Lovely location and a nice ambience. Good start, greeted on arrival by manager and shown table. Food one drink orders taken in a reasonable time. Drinks arrived, food took an age. When it did come one “will be out soon” and one incomplete! Outstanding dinner came after 5 mins and the one missing an item was told will be out soon. After most had finished I reminded we still waiting to be told “we are very busy”. If three or four waitresses didn’t group chat at the bar regularly this may not have occurred? Service was random at best. On the plus side the food was very tasty and hot. Mid priced - around £20- £25 a head. Service lets the chef down in our view!

Lovely food, friendly and attentive staff. Sat in the garden area out the back on a sunny day 😁. Only thing, nothing major.. large table was booked inside, but nigh on blocked the door to go back in the pub. The table could have been situated better.

Love food staff were friendly had ham egg and chips could not fault it And the warm sticky toffee sponge with custard the custard was creamy The sticky toffee sponge was soft and fluffy and was not too sweet and had two drinks Will be going back again in a few days

Excellent Last minute booking on a Saturday evening. Rib eye cooked to perfection, even with my low carb tweaks. Great, attentive service with a timely check back. Clean loos and lovely setting. Would definitely return.

Terrible experience. A Thursday evening and every table taken - 1 waitress and 1 girl at the bar. We,had to wait 1 hour for our starters which were okay but my main meal was so overcooked I had a job to cut the chicken and the chips were overcooked to an unappetizing dark brown colour. My husband had the chicken curry which had about 5 small pieces of chicken in it and rice but no other accompanients and he didn't enjoy it either. This pub could be very nice if they changed whoever manages it and employs people who can actually cook. Needless to say we won' tbe back.

The food was mixed in quality but we had lovely service and the venue itself is reasonable but unremarkable. Reasonable price reflected the overall quality.

Visited on Sunday 1st September 2024. Had a lovely dinner and took a pudding home . Service was excellent really enjoyed our visit and would recommend and go back soon .

Home cooked food..Really?? Pate starter 10/10. Whitebait....mayo runout half way. Pie was very nice but not an all round pie. Fish n chips... Batter 10/10 had to ask what fish it was as no taste at all. The chips, bland not seasoned, some from previous fryings, peas not mushy peas. With wine and doom bar and cola £68.. worth it? Not at all... Service... plates just dumped on the table before asking whose was whose. Younger waitress had a smile though. Won't be returning

We are local and may be biased but this is an excellent pub. Home cooked food and great service, staff are always friendly and the beer garden is great.

Had an absolutely beautiful roast here today. Service was faultless. Nice friendly pub. Would definitely recommend. Very good value for money.

I'm not sure if new owners running it now but though the food was nice ,the portions you get for the price was pretty shocking, fries don't cost much ,at least put few more on plate left with out pudding as I didn't want to pay 8 quid for a table spoon of pudding, we were still hungry after this meal dissatisfied always loved this place ,I no inflation is high but that was a bit of a joke ,just under forty quid for 2 burgers tiny pot of coleslaw and maybe 12 fries if we were lucky each ,,

Came for dinner tuesday night we booked for 9 people the food was amazing the restaurant was busy for a midweek night but everything came out on time and the atmosphere was good ,attentive service aswell . I had the gammon steak with pineapple salsa which was delicious off special board and my parter had the forester chicken which he said was perfect for him and everyone one else all enjoyed their meals . Lovely place and clean we will be back again thank you for a great evening.

The food and service was incredible, such lovely waitresses and amazing value for money. The garden area is fantastic for children also, would 100% recommend!

Prices on steak went up 5 pounds,from 26 pounds,used to like going there ,wont go again sorry

Five of us came in here for a meal. Two of us had the Thai green curry. It was the worst green curry that I've ever had. Very watery with lots of onion and peppers and six small pieces of chicken. Exorbitant price of £17.95p. I went home hungry. Staff very friendly . But won't return.

Came up to visit family for a nice meal it was awful I wouldn't have fed it to my dogs . We sent 1 st lots back because it's was awful. Then 2nd lot came out the chicken was gray and blue so that went back just awful if you want a nicer meal go to the shop and buy a couple tins off winalot dog food you will be more satisfied.

Lovely traditional pub with excellent food. We went for Sunday lunch and the roast pork was really tasty. Good selection of vegetables too.

Travelled down from Cornwall for a wedding and randomly stoped here for Sunday roast with my family as we were hungry. The roast was lovely . And good service too. Came out quiet fast. Very happy. Would recommend:)

We came here for a business dinner, the service was speedy and the starters and mains were great, we felt a little let down by the desert and felt it had been microwaved. To be honest like I said the starters and mains were great so we were quite full. Other due side was not being able to find a menu beforehand online.

Absolutely amazing meals at the Bold Forester in Sarisbury Green. The Fish & Chips are delicious and well presented and very filling, and the flavour is totally amazing, their Pork Belly cooked to perfection, again the flavours blend and complement the food on the plate, fantastic value, the pub is in a lovely setting, and welcoming staff and atmosphere. We now regularly go to the Bold Forester

We popped in for a drink and some food and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The landlord was lovely and was happy to chat with guests while he kept busy. We'll definitely visit again soon

What's a lovely place. Arrived on a busy Sunday afternoon hopeful of a table, the staff despite clearly busy were more than accommodating. Food was without doubt the best I have had locally in a while. Nachos, pork belly ... just perfect. Staff all lovely. Will be back next weekend!!

For the second time in a few weeks my wife and I plus friends have had a lovely meal at the Bold Forester. Our first visit was for dinner, today we all had lunch. Very quick response to a request for a booking; excellent friendly staff; lovely meals; very good value. Highly recommended

Okay place, reasonable waiting time, pub food, nothing special, staff are friendly and helpful

As soon as I walked through the door I felt welcome the staff were very friendly. We ordered pie of the day and it was amazing. I would highly recommend to my family and friends. Can't wait to go back and try something else on the menu.

Nice and relaxing place to eat and there is a garden to chill out with the children.

I cannot fault this pub the service was attentive and the food was outstanding. I had sea bass with mango and avocado salsa, everyone in our group said their dish delicious. Pub was beautiful on the outside and inside. Restaurant quality food in traditional pub surroundings. I would most certainly recommend. Excellent food and friendly Excellent service.

Visited on a sunny early evening and sat in the garden. The food, drinks, service and general ambiance was very good. It would appear others have not not had such a good experience recently (two reviewers both who spelt manager incorrectly??) But for me I'd go back in a flash.

Our favourite place for eating in the area. Food here is consistently good. This is the closest pub to our house and so we use it fairly often when people come to stay. Everyone says how much they enjoy their meal, and you can almost guarantee a great meal. The garden is also a nice place for a meal or just a drink.

Staff are very rude, went to get served staff member said to another to serve me she pulled a face then ignored me, food arrived asked the staff for cutlery then member staff stood and a conversation with people in the garden ignoring the fact we couldn't eat with our hands, so went got the cutlery myself when this happen manger lady approach me very rudely in a disgusting Manor, NOT A FAMILY PUB AVOID Food rate very dry

Awful avoid if you want to eat frozen packet food, the sausage were off I wouldn't even feed them to my cats. Very unwelcoming, staff needs training having an underage girl behind the bar that can't serve well that says it all, Manger is unpleasant to speak to just starts shouting at the Customers. Not worth your time or money!!! Needs shutting down or new owners

Fantastic Father's Day beer and ribs , best ribs I've had in a while . Superb atmosphere and great beer garden . First time to visit , but will defo be back . My daughter's a weekly visitor , now I know why !! 😂😂❤❤

Popped in for a quick drink yesterday. Charged £15 for a pint of Cloudy HSBC and a large glass of Sauvignon.. Disgraceful price.Wont be going back

First Impression Good. Meals Look Decent. Their Plates Look fancy and Smart. Well I order The Pie of day and was Dissapointed in it. Description isn't how it descried saying it's in a Cased puff pasty which I thought top bottom and side with the puff pasty lid. But it look like it was just pasty on top and wasn't a pie. Flavours were there and Really nice. Loved the Mash potatoes but puff pastry was poor quality. I don't like to criticism but if it pie it has to be pasty all round and bottom and top. Doesn't matter of puff pasty lid on it or shortcrust. If I ordered something else I would proberly enjoyed it more. Filling was nice and mash was the highlight. Orange and lemonade was refreshing. Staff was Really welcoming and kind Service.

Good food again on second visit thought we would try again as service was rude first time , and yet again service with a smile missing . Asked do you know what you want then when ordering . Service here is bad. Which unfortunately means we went down the rd for a further drink as thought it would be too much trouble for them here , won’t be returning . No atmosphere either only moody waitresses .

Burger was lovely and moist, dripping all over the plate which I always take as a good sign of things to come. Staff did seem a little rushed when everyone piled in for lunch, but did a great job of taking my order quickly and with a smile. The pub has that old school feel and a lovely garden out front to sit and relax in the sun. Definitely worth a visit!

Very nice place. Definitely recommend. I personally loved the garden. It's super cosy. 👌 There's also a playground for children up to age of 8.

Only here for a drink. Nice arrangement of garden furniture. The barman deserves a gold star..

Great rack of ribs and food for all

This was a disappointment because the last time our visit was amazing. Staff were thin on the ground, food well below standard. Shall drive past in future.

We had an evening 4 table. The meal was good quality. Drinks & coffee fine. But kids being permitted to run in & out, scooters inside round tables. We've had kids & appreciate all been there. We were not the only table uncomfortable & yet another table with child was perfectly well behaved. This was mentioned to bar staff but continued. Its always a difficult call what is reasonable but it put a dampner on the evening & if families arrive with bikes & scooters it's obviously going to intrude.

The food is really nice, but if you go on a Sunday the service is often quite slow. We were in there for over 2 hours.

Lunch was lovely . Disappointed that they don't have de-caf coffee though .

Go here quite often but today very disappointing. Had steak and caramelised onions in a sandwich. The bread could of been fresher ! Steak was tough as old boots and in chunks yuk not one to complain but wish I had. Server seemed really peeved off. Hence didn't say anything. 3 out of 10 today.

Sea bass was absolutely perfect! Crispy, melty, full of flavour! Beautifully put on the plate and plenty of it. Very much enjoyed and appreciated, thank you chef :) lovely friendly service, comfy armchair, my dog was allowed and given water and I was able to buy him some chicken which made for a v happy furry customer too. There were blokes with beers and fruit machines, but the quality of the food not to be underestimated. A traditional English pub with a homely feel that I think would satisfy just about everyone.

Why it has taken us so long to return here l don't know. The food was excellent and plenty of it. The service was first class. I highly recommend The Bold Forester. Thank you. You are doing a great job, and we will be back.

Very small portion roast dinner for about 15 quid . Otherwise nice roast

Really great food and atmosphere, third time we have chosen here for out family birthday celebrations and they absolutely nailed the service again. Keep up the great work and see you for the next one.

I Been attening this pub on and off for years had 3 birthday partys here had my kids bithday party here it has not changed much and always been excellent. it has all the bits you want from a pub beams bar all the drinks picturse saying on wall and people even line up out side for it to open all nice and friendly and all way say hello even if they have not seen me for 2 or 3 years. and now i have kid use the play area. and now 4 genaration of the family love it.

Wonderful dog friendly pub. I have been to the pub for a couple of times, and I have tried a couple of dishes, and I absolutely loved it. The recent one that I had was the buffalo wings with cheese dip, which was really delicious.

We had beautifully cooked food and the team are so warm, friendly and welcoming! This pub is one of the few in the area offering great food and a proper pub atmosphere. Would definitely recommend. We went for my Nanas birthday as a table of 6 and the service was excellent! Can’t fault them. Keep up the great work, I’ll be sure to come back to try some more of your menu ☺️

The food was excellent and great value. The waiting staff and bar staff made a great atmosphere. The Scottish lady behind the bar had a great sense of humour. Will definitely visit again.

First time at The Bold Forester for Sunday lunch. The Sunday roast was delicious, great hot food, hot plates. My granddaughter requested another Yorkshire pudding and the staff were good enough to let her have this. The puddings were equally delicious. We will definitely return, when we visit family again.

Absolutely the best roast I've had in a pub in years!! All meat was tender (trio of 3), veg cooked to perfection. Very impressed. I'll not be going anywhere else In the future. The staff worked really well as a team and were very attentive, even though it was very busy. This is how a pub should be run!!

What a fantastic pub this is!! Visited with my family for a Sunday Roast for my girlfriend's birthday. Staff were all lovely and attentive! Food was great. Atmosphere was ideal for a cold, winter Sunday. And may I make note that it was so refreshing to see the owners speaking to and treating the staff well. Rubs off on customers well - and is a fundamental basic that far too many other establishments get wrong. Lamb shank was great!! Sunday roast was slightly small but very tasty. Will be back again soon, thanks for looking after us guys.

Absolutely love this place! Was so welcoming and cozy!! The food was amazing and MASSIVE! we even brought in our big XL bully which we was very worried about judgement due to the law but they was soooo lovely and kind it really put us at ease!! 5 stars will DEFINITELY come again! Very welcoming staff, attentive and a good warm atmosphere. Only disappointment for me - was that there wasn't a vegetarian roast option. I was offered more vegetables.. . but then advised the potatoes are cooked in animal fat, so I politely declined. I opted for a different meal, which was delicious.

Just had a late lunch here with my older parents - main course and puddings - 6 empty plates absolutely lovely. Compliments to the chef!!

SATURATED FAT AND HIGH CALORIES It's with great shame we have to report that there is a deep fry everything obsession to the menu coupled with huge portions. There are wonderful staff providing a great service but it is of artery clogging, high cholesterol, stroke inducing, stomach busting calories. Ditch the deep fryer and introduce a healthier menu and The Bold Forester could step out of being a net contributor to obesity in the Burseldon neighbourhood.

Just had to write a quick review on our visit last night (8.12 23) we were a table of 12 . Situated at back of the restaurant. So great area to have to ourselves ! Service was amazing ! Staff very friendly ! Food portions enormous! And so delicious, no complaints at all ! Didn't get to say thank you properly before we left ! We will definitely be back

Super meal as always , good value and better menu than the " chain establishments". Service excellent, very attentive and engaged with customers.

Well I booked The Bold Forester for a Birthday Sunday Lunch and was shocked to see the old landlord and landlady from when I used to use the pub years ago when they left I stopped using it as the food went down hill but it was good to see them back and the food was as good as ever I would recommend to anyone 10/10 glad you are back

Absolutely amazing! I had chicken with boiled potatoes, salad then chocolate ice cream, but my family had scampi and a roast dinner, everything was so tasty and looked yummy! Children loved the chocolate brownie and ice cream

Met friends for lunch and had an amazing time. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced. Even though it was busy, service was quick. Recommend reserving a table. Good car parking too.

Great food, good service. The kids love the outdoor play area. Only complaint was the food took just under an hour before it was brought out to us, also we ordered the kids ham egg and chips, there wasn't any ham left so my kid only got egg and chips. But sitting out in the garden is lovely. Staff are good. Will definitely come back.

This pub is fantastic 6 of us went for a meal and none of us could fault it, food was amazing, the service was amazing, the staff are so friendly it has a really great feel about the place and great value for money. highly recommend if you want romantic meal or even a family meal, well worth a visit

Very popular pub/restaurant with a varied and excellent menu. Large garden and play area. Parking tight but workable. Visited with 6 others (including twin 18 month old girls!). Will definitely visit again.

It was a buffet provided by the (work) committee manager. Good presentation. Nice quality.

Wow we popped in here by chance after the Southampton boat show, the food perfect atmosphere perfect and service spot on couldn’t recommend this pub more 👍
