The Swan in South Gloucestershire

Visited here for dinner on 11/09 during a walking holiday. Nice decor and welcoming staff. I had a pint of Gem, and was able to use (their only) beer jug! Wine list was good and the pinot blush was approved by my partner. Starter portions were good, the pork bites were very nice as was the Bruschetta, then I had the burger and she had the Gnocchi. Both were good sized portions and very tasty! It was so friendly we popped back for a pint the following lunchtime and were recognised as soon as we walked in!

My Go to pub for a pint of Timothy Taylor Landlord & warm porkies. Always get a warm welcome and beers always good.its my stop for a quickie whilst children & wife’s busy however I do bring the wife sometimes😄

Visited the Swan at lunchtime as a foursome. Comfortable surroundings with good attentive service. Starters lovely but mains overcooked- steak pie becoming a little dry and chips totally overcooked by the time the main course arrived at our table. Sweets superb. Nice place but shame about the mains.

Nice pub, great area, some very friendly bar staff, food average, fish not cooked enough, wrong chip order. Waitress agreed to change chips when tried very politely to say fish batter undercooked she made the face "oh for goodness sake" and marched off fish came back chips were changed, fish was still the same. It's a great location with some great staff, I am hoping this was a one-off with the waitress's attitude. Wine is good, I rate as average, but could be great for a relaxed day/evening without too many expectations. Cat TT

We ordered some burgers and a mac and cheese for our child and baby. Don't mind paying 7 quid for a kids meal but it was literally just a bowl of maccy cheese, no veg or cucumber or anything. Staff seemed very confused on where all the food was going and what table numbers were. We asked for the macaroni cheese first, which came after ours instead. My burger came with chips instead of mash which I asked for. The mash came out about 15 minutes after.. which I had eaten my meal nearly by then..and they gave us about a teaspoon of coleslaw with our burgers. For 16 quid a burger I expected a bit better. Don't think I'll bother eating there again.

I’ve lived within few miles for several years but never been. We booked last minute for some food and weren’t disappointed. It’s a proper “locals” type pub but was very welcome and “warm” atmosphere. The home made pie was lovely and the staff were great. Will definitely return. Recommend highly.

Fantastic Sunday lunch, great place to have a meal and relax, nice beer garden, staff friendly, thought bitter was expensive at £5.50 a pint but might not be?!

Almost £17 for a very small burger with square packet cheese and frozen french fries . My partners veggie burger was inedible and clearly been re- deep fried. Oh, and the tiniest dollop of coleslaw. We did ask for a bit more coleslaw and received an even weenier dollop which seemed more like mayonnaise with some bits in. When we asked they helpfully replaced the veggie burger but the truffle ravioli had the texture of wet cardboard. With half a pint each we spent £50 for the 2 of us!!!

I went here on a Saturday for a birthday meal and I couldn’t recommend this place enough for a gathering! The service was great, always asked if we needed anything and the food came out quick. I had the chicken burger, which was so nice and others in the group also said the same. It’s got a fantastic beer garden and, when the weather is nice, it’s great for taking kids as they have a small play area. Really enjoyed my afternoon here and will DEFINITELY be coming here again!

I had the southern fried chicken salad at £15.45 you would expect more than 2 goujons ……. Service was good and staff pleasant . My husbands starter popcorn chicken had at least 3 times more chicken content . You really need to address this , I was too embarrassed to make a fuss so we paid and left .

The service seemed a bit chaotic, we booked but were just told to go sit anywhere, unfortunately we booked for the bank holiday Monday after their “swanfest”, so food choices were limited as out of stock, food was decidedly average, and belly of pork with no crackling! We probably wouldn’t return, it wasn’t bad but just nothing special

First time visit on Sunday. Roast was average, had to ask for condiments and twice for a jug of water. Roast chicken was odd, small drumstick, thigh and small amount of breast. Be warned, wasn't given a bill when I paid, had to ask for a receipt and then realised a service charge had been applied, for 3 people. Having messaged the Swan, had to message 2 days later due to no response, to ask if this is printed on their menus as I was not made aware of the service charge upon paying.

Nice pub, very nice garden albeit a bit close to mai road. Pricey food especially beer £5.45, rip-off!!! Never again. Nicer pub up the road Crown at Kelston.

I can not recommend The Swan enough. The staff there are also exceptional. We had the most amazing day. From the time of booking to the day they made it so easy. The food was fantastic and plentyfull, we sat with them to sort a very varied menu and they definitely delivered on the day. We have had nothing but positive feedback from our quests on how much they enjoyed the meal. All the staff delivered a service second to none, we could not have asked for better. The marquee is a fantastic space to hold any gathering, bright, warm and welcoming, we were able to decorate the night before, it looked so lovely. The car park has ample parking and it was made easier for us being able to organise a minibus to go into Beth for the ceremony. Although the weather wasn't the best, the park for the children is an added benefit, also the outside bar worked really well. Thank you once again all staff of The Swan, we can not praise you enough for giving us such a fantastic day to remember. Dee & John Palmer

Stopped off for Sunday lunch, something that I’m not a great fan of if I’m honest but I have to say the food and service was top notch. One of the best I’ve had. Very attentive staff, couldn’t do enough for us. Well done Swan for getting this bang on.

Interested to read the review from 'lucyrocket2016' about the triple-cooked chips - don't worry, you didn't miss much. Had lunch at The Swan recently with a friend and had the battered cod with crushed peas and triple-cooked chips. Fish quite nice, but I've had better locally - and more of it too. As regards the chips, either over-cooked and/or spent too long under the heat lamps awaiting service (which did seem to take a l-o-n-g time) - dried out and hard to cut without a very sharp knife. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, but otherwise over-priced for the end result.

I visited with my wife and children Sunday afternoon and although busy the food and service was very good we had the roast beef( delicious ) my children had pasta and the fish fingers … all food freshly cooked and good portions. I stumbled across the pub on Sunday afternoon after a long stroll out with my partner and our dog, and what can I say? An amazing find! Of course the pub was busy, but fortunately we managed to get a table inside (although the garden was huge with ample seating). We had a 5 bean roast and a pork roast, it was delicious. Honestly had to be the best meal I've had out in a very long time. The service was prompt and really polite. I really appreciated the way the staff are all following the covid rules and giving us plenty of space. The only problem was moving after such a good feed! The dark beef and ale pie is a fantastic meal but new management have increased the price to an astonishing £16.95 and that's with a VAT reduction of 15%!! Which is clearly not being passed on. The pub was dead due to COVID, so only time will tell whether this new pricing policy will cause the pub to sink or swim.
