The Three Oaks Pub in Rother

Look, when they say 'Large' Roast Dinner, they are not messing around. The roast potatoes are amazing, the Yorkshire puddings are heavenly, and the meat is pretty much perfect. A portion so large that it made me, a known glutton, pause and reconsider if I had the space for dessert. Speaking of which, the desserts were worth it. Amaretto and Daim Bar Frozen Mess - a special - beautiful.

A really quirky pub and full of character, had lunch with friends and the food was really good and wholesome. I had the steak pudding which was excellent, will be returning.

We made our own atmosphere due to it being a very special birthday for my mum You need to be warned to go there hungry as all 11 of us struggled to finish our dinners Service was spot on and should be credited to the team We will be back next year

Had a meal on a Monday and they had a 2 for 1 deal which was a huge bonus. The Burger I had was tasty and well cooked. Not at all dry. Beer was good. We were in a group of 8 and everyone liked their meals and drinks. The only thig that I didn't like was the amount of artifacts on the walls, it made getting in and out of chairs very difficult.

Lovely traditional country pub. Friendly welcome, excellent food, large portions, fantastic service, excellent value for money, free parking. Thankyou to all the staff. Will definitely come again.

Lovely odd ball decor pub. Friendly welcome , food portions super sized and very tasty whilst being sensibly priced. Beer good as well.

Don’t go on a Wednesday. We booked a table 4 weeks in advance which was happily accepted. We called on the day to confirm and was told by a rather rude person that our table was only for an hour to which we said that’s not long enough for a 3 course meal. The women said she would try and move us. On arrival we was placed right by the front door,I politely asked to be moved as don’t want to be by an open door to which she replied I will close it for you and did you ask not to seated by an open door. We eventually got moved to a table which was not in the restaurant area where I expected to be. The reason for all this was it was bingo night so the locals take preference. The food was absolutely gorgeous as usual however again don’t go on a Wednesday and the woman involved should improve her customer service skills. Will I visit again unfortunately not.

Amazing customer service, food and welcome. Extremely dog friendly and accommodating. Good value for money. Highly recommend visiting especially on a Monday when they have special offers on. We will definitely return. Thank you to all the staff and team, you made my mother's birthday meal one to remember. OUTSTANDING!

Lovely food and choice and generous portions

This is a great pub that does great food. I highly recommend it. Make sure you go hungry as the portions are in no way stinting but the quality is amazing.

The food is absolutely lovely. You get plenty of it and at a good price too. The ribs are so well cooked that they melt in your mouth, and the spotted dick with custard is fabulous. Would defo recommend this place, well worth a visit.

I’ve just had lunch here as I was passing by……. What a wonderful lunch and hospitality, I was made very welcome even though I only wanted a table for one……… I used to be in hospitality so I’m a little fussy but I cannot recommend the Three Oaks enough, the food is amazing and large portions

We were driving back from Camber to Bexhill with our dogs and fancied a pub lunch. We drove past The Three Oaks and thought we would try it. We are so glad we did .. what a fantastic pub this is.... Decent size, doggy friendly, my very favourite 'oldy worldy' type pub with wooden beams and a real fire, that was roaring!!!! Best of all was the food .... We have never seen portions like this and the quality of the food was excellent..... Plus they serve my absolute favourite Liver!!!! We are so happy we found this pub as we will most definitely be back... The food was out of this world, nice pint of Guinness, and the perfect spot, especially as the weather closes in so you can cosy up by the fire. Wonderful and the kind of pub we both love. Highly recommend

We was on hols,in camber sands,and wanted to go out for dinner and our dog to come with us,so goggled dog friendly pubs,restaurants,and liked the look and sound of The Three Oaks ,well what a lovely cosy pub,the staff are so friendly and made a fuss of our choc lab,the food is gorgeous.and potions are huge,went back a few times after,you made us feel very welcome

Found this pub by chance so glad we did. Food was exceptional in quality and quantity (an understatement) staff friendly and efficient service nice and quick atmosphere warm cosy and plenty of curiosities to view will certainly return.

It's such a nice and comfy place, if I lived nearby, I definitely would come more often. The food is great, huge portions, very hot (temperature-wise) and really delicious. I ordered one of the specials (liver with onion gravy). The whole atmosphere is very welcoming and you feel like you don't want to leave. Huge recommendation!

After a bit of a countryside walk my friend and I arrived to quite a cold atmosphere. The stone faced miserable barman (I’m presuming the manager) was so unwelcoming. Reluctantly I ordered some white wine which was warm and clearly had not seen the inside of a cooler or fridge. No please or thank you on payment with the same rigid face. I can only guess what he didn’t like about us, but maybe he needs a new career as hospitality is certainly not for him. We did not return during our 7 day holiday and would not recommend The Three Oaks Pub in Three Oaks, near Hastings.

Fascinating quirky place. DO mooch about in there. Nice country pub atmosphere. Food was absolutely delicious, wish we'd found it sooner in our break away! Well worth a visit.

This is a proper pub. This is the sort of pub that makes you want to move to the area to make it your local. The food was proper home cooked pub grub and the size of the portions are belly breaking. Steak and cheese pie was outstanding. The lady working behind the bar was lovely and great service. The pub itself is just full of random and interesting stuff to look at. It would be worth the 3hr round trip for us just to go back there and I’m sure we will. I won’t eat for a week before I do though. If you’re in the area pay it a visit. You won’t be disappointed.

Went for a Sunday roast, but unfortunately, the roasts had run out by the time we got there at 4 o'clock. Next time we will book an earlier time. However, we then ordered from the specials board, and the meals were superb and very, very generous portions. We ended up taking some of it home to have for supper, which the staff were happy to box up for us. All the staff were friendly and approachable. Thank you, and we will return.

Staff behind the bar were lovely and friendly just a shame about the rude man drinking at the bar (possibly landlord or manager?) who told her she'd charged the wrong price for drinks in front of us.

Found this gem of a pub by chance. Food was hot tasty and huge portions. Service was excellent. All staff were very friendly. Draught beers were very palatable. Would highly recommend this establishment.

Food pretty good overall, but portions too big. So much left over. Roast was not bad, steak pudding a bit dry. Bit of wait between courses. Overall not bad but would not rush back.

Me and my partner visited this pub for our dinner. We both had a starter and a main all our meals was very nice and very well cooked and the portions are more than generous. It's not the beat food you will eat, but it's not the worst. It's tastes good for the money you pay, and the portion sizes will make sure you'll never leave hungry. The service is spor on and the staff are all very friendly and helpful. You can't go wrong eating here. If you fancy a hearty home cooked meal and dont want to break the bank, then I can highly recommend this place 👌 😀.

A VERY special pub, you really have to see it! The journey is worth it. Very nice service, huge portions, very tasty dishes! We had reserved a table by email and were there with our motorhome. We were warmly welcomed and were allowed to spend the night on the PPL behind the house without any problems. It was a very quiet night. Many thanks to the owners and the entire team! Heike + Volker

Took my husband here for a birthday lunch.No warm welcome, we felt we really put the Chap behind out having to take our order so rude. Food came quickly, sausage and onion sandwich, chips and salad. The sausages were awful, tasteless mush, you would think a country pub would be serving local sausages, undressed iceberg salad. Chips were the only saving grace, as frozen . Wish we had listened to what people were saying about the pub and gone elsewhere. Never again.

Great old fashioned English pub. Outside seating is great in the summer. Open fire indoors for colder days. I recommend the cheese and steak pie. You best be hungry for portion are big

Lovely country pub, always a warm,welcoming fire on those chilly days and a nice sun-trap out front for summer evenings. Food is excellent, and big portions make this a great place for Sunday dinner, or to nest up for an afternoon of drinks.

What a fabulous pub! The food is great and such big portions! I had the chilli con carne with rice and salad delicious! My partner had the chicken casserole with veg and potatoes, he said it was so tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive. Highly recommend the pub.

Food is amazing and portion size is enormous. Landlords is something else. I personally found him hilarious but you gotta have a good liking for humour. Definitely worth a pit stop.

A great country pub 2 miles or so from Hastings serving many different beers and wines and generous servings of tasty meals.

Booked a table for Christmas Eve dinner. We had a delicious roast with a choice of pork, beef, turkey or vegetarian options . The boiled vegetables 🫛 carrots red cabbage were a bit bland but it is just for my liking. The medium size portion for £12 was a very generous serving even for the adult men in our party. Loved the quirky deco, Christmasy atmosphere, the pool room at the back. Thank you for the attentive service, it made our visit truly enjoyable.

My family went to the Three Oaks for my son's 40th birthday. We weren't disappointed the pub was warm and inviting and the staff were really friendly. I didn't have a starter and was glad because when the meal arrived it was massive. I chose the casseroled lamb with new potatoes it was delicious. I just managed to save room for a sweet.( rude not to). Dark cherry pie and Ice cream just as wonderful. Thanks to all the staff for making it a really memorable evening. Paul Strevens

A great place to bring our grandchildren time and time again. The staff all go above and beyond for us. Our favourite place to visit for a roast dinner, the selection is delicious.

I've had food here before, and it was nice!. I've just had the Xmas roast turkey, and I found it tasteless!. The pub itself is nice and cozy, though. The staff are nice and friendly too!.

Very good value and huge meals. Your challenge is to make Nigel the Landlord smile! An empty plate is a real challenge, as the meals are very generous. One of my local pubs, and a very good one.

We have never had a bad meal here. The staff are always so lovely and friendly. The food has never disappointed. Huge portions, and the deserts are always very yummy. My only suggestion would be maybe a little more choice for vegetarians.

We were unsure about going after seeing a review saying they were not dog friendly. How glad we were to follow our gut feelings and visited the. The food was exceptional with very large portions. I went for the sausage and mash and ended up with five sausages and couple of pounds of potatoes. The landlord was welcoming and the staff were first class. This place is definitely worth a second, third or even four visits in a week

This is your quintessential small country English pub. The interior is full of original and interesting decor, to the point where you could imagine it being used for filming such is range and density of items being displayed. The staff are very friendly and attentive, and the food is amazing. Be warned, servings are on the generous size, only order large if you're really capable of a LARGE meal. Unlike some places, there is real value for money for the amount of food you get. I have eaten here lots of times, usually with a group of six to eight. Each time, all of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Not often I give five stars, but the Three Oaks Pub is well deserving of them (and no, I'm not affiliated to them in any way).

Visited at lunchtime with family. Excellent menu and good choice of "Specials". Service was great and the food excellent.... they definitely don't skimp on the portions.... they were huge!!! Will definitely visit again when we're in the area again (also good car parking).

Thank you so much for such wonderful organisation today for my very large group. The service was amazing we all felt so welcome. Wow the food !!!! How can you make a profit with such huge plates of delicious fresh roasts. Compliments to the chefs. You must have the BEST roasts in the area, although I can’t imagine many people manage the largest roast you offer as the standard one is Huge. Beautifully cooked. The puddings are great too especially the Daim amaretto ice cream it’s amazing.

A very local pub with a friendly welcome.

Lovely pub, food was nice depending what you had, lasagne was lovely but roast was standard with hard potatoes, portion sizes were very generous but when booking a table of 10 for a birthday you don’t expect to be timed. We basically got kicked out because they booked in another table giving us 1.5 to eat dinner and pudding thankfully we didn’t have starters. But when it’s busy you don’t expect to be so rushed especially when there’s so many of you and other tables that are also waiting for food ect. I’ve never been somewhere the staff were so rude and unwelcoming, I work in hospitality and when staff are checking their watches telling you, you need to leave because they need the table is horrendous. Only 1 lovely staff member (thank you for being so lovely) out of 5 but unfortunately she got taken off our table after taking our main order. This is not the first time being at three oaks where staff clearly don’t want to be there or serve you with their rude and abrupt mannerism. It’s like asking a question of how big is the pudding is a crime!

We visited this lovely pub after trying numerous other pubs locally that had stopped serving food after 2.30pm. Staff were friendly, welcoming and polite, we were so pleased to find this little hidden gem. Great menu and great food. Would highly recommend!

Well if you are looking for quantity over quality crossed with faulty towers (owner has to be related to basil) then this is the place for you! Popped in here whilst holidaying in area and have tried before and also written a great review, alas this visit was not as great! 2 of us had the chicken bacon and leek pie - which consisted of 3 small pieces of chicken, 1 piece of bacon and I was still looking for my leek when I decided to abandon all hope after tasting a very bland almost wallpaper consistency filling, yes you get plenty of veg, poor quality peas and zero flavour. 2 had the steak pies and stated that they enjoyed them, again lots of veg. Loved the quirkiness of this pub but unfortunately in my opinion the place needs a good clean and a chef that knows what flavour is!

Very rude, very unfriendly, sarcastic man served us. Food was OK at best. Not impressed with the roast, nothing going on unless you like half a field of peas on your plate.

I haven't returned here since before the pandemic, luckily Nigel is still at the helm, producing excellent Sunday roasts and desserts. Food always excellent and value for money, staff pleasant and amicable. If you are in the area I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND a visit.
