We loved the summer house, and had such a relaxing stay! Delicious breakfasts, a spotless and comfortable room, lovely garden and amazing hosts Kirsten and Trevor! They were so welcoming and we felt at ease straight away. Tea/coffee and snacks available at the larder were a great touch too - especially enjoyed in the garden! Having evening drinks available was wonderful too. The summer house is perfectly situated too to either stroll into penzance or explore newlyn/mousehold on foot. Really recommend! Photo of the beach taken a one minute stroll from the house.

What a wonderful small hotel. We loved our stay here. Trevor and Kirsten are the best hosts ever! And the paintings, by Kirsten, are stunning. Breakfasts are the best... and we loved the garden and sitting room. Anyone lucky enough to stay here will smile! Thank you for a lovely stay.

My wife and I spent two nights at The Summer House in August. Trevor and Kirsten were absolutely wonderful hosts. The accommodations were fantastic, the attention to detail was extraordinary, and the breakfast offerings were perfect. To be perfectly honest, The Summer House is a destination in itself. We just wished we could have stayed a week just lounging about. Trevor and Kirsten are simply a notch or two above most small hotel owners; they’ve mastered the art of hosting. Hopefully we’ll be able to return again!

My wife and I loved the Summer House. We were so impressed by the hospitality of Trevor and Kirsten. The house and interior are perfect and includes Kirsten’s art, inspired by the local landscape, The room was lovely, spotless and comfortable. The access to snacks in the dining room was really useful after a tiring journey. You are greeted with tea and cake (light as a feather lemon drizzle in our case) and made to feel at home. There are light and more traditional options for breakfast which worked well for the two days we stayed. We cannot recommend the Summer House too highly!

I had an amazing experience. The building is gorgeous, the rooms were comfortable and clean and the staff was amazing (they were brilliant always making sure we were fine and enjoying our stay!). They went over and beyond to help make our experience enjoyable and memorable. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Penzance and the rest of Cornwall. Great place and great people!

I stayed at the Summer House a few months ago with my Nan and my sister and we all had a wonderful time - Trevor was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Food was fabulous too! Not too far from town, was a lovely walk. He made us feel very welcome and at home. The decor is gorgeous and superbly done. I really enjoyed my stay, and I would 100% stay again - thank you Trevor and Kirsten! The room we stayed in was great, had everything we needed & a really comfy bed! Couldn’t fault it :)

We’ve been walking the South West Coast Path for about five weeks and this was definitely one of our favorite accommodations. The rooms are impeccably decorated, beds are very comfortable, there is a sitting area and a garden to relax in, the breakfast room is charming, breakfast very tasty and the hosts are welcoming and accommodating. The wife is a painter and her art work hangs in the house and in the rooms. And it’s very good.

What a waste of a beautiful restaurant in prime location in perranpoth. Basic bland over priced food and drink, over priced and only open in the summer to fleece the holiday goers of there hard Earnt money. As a local I would advise to give this place a miss as the quality does not match the price. Staff have little to no idea of the food they are serving

We visited this restaurant after making a booking. The location is stunning with views over the Perranporth bay. The service and food were excellent, top class. We would have rated 5 stars until what follows.....However after 2 courses we were told we would have to moved to the windy decking/bar outside as our time slot was finished. We were complete surprised by this as only having been there 1.10 minutes, we were going to order desert and coffee. Never during a meal have we been asked to move midway through. We queried this and were told that as a couple we only had an allocated time slot of 1.5 hours! We were not made aware of this during or prior to booking. Neither is this a fast food restaurant where you would expect the turn around to be quicker. The manager did apologise and said it was due to extra Covid cleaning ( cleaning and re setting the table)! Such a shame as we did not feel we could finish our perfect evening under such time constraints and we left to eat desert elsewhere. I suggest the management review the 1.5 hour time slot given to consume a 3/4 course meal. The restaurant is not cheap or part of the eating out government scheme. Please look after your customers!!!

A great place to eat overlooking the beach, with huge waves pounding and some plucky surfers. We had lunch, mine was thick slice of brown toasted bread with mashed avacordo and salsa, very tasty and beautifully presented. Followed by blackberry posett. Again very tasty and well presented. The staff were delightful and so helpful and friendly. Will go back soon.

Sat on the terrace and had lunch. Lovely view of the beach. Very peaceful even though the beach was busy. The staff were very attentive and friendly. Food was well presented, very tasty, if a little pricey, but couldn’t fault anything. Had already done the cheaper options with the grandkids so this was our treat for the two of us. Well worth it!

This is a boutique hotel, you are made to feel welcome the minute you walk through the door. It's an amazing house and Johnathan is a considerate host. Our room was large with a walk in shower, thick white towels and dressing gowns. Free toiletries good quality. Room for a trolley with tea coffee and yummy biscuits. The breakfast was the best we've had any where in the world, fresh berries, thick yogurt, honey jams, different breads for you to toast.in a proper toaster. Different diets catered for. Fresh local produce cooked to order. There is a court yard for a glass of wine at the end of the day. Comfy bed and pillows, a must for me, large flat screen TV. Enough storage space and coat hangers. The hotel is in the better part of Penzance near restaurants and pubs. A short skip to the prom. There is parking at the hotel but check first. And a bus stop near by. We would stop again when we visit Cornwall an excellent hotel.

I’ve reviewed 2FS a number of times before, and it’s always excellent. It pains me to see how some people, on occasion, criticise the staff. We’ve never had anything other than the most polite, most attentive and best service that you could want. The staff are lovely. It’s not a stuffy, high end, French maitre d type establishment - if that’s what you’re after you’re missing the point and in the wrong place. The food as ever was excellent, the ambiance was lovely and for the first Friday night of the Mousehole Christmas lights season then the service couldn’t have been better.

Great food and staff, shame several things were missing from the menu as they were closing the next day.

Mockingbird Mimosa Lounge visit on 19th October 2024 This review has only just been posted as we have been waiting 3 weeks for our refunds. This is for the deposits paid and not taken off our bill and failure to provide tea or coffee. I have previously visited The Mockingbird and have always enjoyed my visit. We booked a colleagues 'leaving do' and decided on ‘Afternoon High Tea’. Unfortunately, there was nothing ‘High’ about it! I was presented with a wooden board containing a mish mash of food, just piled up. Both meat and veggie sandwiches touching and also cakes all on the same board, buried under each other. Quality was cheap, with weird combo of plastic ham and chicken mayo in the same huge thrown together sandwich. The cakes were cheap and shop bought; certainly nothing fancy or enjoyable. Website says £17.50. We had all previously paid a £5 deposit; so I was expecting to pay £12.50. On paying, an incredibly rude woman (Louise) demanded to know who had paid and who had not. I felt like saying ‘’I don’t work here’’ but took the bill to my friends, who settled it immediately. We had spent in the region of £600+ between us. We even paid for a couple of colleagues ‘High Teas’ who had to cancel short notice due to illness, as it was pre-booked. We were not offered any tea or coffee; I did not realise this was actually supposed to be included. On reviewing my bill, the deposit had not been deducted and the charge was £22.50 per person, making my not so fancy tea £27.50. The website also says £14 for 2 cocktails, we were charged £18 for 2, hardly a ‘Happy Hour’. The ‘Gold Star’ goes to the toilet. Unclean and the towel that was hanging on the back of the door was filthy and wet – this had obviously not been changed for some time. Trying to sort this out has been interesting as Louise, who comes over as aggressive and rude, has yet to offer any apology. She even had the cheek to say "I had to turn people away because of you"! We spent a lot of money and had pre-booked! As we all work in the NHS and work to a high standard, I do not expect to be treated like this and will not be returning - You do not deserve our custom, I only hope that this will give you an opportunity to improve things.
