Very welcoming as we entered. Varied menu and oh my gosh...the food was lovely. We had whitebait and crab cakes to start. I dare you to try the steak and ale in Yorkshire pudding. Just didn't have the space for pudding. We shall return. Also cleanliness is to be mentioned here. They obviously take great care to ensure hygiene regs are kept up. Totally recommended.

Pub was near enough empty on a Saturday afternoon - love a good country pub which will give you a warm feeling regardless of outside temperature. Beer ok , prices good- the landlady decided to appear from nowhere and be very grumpy about us putting coal on fire even though it was nearly about to go out. All for telling a customer not to do something maybe word it differently and show a bit of personality- very rude and to be fair coats grabbed and decided to leave - need to have a think about your customer service going forward - nothing to do with health and safety as you stated get a grip.

I ate at this place with my family. A party of 8. While most of us were satisfied with the food, there were some areas for improvement. The kitchen doesn’t know how to cook a steak for example. I ordered the surf and turf and when asked how I’d like the steak I said medium. What I got was well done and it was as tough as a bear’s backside. My Dad also had a very tough gammon steak. I also asked the waitress what type of steak came with the surf and turf and she said sirloin. It wasn’t sirloin, it was rump. As the price for rump steak and chips is £15.95 and the price for surf and turf was £22, I paid £6 for 3 tiger prawns. Some people do know the difference between sirloin and rump steak, the staff obviously think their customers are a bit stupid! In summary, some of my family would go back. I won’t be.

Went here for lunch today and extremely pleased with service and food. The steak was cooked just as ordered and chile was of good flavour without being too strong. Shared a treacle pudding and custard for dessert which was nice and light but portion size was too large for just one of us. Staff were very efficient and pleasant so overall a decent lunchtime experience

Village pub that has probably, in fairness, seen better days. Menu looked great and they accept dogs, hence our decision to visit. Although staff were lovely, the service was rather slow and our dining area had buckets to help catch water from the ceiling and smelled quite damp.... also appeared to be a bit of a storage area. Covid register had last been signed two weeks before our visit (by Borsi Johnson of 10 Downing Street!) so maybe helpful to be mindful of this if Covid security is important to you. If you are looking for pub grub and are unfussy about surroundings, it's worth a shot but it's less ideal if you want something a little smarter.

I met up with my brothers and their wives at the Swan pub after my mothers internment for drinks. Due to us living in different localities out of the immediate area is not very often we can all meet up together. On arrival the pub was nearly empty apart from some children in the bar who were the bar lady's. I asked where the toilets were in which she pointed to in a very direct fashion. When returning to the bar my family had settled at a large table at the front of the pub. Drinks were ordered but the bar lady appeared very miserable and unwelcoming. One factor I know was the coffee machine not working properly but we were made to feel like an inconvenience foto dering it. The whole time we were there she kept looking across at us, rolling her eyes and making faces due to us having some papers spread out on the table and discussing the family tree which my late mother had worked on researching. we probably spent about a hour in the pub and left after one drink due to the unwelcoming atmosphere. It was a very close escape that we had gone elsewhere for lunch before arriving! The pub had a very different feel to it from when i last visited a few years ago and from my childhood memories of growing up around Moulton.

Following an invitation for lunch at The Swan by some long-distance friends, we were a little apprehensive due to some of the negative comments on this site. However - on arrival we found it both clean, tidy, and with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Lunch and drinks for four from their very varied menu ( something for everyone's taste ) consisted of chicken in Stilton, home-made fish pie, Singapore noodles, and home-made steak and ale in Yorkshire pudding - all served by a most pleasant and attentive waitress. Desserts were a delight - and we were not rushed at all. This just goes to show you cant always rely on other peoples judgement, and we will now be meeting at The Swan every three months for our regular get-together's Thanks to all for a great lunch !

Was told about this pub/restaurant by my sisters neighbour, & needed to go out to dinner for my wife's birthday, booked a table for 3 people, for 7 pm, arrived there at 6;55 to be greeted by very friendly staff who welcomed us, got us drinks & sat us to our table, after a very short wait we had ordered our starter & main courses, from a very comprehensive & varied menu, the food was served quite quickly by a very friendly waitress, ( I think she may have been the landlady) the mains where served after a short while, I could not believe the size of the portion, even the chips came in a bucket as there was no room on the plate!, After we had finished dining I was amazed at the bill, I was expecting a lot more than the total, from where I live in surrey, that would have just about been the cost for 2 people, All in all, I'd recommend The Swan to anyone .

Disappointed is the word. 10days previously my friends had dined in this venue and had a marvellous mixed grill. On the strength of this we made a booking for four. The beer was fine with a good selection of real ails and ciders. It took a while for the food to come but this was not a problem as we were in no hurry. We ordered starters, two mixed grills, a steak and a chicken dish. All steaks were ordered med rare. Starters were fine. All steaks arrived well done, cooked right through with no red in the centre. One was so bad it was tasteless and sent back; we were then informed that med rare was in fact without any trace of red in the centre and cooked through. Not our interpretation of med/rare. Mistakes happen. However, to then dish out total bull and insult our intelligence as well is insult to injury. We paid and left. When asked if everything was ok, we reiterated the events and were told that’s how we cook our steaks. So little concern for our comments. We won’t be back. I can only assume it was a different person cooking to the week before. However, reading the recent reviews it would appear that the cook tends to overcook the food. For the avoidance of doubt, (Swan, please pin on the wall by your cook)Medium-rare: The centre of a medium-rare piece of meat will be slightly warmer and reddish-pink instead of red. (approximately 130 degree core temperature)

Have been to this pub on several occasions. Today is the last time I will go there. My partner asked for his pint of beer to be topped up & received a reply from the bar manageress "I always like a head on my beer" then the waitress, mother of the bar manageress came to take our order. My partner asked if we could take a few minutes to choose our food. Whereby the waitress promptly replied "I have tables booked & you will have to wait" which in my opinion was not a necessary comment. We drank our drink & decided that after the way we had been spoken to we were not inclined to stay for food. Upon leaving I spoke to the bar manageress regarding why we were not eating there & her mother appeared. I told her that her reply was uncalled for & she stated that my partner had told her to go away. This was not true, she was asked to give us a few minutes for us to make our choice. The bar manageress then said my partner had been rude asking for his pint to be topped up, all to save him 10p. When in fact it is the pub that saved 10pence worth of beer. Neither of the women could understand my point, regarding the comment made by the waitress. I was then told by the bar manageress that they don't need customers like us & to leave the pub. She then came from behind the bar & told me she was opening the door for me. I told her that it was unnecessary & rather petty which was then answered with "take a look in the mirror love" I have never been spoken to like that in my 60 years & certainly never been thrown out of anywhere. I was not loud when I voiced my opinion & was certainly not rude, unlike the two women concerned.

Always enjoyed meals here. Well cooked, well presented standard dishes. So, what has gone wrong? Last meal the chicken was very dry. Have been again and this time the chips were dry and over cooked to the point of burnt. No salad garnish with scampi but there was one with the steak and kidney. Sort yourselves out, we shall not be visiting again and if this poor standard continues I doubt we shall be the only ones.

I was a guest at a family dinner. On arrival I noticed the host was being verbally attacked by a member of staff because two people did not turn up. It was not her fault and she was very upset. The meals arrived and the waitress could not tell which were beef and which were lamb. The food was “warm” not hot and very dry. There was a mix up with the desserts and the blame was put on the customer. We were not offered the tea and coffee which were included in the menu. All in all a very disappointing experience.

I came with family as my mum had prebooked a meal. When we got there a couple of people in the group had decided to go home and so didn’t attend. The woman behind the bar (presumably the host) was extremely rude to my mum and seemed irritated that less people were coming. This is despite the fact that there were 18 of us that were there and therefore bringing them in a lot of money. They then followed this with terrible service. I was stood at the bar waiting for about 15 mins to get served and it wasn’t busy. I wouldn’t mind but I wasn’t even acknowledged until just before being served. Another guy, who I assumed was a regular, went to the bar and was served during this wait. The food seemed rushed, they couldn’t tell what was beef and what was lamb, they said they looked the same. When they offered dessert they told us there was no cheesecake once we began ordering as opposed to before when we were choosing. They then spent so long bringing this out that the first people had finished eating before the last ones arrived. The last 2 were wrong, and the waitress had the tenacity to ask if we were sure we hadn’t ordered it!! Finally, the tea and coffees which were supposed to come out never materialised after 20mins so we decided to leave.

Lamb steak was fine, but it hadn't been marinated, just mint sauce from a jar poured on the steak and plate, potatoes were brown, bruised from the peeler machine, properly brought in, also left to long in the potato white, as they had the texture and look. Some 10 minutes later I said to my daughter that I was supposed to have fresh seasonal vegetables, they did arrive eventually, but by then to late.

Visited with my family for a pre Christmas lunch, surprised that the menu was that of all year round and not festive. Nice to have a sit and drink before the meal. Had pre booked a table which we were shown to. Not much Christmas feel in the restaurant part apart from three gold bells in the arch way. Staff very friendly and welcoming. Meals were slight disappointment as steak was more well than medium on two plates. Nice chips served in metal buckets. Nothing to shout about, plenty of choice and also a daily menu on a chalk board. I used to be a regular years ago and returned for a get together with friends and was very pleased they looked after us so well. Friendly staff new decor and a lovely layout of tables that retained the old pub feel but with a modern twist. The food was very good and great value, everyone enjoyed their meals of home cooked foods. What made it great as well was that we ordered the food in advance so we arrived had a drink with each other and when taken to the table all the food arrived hot and at the same time. Sounds simple but many places get the timing wrong and there's nothing worse than 2 people watching 8 others eat ! So well done and thanks. I can only conclude those not satisfied went to another pub :)

We have visited this place on a number of occasions and there's always a good atmosphere. We had a delicious Sunday roast here today, all nicely cooked and very tasty. We also visit sometimes on a Wednesday evening when they have certain events, such as a disco or quiz. A finger buffet is sometimes included and this is always a tasty treat. If I could give a zero review I would, took 7 calls for someone to answer, this isn’t because they were busy but because the bloke didn’t want to take the order, when we finally got through ordered, was told it would be 20 mins, 45 mins later and a call to them, was informed my order had gone from Moulton Chapel to Holbeach to Weston I live in Moulton Chapel guess my meal will be cold IF it ever arrives, told them to cancel order she does not have drivers phone number REALLY so over an hour and still waiting for a cold takeaway, told them to cancel our order, which they agreed to do, but how they don’t have the drivers number, would not recommend delivery from this take away
