Decent local pub, busy and enjoyable on a Friday night (when I tend to go). Beer is pricey but that's par for the course these days, otherwise decent all round. Cheers!

I ate at The Stirling Arms twice this weekend! I had a couple of small plates on Friday when I met my Dad for a couple of drinks, and both were fantastic! I had the squid pakora with chilli mango sriacha sauce (bloody amazing) and the French onion soup! Seeing as the head chef is French, it came as no surprise that this was absolutely lovely. I then had a roast there last night with friends... I had the pork belly with crackling.. it was delicious, perfectly cooked and the crackling was great (crispy on top with that nice chewy thin fat bit underneath). They do a great range of vegetables and a huge fresh yorkie! The Cauliflower cheese side or is a MUST and so are the pork & apple stuffing balls! My friend said the nut roast was incredible and the other said the beef was amazing too. The tempranillo red wine was lovely and smooth, and the staff are always REALLY good and friendly. Nina the manager is great too, a very efficient pub manager who obviously selects a very good team! The cherry on the cake was the live jazz on the night, really nice touch and gentle in the background when we were all chatting over dinner! Highly recommended!

Love this tucked away gem for a late lunch after a spot of charity shopping on George Street. The garden is great all year round. I'm doing sober October & discovered Crodino! Good to see a more exciting alcohol-free option. I had the gnocchi & my husband had the beef cheek with horseradish mash, bone marrow dumplings, both dishes were tasty. So glad we ate here & look forward to trying some specials. Staff are friendly. Not my first or last time visiting!

I do generally like this pub as a place to drink, it’s a nice spot and there’s a lovely garden out the back. I don't often write reviews but I’ve been thinking on it… how can we expect places to improve if we don’t give feedback? I asked the waiter to confirm a dish was gluten free they said “yes definitely, it’s vegan” I let it slide and thought they had just got their words muddled but as I sat there waiting for the food I got worried that they really didn’t understand. I went in to double check and they said the same thing again, I asked a few more questions and it became clear they really didn’t know the difference between gluten and animal products. I understand that allergies can be complicated and I don’t expect everyone to understand but what concerned me was their confidence in confirming allergens when they didn’t understand. I would always be happy to wait if someone needed to check in with the kitchen, and in fact I think it shows a level of responsibility. I don’t want to shame the person serving but I really hope the restaurant can roll out a new rule where if a server doesn’t know the answer they are encouraged to go and check and to never say yes to something they are unsure of. I would have been ill after eating the meal I had ordered but others might have had a more severe reaction and this current approach could be dangerous. Saying all of that, another person at my table did receive a completely different meal to what they had ordered so there is the chance that the server was new or had an off day, who knows but I really hope they can roll out some stricter rules around allergens.

Friendly community pub with good food and service. We had a Sunday lunch which was tasty and reasonably priced. There are all the options for chicken, pork belly and crackling, beef topside, or lamb, or a combination of three meats. The vegetable medley was really tasty and it comes with a massive Yorkshire pudding.

Was visiting Hove to watch England Women cricket and the Stirling arms is excellently located, being a few minutes walk from both Hove train station and the Cricket Ground. Also just a few minutes walk to the sea front and to lots of shops and restaurants. Friendly welcome, very clean, nicely decorated room and en-suite bathroom, comfortable bed aided a good night's sleep. Well stocked tea/ coffee box and bottled water. Will definitely be staying here again on future trips to Hove.

They reserved a section of the pub for us and provided the buffet which was delicious and more than we could eat. Oh my bloody God! So, myself and a friend were hungry and decided to pop in for some food, noticed on one of the posters on the bar that for a mere 28 sqid we could have a whole rotisserie chicken, with all the trimmings and a carafe of wine, it far from dissipated, it excelled!! Now, I can eat but still we had some left at the end (sibyl the dog was not upset about this!) Great staff, an incredibly well built pub, just do it, you won't be disappointed!

Saturday afternoon at about 4pm. Expected a quiet saloon in which to have a couple of drinks. No doubt about it's popularity. Very busy with a wide age range. Music volume set loud. This meant everyone in the pub had to raise their voice when speaking. That might make for a lively pub, but after about half an hour I was irritated by it. If they just turned it down a bit you could spend all day in here. Harveys is good.

It’s a very popular place for Sunday roast and after sampling the food, I can see why. All the meats and vegetables were great but the Yorkshire pudding has to be singled out for particular praise. Went to the Stirling Arms on Feb 20th around 8:30pm. Customer service at the Stirling Arms was beneath subpar. The short, dark-haired woman was astonishingly rude. I was left to feel the contempt she felt for her patrons. I felt she was unequipt to work in a customer facing role. As someone who works in customer service, I would NEVER dream of treating a customer the way I was disrespected by her. It undermined the hardwork of the lovely, courteous blonde girl. I won't be spending my money here again, and I'll make sure others don't either. Consider another pub.
