We stayed here after a tour of the Shepherd Neame brewery round the corner. When we checked in, we were given a complimentary upgrade to a superior room, which was lovely. We unfortunately would not be able to stick around in the morning till 8:30am for the breakfast (which was included), so upon informing the hostess, she had us some cheese & chutney sandwiches made up and waiting for us at our room for when we got in, which was a nice touch. Good selection of beers & wines, and nice pub. We’ll definetly return when in the area again!

Visited here whilst in Faversham for some lunch, didn’t book but luckily had a table. We visited for lunch & the restaurant was very busy but only one member of staff serving. Food was nice but don’t think I would rush back, I would say it’s more for the retired.

We called in one night without a booking. It was busy as there was a band playing, but they asked the kitchen and they said it would be fine, but there could be a bit of a wait. We sat in the restaurant area. We shared a Chorizo scotch egg to start, then both had Grilled Tarragon Chicken for mains. We were then tempted by the Rum and Chocolate Tart for pudding. All the food was very good. The waiting staff were friendly and checked all was satisfactory. Would return again.

This dear old pub just oozes with historic ambience and is a superb lunch venue. There's a decent pub plus menu and a good wine list, the cooking is great, and the service from the staff is extremely efficient and warmly friendly. Fortunately on this visit, we avoided the hostile manager. My son, 6ft 4'' and 52 years old is actually quite nervous of him, but this must have been his day off, so.we really enjoyed our visit, and Faversham is so lovely. Many thanks to the lovely serving ladies who made.our lunch so very pleasant and memorable.

The service was great very kind and helpful .However, the beef roast was raw not rare ,couldn't hardly cut through the meat, there was hardly any gravy and the food was tepid not hot. I feel the roast dinner was vastly over priced will not return.

Very disappointed with the meal. The beef we were given on our Sunday roast looked like it didn't even make the oven. Very raw and very fatty. The selection of vegetables were very poor and we had 3 very small dishes of veg between 13 of us. I would serve the size of the vegetables between two people at a push. We had to ask for the condiments and bad to keep going to the bar to ask for things as we were not checked on by any of the staff.

Was advised at the tourist office that this pub is upmarket. It isn’t. Went to the bar to order Sunday roast; was told that they were out of nut roast; at 2pm ! Ordered two other mains. After 45 minutes no sign. Asked at the bar. Barman went to kitchen and then informed us it would be another 5 mins. It was another 15 mins, so one hour after we ordered. The beef was really poor: meat was tough and chewy. Vegetables came on a separate dish: dry and overcooked. About two table spoons of gravy; could hardly see it. My partner said the vegan burger was “ok”. We left the Sun more than underwhelmed. Shame, because the building is a lovely oldy worldy pub.

Food was delicious, fabulously presented in a lovely eating environment. Waitress was brilliant and great at recommending different food options off the menu with clear passion. Embarrassing moment at the end, I walked out without my handbag, just as I realised, the fast running waitress, Tia was at our side in the street with it.... thank you so much. Great evening 🙂

When a pub says it serves food till a certain time, on this occasion 8pm, they should honour that commitment, Okay, if you arrive at 755pm, you are pushing it. But we arrived at 7pm only to be told the kitchen was shut. Despite food still being served to tables. Too many pubs are doing this these days. They should say on their website they may close earlier. But they don’t !! And the beer is more expensive than most other Faversham pubs. So I won’t return. Plenty of other good choices in Faversham.

Haven't visited Faversham for many years but have happy memories of the Sun Inn. While in the area again we decided to have dinner there. The restaurant area had little atmosphere and we waited for over half an hour to have our to have our order taken: mine, duck confit and my partner's, lamb kleftico pasta. Again another long wait before it arrived. The duck itself was ok, not the most tender but ok, the vegetables definitely not. Six fingernail-sized carrots, two slices of potato and two smudges of puree. For £20 wouldn't it have been possible to have some real vegetables? After all, they're cheap enough to buy. I was underwhelmed. My partner's lamb kleftico pasta was small and bore no relationship to the flavour of kleftico we have often in Greece. The waitress was loud and disorganised and we left felling disappointed to say the least. It would have been better not to have visited and to have kept our previous happy memories intact.

Originally booked sbout a month ago. But we had to cancel as new menu and only one vegan/ veggie option as a main meal (a salad). In fact I only had one choice for a starter and that had mushrooms in which was part of the salad. I phoned to explain I did not want a cold meal and would like a choice. They refused to cook anything that was not on the menu. They were happier for me to cancel a table of 4 rather than accommodate me. They said they are not allowed to cook anything not on the menu as stated by the brewery. So if you have alergies/ dietary requirements don't cone here. Just disgusted with their attitude. Never again.

Visited the pub and had lunch there. The choice of beers is fairly dull but I’m not marking them down on this as it’s Shepherd Neame country. All the beers are a bit boring. However, the service was very good and although we ‘only’ ordered burgers, I am very familiar with such fayre and feel compelled to write this review. I am from Rochester you see. We have burger joints such as Chuck ‘n’ Blade, Smoqe, and the acclaimed Dead Pigeon. Let me tell you, this burger more than held its own against these young rapscallions of the meat patty genre. For ‘twas a thick and juicy offering with crispy bacon, gherkins, and a cheeky spicy sauce . Unassuming yet confident in its tasty ability to serve not only as lunch, but dinner too as neither of us felt hungry until the next morn. I would have taken a picture but I was too busy eating it.

From the moment we were greeted at the entrance and asked to use the sanitiser and provide contact details, we felt welcomed yet safe during these strange Covid times. We were shown to a spacious table in the restaurant area where the management and staff have clearly worked extremely hard to ensure that their customers (and staff) are socially distanced and are taking the guidelines seriously and professionally. The food was excellent and the service first class. It was our first time in that part of Kent. We visited the hotel for four nights in late July. The house manager , Brendan and all the staff could not have been more welcoming and focused on creating a "safe and reassuring" environment given the current situation. The new covid processes were applied in a calm and helpful way, with access and exit being closely monitored by staff. Our room was very clean and comfortable with tea and coffee in a paper gift bag on arrival and a top up of items during the week, on request. Our Breakfasts were brought to our table in the restaurant area in a timely manner and all was of a good standard. We ate at the Inn on two occasions and were seated in one of two sensibly spacer outdoor eating areas. The menus provided a good choice of food and were enjoyable. We booked in advance to eat for our first night and chose to eat there later in the week. On the other nights we ate at the Carpenters Arms, Eastling (great pies) & The Plough at Lewson Street. Both were very pleasant and again, with well controlled processes in place. We sat inside at the Plough, but there was plenty of space in the restaurant area away from the bar. During the days we visited beautiful gardens. Doddington Place Gardens , Belmont Gardens & Mount Ephraim . All locations were wonderful and had a limited, but good choice of food and drink. We also visited the local Gunpowder Mills ( shaded walks), Old Town Quay, The Bull and area (West Street) and local midweek Markets.

Stayed here overnight for a birthday treat. The room was absolutely gorgeous with a beautiful spacious bathroom. Although the building itself is very old, according to the history pamphlet in the room it was first built in 1396, the room and bathroom were very modern. Nice touches, eg box of tissues on either side of the bed, emergency toothbrush and toothpaste and razor, and it also had a safe, (very rare in UK hotels) and iron and ironing board. The food was amazing, very well cooked and staff very friendly and efficient. They had a group that night but we didn't stay as it was completely rammed, but plenty of other pubs to visit for a nightcap. The only hiccup was that we were at the front of the pub and immediately below us was the dining room, the door leading to the dining room was very heavy and every time someone went through it banged which was very loud in our bedroom, obviously this ceased when the pub shut but started again about 7.00 o'clock when the staff came on. My husband did mention it to staff so maybe they will sort it. This was the only problem. Also, breakfast was fantastic. Would highly recommend.

We had a gorgeous meal on Friday night and breakfast on both mornings was superb. Our room was lovely and clean and very comfortable as was the en-suite bathroom. I have recommended the Sun Inn to friends and know we will be back. Thank you to Shaz for the entertainment! Great service and thanks to all the staff.

Booked through the Sun Inn for a brewery tour, over night stay and meal through a offer on the website. We had a lovely time and can't recommend enough. Only annoying thing was someone hit my car in the long stay car park so if anyone can help with that!

We ate here on a weekday evening and had excellent service and food. We were greeted by a friendly member of staff behind the bar who showed us to our table in the restaurant. The pub has a lot of character and charm without being too olde worlde. There is a good choice on the menu, the usual pub grub but also some excellent different choices. We had the chicken breast which came with a delicious mushroom sauce, and a trio of pork which was amazing. The food was really tasty and well presented. It was good to have something a bit different and it was excellent value for money. The service was friendly, professional and efficient. There was a bit of a wait for food (which we only noticed because we were going to the cinema afterwards) but it was well worth it as the food was clearly freshly prepared and cooked. Overall a thoroughly enjoyable meal in pleasant surroundings. Highly recommended.

We stopped in for lunch after the Shepherd Neame tour having heard good things. The pub is laid out well with possible rustic seating by the fire or a well dining area. Prices are reasonable and the menu looked inviting. Sadly the meal took a very long time to arrive after our order at the bar, but to their credit they did apologise and offered us a complementary coffee which was very decent of them. When the food did arrive it was excellent and well worth the wait. If we're in the area will come again.

We have visited and stayed a few times. It is an atmospheric, olde worldly building and friendly. The town is on the doorstep and quite often you see Bob Geldof walking by. Car parking at the rear is chargeable by Council. Food is good and a diverse menu for breakfast is included in the average charge of £100 .00 per night.

My wife had booked what she thought would be New Years day lunch but turned out to be breakfast! The waitress was very good indeed but when booking the staff should have stated only food from the breakfast menu was to be served on New Years day. My wife had the English breakfast and I had the vegetarian breakfast - both were good. I had a zero alcohol beer Brewdog Nanny State 330 ml but found out later it was charged at £4.40 which is excessive. We both had americano coffees but they were weak. I only gave 4 stars due to the very good service otherwise 2 stars would have been appropriate so we wont recommend coming here. The room was cold.

What a find, a really warm and friendly place run by Manager Brendan and his cheerful staff. We only stopped for lunch but liked it so much we have decided to book a weekend there. Food and service was excellent. We found a gem in the heart of Faversham!

Have been here many times but this time I was very disappointed! It wasn’t very busy at 1.15 but it seemed to ages before the waitress took our food order. We started with our drinks order which included a jug of water with no ice! This never arrived until half way through eating our dessert and then on my prompting! The roast beef was inexcusably rare so I asked for it to be placed in foil as a doggie bag later! The veg were lovely but the Yorkshire even better! We asked for the desert menu which took 25 minutes to be given to us so when we ordered the dessert we asked for the bill at the same time! Although the waitresses were very polite I think they need to concentrate n up their game a bit! The restaurant was certainly not busy no body was rushed off their feet but lacked attention to the customer! Not an impression I’ve ever experienced at the sun before so it was a very disappointing experience which I will not be rushing back for ... sorry

The Sun Inn is owned by the Shepherd Neame Brewery, so the quality of hospitality is high. The staff are very pleasant and helpful, and the bedroom we stayed in was very comfy. The only slight drawback was the tight spiral staircase to the rooms, and the noise of the downstairs fire door banging shut each time someone went through. But these are small nuisances compared to the overall experience. Breakfast was very good.

We ordered a 'small plate' from the menu of haloumi with hot Greek salad. We have had this in the past and it has been lovely. This time, however, it was a very small, thin and rather dry slice of halloumi with no sign of a salad. When we enquired, we were told that the salad was under the cheese. Lifting it we discovered a very small portion of warm cucumber and, I think, onion and not a lot else. We had a proper plate of Greek salad last time with feta cheese. For nearly £7, this was a rip off and we bought a bowl of chips to pad it out. I can only assume it was made by a different chef from before. I will stick to the excellent soup next time.

We had a fab stay. This lovely oldie worldie pub in the centre of Faversham has got it just right. We stayed overnight on a Shepherd Neame deal with overnight stay, dinner and breakfast also the Shepherd Neame brewery tour thrown in. Apart from being exceptional value, the food was outstanding, the rooms clean and cosy and the Sun Inn is just fabulous- seeped in character and very busy on this Friday night. We were away with my sister and brother in law and spoke to Brendan, the general manager on checking out. He seems to do everything and it is clear to see how hard he works but it pays off because he has it completely right. Staff, service all brilliant. Thank you- we will be back.

Stayed at the Sun Inn for one night. The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful, and the accommodation was modern and clean. The pub had a friendly atmosphere, and the restaurant had a lovely relaxed ambience, with a good menu selection. I would highly recommend, and intend to return in the near future.

Looking forward to a carvery after a remembrance parade. Very disappointed with the food, especially the meat it was so tough I had to spit it out! My son could not eat his gammon and some of the veg was so al-dente it was difficult to cut! The service was OK but we won't be going there again.
