A real find. If you are in the area it’s a definite must visit. Traditional pub with good selection of beers. It was hot beef baguettes with roast potato’s and gravy on the menu the day we visited with was simply the best I have ever had. Staff are super friendly as are the locals. We could have stayed all day…

Old pub with small unique parlour at front, just like someones front sitting room, but large airy extension and grassy garden at rear, with plenty of space and some tables under a large gazebo tent. Only food is very basic (rolls) but they were happy for us to eat our fish and chips from next door. Dog friendly

We adore The Sun. Big gardens, regular music nights, dog and family friendly. Being right next to the fish & chip shop, you can order your food there and have it delivered to you at the pub. The pub itself also has a nice menu of warm and good local fare. There's a great atmosphere and always a good welcome. Wine is very reasonably priced. On a sunny day, dogs and children are running around the garden. Their Open Mic nights are fantastic! The pub is also one of the last parlour pubs in Britain so there are lovely little rooms for groups and lots of historical artefacts.

We stopped off on a bike ride - enjoyed their lovely garden, sunken bar and nice paddles of ciders/beers. Great that we could keep an eye on the bikes in the garden. They have a small but nice lunch menu but invited us to use the chippy next door and bring our food in. Really nice people and great chippy.

We popped in here for lunch while passing through. What an amazing place, the old parlour rooms at the front are like a time capsule, while the main bar behind is very modern but with a friendly and traditional feel. Food is very limited, and I really would not recommend the Welsh Rarebit, but they serve good ales, and I believe they are happy for you to bring in food from the chippy next door. I like this place so much that I am considering retiring to the village of Leintwardine, that I hadn’t heard of a few days ago! You must must visit. And have a beer, of course.

This is an amazing pub, both a memory of the past and a new concept for the future more akin to a German beer keller at the back. Good range of real ales and lovely beer garden.

We have called in here on several occasions whilst staying in the vicinity. The front of this establishment is the original "parlour" pub which is very quaint. At the rear is quite a large, spacious, modern extension. The staff are always friendly and welcoming and serve some delicious local ciders. Although the pub does some food, you can also purchase food from the fish & chip shop next door which will be delivered to you in the pub and which you are allowed to eat in the pub.

We stayed at The Lion (excellent) for the weekend recently and felt we had to visit here after reading all the reviews. We called in after a walk on the Sunday afternoon and we didn't really know what to expect. We walked through he front door into what could almost be called a museum and we wondered if it really was open. We could hear voices coming from the back so ventured through. What we found was a very busy, friendly bar with people still eating at 2pm. The beer was excellent so we decided to call back later in the day for our evening meal. The menu is quite limited and they don't serve a traditional Sunday lunch as The Lion does that so well. They also do not serve chips because the chip shop (The Fiddlers Elbow) next door provides those - except they are closed on Sundays and Mondays and, in our case, they were closed all week as they were at a family wedding in Cyprus. The Sun does do excellent lasagne, stew, baked Camenbert and various filled baguettes amongst other things. Everyone I heard complimented the food and it is very reasonably priced too.We were made very welcome by all the locals and this pub is well worth a visit if you are in the area - or even a detour if you are not!

Limited menu with an arrangement with the local chip shop for fish & chips to be delivered to and eaten in a side room. Beer garden looks good (although it was too wet to try it out).Home of the local air rifle club who practice inside in the large bar area (at least in winter)! Good fun place.

Pet friendly. Has a pleasant beer garden which dogs can run around. I believe that it is the last Parlour pub in UK. The pub has been beautifully extended from the original building which belonged to a wonderful character named Flo. Has been kept in keeping with the extension. Staff very friendly. Didn't eat but food looked very good. Have been a couple of times and will be going back.

It was the second time we had visited the annual beer festival on august bank holiday Sunday - £3 admission and £3 for all guest beers. Bands playing all afternoon and evening. The history is always interesting but they have moved on from being simply a parlour pub and offer very cheap meals to add to the beer (we also visited for lunch on another day with friends).

This is a lovely pub on the Shropshire/Herefordshire borders in the village of Leintwardine. You enter through the front of the building which is an original Parlour Pub kept in its original form. The small right hand room is used for deliveries of fish and chips from the Fiddlers Elbow at the other end of the terrace. No fish and chips allowed in the main pub which is a huge extension at the back. It retains an old world character with wooden tables, benches & a sofa. There a huge garden for Summer drinking. A good range of local ales are available and the inevitable Herefordshire cider. On a previous Winter visit at the weekend there was a group of Sea Shanty singers playing.

From the front this looks like someone's house. As you enter it looks very much like what it was for many years - a very old fashioned parlour pub, however, as you walk through to the bar you enter into a large, airy, characterful room. A great selection of reasonably priced ales and ciders are on offer in a very welcoming atmosphere. Fish and chips can be ordered from the chippy next door and eaten in the pub although The Sun does now do a limited bar menu itself. Dog and child friendly. One of the best pubs I've been in recently!!

I only had one pint of Hobsons real ale - excellent. Mine hosts even pulled a small glass first to see if to my taste, which it was . A pub/restaurant of two halves , The old pub half is preserved as at the turn of the 19th Century with plain unvarnished tables and benches plus a really quaint snug with old furniture the most modern piece being a 1930s valve radio. The other half is a pleasant modern extension with dining facilities. Did not have a meal there so cannot comment on the food. However the place is well worth a visit just to see how pubs once were.Disappointed I could not spend more time there but will certainly visit again if in the vicinity.

This is an amazing place, real ales, real cider, real atmosphere, real locals, real food. I would return to the area just to go to the pub and drink the real ales and cider there. If you don't want anything off the bar snack menu then pop next door and order from the chippy and they will deliver it to you while you enjoy your beer.I recommend you look into the history of the place to really appreciate the authenticity and quirkiness of the Inn.

We stopped at The Sun Inn as part of our route with Wheely Wonderful Cycling. It was too early for lunch as it wasn't long since we'd had breakfast so we decided to stop for a quick drink. The inside of the pub is very vintage and sweet, with bunting adorning the ceiling. It had a modern feel but you could still feel its history. The garden was gorgeous and it was lovely and sunny so we took advantage of sitting outside. It all felt very English chocolate box prettiness which is no bad thing! The two barmaids were very friendly and welcoming and I wish we could have stayed longer. Definitely include this as part of your holiday if staying in Shropshire/Herefordshire as well as the other pubs in Leintwardine. A gorgeous place!

Stepping in off the road it's like being transported back in time. As you go further back into the pub you are greeted by a magnificent modern extension. I came with my wife's family to commemorate the life of her recently departed uncle & her choice of venue could not have been more perfect. A nice selection of well kept local ales served by a friendly landlady. To top it all off we were then able to go next door to the local chipper (Fiddlers Elbow Fishbar) to order delicious fish & chips, which we could then consume back in the pub! (due to mutual agreement between pub & chip shop as the pub does not appear to serve meals only snacks from the premises?) All in all a win-win situation:-) Can't wait to go back there again (& stay longer this time!!)

Called in here last week following a ten mile walk. This is a real delight and a really interesting pub. The front rooms are basically unchanged from the days when the establishment was a drinking parlour, indeed the most recent items on display seem to be the pictures of two football teams who played in the FA Cup final in the 1950's! To the rear is a new but tastefully built extension with access to more seating outdoors in the garden. Beers are from local brewers and in excellent condition and the management are happy for customers to order fish and chips from the nearby shop and consume them either in the front room or the garden, the shop will even deliver. This place is unique and full of character and a welcome change from the ordinary, well worth a visit.

Being an ex-pat now living in the U.S I constantly crave real authentic British pubs and ales. So when I come back I frequent as many as possible but none have ever left an impression quite like the Sun Inn in Leintwardine. Its connection to its past may be what sets this pub apart from many others but this is also backed up by a delicious selection of well kept local ales and ciders along with popular lagers for all manner of drinkers. A great mix of friendly locals and happy visitors makes for interesting conversations and encounters. The beer garden is lovely and is a great place to eat delicious fish and chips from next door. The new additions to the thankfully well preserved historical front rooms seems to attract warm, friendly and often musically talented people. A must stop for anyone interested in visiting one of the most original and welcoming pubs in the U.K.

I first went to The Sun over 40 years ago when it was just Flossie's house where beer was served form a jug. Thankfully it was saved a few years ago following her death and the front rooms preserved just as they were ( a time capsule) with a good modern extension put on the back with out door seating. There are a good range of local beers and usually a couple of excellent local ciders some of which need treating with respect. A limited range of good bar meals are served or you can get fish and chips from next door and eat them in the old parlour at the front. We always take friends there who are visiting us as the place is quite unique.

The Sun Inn, Leintwardine, is a one of a few traditional beer-houses remaining in the country, dating back to about 1870. It is now Grade II listed and run as a Parlour pub. The traditional rooms at the front, just as Flossie, the former owner, left them while the back has been extended to include more modern facilities. Flossie was born in or around1914 and carried on running the beer-house until June 2009. Our visit today was with a group of 50 architectural historians and Gary, the joint owner, and his staff rose splendidly to the occasion with a delicious lunch for us. We sat out in the garden in the March sunshine enjoying the whole experience. On another occasion we ordered fish and chips from the Fiddlers' Elbow next door and had delicious fish and chips waiter-served to me and my husband. If you want to visit somewhere different, then we highly recommend the Sun Inn at Leintwardine.

This is a regular stop for us (opposite Boots when you have to wait for prescriptions). Lovely friendly staff and usually mid morning plenty of them. However we have noticed on a few occasions now that the tables are not cleared quickly enough. Today when we were in for coffee, tables when cleared were left sticky to touch and not cleaned.
