to come here and bring the family

One thing you can say about Spoons is they are consistent. Consistently cheap, consistently dirty tables and consistently greasy poor quality food.

the reason I come to this pub is for it,s amazing choice of real ales..i work in retail which is really stressful and when I come here I can relax and have a great time..the tilly has got a great staff and I fully appreciate all they do..the food has always been to high standard...thankyou guys.

Visited witherspoons tilly shilling in Farnborough for breakfast as I was staying nearby. Breakfast was really good and washed down with unlimited tea or coffee for 1pound 30pence what a bargain. Staff were really friendly will definitely visit again.

Your typical wetherspoons, busy, good value, and effient. Nice central location,in middle of town. 5mins from station.

We are staying in the area and had lovely breakfasts here this morning with good staff so we assumed it would be wise to return this evening. Wrong! We ordered food and drinks at the bar and I asked the member of staff if a drink was included with the childs meal and her response was "yeah but you didn't ask me". Is it too much trouble to ask a customer what drink they would like when they know it's included in the price of a meal? Having ordered and paid at the bar, shortly afterwards 2 members of staff came to our table. I thought they were going to say we had ordered something which wasn't available so we were astonished when they said they had forgotten to charge for the cheese on one of the garlic pizza breads and asked for 50p! One member of staff went to the bar ran the 50p charge through the till then came back to the table to collect the 50p. It seemed disorganised and we got the feeling that everything just seems like too much effort for some of the staff. No more evening visits for us.

Used tithe Wetherspoons app to order our delicious Pizzas & drinks. Only small problem was some drinks and extras didn’t appear on the app. Generally a very good pub.

Stopped by last min for some food with a buddy, used the mobile app to order and i can honestly say its the fastes food i have ever had, by the time my mate had ordered his food by the bar mine was at the table Awesome service.

Met up here with some retired colleagues. Arrived just before noon, so I was able to order the Gluten Free breakfast. Arrived quickly, and very tasty it was too.

Arrived just before midday to meet up with friends and managed to order breakfast before the cut off. In the past I’ve usually ordered a Traditional Breakfast but am now a convert to one of their new offerings, Miners Benedict - good value at £4.80 with unlimited hot drink. Sampled a few pints of the different ales on offer and service at the bar was quick (think a lot of customers now use the ‘Spoons App to get table service). Had to move tables after a while as a family with loud and annoying kids arrived - why can’t parents control their offspring?!

The pizza was thin crusty. The atmosphere was lively and fun. Great value and great drinks and friendly staff and quick service.

I am an avid supporter of Witherspoons, great value always. Tonights curry night was not so good. Curry served without mango chutney as they had run out, not acceptable on curry night. No one asked if our meals were ok, this normally happens but not tonight. One other problem, two serving at bar, when prople order by the app, they stop serving and cater for the app orders, surely if you offer this service you should put staff in place to attend to the app orders.

I would actually gibe 4 and 1/2 stars. The 1/2 star would be lost because my food was waiting on the pass for a short while being ignored by the staff and the serving staff made no attempt to ask whether my food was ok and if everything was alright. Small things but they all add to the experience. However they were the only negatives. I was a bit sceptical but I decided to risk the Wetherspoons app. Order at the table and not have to queue. I was glad to be proved wrong. Within a minute of me placing my order I had my drink.My other 2 courses also came in a quick time. They were very busy too. My food was pretty good to, definitely value for money. I was also eating on my own and I didn't feel out of place. Thank you such good experiences are rare.

Love going in here before a cinema trip or fast food - I have always liked what I have ordered and it is well cooked and hot. Not a quiet place but we choose it for the right reasons.

Believe me, if I could give it a zero I would. Rude dismissive staff, and to top it off a dead fly floating in my drink and no replacement given.

Have eaten here a few times before and most of time the food is nice. It's general pub food and is good value for money.

Visited after a hot day at the Watercress Railway. There is a young lady who, apart from being a pretty girl according to my son, was very nice, polite, went out of her way to help my toddler & even showed me how the coffee machine worked. Food was hot & came quickly. We live 50 miles away but this has to be the best Wetherspoons that I’ve visited.

Rude stuff blonde lad so lad blasted my ears. I ordered medium rare i got a creamated piece of meat looking like dog meet! Manager could not be bother to appologies only said she ll let them know

Okay, I would not generally go to a witherspoons by choice but I am glad I did. After a day on your feet in an exhibition, you need comfortable, quick, tasty food, reasonably priced drinks so you can numb yourself before bed ! 100% ! The place is large, comfortable seating, I even downloaded the W App so I did not have to go to the bar and order. I chose the ribs and a JD and coke, ribs were fantastic, Jacket potatoe was fluffy and hot, loads of butter and the JD was cheap. Food was really good. Quick and attentive service despite being packed, there are a few up market eateries that could learn a thing or 2 from Witherspoons. Well done, I felt welcome, comfortable, I was fed well and the whole experience was not expensive !

I had an enjoyable meal and a few very well kept pints of ale in here one evening, Service was fairly quick too. Recommended as a place to eat and/or drink in a town centre that didn't seem to offer very many choices.

Staying at Tbe Alexandra, a very short walk. Using their app made the experience even more pleasant, including simple invoicing with a VAT receipt.

Another good Spoons, you know what you're getting and it is excellent value for money, staff re good and there is a lot of aviation history on display.

This is what you would expect from a Wetherspoon. Cheap prices and a good range of drinks. Didn’t try the food but plenty were eating so couldn’t be all that bad.

I had a steak tuesday with scampi. The steak for the first time in ages was done to perfection medium rare. The scampi was juicy and very hot, whiskey sauce very tasty.

Used the Tilly Shilling for food and drink many times over the years. Always been served fairly quickly, even when very busy. Staff are generally nice and friendly and do their best to serve. Food is basic cuisine, but I have always found it to be served well cooked and hot. Not as cheap as some Wetherspoons public houses, but still reasonable. Note: children are not allowed to stay in the pub past 21.00 and your are restricted to two drinks per adult if you have children with you. I believe this is across all Wetherspoon pubs and not just the Tilly Shilling.

Whilst shopping popped in here for a Coffee break, It was very busy but got served quickly by a smart young man who was well spoken and polite. Learnt who Tilly Shilling was and what an important part she played in the development of the Spitfire.

Having visited many different Wetherspoons in many towns and cities, o like this one best. Breakfast is always fresh and tasty too

Decided to stop for Sunday dinner after shopping with the family.

We popped in for lunch, but as before many tables still with dirty plates and nobody cleaning. No diet Monster and so few staff the place is looking very tacky now. No espresso cups you have to have espresso out of a mug!

Average weatherspoons cheap booze average food but very greasy. Bar staff not too bad which always makes a venue.

Excellent steak for the money. Five pints for eleven quid...you xant go wrong. As spoons go this is a good one. Clean , polite staff, great service, attention to detail.

I am you can literally expect the level standard for Wetherspoons. At this location I have always received my correct order and I do find all the staff to be friendly and helpful. It is always rather clean as well.

This pub is situated just on the outskirts of Farnborough town. The menu is budget friendly and has a variety of meals suitable to most members of the family. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the service was fairly quick. There is a lot of seating inside although the pub is quite dark and the tables are close together. The food was piping hot and fresh and the kitchen was very clean and hygienic. The meals mostly came with a drink and it was a nice location for a spot of lunch.

Delicious Mixed Grill which was on the specials menu for that day, good service, very reasonably priced, friendly atmosphere.
