Coffee is very good and the pastries are middle eastern and different from other coffee shops. The place is small and cozy and the best part is the kindness and attentiveness of the staff to their customers

Edited for service issue. Best meze in town. Very high quality. Visted dozens of times, and always had the same meze dish. (Meze III). Although last time we visited, the order was taken down incorrectly and they had to remake our dishes. Not before insisting that we ordered incorrectly with an attitude that baffled us from a customer service perspective. We actually don't want to return after this experience.

Lunch at Cafe Kottani, a Greek cafe in Bury St Edmunds. Stopped here as vegan options and prices are very reasonable. Limited seating though there are some tables further at the back and tables outside. Find yourself a unoccupied table and order at the counter. We ordered Meze 2 and a vegan Mushroom and Potatoe pie. Food was delicious and coffees were equally as nice. Single unisex cubicle toilet at the back. Definitely worth stopping here to eat.

Had the pork gyros. The practice of heating the whole wrap including salad is a big no no. It meant the salad was burning hot. There were 4 of us and all had the same issue. Not for us I'm afraid.

While staying in town I experimented with a different coffee place each day and thus ranks as my favorite. Good coffee and a new set of pastries at just the right size. The bartender was extremely nice not only to me but to all the customers. The place has a very good feel, cozy and warm and you can watch all the people go by

My first experience of Cafe Kottani was a great one. My Mum had been before and treated me to lunch. We had Mezze 1 & 2, a frappuccino & frappe to drink. The food was delicious and very filling. The staff were polite and served with a smile. My only criticisms would be that the falafel was slightly on the dry side. That is me being super picky and does not warrant losing a star. Already looking forward to my next visit. Recently visited again and had a lamb wrap which was cooked beautifully. Toilets were satisfactory.

I think it is time to leave a review for one of our favourite places in town. Kottani is a delightful family-owned cafe. The food is always satisfying, the service friendly and efficient. My daughter's favourite dish is the mezze 3. I used to go for a mezze myself but the portions are so generous that I usually cannot finish it all. So I settle for either the aubergine or the okra with pita bread. We brought my mom there last week - she's visiting us for the first time - and she has now been converted to hummus.

We were unfamiliar with Bury and visiting for the day. Our 3 year old was caught short and needed the bathroom in desperation with very little notice. The staff wouldn't let her use the bathroom without purchasing a bottle of water. I could possibly understand this for adults but this is ridiculously mean spirited for a child. In a time when society is focusing on business ethics I'd implore you to place your business in a place that maintains a baseline of human dignity.

Lovely setting and location but front of house has a face like thunder and at least 6 tables waiting to order with no sign of progress. Not coping with being busy at 130pm. Toilet is down end of dingy corridor that also feeds into kitchen only wide enough for one person so an effort in diplomacy to get through dodging serving staff. Could be really good but need to up the reception and service. We left without ordering and after no one offered any service.

Never disappointed when we have visited for lunch. The Mousakka is a homemade standoff, simply amazing. Larger portions than most light bites around the town centre. Accommodating to kids, although maybe not buggys due to space. Always full but someone is always leaving as we have entered #lucky Coffees are always piping hot and to barista specs. Definitely worth a regular visit and pleasantly situated in the middle of town. Not forgetting its also a local business too. Update: Have since popped in many times. Still always full of custom and the legendary Mousakka is generally available due to its popularity. My 11yr olds go to place to eat and celebrate. The panini's in her own words are 'really delicious'.

Food as always was fine. But made incorrectly due to the rush of the server. Came in at 1:30pm 1 hour till closing, and the atmosphere was panicked , rushed and ultimately I wished I’d never even bothered. All baps had salad scraped from the bottom of a tub, which the servers and managers couldn’t decide to keep out or put away, even while someone was making orders. I was told prawn was sold out, then they found some prawns to use. No manners from anyone involved. I had no time to mention an intolerance to tomato as the server rushed off to the kitchen to make my theirs and final order so this one went straight in the bin. No care taken. Please do better
