The Talisman pub restaurant in Fareham

As a family we enjoyed a perfect lunch at The Talisman. There is a great choice of food to suit all tastes and the service was all you could wish for. A lovely atmosphere with a comfortable and relaxing vibe.

Only had a couple of beers this time, but they were very good. Very friendly staff. Chilled atmosphere. Car park has plenty of spaces although tight for the bigger cars.

We went to the Talisman last night for a meal.This was the first time here for a long time and we very much enjoyed it.Food and drinks were excellent as was the service from Ellen our server who I must say was great at her job.We look forward to a return visit in the near future.

Bien de servicio Alimentos, por precio, impactantemente bajo abrumadora £ 14 . 75 por 6 pulgadas por 3 pulgadas y 1 pulgada de profundidad de pasta carbonara, ensalada, pan de ajo aceitoso y tibia. 75 para un pequeño puñado de papas fritas, pechuga de pollo (siempre que su debido estaba caliente y agradable) y ensalada. Nice atmosphere food was served promptly and service was good from our waitress Chloe very patient with the time we took over our choices.

Family party of 8 for my sons 30th birthday. Chloe was our server and she was very attentive and helpful. The food was delicious, we all enjoyed our choices. My Sri Lanka curry was so good. Lovely place, will definitely come again, Thankyou.

It was a bit noisy, as a party was going on, but atmosphere was pleasant

I visited The Tailsman, meeting up with work colleagues, as one of the work colleagues was retiring. I was not familiar with the local area or the pub. I was a sole driver, struggled on the motorway due a major accident causing a big build up, I arrived a little late, and parked in the first available space, just as I turned into driveway area. I did not even know where the entrance was, but walking round found the entrance and entered, looking around for my group of about 15 people, went straight to them and sat at the long table. Non alcoholic Drinks was bought for me, so I did not even go the bar. No signs was displayed in the car park advising me of parking system, until the parking fine received. I have promptly paid this, as I have no evidence of purchasing at the bar. I will never visit this pub again. My experience ruined by receiving a parking fine. I will make sure I tell everyone not to visit this pub.

I have been visiting the Talisman for the last 6 years with friends who live nearby. I have to drive to get to the pub and have always parked in the car park with no issues. I visited in December 2024, January 2025 and February 2025 with no issues. I then visited three times between February 23rd - March 7th 2025 and recieved three consecutive fines from a parking company for £75. On all three occasions I was there for under 3 hours and it was clearly to use the pub. I was told that there was clear signage outside the pub stating the need to register your vehicle indoors. This is true, however only when visiting in the daytime, I visited when it was dark on all three occasions and the signs are barely visible. I was not looking for the signs as I had never had to register my vehicle before the above dates. The register station inside is absolutely tiny and off to the side of the bar facing away from the entrance so that is not visible when entering the pub. The photos that I was sent countering my appeal against the charges were nearly a year old and the signs at the front entrance was no longer there. I parked in the same location on all three occasions, the spaces before entering the wider car park. Whenever I have parked elsewhere I have had no issues so this feels targeted. For a drive in pub where most customers arrive by vehicle, I find this to be very counter intuitive and a bit of a money grabbing operation. I understand that people may park here overnight but charging people when clearly using the car park whilst visiting the pub is not forgivable. I strongly suggest that the Talisman contacts the parking company to do something about this, or at the very least improves their signage.

I came to the Talisman with 21 other people and Rosie was our server for the night, she did an amazing job, very prompt and delightful considering the number of people she was managing. Well done Rosie and definitely will be back, the food was amazing as well

Wonderful food and service. We turned up last minute and had a choice of bar or table service. Loads of delicious vegan options, the food was amazing and Chloe was extremely attentive and pleasant and made for a lovely relaxing dining experience.

Went here for a late lunch and my waitress was Ellen, she was very helpful and gave some good choices of what to try would definitely be coming back

We were served by a very charming and kind waitress called chloe, nothing was to much trouble including holding the main door open for us on arrival as it was the start of her shift. The food was exceptionally good for the price paid I highly recommend visiting this very worm and welcoming place.

Had a family meal last night on table 09 and 10 in the restaurant area. The pub was very busy, yet the restaurant was still not noisy. The food was delicious. The service was impeccable. The only downside was that the parking spaces are narrow and when you get people who, even when they park on the end bay, they still park selfishly, it can be a challenge to get out of the car.

Lovely visit for birthday celebrations for my father. Ellen was delightful, attentive without being intrusive, warm and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for a lovely meal

Visited here on Sunday with my wife and daughter. We're greated by a very friendly barman who had no problem finding us a table as we hadn't booked. We're able to order at the table via the app which was very simple. When the food arrived in good time all the meals were very tasty and the service was very good. All in all a nice experience and we shall be returning.

Pleasant surroundings and delicious food.

So we went to the Talisman for my wife's birthday with both of our teenage kids. The waitress was great, she explained they were a member of staff down so service was running a bit slow. It turned out that the service she gave was very good. Unfortunately, the thing that let it down was the quality of the food compared to the price. It was disappointing to order food that by its price would be potentially be the best burger I have ever ordered but unfortunately even though it was the most expensive burger I've ever ordered in a pub it was by far not the best. Three out of four of us ordered the pulled beef burger and the tiny burger encased in a long life bun with a smear of pulled beef served with a mini cup of chips was not what we were expecting. If you have a big appetite (which none of our group do), you will leave this pub still hungry or poor because you'll need 2 meals to fill you up. My 13 year old daughter was not full, and she eats like a sparrow. On a positive note, the pub has been recently renovated brilliantly, and the puddings were great, especially the cinnamon cheesecake.

Great visit today for a Sunday roast. The staff (Grace in particular) were friendly and accommodating, the food was delicious and served speedily. Will definitely be returning to sample the week day menu!

From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm smile and a friendly attitude that made us feel right at home. The Talisman normally has pretty a good vibe and great food, however went there for a roast a while ago, and it was pretty poor, they only had 2 beef roasts left, and it was just the scraps of beef, the whole plate didn't taste fresh. Will definitely come back, but I'll choose a roast elsewhere

Fantastic & attentive service from Annabelle, and Rosie, an impromptu afternoon trip with my wife and our 2 young children, and found a very friendly and welcoming service - we all ordered food burgers and hotdog, swift, and good quality - will come back for sure

Avoid at all cost for Sunday roasts. The worst customer service we have ever had. Never have the staff told us the roast was chewy and then she had told us that if we now ordered the roast we could no longer complain. Really?

The server millie was great and as helpful as she could be i have no complaints about her. The food was a disaster, 2 roast beef and 1 roast pork. The beef was genuinely tougher than old boots and even with a steak knife requested still was challenging to cut, no pink meat at all. The roasted parsnips and carrots had gone soggy I believe the meals had been served up and held under heat lighting for far too long. It was that bad the usual leftover doggie bag we knew would be pointless as even the dog wouldn't have eaten it. I did dispute the bill with a female manager with blonde hair and turquoise painted nails, this is why I feel I should review... absolutely appalling customer service, her attitude was generally who cares , whatever.... she did a discount on the bill because I had disputed it. Will I return... no... I would say no, not for a roast dinner but actually not with a manager attitude like that. Such a shame because the other H&W restaurants I have always enjoyed, I will be contacting their head office. Such a shame

Great atmosphere ,food average ,serving staff couldn’t be bothered,ordered soup for starter ,gets dumped on front of me ,has to go and get a spoon ,then realises there is meant to be bread and then realises there’s meant to be butter ,then after a 30min wait ,asked somebody for the main courses ,turned up where the mash had been stood under the heat lamp and had a skin on it ,great pub and good atmosphere but won’t be going back again ,sad to have to leave such a bad review

We enjoy coming to the Talisman! The pub is larger than most whilst also offering ample outdoor seating in the summer. Food is nice, service is good particularly from Honour and Annabelle Can highly recommend!

A lovely time today in a very relaxed atmosphere catching up with dear friends. The food was excellent, the environment perfect. I ordered the Roast Beef on Sunday 3rd Feb 2025. The beef was so tough, it was pretty much unedible. I chewed my way through the first peice, but then decided not to eat the rest it was so bad, so left it all on the plate. The rest of the meal was great - all the vegetables were cooked well and the gravy was good and it was all well presented. I feel really short changed as the meal cost the most part of £20 and it turned out to be a complete waste of money. The other two in my party who ordered the beef roast, both felt the same about the meat and left it.

Chloe served us, was lovely and the food was good quality. Will come again

Popular impressive pub and restaurant that has a lot of tables both inside and out. The food menu is varied, with additional specials, and good dessert choices too. If you want to eat it might however be advised to book, which you can do online via their website. Also did a good value 3 course Christmas meal for £30 in Dec. Which I've added the extra photos for.

Fabulous roast dinner! Contacted the pub in the morning who saved a couple of roasts for us. Delicious

Dropped in to meet a feiend who lives locally. Hadn't been here for over a year. It hasn't changed much. Busy on a Sunday evening, well laid out bar & seating areas, music not too intrusive for a good catch-up chat.

We had a lovely meal at the Talisman for my birthday last night. Really impressed with the service we received by Milly which made the whole experience even better. She was very personable from the start, had good knowledge about the beers, recommended food, was smiley and even served our pudding with a little happy birthday message. We also like the fact there was live music. All in all, we had a great night out and the food was good too. Recommend this pub!

Great pub, literally, a tiny stroll from where we were staying on a recent visit. Good selection of beers and other drinks with a menu that should cover most food tastes. Meals were generously sized and very tasty! All this served by friendly and welcoming staff. Our only regret was that we weren't staying another night so we could go back again! Maybe next time. 😁

We have been here before to eat and thought we would go back today? My wife ordered a Mac and cheese dish, it was very dry with no cheese sauce at all? I had chicken Schnitzel with skin on chips , it was totally tasteless and they were French fries instead of proper chips. I complained about the Mac and cheese and they said sorry, we can offer you a drink to say we are sorry? We will definitely never go back there again!

It was supposed to be a very nice relaxing day with a good meal good atmosphere to celebrate Christmas. First of all I walk in with followed by a white family behind me. We both stand and wait to be seated when the head waiter/manager comes along he goes straight to talking to the white family behind me and ignores me. Strike 1: Thankfully the white family were decent and corrected this white head waiter/manager’s errors, but he does not apologise for over looking me, strike 2: He tells me that I was 10min early I should wait and so I do, the white family who were behind me were then seated ahead of me this could be that their table became free first who knows, anyway I then wait a further 30mins to get seated, and a further hour for my food to suddenly show up and this was only when I started getting upset for having bothered to arrive on time for the timed booking and as you can see from the pictures when the food came it wasn’t fit to eat, I wouldn’t serve it to my CAT. While I appreciate that it was Christmas busy time etc, there is just no excuse for scheduling timed booking slots but then fail to uphold the level of service expected by the customers keeping me waiting for 30mins past the scheduled booked time slot is unacceptable and furthermore preparing my food and leaving it under some hot plate, before I am even seated at a table so that when I did eventually get it an hour later it was not fit for human consumption. Then to be informed that I should not be upset because they were busy… that is not my concern and I refuse to be treated in this disgusting manner and paying for food that was not fit for human consumption absolutely disgusting behaviour and appalling service would not recommend this pub to the public for any meals.

Food and service fine. But the car park is fraud! You have to register your car either on the way in or out. When I entered the counter where you register the car was crowded with people and I didn’t see it. There are virtually no signs of car parking penalties. I got a ticket and as my friends were paying I was driving. Suggest warning are on each table you are nothing more that day light robbers!

Lovely food, generous portions, welcoming and buzzing atmosphere, and great service from Sophie and Leah. I haven't been in a while and forgot how great the Talisman is - glad to see it's stayed great, and I'll be sure to come back a lot sooner next time!
