A local pub.. when we went there was no kitchen... So no food... The service was self service... The place was not clean... The only good thing was the beer which of course we called plain

What kind of manager verbally intimidates a woman who was kindly explaining we couldn't stay for lunch after parking in the carpark as her dog was unwell after a walk? Cowardly pathetic moron.

I've not been to this pub for a very long time, and to be honest, we were a little disappointed when we saw the menu had changed (under new management). We were expecting a smokehouse grill type meal but that is no longer available. However what we had well exceeded expectations (we had hot beef baguettes, with some fried onions and chips. A simple meal but so often places get it so wrong. My friend and I can honestly say this was the best beef baguettes we have every had - the meat was very tender, tasty and loads of it (home cooked and locally sourced) , the bread very fresh and the chips were perfect. Mustard and horseradish were provided (without asking) along with other condiments. The service was exceptional - both the landlady and her son couldn't have been more pleasant and helpful - and really catered for the fact my friend was disabled. I totally recommend The Swan. I would now like to try the roast dinners on a Sunday. Thank you The Swan - we really enjoyed our visit.

I give them 1 start simple because of there disrespect to the neighbourhood. They blasting music way and beyond limit for the whole day during the weekend. They forget the some people simple want some peace and quiet over the weekend! I will also complain to the council and make sure they will be shut.

Food is still great (thanks Becks) but now under new management who have changed the crockery, plates are smaller and the desserts are served on a swallow dish which is useless for dessert with custard, pretentious not practical. Would be five star if the old crockery was being used. No longer doing food except for Sunday carvery. So more like a good old fashion country pub (still great thanks to Becks).

if i could i’d give it 0 stars. Disgusting transphobic behaviour from (i think) the landlady. Obviously don’t have any training or requirement of anti discrimination. Feel sick to my stomach of witnessing a hate crime in a place where you’d think would be a safe space. never returning.

Visited twice during the week as a non-regular. No food was on offer, however; the service in the bar from the staff was excellent. The service was polite, pleasant and engaging. The selection of beer is varied and good. The Doom Bar on hand pump was excellent. The clientele was ‘interesting’. The photos didn’t quite match the venue. It needs a little tidying up and making more inviting. The price of a pint is good. Would I go back? Yes.

Went for the Sunday carvery today. I am visiting from Australia and missing my Sunday roast I couldnt wait to try one. I am a bit of a roast critic I would say and am fussy. Well, this was hands down one of the best roasts I have ever had. A great choice of meats- beef, turkey, gammon and pork. Good choice of sizes- small was even massive so is enough for most. Medium was huge! And absolute value for money- 8 pounds for small 11.50 for medium. A bargain these days and well worth every pound. I would happily pay 15 pounds for it. Veg cooked perfectly, nice stuffing beautiful yorkies. Meat was nice, good choice of veg and sauces. Nice gravey. Only crackling was burnt that was the only minor thing but atleast it was crispy haha. Will 100% be back when we come over again. The lady serving was very friendly and attentive too

Had a fantastic Mother’s Day meal with 10 of our family. The food was tremendous value and beautifully cooked. And the service couldn’t be faulted. Highly recommended.

Amazing carvery, very friendly good old fashioned pub. Various portion sizes available and takeaway option available if you don't manage to eat it all.

Had to leave a review as felt bad we left a fair bit of food... but that was because the portions are VERY generous and most of our group aren't the biggest eaters so it was not a reflection on the quality. I had 3 options from the tapas menu and I'm hindsight would have been more than full with just 2. The waitress was very friendly and helpful especially with the lil one, definitely got herself a new lil friend 😁 there. Very nice little restaurant section which is away from the main bar area so no noise carries through either. Everyone was more than happy with the food that they managed to eat and would be more than happy to visit again if in the area.

Was in the brunch queue at John Lewis, and thought naa I remembered the Swans Omelettes. 30 mins later I had the most delicious bacon and cheese omelette with fries and a mixed salad. Gorgeous! No picture as the food had my attention and now all I have is an empty plate. Lovely!

Great value for money. Large hot portions served by friendly staff. Choice of either two or three types of meat. I chose two and that was more than enough. Help yourself to as much veg as you want. Highly recommended.

Oh no. I ordered delivery veg curry and rice (I didn't fancy chips), but instead of rice there's fries. Right now the rest of the family is eating their food while the rice cooker is on. Last time my wife ordered sweet potato chips, but got chunky chips...

We got delivery from here today and it was INCREDIBLE! Food was half an hour early and so fresh. the portions were absolutely huge. Made a bad day very good ^^ find them on Just eat!

I took my father out for a drink, trying to discover a new 'local' for him. This lovely old pub on a main road has lots of outdoor space. A young woman sitting outside called out a cheery welcome. Sadly, the cheerfulness didn't extend to inside. There is a lovely fireplace with a cheery electric fire in it - switched off. I only saw one lamp. The rest of the lighting (only ceiling lights) were dull and cold. This meant that the room had no warm, welcoming atmosphere a all. To my father's disgust, his bottled beer was accompanied with a plastic 'glass'. Dad's parents ran a pub. He's spent his adult life enjoying beer in pubs across the country. He wasn't impressed with this one!

This is the hardest review I’ve had to write, mixed emotions I will do the bad bits so I can finish on a positive The pub looked interesting with a saloon/ cowboy theme on website, sounded brilliant and we wanted to give it a try. The pub is a bit clicky with lots of youngsters. The bar and dining area is very small considering the building looks huge from the outside. No cowboy feel, very plain outdated eating area with approx 5 tables. Everyone outside drinking take the shortcut through the dining area which is great when you’re trying to eat. The cowboy ambience is 0! We came to eat and after I’d washed my hands after handling a filthy sticky menu the food came without delay. I can’t think of the last time I’ve been to a pub and everything came out home cooked. Chicken Curry, cottage pie,chicken burgers, all served with amazing chunky chips. To Summarise, if you want great affordable home cooked food, it’s a great place to go. The ambiance’s and decor aren’t great, such a shame, this could easily be excellent. Plenty of parking and friendly staff.

Used to be an awesome gastro pub but on our last visit yesterday the service was shocking and the food was to salty and my chicken was drier than the Sahara desert.

An old pub with history now turned into a steakhouse so lost some history. Still has reasonable outside area and car park

In shielding 106 days, got to form my "support bubble" this weekend. Decided to have a "Parole Party" with my friend and her family by way of a special traditional Sunday Carvery Lunch (but I am still not allowed "out"). Had heard great things about he Swan's Carvery, so booked 6 x "large" carveries over the course of a couple of emails with the Swan. Now, I like a plateful, but even my belly, which can expand to Buddha proportions if needed, struggled! It arrived on time, piping hot, absolutely Delicious ! Across the 6 of us, we had all the meats, all were lovely slabs of well cooked tasty meat: not the thin slivers of catering meat you sometimes get if you opt for a delivery service. I knew which one was mine, since they had customised my meal box (see pic!), which was a lovely touch: I am not a regular, or known to them, or anything. My friends daughter had baked me a "Welcome Home" cake too: which will be eaten after a late " tea" of Roast Pork with Bubble n Squeak!. Perfick !

Also posted this under Smokehouse saloon as that's the name of their restaurant. We had ribs, chips and coleslaw delivered locally and it was gorgeous. The ribs were the dry sort so some might prefer ones with sauce but they were very good and very generous portions. Trying the roast this weekend.

I often have food here as I work very nearby. The service is always good and the food is great value for money. The lasagne is the best pub lasagne I’ve ever had. It tastes like a proper home made lasagne and not a microwave job like you tend to get in a lot of pubs!

Absolutely awful experience but not the worst I’ve ever been to. When we arrived the restaurant was empty and during the whole time we were in the restaurant we were the only diners which did concern me slightly that there was no one else in there however I just put this down to it being the first Saturday after Christmas and that normally being a quiet time. At first we were seated but not given menus and when we were they then took our orders of drinks and starters but no mains. We waited probably the normal amount of time for starters to arrive and the starters were nice to be fair - nachos really decent, bbq chicken wings were average (blue cheese dip was a bit weird) and the cheesy garlic bread also average for a pub. After our starters we then ordered our mains - which I have never done in a restaurant before however we didn’t think much of it. Anyway we ordered our mains however these did take a little longer to come out and by that point none of us were really that hungry and we were even more disappointed when again they food was average / below average. The St Louis Ribs were tasteless and the Home Cut Chunky Chips just tasted like cheap vegetable oil and really greasy. The St Louis Rib Tips as part of the Cowboy Tapas were also really bad, extremely fatty and greasy and they did not look appetising at all. The 4oz Beef Burger as part of the Cowboy Tapas would have been a lot better if it was in a bun which really wouldn’t have cost that much extra to make it nicer as it was just a dry beef burger on top of salad with no sauce or anything. The Pulled Pork was nice but smothered in a really rich bbq sauce. The Cajun Chicken Tenders again tasted really greasy but the chicken inside was good quality chicken and the Cajun sauce was nice. The Mac and Cheese was a bit greasy but overall just average pub mac and cheese. There were a few good parts about our experience which is why I didn’t rate it a 1* - they did give us a baby fork for the small child who was with us and they did put proper corn holders in the corn on the cob which we’ve not had anywhere else before however apart from that and the nachos being good the rest of the experience was poor. The staff didn’t seem like they knew what they were doing. When we arrived and said we had a booking they said there wasn’t one, then when we checked they realised they had put it down for 4:30 rather than 6:30 when in fact 4:30 was the time we rang to book the table. The young waitress was really sweet and lovely and could have done with a bit more training but I felt she didn’t really have anyone to look up to as a role model in there to inspire her. The female chef whilst we were eating was really friendly however once it was clear we were finished and after explaining that we were really unhappy with the St Louis Ribs meal as it was just tasteless and greasy she was actually quite rude which we were shocked by. She then came back after she had cleared the plates and told us she had taken it off of the bill but didn’t apologise for the meal being poor she just tried to justify why the meal was like it was. Anyway the plates were cleared and we were brought our bill (minus the St Louis Ribs meal) and we paid in one go. After when we sat and actually worked it our we realised we had been over charged for 4 side dishes. On the menu the ribs meals come with 2 sides (like a lot of the dishes do) but we had been charged these as extra on the bill. When we told the bar man about this as we were leaving he went and spoke to the female chef in the restaurant and then came and said he would do the refund. When putting it through the till he explained he was just trying to figure out how to do it as he didn’t actually work there and in the end gave us the refund in cash when we did in fact pay on card. To be honest we were glad to leave and we will never go back there again. I feel like the staff would benefit from more training, the food could be made better - maybe a smaller menu so that things done well and the food can be tasty, also I felt like the sauce was overpowering.

We arrived at 7.45pm to eat. I found the pub from the good reviews on trip advisor. We we were advised the kitchen had just closed and not willing to do any food despite the pub saying food until 8pm.

Thanks to all at the Swan for making my husband’s 70th birthday lunch special for all the family - ages ranging from a lively 2yr old, through hungry 30+s to the birthday Granddad himself. Thanks for the extra touches at the table and the candles at dessert time. The carvery choices were plentiful and we really appreciated the extra gravy too. The outside space provided entertainment for all and a place to (unsuccessfully) attempt family photos . . . . 2yr olds are not designed for 10 second delays on camera automatic timers!

I booked The Swan for a family Mothers Day lunch as it had great reviews for the carvery. I'm pleased to say it didn't disappoint. A choice of beef, pork, gammon, lamb and turkey, lots of fresh vegetables, cauliflower cheese and delicious gravy!A good selection of proper puddings - jam roly poly, sticky toffee pudding etcAll for very reasonable prices. Adults, older kids and smaller kids prices. The only downside was halfway through our meal the music was turned off and replaced with live football. I would have given 5 stars otherwise.

We have been here a number of times for Sunday lunch. You normally have to book, as it’s always busy, which is usually a good sign. The choice of meat is more than other carvery options in the area. The atmosphere is laid back and friendly. I highly recommend this place.

Passed this pub several times on the way to work. Made the bf book a table for valentines... Walked into a dead atmosphere, something resembling the cowboy feel of tumble weed rolling past, but despite that we sat and ordered our romantic meal. omg the food is gorgeous and then the locals started to appear out of nowhere and the weekly quiz started and I’m now wishing this was my local!!! Amazing pub, your wasting your life if you haven’t had a visited!!

Lovely home cut chips with a great steak

Had our U14s Bourne parents Xmas meal here. 14 covers served to perfection and to a high standard. Even boxed up 2 meals for a couple who couldn't attend. The restaurant was packed with other parties. I don't know how they did it, but well done the team.

We called in on spec and had a gorgeous meal. Chicken chasseaur and liver and bacon, both were huge meals and very tasty. The service is great and the staff are very welcoming and friendly. We will visit again soon and try the steak house menu. Highly recommended and a great place to eat

Like this place it is our local. The food has always been nicely cooked and tasty, good value for money, they are always happy to make room for you if they are busy and welcome families to eat there too. Love the option of outdoor eating on the summer days.
