The cafe is hidden away behind a car sales site. Its worth persevering as it is a hidden gem with great tea/coffee and a fantastic range of cakes.

We were 8 cyclists who arrived on spec and had a very friendly welcome. We chose to sit outside in the sun and enjoyed excellent food and coffees. This place is quite small and at busy times I suspect that it would be advisable to book.

We love this little gem of a cafe. It is tucked away behind a car garage, but take the time to seek it out! It’s quirky and cosy. The stand out things to visit for are the amazing cakes. They change daily and are delicious. We know they do themed tea parties. Also, people reserve their favourite cakes in advance so it must be good! Lovely, friendly staff.

Booked afternoon tea for 4 people and it didn’t disappoint. Sandwiches were well filled and fresh and scones were huge. So full up we had to take our cake with us on leaving. Ambience was very ‘cosy’ and staff very attentive. Would highly recommend.

A really unfriendly welcome that left us all wondering if our money wasn’t good enough and our custom unappreciated. From the minute we arrived we were told they were fully booked and we’d have to site outside. We arrive approx 10.45am and told the first booking was 11. Then the staff offered us a table but just kept moaning about our legs being in the walkway even though we’d move a table back to the wall. Just moan moan moan!! A quick coffee and cake and wanted to get out of there still leaving the place empty inside and not one table being used. Just completely unaccommodating or welcoming. I could understand why if it was busy but honestly not one other customer inside!! This cycling club will not be coming back to where our custom is not appreciated

Popped in for coffee and cake with 6 other cyclists. Despite being empty we were told to sit outside or at the small low table opposite the toilets. Very brusque (borderline unpleasant) manner from the blonde staff member. When we left 45 minutes later all other tables were still empty. I had the same exact same experience last month when cycling alone. Completely empty but only allowed to sit on the sofa. With all the cycle friendly cafes around, the tea cosy has been dropped from my list of coffee stop venues.

A lovely place but not for the coffee connoisseur. My flat white was a 12oz cup filled to the top with hot untexturised milk. When challenged I was told that’s how we make it. I assume this is down to poor training and a lack of understanding of coffee so not necessarily the fault of the staff. I’m sure the tea is amazing but wont be back for a coffee.

Although this cafe has apparently been here for a while, I only spotted it a couple of weeks ago. Happy to find an independent coffee shop within walking distance, my partner and I popped in on Saturday 7th October for brunch. We were greeted with a brusque "Have you got a booking, because we're really busy and have lots of bookings coming in". I was quite surprised as there was only 1 other couple in sight. We were told that, if we ate quickly, we could be seated but had to leave in an hour. Other than the attitude, leaving in an hour suited us as it was just brunch, and fair enough, we hadn't booked. Another couple walked in while we were looking at the menu and were met with the same brusqueness. They also wanted brunch but elected to just have coffee because they didn't want to have to rush their meal. Our sandwiches and coffee was great. Afterwards, we thought we would share a slice of cake. The employee trying to take my order for a glass of water and a slice of Coffee & Walnut cake was interrupted by the same blonde lady who had greeted us because she said we had run out of time. I replied that I thought we still had 10 - 15 minutes but to leave the order for the slice of cake. We finished off our coffee and then took a walk around the fabulous gift shop next door. On return to our car, I peeped in. Our table was still empty as were most of the other tables still. I couldn't help wondering where all the bookings were.

I would NOT Recommend this place for Afternoon Tea it was so expensive they were nearly 1hr late and basically got nothing for the money paid. I booked for 5 people you got 3 tiny triangle sandwiches each of which you could just pop in your mouth so so small one scone each, one packet of crisps to share then one cake that was all you got I paid £25 deposit then £96 which my daughters paid as it was a birthday treat it's the worse Afternoon Tea I have ever had and I have had a lot

Nice scrambled egg and bacon. We arrived at 10.45am to an empty restaurant and were immediately asked if we had booked, (which we had not). Not particularly friendly welcome, my wife’s first visit out after illness. We have been here before, and enjoyed it, so some disappointment. We are fairly local so will try again sometime. Plenty of spare tables all the time we were there.

We came across this little place whilst trying to find somewhere to have coffee. We had visited Sandham memorial chapel to view the Sir Stanley Spencer paintings. The lack of coffee shops / cafe was quite evident until we came across this fabulous place. Although very busy and booked tables they said we could have a table for one hour. This was perfect as we only wanted tea and coffee. On seeing the delicious cakes and scones we decided to go for the scones. They were probably the best scones I have tasted. The drinks arrived and to our amazement the tea was loose leaf and served in a great little pot with strainer . The staff was super friendly and very accommodating. All the food that came out of the kitchen looked delicious. They had tables in the garden too and we will definitely be visiting again now we know where it is. Parking can be a little tricky at times I should imagine.

I’ve read reviews of this little place before so was looking forward to my visit. However, there was a rather smoky smell of food cooking and the ginger cake was extremely sweet and solid. My friend had lemon and blueberry which was on the soggy side. There were no scones or cream for the coffee. The worst bit was getting out of the very tiny and awkward car park at the back. It required a friend to help me manoeuvre out which was quite challenging. Sorry Tea Cosy!

We were very excited to indulge some of your amazing cakes as had been recommended to me by many family friends who have young children, I came in on Saturday the 7th and was disgusted by the rude Manor of the ignorant staff. We felt uncomfortable and as if we weren’t welcome and this was also shown by the half hearted, slow service and lack of attention to us as paying customers. Finally on arrival as no spaces out front (not a fault of yours) we parked round the back and saw the staff smoking which there continued to do throughout our visit , my children saw the cigarettes left on the work tops which isn’t the influence I want around my children. Looking for places to take my aged mother, I researched the local tea rooms and in the course of just over a week, we have visited six of the most highly rated around Andover. Of the six, this one is easily the best. The location is far from ideal, but they've clearly worked hard to build a tea room that lives up to it's name - cosy. The staff are uniformly friendly and pleased see you (unlike some many of the others we visited) and although all we had was a couple of hot drinks and teacakes, they were a step up from the competition. Definitely worth a detour. P.S. I drove straight past them on my first attempt to find them. They are hidden behind the car sales garage.

We descended on this small cafe from literally north, south, east and west. I admit I have a predisposition to getting lost these days (I blame Anno Domini) so I phoned up for directions when I was within a few miles. The person I spoke to told me they were ON the A34. I queried this as the A34 is a road I know quite well so she went away and then came back and confirmed they were definitely ON the A34. This resulted in my driving round in circles for nearly an hour until someone pointed me in the right direction.A small thing you might think but as the purpose of the meet up was to celebrate my daughter's birthday I found it upsetting to be late, indeed the last to arrive. Please don't give instructions if you don't actually know how to do so.So I admit my visit did not start off the best way BUT whilst the staff were excellent the food fell short. Two of us had tomato soup which was first rate but we were all itching to get to the cakes which were the attraction for us.I ordered a slice of Lemon cake which I am not convinced ever saw a lemon. It was of good texture but no flavour at all.The birthday girl had the Rocky road which she left half of.It was hugely disappointing to find that there are NO fresh cream cakes even tho eg the Victoria sandwich LOOKED like it had fresh cream in it. \I'm just glad I thought to ask before ordering.I have to say I would not revisit as for me, the main attraction was the cakes and I feel they fell short. Nothing particularly 'wrong', just very average in quality.Very sad when the staff are excellent.

Note to self - check map loacations before driving almost an hour for a cup of tea! OK, so that is my fault but despite the long drive (and some of it is really pretty) I could not find any reason not to love this place. I do wish it was as close as I thought! Note to all - Pay attention to directions, this is behind Londis and car lot, we drove past twice - maybe a small board outside would help - but I do know this is often a problem as people get upset with wee signs. But I digress, this really is a brilliant find. You know tnat 'OH DEAR' feeling when you arrive after a long trip, cannot find the location and then you feel it might go down hill even more, well forget that!Walking into this delightful place you can feel the happiness of the place. Some great local crafts lead you to the comfortable seating and I spied a garden as well. Great choice of light bites and daily specials board should cover most expectations.Note 2 - Leave room for Cake! or make sure to get takeaway slice. I have seen the pictures on website, and the cakes looked wonderful, but dissappointment can follow expectations! Well NO not here! Cakes? They are like small mountains of delight. No wonder several tables had been pre-booked (Tip - they give the time it is reserved for so you know if you have time to use the table - THANKS ladies - I never understand why more places do not do this). We ordered boiled eggs and soldiers and a bacon sandwich, the ladies checked it woiuld be OK as there would be a small wait as all cooked to order (thanks again - I would rather be told there is a wait than sit in frustration) as it was it was not that long in coming and both orders delightful. Eggs with hot buttered toast and a beautiful well cooked bacon sandwich. I could find no fault with either. So on to cake - No we did not have while there, but two more than generous slices of Friday Cake (and creme egg!) wait my attention. Ladies, everything about your establishment is a delight, the people, the food, the cakes and the service! All top notch, I just wish it was not over an hour to reach you!

This tea room was recommended by a friend of mine and originally visited on a return cycle ride to Portsmouth (from Devizes) last year. On our first visit, the owner let us in (we were there a few minutes before the opening time), made us very welcome and we had a superb bacon sandwich. With this in mind, I cycled there last Saturday with about 50 miles in my legs, hoping for the same welcome as experienced before but was to be disappointed. Some general information first for those arriving by bike. Firstly, do not cross the used car forecourt in front of the tea room. The owner has had cyclists accidentally mark cars on their way to/from the tea room and is understandably narked at cyclists using the forecourt to get to the cafe. Secondly, the cafe is quite popular with familes and cycling groups and not that big so if you are turning up at lunchtime you may have to share a large table with strangers (as I did), wait to be seated or find somwhere else. With respect to the food and service, I was initially given the wrong change in addition to (I think) being charged £1 for a glass of tap water (2/3 full) and it seemed the girl on the counter could not work the till or give me the right change despite this being displayed on the till. When my food arrived, there was a generous portion of scrambled egg & bacon but there were superfluous bits of cheese stuck to the sandwich but by that time I had given up. I can understand the challenges with being popular but not the poor service. Perhaps I was just unlucky this time.

My partner has been here before, but for me this was my first time! I didn't know what to expect being a Tea Cosy virgin but had read some fabulous reviews on here and Facebook which had whetted my appetite somewhat. The Tea Cosy is a small tea rooms with a very homely yet shabby chic vibe. A lovely selection of crafts available to purchase as well as the food, drink and afternoon tea experiences on offer. We got there just after midday and for a small place they were quite busy and a couple of tables had been reserved. We were asked to sit at a large table and to be joined by other people to make a shared table, which we didn't mind as it made it more of a social experience. The large latte was hot and served in a tall glass rather than a mug. The heat of the coffee did mean I had to use my napkin to pick up my drink, which I didn't mind, but in hindsight would probably have preferred a proper handled mug.The Tea Cosy is apparently imfamous for it's cake. They seem to have a special cake most Fridays (which unfortunately had already sold out when we got there) my partner had mint chocolate cake and I had the last slice of mocha cake. The cake is fantastic, very very rich and sickly (just how cake should be)Overall I enjoyed my first visit and I'm sure will be in again, I however will make sure to book a table and look to try the savoury side of the menu.

Very pretty tea room, and our expectations were high due to the price. We ordered one ham and one cheese ploughmans, which were disappointing. There was a handful of leaves from a bag, a very small amount of tomato and cucumber, very little cheese, a slice of ham from a packet, and although the slice of bread was nice and fresh, it was not what you expect with a ploughmans, and the butter couldn't have been spread any thinner. In addition there was the usual pickles and chutney, which were ok. We didn't feel the price justified the quality of the meal. We have enjoyed very good ploughmans lunches elsewhere for the same price or less.We have to say, though, that they served a really good hot pot of tea.

We have just been for afternoon tea, thanks to a birthday present Voucher at the Tea Cosy. I rang a couple of days before to book a table, and on arrival found the table reserved and laid up with bone china plates, cups and saucers and pretty napkins. A very welcoming sight. The tea itself was delicious - assorted dainty and very fresh sandwiches, huge scones with jam and clotted cream - which were consumed at a very leisurely pace. I went to pay with my Voucher, only to discover we hadn't finished! There was still a choice of homemade cakes. We were too full to manage them, so our choices were wrapped up for us to take home. A real feast and great find. Thanks girls!

Tucked behind the garage and Londis is a really lovely tea shop that takes you back to a bygone era.Lovely choice of teas and freshly baked cakes that are sufficiently sized to share. I opted for the carrot cake that was deliciously moist. As hard as it was to find it was quite busy.Thoroughly recommended and I will be back again.

We passed by the Tea Cosy on Sunday as we arrived early for a christening round the corner. We didn't order food just a tea, coffee and juice for the children but the staff were so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. The tea shop was clean and quirky and had a lovely mix of people. I had earl grey with tea leaves and a little knitted tea cosy with my pot. I wish we had time to have stayed a little longer for cake. The prices were very reasonable for food too! It's a fab place and I won't be passing without stopping in their for tea again.

Well, what can I say. Three of us popped in for a drink, great selection of teas and coffees, and an outstanding display of cakes. The sort of cakes that could make a grown man have a full tantrum if he was told he couldn't have one. We all opted for the chocolate cake, without doubt, this was the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted, and I've had more than 2 as my slim boy like figure which has been in hiding for many years now will show. The service was very friendly and a great atmosphere inside. It will be a regular treat, totally recommend a visit.

Visited after a recommendation on FB. Generous portions of cake and good choice of teas and coffees. Milkshakes for the children went down well! It's located at the back of a petrol station so if you didn't know it was there it could be easily missed. I think we will definitely be returning in the near future.

Fantastic cakes (so moist!) and a pot of leaf (not bags) tea, served in dainty crockery. We sat outside on a very hot day - not the most wonderful view in the world (it's located behind a garage just outside the village) but the cake and tea make up for that. We would certainly return.

Having ordered 2 coffees and hot scones it took 15 minutes to deliver the coffees and another 5 minutes to deliver the scones which were virtually cold. the cafe was nearly empty so not a case of being busy.We walked out in disgust explaining the reason, An expensive mistake, we won't be going there again.

What a lovely facility in such a rural location? The locals are very lucky to have this vintage tea shop as part of their community. There is also a small stock of gifts to browse. Love the decor and the pretty bunting and it's great to have outdoor seating to the side of the building. There is an all day breakfast on offer, a lunch menu and a wide variety of delicious cakes throughout the day. During my visits I've tried the moist ginger cake, a huge chunk of Twix cake and the blueberry & raspberry drizzle cake (my favourite so far). The cake menu varies from week to week so there is always a new surprise. Portions are very generous and are served with a friendly smile. All sorts of loose leaf teas are available, served by the pot with lovingly home spun tea cosies in a variety of designs. China tea cups and plates complete the scene. Staff also obligingly made me an espresso macchiato even though it is not specifically listed on the menu. I agree with a previous reviewer about the yummy bacon sandwiches made with delicious thick cut smoked bacon and soft, fresh bread. I haven't visited with children but I've observed that it appears to be very child-friendly. It's a great space for chatting with friends over a leisurely cuppa and a few treats plus great value too.

On each of our visits it has always been for a bacon sandwich and cup of tea and I can honestly say, in all of my travels, these are the best ever. Lovely thick crispy bacon, plenty of it too. Keep meaning to try the cakes which look delicious but never get around to it. Have no hesitation in recommending. Yes, it's tucked away but then again that makes it that little bit special too.

I went with my friends and partner to watch the England v Spain game. Sadly England lost but the atmosphere was still great in there. The land lady made sure she found a seat for everyone, grabbing the garden chairs from the back and rearranging the tables so everyone could get a glimpse of a goal. When the match was ending, all of the tables were given a bowl of roasties to share on the house. The land lady was chatty and kind. The staff were also really nice. It is a small pub on the edge of romsey but I would definitely go there again.

Adequate for a one night stay. Staff were most welcoming and helpful. The check-in with the corporate IT system proved problematic. It refused to take my visa card(s) - 3, and we eventually paid by cash. The staff were excellent, and service was also first class.

Recommended by my family living locally who visit regularly. So we did. Quite quirky we loved that! Bar area and separate eating. Ordered mackerel pate on toast (homemade) & mushrooms on toast both were delicious. Coffee was pretty good not too strong. My sister had a smiley face on her latte… I was envious but promised it would be my turn next visit 😂 Mike the owner was lovely very friendly and knew our cousins. My sister & I will make this our go to place as I live in Surrey & she in Hants. A good midway point to meet. We both have fond memories of Romsey as children. So see you in a couple of weeks time & there after > 👍
