The Suffolk Carver in St Edmundsbury

Feels dated, apparently doesn’t understand gluten free, NOT SAFE FOR COELIACS, they have options on the menu but it will be cross contaminated. Partner had an omelet, how the hell do you mess up an omelet that bad, said it was like rubber.

Great food and wonderful service!

We stopped here for lunch with our dog who was offered a sausage as soon as we say down 🐾😄. We both had jacket potatoes which were delicious and we're accompanied with lots of salad. We also had a lovely big pot of tea between us. The staff were friendly and polite.

1st time trying out this delightful cafe. Iv had my fair share of full English breakfasts this was definitely up with the best 👌. Good portions, well cooked fresh oil for a great taste just adds to the list of boxes ticked. The staff are fast and friendly. Will 100% be coming back

Definitely the worst food we have ever had. 6 English breakfasts swimming in beans I COLD poached eggs. There was a disgusting smell in there that you can smell a mile away NEVER AGAIN

Always very friendly and very welcoming. This is a lovely, family-operated cafe - they really care. All of the food is delicious. Usually, I have their fantastic breakfast, but today I had their roast pork. - OMG, it’s the nicest pork that I have ever eaten! So tender and with amazing crackling too - a real treat. Their coffee is of a very high standard too with a lovely taste. In short, this cafe has nice food and drink, all served by nice people. It’s service and food with love!!! Highly recommend. Try it!!

Great value, tasty, filling... You'll definitely do yourself a favour by walking round the corner from the hussle and bustle of the market square for something to eat and drink and grabbing a menu here

Popped in at 8 on a Sunday. Glad to find somewhere open early (other than yet another generic chain place). Had a friendly welcome, a full English breakfast, good price and it was nice to have the option of gluten free bread.would definitely come again.

We visit regularly and never once have we had poor food or service. The breakfast and scrambled egg are delicious. Such friendly and courteous owners and staff makes eating at Suffolk carver a pleasure. I can’t recommend it enough. To add - the prices are extremely good.

Yesterday myself and two friends had lunch at The Suffolk Carver. I have been there on a number of occaisions over the past few years for both breakfast and lunch but this was my friends first experience based on my recommendation and it didn't disappoint! As always there was a friendly welcome from all of the staff when we arrived. A very generous portion of their delicious homemade soup for us all to start with - I had the pumpkin with one of my friends having the lentil and the other vegetable. Superb! This was followed by vegetable quiche for one friend and jacket potato with chilli for the other. I had the beef lasagne and all were served with a lovely fresh salad. A couple of pots of English Breakfast tea made with tea leaves and not tea bags accompanied the meal. I was delighted (but not surprised) that my friends had high praise for their first experiece of The Suffolk Carver. Generous portions, sensible prices and an overwhelming feeling of being made welcome put this establishment very high on my list of reccomended places eat. Fantastic!

I was visiting from Berlin and seriously craving a decent full English breakfast which wouldn’t break the bank. Everything was perfect, the sausages were proper butchers ones and the bacon was lovely. Will defo visit again

My family and I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Suffolk Carver Cafe in Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, and we were all thoroughly impressed. From the moment we stepped through the door, we were greeted with warm smiles and friendly service. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, and the cafe was spotlessly clean. We all ordered the traditional English breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious. The sausages were juicy and flavorful, the bacon was crispy, and the eggs were cooked perfectly. The portions were also very generous, and we all left feeling full and satisfied. I was particularly impressed with the lentil soup. Every single time we come here the service is brilliant and everyone is very smiley and friendly! The spaghetti bolognaise and fries are by far my favourite in Bury!

We popped in on a day trip to Bury and was not disappointed. Staff are all super lovely, the quality of the food was amazing we ordered the pulled pork hot baguette and the lentil soup. Both were amazing and the soup was homemade. Drinks are made fresh and the coffee is from a local company 10/10 recommend if your in Bury.

Yesterday had lunch here really lovely place the staff was really friendly nice atomospher and tasty food I had the beef burger with fries and side salad with a sparkling highlands water, the other dish is a curry with jacket potato was very nice too. Plenty of seating upstairs, down stairs and also outside seating available the toilet is located upstairs would definitely eat here again.

Here today with the family whilst on holiday. Six of us plus 2 Minnie Yorkshire terriers. We had the full English breakfast with drinks & it was a top quality tasty breakfast & the Suffolk sausages were amazing we sat outside in the sunshine first class service & cooked just how we all like it. After years of going next door I gave this place a try and all I can say is hands down the best chicken burger I've had in a long time. An as for the breakfast not a spot of grease on my plate. This is my new favourite place without a doubt

Stumbled into Bury St Edmunds this week and found this little Gem of a place food was amazing (had the pork baguette) wow. The lady who served us was lovely couldn’t ask for more. We are coming back very soon xx

A lovely local cafe which serves delicious freshly cooked food prepared by them. Their lentil soup is absolutely gorgeous and I make soup! My husband had the pork with crackling baguette which was served with a huge salad ‘garnish’ more like a full salad. Very friendly accommodating staff. I’ve been three times in the last four months and it has always been of the highest standard. My ‘go to’ spot definitely. What they don’t know is that I used to own a cafe and my soups were talked about too!

We call in here whenever we are in the area, always great food and service.

Went for the first time this week. I couldn't fault it at all. They got my daughter crayons and paper without asking. The pork baguette I had was absolutely amazing!!! Best baguette I've ever had. Will be returning.

The staff here are so friendly and welcoming from the minute you step through the door to the minute you step back out! The food here is such quality and not a long wait at all! The atmosphere is exactly that of a cafe and many different seating options! Me and my girlfriend come here all the time for their full English breakfast!

A lovely lunch at the Suffolk Carver this afternoon with my husband and 2 year old son. We both had jacket potatoes, mine with cheese & beans & hubby had chicken with his. It came with a lovely plate full of salad, very good value for money. My son had sausage, beans and toast which he enjoyed. Nothing was too much trouble for the waitresses, they were so welcoming, smiley and helpful, also very attentive, it really is a breath of fresh air to receive friendly service in this day and age as sadly not many places do offer good service anymore. The waitress also kindly offered my son a lolly pop which was very sweet. We will definitely return!

If you value good food at reasonable prices, drop into The Suffolk Carver. Their hot baguette with local pork and stuffing ( with a side of crackling, yum) is a must. Succulent tasty and morish. Lovely salad on the side, but be aware you may struggle to finish after that gorgeous pork.

Great restaurant/ Cafe selling freshly made food and sandwiches. Sandwiches come with crisps which is a nice touch. All reasonably priced and in a great location just off the town square.

Thought we'd give this a try. A nice light bite establishment. The food was well presented. We both had panini's, nothing crazy. Hot drinks were nice too. Felt like we were possibly the youngest customers there lol Only bug bear was the condensation on the walls upstairs. I get that it's cold and steam/eat rises, however the grease dripping down the walls was a bit of a shocker 😬 #moreventilation #fanupstairstosuckoutthemoisture

Not terrible but could be better. Most staff are friendly but there's a couple that could be a lot friendlier and they just look away when you try and make eye contact with them. Food is nice and the salads are freshly made but the prices could be a bit more competitive.

First impressions not good. Very damp inside, poorly ventilated with walls running with condensation. Not overly busy but tables still full of uncleared plates. Sat upstairs. Waited 5 minutes and then asked for a menu as this was not offered despite the ( very young) waiter passing our table several times. To his credit he did wipe our table and give us menus saying he would be back to take our order. So we waited...and waited...and waited...Tables around us were served full.meals and finished. Still we waited. After 15 minutes we got up and left. As we were leaving, I saw another young waiter propped up by the till and just said that were leaving due to not being served in the time we had waited. All we got was a grunted " Sorry". We will not be back. Very disappointing.

This cafe has no idea what a egg mayo baguette is she gave me a fried egg with mayo on it was absolutely disgusting my daughter had a so called bacon sandwich with one slice of bacon way to much butter they have no proper kitchen wear no hair nets all hair down not tied back and then had the cheek to tell me they were short staffed and the food was not fresh I will be back do not go here.

The food is made to an excellent standard. The staff are very friendly and welcoming. Warm atmosphere with a cosy feel.

Very nice, little bit cold inside but ain't we all at the moment

It was pitiful.... Waited ages for service (wasn't busy when we got there) Server didn't know the menu at all so had to keep repeating everything, then he kept returning to ask questions about our order. On 3 different occasions was approached by different staff to ask if this was our order of food (we were upstairs) ... 3 times it wasn't! When our order eventually arrived (well over half hour wait for filled baguettes) it didn't look appealing at all with stuff missing, like the garnish and relish. Will not return in a hurry.

Excellent place to eat very good value for what we had to eat Homemade soup which was lush and rest was so excellent!!!!

How a cafe should be! Good quality ingredients in the Full English, great coffee, friendly staff, quick service, clean and VERY cheap. £6:50 for a full English and a flat white, bargain!

1st visit was greeted with a cheary good morning and a smile also given a table choice, service was very polite and very good food (breakfast) was piping hot and good, would recommend a visit 2nd is planned.

Hier heerlijk ontbeten. Zeer vriendelijk personeel. Nog heel hard moeten lachen omdat mijn vriend de rekening niet begreep. Hij had verwacht, het dubbele te moeten betalen. Goed ontbijt dus voor een mooi bedrag. Erg bedankt!

Visited Monday 25th July 2022, jacket potatoes was the best we have ever had. Have visited many cafes and had jacket potato but this topped the lot.

Visited today very good staff very helpful ,breakfast good ,exellent Edis I think sausage well done , we would like to see CHOPPED TIN TOMATOES ON MENU they just go with breakfast,

Excellent food. Quality and serving size great value for money. Super friendly young man served us and seemed to enjoy his job which reflected in the service. Friendly banter with us and all the customers. Quick service. Will visit again when we are in that part of the country.
