The Rising Sun in Fareham

This is a great location for a pub. The staff and food are always great, the menu caters for everyone and the quality has always been consistent for us over the last few years. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff are friendly and attentive. Even when we have had issues in food or service the team have always been apologetic and offered a refund for the delay in food. Very much worth a try if you’re in the area. We don’t always book a table however they have always managed accommodated us even during busier times but it’s worth booking for peace of mind.

I go to this pub every time I am in Warash. The food is good and the staff are very helpful. There is also a great view out of the window of the River Hamble.

Fabulous service, Grace was very attentive and friendly. Would definitely visit again.

Had a birthday celebration family meal today, & I can't express enough the treatment we received. The staff are attentive & welcoming, the meal was fabulous & a treat for the birthday boy was awesome Our first time there but it won't be the last, a huge thank you to the staff.

Great atmosphere, pleasant staff and management

Been coming for many years and always had a good meal ,unfortunately for whatever reason the roast was not up to my expectations at all. Potatoes hard and dry as though they had been warmed up, brocolli stringy yorkshire pudding too dry as was the stuffing ball. This is a constructive critisism and hopefully things will improve as i use this pub a lot and look forward to meeting with family to have a good meal and not have to begrudge spending on something that is for me a treat.

Booked for Mother's day for 230pm roast got a lovely table by the window, host was so friendly and more than happy to help with some issues regarding extra person at last minute, change of times and sorted everything with great professionalism. Staff all so friendly, helpful, attentive with smiles on their faces even though it was really busy at times. Food was reasonably priced, didn't wait long, delicious and portions were more than enough -we couldn't manage pudding. My parents,live in Lee, really enjoyed it and it was the first visit. We will definitely be back. So glad we chose Rising Sun for my mum's special day. Thankyou!

On arriving at this beautiful restaurant, the landlady helped me and my family, through an easier door way, as I was in an electric wheelchair. She was so helpful and very accommodating. A very cheerful and kind hearted lady. Once in side I saw how Beautifully clean and stylish the seating area was, and bar. All the staff members were very accommodating and so kind and willing to help, with any of our needs. Once seated we ordered our drinks, followed by what seems to be, the most enormous Yorkshire puddings, I have ever seen. I ordered a Turkey roast, which melted in my mouth, there portion sizes are absolutely generous, any one with a big appetite would easily be satisfied. My family also received excellent quality of food as well. I would definitely highly recommend a visit here, we will all be going there again. 5 star.

Situated next to the River Hamble, this pub is very warm and friendly. Food is terrific with a good menu and great range of beers and drinks. We stayed for the quiz and had a fun evening and met new people. Leah and Barry are excellent hosts and are very welcoming. Now our favourite local inn to visit during our riverside walks.

First time visiting for a family meal. Beautiful food and friendly staff who couldn't do enough. Lovely sunset setting over the harbour too!!

Food was very basic and had to send two plates back. Staff were helpful and friendly but this place needs a better chef. Plates chipped and lots of food off the menu.

It was fantastic they were all in Irish gear as I was. The cider was lovely and refreshing as was the food. Well done guys ! I cycled to 3 other pubs on this Monday night having a half of Guinness in each and The Rising Sun shone out as the best ! One pub I visited in Sarisbury Green had not made any effort whatsoever! Such a shame. I will certainly come back to the Rising Sun again! I’m told their Sunday roasts are mouth watering.

Really disappointed with the visit here yesterday for my daughter's birthday. One of her starters wasn't cooked very well and was cold. Portion size and freshness was also really disappointing for the price which I think is being based on location now rather than quality of food. Sad as we've always had good experiences here before. Won't be coming again with loads of better competition around.

Fantastic pub with amazing staff! We love our little pub on the river...always welcomed with a smile and great food and drink! Today, Leah looked after us very well and we always enjoy her warm welcome - she is a credit to the wonderful team, thank you.

A great location for a pint by the harbour.

What a great idea, 3 courses of small portions for £10.99 or 2 courses for £8.99. Only available during the week. Service was great. Really nice place for lunch. We didn’t book a table but it’s probably a good idea especially in the better weather.

Plastic glasses outside, such a shame why does every other waterside pub allow glasses outside and you don't we often use spice island in Portsmouth and have glasses outside,

I have visited this place several times over the years and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by my recent visit as a treat for my mother, the staff were amazing and friendly, the food absolutely perfect if not better and the venue is fresh and comfortable, a definite must for everyone be it, light bite or full evening. Personally I won’t leave it long before a revisit.

Lovely place with great views, friendly staff, I feel that 1 waiter/waitress per area/floor is not enough... The young lad we had was very polite and did his job great however I felt like he had a lot to deal with being alone and there being many tables all at once... The food was good but we were served cold soup and the chicken starter was also Luke warm however we didn't send that back as we felt awkward complaining about the soup... We also had flat coke which again the waiter exchanged for us but the new ones were the same .. at this point it gets embarrassing to keep complaining so we didn't. The food orders were slow coming out in between courses, luckily we weren't in a rush but it did feel like a long drawn out lunch... Ended with a very lovely warm brownie and ice cream which we would recommend. All in all the food was lovely the service was great, minus the speed, food temperature and flat fizzy drinks, and the value for money was worthwhile, so we would return but with the hope that these minor issues are resolved.

We stopped for Sunday lunch after a lovely river walk with family. We hadn’t booked but were made to feel so welcome. We were shown to our table and drinks arrived in no time while we looked at the menu. Our orders were taken and any “tweaks” were no problem at all. So friendly and helpful. The food arrived in good time and all cooked to our individual requests and served looking fantastic and delicious. We could not fault a thing . Leah and Lauren served us and they were so helpful and friendly and hard working.it rounded off a beautiful day perfectly and we would definitely recommend the Rising Sun. Four of us celebrated a birthday at the Rising Sun at Warsash. The food was excellent, we loved the crispy fries & the fact the food was cooked to perfection. Service from Leah & Barry, was also very good, no having to wait or struggle to get the staff's attention to get service. Well done. Good Staff & Good food. Highly recommended.

Well appointed pub on harbour with car park opposite which costs about a quid an hour on a Sunday. We sat upstairs and our young waiter was excellent - good fun, bright and helpful. The roasts and the pie were all good. The sticky toffee pudding was indulgent and moorish. All in all a good showing

We love the Rising Sun, had a lovely walk from home - I had booked a table for 2 and asked for a sea view upstairs- that’s exactly what we got, had a lovely meal, starter of chorizo with prawns, was delicious and the garlic bread was amazing, one of the best I’ve ever had. Mains were lovely, delicious and plentiful- staff are friendly and so polite and accommodating- and as always Sharon is the perfect host - would highly recommend

Fairly traditional decor, but very good service and food at reasonable prices. Great in Summer to spill outside.

A nice pub overlooking the Hamble River. A warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Friendly and fast service. The food was lovely and we left clean plates. Reasonably priced as well. We will definitely be back and would recommend this pub to others.

We had an early evening meal but there were a lot of dishes which were unavailable however we made the most of what was available, sadly the available roast wasn't up to scratch with stringy beef and poorly cooked potatoes, none of the food was up to their normal standard and frankly if I was the chef I would have sooner closed the kitchen than serve up a poor quality meal!

On arrival after a tidy walk along the coast fromWarsash to opposite Calshot & return in the cold Sun we were welcomed into the the Rising Sun with smiles & come in welcome. It was busy but were fitted into a seat & served by lovely people & excellent food & drinks. Sharon & Charlotte ,Shannon were brilliant 10/10++

We had fantastic meals, the food was delicious, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had our 3yr old with us and the staff were brilliant with him, laughing And joking which made him feel super included, nothing Was too much trouble. I highly recommend the rising sun and we cannot wait to go back again.

Two previous impromptu visits for drinks led me to admire the reception from the staff, very friendly and helpful, however we popped in for food and this was a disappointment, typical pub food pretending to be something better, veg slightly undercooked with items missing, with waitress stomping over our seats to turn on the tv screen to advertise the pub itself and leaving on our seats what was on the bottom of her shoes without checking before she left, over subscribed and woefully understaffed, good location but would have preferred the pub to match, apart from one overstressed waitress the staff were kind but sadly very apologetic due to the long wait for attention, so lots of apologies, quite noisy and you are made to feel a little bit of a necessary nuisance. Would recommend going out of peak times and not expecting your money is enough to please anyone but the recipient of parking charges

Great coffee. Popped in for a quick warm brew after a bracing walk in the winter sinshine. Very crowded, very popular.

Absolutely amazing. Sharon, the landlady always makes us feel like we’re one of her special customers & both her & the staff have always got time to talk or laugh & joke with us, it truly was one of the nicest Christmas Days we’ve experienced. The food was beautiful, hot, plentiful & delicious. The atmosphere was relaxed & friendly. In fact we loved it so much we have booked again for next year. This was my first visit here, and I wasn't disappointed. A lovely location, friendly staff & good food. I went with friends and had the festive meal option. We all really enjoyed our meals. I will definitely go back again.

Hi Sharon. We ate at the Rising yesterday with a friend I had not seen for over 35 years. I know that it was very busy but service was terrible. Firstly the seats I wanted were unavailable, but I did request I believe seats by a window, instead we were in the middle of the bar with no views. I had to get up to remind the staff that we wished a drink and due to the wait we ordered food at the same time. Even then the drinks were very slow. Having eaten our main course we were left with the plates for ages and in fact we paid and left before they were cleared and we were never offered a desert or further drinks. Sorry to complain but it was embarrassing and I know the standard was well below that set by you and Gary. Regards David Knight

We received a very warm and friendly welcome when we arrived. Even though it was busy the staff found us a space and served us a very tasty breakfast. Great location and we will be back.

Nice location but service very slow and food tasted like it has been under a hot plate for a while. Great that it's dog friendly though.

Boxing day meal with my family. Vegan option for one family member was lovely. Steaks beautifully cooked. Lauren gave great service as always as did the other staff. Highly recommend.

Went on for a walk along the river on Christmas day , on the way back we spotted this pub , it was open , "welcome" signs out, people inside eating and drinking . We thought a nice pint of Guinness would be lovely after walking for a few miles so we walked in. The barmaid wasn't sure if she could serve us, some other lady said she has to ask if they can serve us, then after speaking with someone by the table she offered us a drink that we can have outside (I presume it was a slipway...🤣) we just wanted to sit down for 10 minutes and have a pint of Guinness. Bizarre.

Nice pub, good location and good beer. I was very disappointed with the food. I had the chicken burger and it was very small and over done.

We attended the Christmas Quiz (we do the quiz most weeks), and ate first. It was a very nice meal & the whole experience was very enjoyable. Lauren was fantastic as always, despite being rushed off her feet. Thank you all for a great night. 😃

This was our first visit. We were made very welcome. My dog was welcomed and we were advised of a bit of a wait for food. The staff were brilliant and attentive. The food was very good. Massive portions of soup, lovely crumble and everything hot and delicious.

Lauren is always such a pleasure to speak to whenever we have our weekly pub quizzes. She works so hard every single day and always has a smile on her face. Get that Christmas shift off! Well deserved x

Visited recently, as booked to have festive menu with friends. Food did not dissapoint, we preordered our choices and were plessed with portion sizes, quality of food and service by staff. The staff who served us were great, friendly, helpful and couldn't fault them. Would recommend this pub, it's customer service and food.

They have a great range on their menu, food was very very good 👍, the staff were very friendly and gave us great service. We will be booking again there so much we want to try on the menu.

The staff are very welcoming and friendly. We had a table downstairs in the front of the pub overlooking the water. Good varied menu that also caters for vegetarians, vegans and gluten free. We liked that you could order a 'light bite' which was also on the main menu but a smaller portion. Reasonable prices for lunch time 2 or 3 courses. Food was served quickly, was piping hot and was delicious.

We visited as we wanted to see the fireworks by the yacht club. We were so lucky go get a table upstairs where we had the most amazing view over the harbour and of the firework display. What a fantastic location! Our food was delicious, we both had the rump steak which was cooked perfectly and the Eton mess sundae was decadent enough to really feel spoilt. The wine was perfectly chilled and was far too easy to drink! We were expertly looked after by Charlie all night, who never made us feel rushed despite the pub being full to bursting due to the fireworks. In fact all the staff were fantastic, they dealt with the throng with professionalism and lots of smiles. It was a real shame about the idiot person who embarrassed himself in front of his children by making a fuss about having to wait to be served. Well done to the bar staff who maintained their professionalism despite the absolute arrogance being displayed. Overall, I can highly recommend the Rising Sun, we had a fantastic evening and will definitely be back!

Extremely well looked after by the host. Excellent table downstairs with a lovely view of the river and all the boating activities. 2 guests had the special lunch menu - lite bites- but were anything but that. 2 sausages and mash and gravy were wolfed down as was hunters chicken. Meanwhile I had an excellent sirloin with pepper sauce. The chips are really delicious, crispy on outside and fluffy on inside. Excellent value. Very relaxing birthday lunch get together

Made very welcome although we hadn't booked. Food delicious and served quickly.

Went for Sunday lunch and the roast. The menu stayed the roast beef is pink so I chose this option. When it arrived, it was like shoe leather, DEFINITELY not pink! The roast potatoes were white, no colour on them at all, so I doubt they were roasted in the oven. This has to be THE worst Sunday roast I have ever had!! Horrible!

We visited the Rising Sun on a busy Sunday lunchtime and were glad we had booked. There were eight of us and we all absolutely loved our food choices. I had the roast turkey which was delicious and piping hot. The lady who served us was so friendly and welcoming. She really is an asset to the place. All in all we all said that we would definitely return and recommend it to our friends!

Friendly staff and tasty food with a fantastic view over the water at Warsash, what a lovely place to stop off for lunch. We opted for a combination of main menu & light bite options which was perfect for the two of us. Table service was provided by Charlotte who was exceptionally busy but so efficient and never let her smile or friendly approach waiver…. Superb service, great food, I’d absolutely recommend to everyone :-)

We went in to eat but we're kind of ignored with employees just walking past us, after waiting a while we decided to sit at a table but then was moved because we were in the wrong place. This problem occurred due to being ignored. Food was nice price's were reasonable.

It was a very busy Friday. Additionally a large party was booked in. Although the staff were clearly under pressure, they were attentive and very efficient - special mention to Ben, who was attending to kitchen work as well as waiting table. The food was good, well priced and served well. Had a really nice couple of hours in a great atmosphere. Thanks to all.

Attended today for our Uncles wake. A marvellous send off for Terry. The staff were courteous and friendly. Sympathetic and the food was lovely. Incredible views shared in the post at a historic location. I look forward coming back in happier times.

The Rising Sun is one of my favourite pubs in the area, with its superb location on the water’s edge, friendly environment and staff, and good food. I often go there when I have friends or family visiting and did so recently when we were able to sample the new menu. My eyes lit up when I saw that Lamb Shank has returned to the menu after an absence of several years. The lamb shank was served on a bed of mashed potatoes in a bowl holding the mint gravy, accompanied by broccoli and carrots. The meat was so tender it almost fell from the bone, the mash was buttery and creamy and the gravy was rich and succulent. What a delight. One of my friends followed my recommendation and agreed it was delicious. The menu includes some standard pub items – one of our party had Lasagne – and a number of not so common items – two others had Chicken Schnitzel. Everyone was very happy with their choices.

We had a lovely impromptu midweek dinner at the Rising Sun this evening, we were greeted & seated by the lovely Sarah, we both ordered burgers and a beer on their current burger deal, my Italian chicken burger was delicious, my husband also thoroughly enjoyed his, thank you

The mash was tasteless, the veggies were boiled too much and tasteless, the chicken was severely overcooked, was like hard rubber. The view and location were great, staff friendly, but the quality of the food for the price point was not on point. Sorry will not be going back.
