Had a lovely birthday dinner here the waiting staff were very attentive the food was served with a smile I had the mackerel special which was delicious

We visited the terrace on our last night of holiday last Friday (29th) and it was amazing. The restaurant has a lovely lay out, really friendly staff and it’s dog friendly in the conservatory which we did use when we had hot drinks the day before and brought the dog. We went the 4 of us as a family and found the kids menu was fab, the main menu for adults had lots of choice and I will go as far as to say the rib eye steak was the best steak I have ever eaten! As well as the peppercorn sauce which you could tell was homemade. We love Gwel an mor and will be sure to use the restaurant more when we return

What a lovely place, visited twice over the Xmas stay. Staff very friendly and food was lovely. What a credit this place is to Gwel an mor. Would be nice if they were open mornings and done a breakfast.

We have been visiting the Terrace bar and Restaurant for a number of years both whilst staying on site at the resort and also during visits to other areas of Cornwall. The food served here is an absolute treat, freshly prepared, beautifully presented and tastes amazing!! We would particularly recommend the catch of the day which has never disappointed and is always a real explosion of taste! .. as for desserts, the Terrace absolutely makes the best homemade sticky toffee pudding I have ever tasted and believe me I don't make this statement lightly having tried many from different places over the years. The staff here are always friendly and cannot do enough for you, particular shout out to Shawn who is always so welcoming and goes that extra mile to make sure your experience is a positive one. We will certainly be returning again on our holiday adventures from Wales and always look forward to our visits. More recently the Terrace has been hosting live music to enjoy on certain evenings whilst having your meal.. so just when you think it can't get any better it does! We hope to be back again for another visit as soon as possible.

What can I say this place is amazing. Katy the manager there runs it very well so should be proud. The staff are so polite and friendly and make you feel so welcome. I’ve really enjoyed spending sometime here, also went for a meal on our last day and the food was amazing.so overall can not fault this place and highly recommend popping in to see them, and have some food or a beer. They will make feel so welcome.

We spent a nice evening at the Terrace. Service was good. We enjoyed the starters more than the mains. Unfortunately the burgers were overdone. However the accompanying fries were very good.

Lovely food great staff could not do enough for us. Burgers delicious! Super location close to beach even if you're not staying at the resort well worth a visit!.

Delicious food (including Gluten Free and Vegan/Veggie options). We’ve had several meals here during our holiday (both this year and last year) and the service was excellent. Josh, Shaun and the rest of the team are superb. Added bonus that even on a rainy day the view out to the sea is lovely from the terrace.

Disappointed , staff got the order wrong twice, food was nothing special and not cheap, wont be going back.

Me and my girlfriend came here for a meal out on holiday lovely table in the corner ready for us and great customer service! My scallops were the best i have ever had i am a young chef and have eaten a lot of fish in lots of places but my scallops were amazing along with my Hake which was so light and fluffy perfect golden colour on the skin. My girlfriend had a lovely nachos for her starter and a mediterranean pasta she loved it but was so full from the nachos already and just said the pasta was a bit oily but still tasted amazing. Loved our desserts so much the crunch in the base on the chelate brownie mousse was perfect wasn’t to sugary it was just the right combination! Love the staff and the place will definitely come back again! Thanks so much

So we was recommended to try this place, we went as a family of 5. Me, my 2 daughters and their boyfriends. WOW! As soon as we sat down, the lady at the bar stared at us. It was a warm evening and we must have waited 10 minutes before they even took a drinks order! We then ordered food and waited over 45 minutes for this to be served, 4 meals were burgers and 1 fish and chips! We had no courtesy check, nobody asked if we wanted more drinks. No apologies for the wait, it wasnt even busy. My daughter had a gamon which was over cooked, one of the lads had a cajun burger which was dry. It felt like they didn't want us in there as we wasn't staying on the site or dressed up! Not sure if the lady was a manager but her customer service skills didnt exist! I love portreath but WOULDNT go back here again Save your money

We were on holiday in Portreath and had two meals at the terrace. The food was excellent, great ambience and pleasant staff. Much to be recommended.

We popped in to quench our thirst with a cool crisp pint. Lovely place with friendly staff. Place was quiet when we arrived and we had the pick of the seats outside. Follow the signs and parking is handily close the the terrace restaurant.

We each had a main course. My 10 year old very picky granddaughter really enjoyed her burger and chips. Pasta dish and gammon steak were also excellent. Unfortunately the evening was spoilt by poor service including one of the mains being served sometime after the we first 4.

Returned to Gwel an Mor for the thirteenth time & together with good weather, had a lovely time. Whether staying as a couple in a Lakeside Lodge, or with family in a Residence Lodge, the 5 star experience is always there with superior cleanliness, comfort & style. However, over the last 3/4 visits we have noticed that The Terrace Bar & Restaurant has failed to return to the 5 star status that it had pre Covid 19, in terms of food quality, menu choice & service. The restaurant was previously No.1 on Tripadvisor in Portreath & it is now No.4! My wife & I tried the first two establishments on the Tripadvisor list and promptly left. Too busy, too noisy with children running around & certainly not the ambience we were looking for. On returning to site, we hoped to get a table in the restaurant. No problem. The waitress at the bar told us to sit where we liked. Seemed really quiet. Menus were brought over, but after 10 minutes of waiting I asked again for someone to at least take our drinks order, to be told that there were only two service staff working that evening. A further 10 minutes & our order was taken. Drinks brought, but forgot the water - had to wait until the food was delivered to ask again. I am by nature a generous tipper, but not tonight! We pay for 5 star quality in our accommodation, for the on site facilities such as the pool, golf etc, surely we can expect the same from your on site restaurant? So Management, if you’re happy dropping down the Portreath restaurant league tables, and be compared less favourably than the establishments rated higher than you, carry on as you are. Or, relaunch the restaurant! The venue is stylish, modern, but lacks a decent menu for those who don’t want burgers, pizza & chips. Great for the children, but put on extra specials to tempt your more discerning clientele. Improve staff training. Staffing levels should meet requirements of your guests. When staff sit guests & provide a menu, offer drinks straight away - they will then probably order more drinks as the meal progresses. And always come back to the table to ensure everything is to your guests satisfaction - this doesn’t always happen! Simple changes to reflect what is a great venue. Please make it No.1 again!

Ate several times at this fantastic restaurant while we were staying here for our holiday. The food was so so delicious and the meal that we had on our last night was probably the best meal I’ve had for a long while. Had scallops and then monkfish all of which was cooked to perfection. It was scrumptious 😋 The staff were amazing. They were really friendly and helpful and really looked after us. Thank you and will definitely miss this place. The price was also very reasonable bearing in mind the quality of food we had served to us.

Tried to book a table here earlier in the week. But was greeted by a sign saying closed private function……then came earlier this morning to try again…..should have took the hint and gone else where Out of all our meals this week this was by far the worst, we’re staying on site so thought we would have our last meal here however expectations weren’t that high to start with. Children opted for the cheese and tomato pizza and pasta. Pizza was rock hard and the pasta looked like pasta with a bit of tin tomato juice on it. Both myself and other half had fish and chips, fish was watery and my other half had a plate of batter it would seem hardly any fish in there. The peas looked like they were left over from last week. Absolutely crap, thank god we didn’t pay for the steak. I’m happy to pay good money for a decent meal but this was poor. Didn’t even stay for afters.

The Terrace restaurant was beautifully decorated for Christmas. Excellent menu served by friendly attentive staff. Well stocked bar serving figgy pudding gin ! We also had a full Christmas menu brought to the lodge one evening the quality of the food was exceptional and it arrived hot and ready to serve very impressed. A truly memorable stay can’t wait to return next year.

We ate in the restaurant once and did 2 restaurant ‘take aways’ as tables are limited during covid. When we ate in the restaurant the food was well presented and the staff were helpful and friendly. The food is made with quality ingredients and freshly prepared, so we were very satisfied. Our 12 year old twins also enjoyed it.We weren’t expecting the same quality with the take aways, but we were pleasantly surprised. The items were individually boxed so things didn’t go soggy or get mushed into one pile. I think the portion sizes were a tad bigger on takeaway, in that more chips given. The burgers were the best - hand made thick tasty ones. They even included condiments in the bag without having to ask.We really enjoyed this restaurant- well worth booking in to.

The resort itself is peaceful and welcoming. We are local and could see most guests were on holiday. Everything was so professional from start to finish. This really instilled confidence in us that staff were complying over and above with all Covid Guidelines and are putting safety first. Food was delicious, the only regret was not having room for One of the yummy chocolate desserts. We love it that there was air conditioning and it’s all dog And child friendly. It was lovely to sit at the table and see the sea and watch the sunset. A complete stress-free experience, 5 star for sure, without a fussy menu. We love it. Thanks to all the staff.

Really disappointed with the overall experience, beer was awful, food was super overpriced for what we got. Kids didn’t even get offered cutlery which is odd considering it’s a family holiday place. Oh and not to mention the very unwelcoming and grumpy staff and 35min wait on the food when there was barely anyone else there! I could go into more detail but don’t want to waste my time when I already wasted time at this appalling meal.

We stayed at Gwel an Mor for a long weekend and visited the Terrace Restaurant every evening.We had our ( very well behaved dog ) with us and were seated in the conservatory area . Although the weather outside was cold and at some points pouring with rain , it was lovely and warm in the conservatory and there were lovely touches like small comfy dog beds and blankets for us humans if we were feeling chilly .Booking is necessary , especially so I would say in high season as the restaurant isn’t massive for the size of the site and the amount of accommodation there .The food was delicious and there was a great menu and specials board to choose from .The service was good and very cheerful.The only thing that we both would say is that it would be lovely to have somewhere when staying onsite inside the restaurant/ conservatory in winter to chill out and have a few drinks after our meal with the dog allowed . I understand that not all dogs are well behaved, but it could be stated that only well behaved dogs are welcome as I’m sure it already is . We would’ve stayed for a few drinks and asked if we could sit on the comfy sofa just inside the restaurant door and were told unfortunately no dogs allowed.We have stayed last year as well ( we didn’t have the dog then ) and used the restaurant then too , we enjoyed chilling out after our meal on the sofa with a few drinks . There are pubs in the village that you can walk to but when the weather is particularly bad it’s nice to be able to stay on site .

Had a meal on Xmas Eve in the restaurant with my family. Nice atmosphere that you would expect on Xmas Eve The staff were very attentive but looked a bit tired, long Xmas shifts I expect. Good selection of food and all to a good standard.

Had a Christmas lunch after our visit to see Father Christmas, was the tastiest roast dinner we have had in a very long time! Children's meals were great also. Visited twice during a midweek stay at Gwelan mor. Booked online which was easy to do. The staff were friendly and welcoming. The food was good. We chose from the main menu and the specials menu and everything was fresh and tasted good. One night we had live music which was good. The service wasn’t fast but that’s fine with me as the wine and local cider was great! Th restaurant is very clean

We visited the terrace booking online for a dog friendly table for our 1st night staying at Gwel al mor, we were seated in the beautiful conservatory that was fairly busy for a Sunday night. The lovely waitresses immediately made us feel welcome taking our orders and bringing a water bowl for the dog to the table, and if the dogs happy we are! We were served a very nice pint of Cornish lager and ordered our meal with lovely compliments how good the dog was. Starters were served quick and were delicious, when the mains came I noticed I had been served beef instead of pork, when I brought to the attention of the waitress she corrected this straight away and the chef added extra pork to compensate. Our meals were fabulous, amazing quality and probably the best Sunday dinner I have ever had, my husband had the burger and again he was very impressed. I cannot recommend this place highly enough, the service, the food quality, the friendliness of the staff, the ambiance was top class, and so dog friendly, we will definitely be visiting again during our stay!

Dined at the terrace restaurant during our stay and we weren't disappointed lovely food with different specials each night and attentive staff. Especially impressed that even though they were busy, we didn't have to wait long for our food.

We visited 3 times whilst staying at Gwel an Mor Portreath. The food was always fresh and tasty. The staff were always helpful and polite.

We had the Seafood linguine with not a lot of seafood and a average burger in a nice bun, it did have a small of coleslaw on the side and when we asked for a bit more coleslaw we were charged an extra £3. We finished with the apple crumble but found the portion size very small served in a small tapas dish with no space to add the custard.

Dogs are permitted in the conservatory area so we were able to bring our two large well behaved dogs with us when we went out to eat. There was enough room between tables for the dogs not to get kicked or trodden on as people moved about. There’s a decent selection of gin based drinks and I ordered one while studying the menu. We ordered a starter from the specials board of chicken, venison and hazelnut terrine which was delicious and I hope it makes it onto the main menu. The main course of seafood linguini was tasty but a little too creamy for my liking - didn’t stop me finishing every last bit though.

Al together a good meal. I think the fish was a bit pricy so ended up having the Caesar salad which was nice.

The Sunday dinner was delicious and the perfect portion. Staff are really friendly and helpful and the restaurant is clean, modern and in a beautiful setting.

Been to The Terrace Restaurant at Gwel an Mor many times over last 10+ years. Always good service and consistent food quality. Moules frites and dressed crab both excellent and the boys loved the pizzas.

Well it would have been an excellent view if it hadn’t been raining heavily! But that aside, we had a table in the outside terrace ( don’t worry it is enclosed so you won’t get wet) and we were happy with the service and the food. The chairs were a little hard but providing a blanket at each table for cold legs etc is a nice touch.We all chose fish and chips and were not disappointed. It was busy but then it was raining. This restaurant is open to all but actually sits in the Gael an Mor holiday complex. Although you could walk to the beach, the walk up may be a bit ambitious for most so recommend a car. There is car park but it’s not huge.

We came here on our last night staying on holiday at Gwel an Mor. We really can't fault it. The food was delicious, the staff were fantastic with our children, service was prompt - and they serve Cornish Gold! It's a lovely, family friendly restaurant and we had a LOVELY meal. Highly recommended x

We were staying at the resort so decided to have a meal at the restaurant. We sat in the conservatory which was lovely and private. The staff were attentive and friendly and happy to answer questions on any of the dishes and the service was quick. My husband had the fresh fish which was lovely and I had the lamb which was extremely tender. Also had a lovely brulee dessert. I noticed there were also nice veggie/vegan options and afternoon tea.We also had a takeaway another night which arrived when they said it would, everything correct (for 7 people) and very tasty. kids loved the pizzas and fish and chips.

On Saturday night we visited the terrace restaurant for a birthday meal. Have visited a few time and untill now was extremely happy. Unfortunately on this visit the see ice was slow and forgetful. It took 2 and a half hours to get threw two courses. Needless to say we did not stay for dessert. On top of this it seems the staff cannot remeber request unless they put it into a order screen. Asked for a drink on two separate occasions. Only to be forgotten. The food was OK. Nothing to rave about and when asked if all was OK. The waiter did not even respond to this comment. Will be reluctant to visit again. Such a shame

When we arrived at our holiday rental home in Portreath, this restaurant came heavily recommended in the welcome pack, so we decided to try the restaurant on our second to last night.It was by far the most expensive meal we'd had during our stay and the food was sadly average, let down even more by the extremely slow service when the restaurant wasn't even at full capacity.Poor value. I'd recommend the hearty portions at the traditional Bassett Arms but if you want something a little more fancy, head to the Portreath Arms.

We were greated very warmly and the lady that served was really helpful, especially helping our youngest with his choice, she made sure he got exactly what he wanted. The food was really tasty, I had the burger with a couple of extra toppings folowed by apple crumble and custard and it was very good. The others said they really enjoyed their food too. We loved the little boxes of quiz questions on each table, great touch.

Superb all round. Really enjoyed the meal and overall ambience. Wednesday they have a local guitar/ singer which was great too. We had the crab (order 24 hours in advance) and it was the biggest and best crab we have ever had and local as well. Fantastic value too. Kids meals great too. Try the Cornish wine, not cheap but worth every penny versus french white or Italian any day. Service great throughout, attentive and efficient. Not just for Gwel an Mor residents but if you are staying here like us then we are lucky to have this place in our doorstep. Lovely.

We were staying on Gwel an Mor where The Terrace is located, but the restaurant does not match the 5 star resort. We are frequent customers of the resort and have been 3 or 4 times but the experience in the restaurant has put me off coming back. The food is okay, but not excellent. The only good thing about the restaurant is the fact it’s convenient for families to have a meal out while on the resort but actually there are so many lovely restaurants in Cornwall it’s worth traveling and getting quality over convenience. I’ll outline why we didn’t like the restaurant:The first night we ate there wasn’t too bad apart from being a little slow. Also the waitress didn’t ask what size wine I wanted but went ahead and gave me 2 large glasses anyway. I noticed the next time I went that there is a choice of small, medium and large. Not great to just give the most expensive option. The kids meals are in my opinion quite poor quality and the sides (peas / beans etc) is laughable in terms of size. Probably about 2 table spoons worth. When we left we booked a table for a few days time as we had family coming to stay with us so we wanted a family meal together. We booked the conservatory as we did the first time, as we had the dog with us, however when we arrived, the conservatory had not been booked so we had to bring the dog back to the lodge. Frustratingly, later in the evening the waitress came to tell me that the dog was barking in the lodge (lodge was next door), which was exactly why we’d booked the conservatory table! We had no other option but to leave the dog so there was not a lot I could do about it. We waited approx 15 mins before anyone came to order drinks. We then waited a further 20 mins or so before ordering food. The food order took so long to come, we had to chase a few times and the children were so hungry by this stage they were getting tired and tearful. The meals eventually came but the waitress had forgot to ask what sides the kids wanted so we had to wait again to get them. At no point did anyone ask how the meals were or apologise for the delay. We were not asked if we wanted a second order of drinks so we had to go and find the waiter to do this. We were not offered desert or the bill. Again I had to go and ask for the bill. When at the end of the night we explained what a poor service they had offered, the manager simply said ‘. We’re sorry YOU’RE not happy, with emphasis on your ‘you’re’, making us feel like our complaint was not valid. She explained that they were very busy and this was the reason for the delay but surely you should staff accordingly? No offer of a resolution was given except after a 5 minute conversation when she offered to take a round of drinks off the bill. The main problem was the attitude, I feel that she should have said ‘I am sorry the service you have received is not good enough’ ‘ I agree we should have done better’ can I offer you a round of drinks? But at no point did she admit the poor service or act like she cared. If she had had the right attitude we would have just accepted the apology. I guess the custom is guaranteed due to being on the resort and being convenient for guests which I think is half of the problem. They don’t have to try hard to get customers. She proceed to tell us that our complaint was rare and most customers were happy. This, unfortunately came back to bite as 2 tables of customers in the restaurant came over to our table to tell us that they were also unhappy and had asked to speak to the manager. Honestly I have never received such bad service in a restaurant, with poor attention to customers, lack of understanding of their shortfalls, and this is a poor reflection on the resort.

Second time visiting for food and on both occasions the food has been exceptional. The burger cannot be faulted, very juicy and full of flavour, one of the best I have discovered. Safe to say I will be back soon well done team

We were recommended this restaurant by a local friend who lives in Carbis Bay. They knew it was my birthday and said I would not be disappointed.The restaurant has a nice decor and vibe to the place. We booked a table and was very accommodating when we called to ask if we could push the booking back an hour since we were running late. Also nice to be asked if we would like a table indoors or outside on their terrace.When we arrived the staff was very polite and friendly and promptly took our drink order which was a bottle of wine. The menu is a good size with plenty of options. We had been recommended either pizza or the fillet steak.The staff was very understanding when my wife could not make up her mind and they had to keep coming back to check.My wife ordered the prawn linguine and I had the fillet steak with fries with peppercorn sauce.We both thoroughly enjoyed the food and wine and would happily give 5 stars for your food and service and will always spread the experience of the night with friends. We hope to return next year for a similarly great night.Keep up the good work

We decided to visit here for lunch after a friend recommended the place to us. We were a bit apprehensive as the resort is quite posh and we had been out for the day in our old drag racing car which is a bit rattly and noisy. We found a parking spot and fortunately the car was met with delight and the lady from reception came out to have a look at it which put us at ease. The staff were incredibly attentive and friendly and the food was absolutely gorgeous, we both chose the Sunday roast and will definitely return. The location and general ambience of the restaurant was first class and I’d certainly recommend. We walked to see the animals at the farm after our meals and it was lovely to see the Reindeer and the chap working at the farm was friendly and knowledgable. Thank you
