We had a lovely meal here last night . The food and staff were all very good. It was very quiet, so not much atmosphere. Nothing to do with the establishment itself ,but the road from Wrenbury to Marbury is an absolute disgrace and will put us off from returning to the pub through a genuine concern over damage to my car. I mentioned it to the manager, as it must be affecting business and they need to be petitioning the council to effect repairs. As I say , no reflection on the pub which was very good indeed .

Always enjoy a day out to the Swan. Found this many moons ago on a tame Canal Boat stag do. The groom said at the time it’s the best meal he’s ever had and I would have to agree, especially as his wedding breakfast was a sausage roll so there’s no comparison. Have been back two or three times since and the food has always continued to impress, as has the range of beers on tap. Staff are exceedingly pleasant and very accommodating. Menu is updated daily and the produce and ingredients used are second to none. A hidden gem in the Shropshire/Cheshire area

Great service, beer, and food only spoilt by the miserly portion....... I paid £26.50 for duck breast as a main course and only got two slices...about a third to a half of a duck breast. Went today, the regular menu wasn’t very varied so we chose off the curry menu. The black pudding somosa’s where very nice, the lamb koftas where not seasoned and not very good value for £6.95. I had the lamb dupiaza, it was alright but it was a double onion dish, they topped it with dried hot dog onions!! They where horrible! The portions where small, we shared the portion of unseasoned rice, which was fine because at that point I didn’t want to eat anymore, the naan wasn’t seasoned and very tasteless, such a shame because they obviously thought it was good value and tasted great but it really didn’t!!!

Called here whilst out on our narrowboat. Sign at Marbury lock, but it’s about a 15 minute walk. It wasn’t particularly busy so we were able to have lunch. Good selection of beers but a bit pricey at £4.40 a pint for standard bitter. The food was decent enough, but again fairly expensive for what it was. My wife didn’t enjoy her wine which was on draft, so clearly boxed stuff. The waitress was very nice. All in all expensive and frankly not worth the money.

We walked up from the Canal after hearing good reports about the refurbished Swan. First impressions were good, very tasteful refurbishment, however we had to wait for the lady behind the bar to stop chatting to her friend before being served, we asked for menus & were told they were behind us. We found a table & a guy took our order. We both had fish & chips, and the fish was fine but the batter not cooked p roperly, leaving the plate swimming in greece, over the chips and peas. On collection of the plates, we were asked if everything was ok, bearing in mind both plates contained all the batter mush, we said no, the batter had been very wet, no apology, just ok, Ill tell him! Won't be rushing back!

This is my favourite pub in the Nantwich / Whitchurch area.Food is delicious with a great menu with unusual dishes as well as the old favourites.Staff are well trained, attentive and helpful and service is quick and free of drama.I would recommend The Swan to anyone in search of good food in a friendly environment in the Nantwich area.Worth noting that there are two listings on TA - this one under Whitchurch and another under Nantwich - hence the 'missing' negative reviews which another reviewer mentioned but, which aren't missing at all, they are on the other listing.I suggest that someone from The Swan contacts TA and tries to get the two listings combined.Having said that, I can think of nothing to mark this pub down for - I have never had a bad meal there and would recommend to anyone.

I discovered this pub a few months ago and have become a regular there despite the fact that I live walking distance from three 'foodie' pubs in Wybunbury and have to drive past the Dusty Miller to get to the Swan. The pub has been refurbished well, is comfortable and has tables for both indoor and outdoor dining. The food is absolutely delicious, in particular the Sunday roasts and the curried mussel starter (my favourite). There are more than enough staff who are all helpful, friendly and attentive.I would recommend The Swan to anyone in the Nantwich area - well worth the trip down the lanes to get there. My only complaint is that, unusually nowadays, they don't stock any fruit cider - but even that shortfall doesn't prevent me from giving a well-earned 5 stars.

We visited as a group of friends. The staff were very pleasant and accommodating. I like the fact that there is a small separate room that seats about 10 but also has spacious dining area . The decor is of high spec .Anyway down to the food. We only had mains and puds, all were generous portions and very tasty. It looked like they have a separate vegetarian menu that comes out daily , I wish I had phoned up prior to going to find out what it was as a friend did not go due to being a fussy vegetarian and looking at the menu we were given there was quite a few choices. As a personal choice I would have liked to see a pudding with custard but that’s just personal and as someone has previously said the creme brûlée was beautiful .I think the chessboard probably needs a few more biscuits but the quality was good.A very good selection of drinks I’m sure they will do well , we travelled quite a Way and well worth it

As commented on already, The Swan has undergone an excellent refurbushment and is now a great venue. The beers are good, they have an interesting wine list and their chef is of the highest standard - what comes out of the kitchen is excellent. What I don't think they have nailed yet is management. First and crucially, their staff are not being well trained, well supported, directed and they don't seem to have the right leadership. I'm not going to blame the staff themselves, I think its a management issue. A couple of examples from our visit this weekend: we waited for over 30 minutes for our finished main course plates to be cleared, no one came near our table and eventually we had to go to the bar to ask for the plates to be cleared. A member of staff was at it immediately very willingly - but why did we have to wait and then ask? A serving staff took our order for for 6 puds (for a table of 8): he returned a few minutes later with 6 sets of cutlery and asked "Who is having deserts?". In a good establishment he should have been able to remember for 2 minutes the two people who were not having puds. The menu is OK but not quite there: at a pub like this they MUST have a pie on at all times - just a "Pie of the Day" would be great, but they don't. I have spoken to many customers at The Swan and its a common "gripe" of "No pie". Raise it with management and the response is rather dismissive "We might put a pie on in the autumn" witht a bit of "You are only a custmoer, we know best" attitude thrown in. So, The Swan is nearly there, just a few bedding in issues with management to sort out.

Have been looking forward to trying this place since we heard it was due to reopen.Disappointed is probably too strong a word but we were certainly not impressed with it. The staff were not terribly friendly and some didnt even look happy to be there. The menu is pretty basic and we all struggled to find something on it that we really fancied to try.One of our group had a quite word with the waitress to see was it definitely the full portion they had brought out, he was told it was and they would pass the comments on to the kitchen. A supplementary plate of chips and couple more pieces of scampi were swift to arrive for him.The food was nice, not amazing but nothing to complain about just the portion sizes a little on the meagre side. Overall the experience was alright, they dealt with my friends portion size issue, but we all left just feeling a bit let down. If it was a lower end place we would have been perfectly happy but we all just expected a bit better from it given the reputation of the owner and management at the Swan. Hopefully just teething problems and given a few months we can go back for a better experience.

We went for lunch on a hot summer afternoon. The pub has been refurbished to a very high standard and the inside is comfortable and quite similar in style to Mr Brunning's previous pubs. The bar has an excellent range of drinks and the barman was knowledgeable about the different wines served by the glass, a pleasant change from most pubs! The house wine, French Sauv Blanc, is very good. We sat outside and enjoyed the view. The food was excellent, as was the service. We had the potted pork and monkfish scampi for our starters and the pollock served in a bisque for the mains. Both were delicious. I would thoroughly recommend a visit and we will most certainly return.

My friend has very fond memories of this pub so seeing that it had re-opened last month, we decided to arrange one of our regular walks around the area & finish up here for a meal.It was a scorching hot Bank Holiday Monday (yes, really!) so there were lots of people sat outside enjoying the sunshine. As we had been walking for 6 hours, we were pleased to sit down inside which was nice and cool. The pub has had a great refurbishment including a bigger car park.We were not greeted as we entered as staff seemed happier to talk amongst themselves rather than to engage with customer so we grabbed menu's and sat down. When we went to the bar, the gentleman who served us was more friendly but it took longer than it needed to to order food and pay-a few more weeks and it will become second nature for sure. The menu is not extensive and there are not many vegan options either. On this occasion, not wanting a full meal and feeling that sandwiches seemed expensive for what they were, we decided to have the pea and mint soup with crumbled feta which was beautiful!I think we will try this pub again once staff have got more up to speed and only go for an evening meal.Overall, not sure it was worth the wait for it to re-open!

You can tell this pub reopening has some brains behind it and it’s all top notch. Bar nibbles are decent including goats cheese Bon bons and battered black pudding - what’s not to like. Went there today with 30 walkers intending doing some footpath inspection and maintenance in the area, to be followed by drinks in the pub. Guess what....the car park is reserved for "destination" diners and although there were 5 cars in the huge car park at 10.30 and double that at 2.30 there was no room for casual walkers! You are having a laugh to turn down business of about £100 on a Tuesday! On top of this the pub will have negative reviews from 30 mature adults who will now cross it off their "destination" even though the restoration looks great. Sad but really silly management!

Visited the Swan last week.First I would like to address the not so popular rules. I completely agree with not having children under 10 after 6pm. Having worked in hospitality and catering for the past 5 years, it is impossible to work when children are running around a bar, causing hazards. No not all children are like this, but some are. Also what is a 10 year old doing in a restaurant after 6pm?The service was incredible, we managed to get a table on a very busy warm evening with no problems, with the dog. We arrived a little late without any problems from the bar staff and were promptly greeted. The ordering system works very well. My allergy to pork was dealt with very well, having been offered chicken egg and chips instead of ham egg and chips. Our drinks were made immediately and within 25 minutes we had our food. Perfect waiting time and freshly prepared. Our plates were quickly cleared away and we were offered a dessert menu. This time someone served us at the table, which was nice. Someone was always around to ask questions, and they checked a few times if everything was OK. My visit was part of a small holiday to England from Germany. After having been in wetherspoons and Milton pubs in this week, this experience was a light relief. We paid the same money I paid in the afforementioned pubs where I was offered an undercooked vegetarian lasagne and rubbery Halloumi as a result of my allergy. The food at the swan was fresh and well worth the money.Overall an extremely satisfying visit, with fair prices for the delicious food there is here to offer. The service staff are an asset to the company. Thank you for making my evening special. I wish them all the best for the future.

Sympathetically restored with excellent parking and outdoor eating area (when it's warm enough). Very reminiscent of Brunning and Price pubs (inevitably!) but internal decoration and furnishing is to a high standard and the end result very pleasing. There are quirky rules about children after 7pm, which will no doubt lose business. There are people out there who love kids but are not keen on dogs, particularly in a restaurant. The menu is not huge, but offering main-course sized portions of starters and vice versa is a good idea. We chose the monkfish tail scampi which was absolutely delicious and beautifully served, as were the seasonal veg accompaniment. Good selection of ales and wines, as you might expect. It would be good to see some proper puddings on dessert menus - things like traditional pies and crumbles served with custard. As the place has not been open long, the staff are all new and a bit tentative - dealing with "Joe Public" is not the easiest skill to learn! It's also worth disregarding any comments about the place which are before April 2018 and have no bearing on the present Swan. We look forward to a return visit and wish all the staff and management success in this new venture. Why not go and see for yourself?

Have so looked forward to revisiting the refurbished Swan at Marbury. First visited over 40 years ago when it was extremely popular. A lot of thought and money has gone into this new venture. Splendid location.Visited and supported you on the first day of reopening and once since. I appreciate that day one is still teething but was not greeted with a warm welcome! Paid bill and felt very disappointed. Not thanked for our custom. As another person commented, felt we were doing you a favour. Very strange and poor attitude. Thought you might have wanted to find out a little about where we come from etc. No one cared. Neither of my friends wish to return. Definitely disinterested management.Uninteresting menu. On both visits we ALL felt the same and very sadly don’t feel any excitement to recommend or return. Problem with the food second time and all in all very expensive for a very ordinary and not very hot meal.Definitely feel for the people with children. Terrible policy and yet dogs rule! You won’t earn money from them! So, left non plussed at the menu. Felt that we weren’t famous enough to warrant good service and a warm welcome.Marbury is awkward to get to unless you really want to get there, particularly in Winter. Marbury Merry Days soon. Suggest you change your family policy. A bit soon to be strict methinks. We were excited to try your new venture. Where was your excitement at seeing people who had bothered to support you?! I am in business and brought more people in business, we know a lot of people. Word of mouth is everything in business. Suggest you change your menu fast and welcome/appreciate the paying customer. Menu maybe a little too clever? Very disappointed.

Forget the previous reviews - this place has changed BIG style. I called into this pub for a drink with my wife and couldn't believe the transformation from it's previous tired look. The pub had been closed for a good while and a massive face-lift has been given to it by the new owners. The new car park is vast and a disabled and drop off area is right by the restaurant entrance. Upon arrival we were greeted with a very warm and personal welcome. There was a big WOW factor in every respect and the bar was stocked with a great array of specially sourced 'house' wines, real ales and plenty of variety of gins and other drinks. The large extension has increased the capacity of the pub massively along with the total open plan of the inside of the original pub, there appears to be great choice of dining/drinking ambience. The large outdoor dining/drinking area will surely be very well populated once the sun starts to shine!! Although we'd decided prior to arrival that we weren't eating we were impressed with the menu and will definitely be back to sample first hand the food. Overall a very friendly atmosphere in fabulous surroundings ensured a great first experience of this beautiful pub in such a wonderful little village. Couple of really minor issues but too trivial to mention, especially given they had been open only one day. Will definitely be taking the family there.

We went for my husbands birthday, and I found it on Groupon, we went on a Saturday night it was busy but we were shown to our table straight away, the food was very good, there were 8 of us, and we all had something different, all the meals were lovely, we had starters and mains and a glass of wine in with the deal, and we all ordered dessert, it was delicious. There is plenty of parking, and the staff were very helpful . We were waiting for our taxi and the pub was closing, but they didn't ask us to leave.i would definitely recommend this restaurant and bar. We shall be back.
