The Thatched House Pub and Restaurant in Arun

We stayed in the cottage annexed to the pub. It was immaculate, warm, comfortable, and just about everything we needed for our first night was provided. If you don't feel like cooking, the pub has an excellent restaurant with a menu for all tastes. The sea is minutes away on foot, and Felpham village has enough shops to supply anything you might have forgotten to bring with you. Will we return? A resounding YES to that, but next time we'll make it a week. Justin and Darren.

Have just returned from meeting a friend for lunch. We were made to feel very welcome by the landlady. Excellent choices on the menu. Able to sit in the patio style garden as an absolute sun trap. Enjoyed a delicious tuna sandwich which came with a fresh salad and hot crispy fries. Would thoroughly recommend and will revisit again soon.

Lovely pub, great staff and great food and very reasonably priced. Ate here twice on our recent mini break. Was really impressed with the food, the nacho bowl with chilli was amazing! Something for everyone and loads of outdoor space too.

First time we've been to The Thatched House since it has been under new management. The landlady was brilliant, so friendly, and sorted our problems / questions very professionally. The food was 5☆ and our friends were very impressed. Why this pub isn't busier,I have no idea. Great food, comfortable surroundings and lovely staff. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the first time we have visited this lovely Pub, as we were not even aware of it even after 14 years of living in the area !. The first thing that struck us was how friendly and welcoming the staff were, as soon as we walked through the door, we were greeted like old friends. We were surprised that there were not more people in the restaurant, as the food was superb. I am not normally a Burger person, but just fancied one of their Gourmet Burgers as it sounded so good and I was certainly not disappointed, it was excellent, I particularly liked the salad and home made coleslaw. My Wife had the scampi, which is on their new menu and she was equally very pleased with it. We will definitely be back and look forward to bringing our friends with us who also like trying new places.

Popped in here the Saturday before Valentines. It was going to be a romantic meal but we bumped in to some friends in town and decided to all eat here. We didn’t book and were lucky to get a table as it was quite busy. I had the lamb burger, my friends had fish and chips and a burger and chips. My wife who is Gluten and Lactose free had the bacon burger and chips. Everything was great, the food, the service and the staff were very friendly. We are now regulars 👍

So, it’s been taken over by new management. Booked for Sunday lunch today. Freezing cold inside, most people had their coats on as I did! One couple left, I believe because of this, as hardly touched their food. I had the nut roast , my partner had the half roast chicken. Quite pricy at £17.99 for mine & £20.99 for the chicken. Tiny amount of veg. Spoonful of red cabbage , 2 broccoli heads & a few carrots , couple roast potatoes.The waitress did say there was parsnips but we didn’t get any. For the price I feel they should have served lots of veg. Disappointed. Food was nice but just not enough of it and only had one drink as was cold so made it uncomfortable.

Under new management and open for food on a Monday, had to give it a try and was not disappointed, friendly staff, and great food.

The Thatched House Pub in Felpham, under the new management of Landlady Stella and Chef Ross, has made a delightful comeback. I recommend their flavorful Thai Red curry and commend the homemade minted lamb and halloumi burger, served with finesse alongside a rocket salad, Greek yogurt, and a red onion chutney. Stella’s attentive and friendly service, coupled with a commendable beer selection including Harvey’s Sussex Best and Dark Star Hophead, enhances the overall experience. Despite occasional noise in this bustling pub with wooden floors, the vibrant atmosphere doesn’t overshadow the enjoyment. I look forward to becoming a regular visitor and returning soon.

Visited on the off chance for a quick lunch on a Saturday afternoon and was not disappointed. The staff very welcoming friendly and efficient. I ordered one of the burgers from a good choice on the menu and my daughter, who wasn’t overly hungry, decided to have 2 starters of the calamari and halloumi fries. Everything cooked perfectly and was very tasty. Will definitely return.

Popped in on the off chance of getting some food, staff were extremely friendly and happy to answer my questions. The food was fantastic, with a great portion size, and the place was very clean and tidy. Some real effort has been put here. Will definitely return. Thank you 😊

Stopped to get an evening meal with wife and 6 months old grandson. 3 steps in met with a no children under 12 allowed in this pub from staff. Wow what a backward approach in 2023. Left and won’t return.

Just returned from our first visit to Felpham and we couldn't have chosen a better place to stay, eat and drink. A great pub with excellent food and fantastic hospitality from the owners.

Wow what a great night ..surprise hen do arranged by my daughter karaoke 🎤 night in The Thatched House.... Omg so much fun great atmosphere and all in the village. My hen party had the best time. Haven't been here for years, but on a spontaneous night out we met some friends there. It was Karaoke, we had the best night. I haven't laughed so much in ages. The landlords were wonderful. Wow! An amazing atmosphere in the pub for the King's Coronation. Great, friendly group of people, lovely food (antipasti and steak and ale pie) superb, attentive hosts. Brilliant way to celebrate an historical event.

Visited for a meal with my wife on Saturday evening. We had Hot Honey Chicken & Bacon with new potatoes on a bed of salad, and the Hunters Chicken Burger. The portions were generous, and both meals were very tasty. The hosts of the pub are really friendly and welcoming, they really know how to look after their customers. The prices are very reasonable, and there was an added bonus of a great Bon Jovi tribute act too. We will definitely eat here again.

Wow a pub in the village where we have lived all our life with many friends celebrating a birthday are told not to stand at the bar and sit down! Shocking , no wander it has the reputation of the 3rd best pub in the village . Shocking , not even a busy night and we wander why ! A massive tip for you , if you want to run a business - understand you customer base and hospitality is about being hospitable - is it that hard ! Telling them you cannot stand at the bar and must sit down is comical ! What next , please don’t talk, your not allowed to have a conversation! , please don’t show any signs of frivolity,. Simply awful !

Excellent Sunday roast, family had various meats, lamb, beef and chicken, all well cooked with delicious accompanying vegetables. Good choice of desserts all served by friendly staff. Very reasonable price for a well-cooked meal.

Such a fantastic pub, can't fault it. Great landlords, lovely staff, scrummy food at very reasonable prices (best gravy ever!) Dog friendly, sheltered outside area, wonderful ambience. Best in the area without a doubt.

Booked and arrived to what we thought was a gastro pub restaurant. Arrived and shown to a table which you wouldn’t class as a restaurant. Small table amongst other tables of drinkers with a footy tv screen. No other tables appeared to be dining. Nobody appeared to bring menus or offering a drink. Complete joke of a restaurant

It’s a friendly welcoming pub but unfortunately after two meals here I’m not tempted to go back sadly.

Three of us went for lunch, looking forward to seeing the newly refurbished pub and restaurant. There was no problem with the service at all despite there being only one person serving behind the bar and waiting on tables. The food was just awful. Two of us ordered the liver and bacon. When it arrived it looked as if it was a mound of dog food. The presentation was dreadful. The liver hadn’t been trimmed properly and was tough. My whitebait was so over cooked it was virtually inedible. We wondered if this place actually has a chef or whether an untrained person was in charge of the kitchen. Many years ago the Sunday roasts here were excellent but we shan’t be going back again for the food. The interior has had a very nice facelift but the food lets it down badly.

Impressed by the portion sizes. Really full after dinner and pudding. Nice clean and lovely views out the window.

What a great night after a bad start. Out for a few drinks a ended up here what a change it has had. The staff were so polite and helpful. Great beer and great food. Was out with a few friends and did get a bit loud. But the staff just came over and were so nice we just had to calm down. Thank you so much you guys saved our night out.

We have been there three times recently and the food has been very good. The staff are very helpful and friendly and looked after us really well. They also have very good real beers. The pub & restaurant are very clean and the whole ambience is good. Only small downside is when busy it can get a bit noisy.

A group of 8 mixed ages teenage to OAPs on Tuesday for evening meal. Excellent friendly service and good food. Such a lot of choice ..will definitely eat here again . I believe Fridays and Saturdays can be noisy and very busy here with the 30-40s as this is well known now for wonderful Gin cocktails.
