This is a relaxing spot in view of the Pavilion, and tranqil despite backing onto one of Brighton's busiest streets. The cafe building is a treasure and the staff are very helpful and accommodating. The food is plentiful, and served promptly - though a disparity in portion size between different kinds of dish could be a bit embarrassing if you end up with something big! It's a lovely spot for a catch-up with friends and is thoroughly recommended. A bit puzzling though that coffee can be served in a selection of different sized cups, whereas for tea one size only is available.

Just a few feet from New Road, it felt like we were in the country: bird song, squirrels, dappled shade and the best apple pie I have had. The homemade food was fantastic and the staff were very friendly. A nice mixture of people, some with their dogs, some with kids in tow and some more elderly regulars, everyone having a good time. I wish we could have stayed there much longer but it was the perfect Sunday morning chill.

I have walked past the Pavilion Gardens Cafe on numerous occasions but never stopped, so pleased I did the other day whilst showing a friend around Brighton. What a wonderful spot to people watch! Tables and chairs spread out across the edge of the gardens gives you a wonderful view of the Pavilion and the food isn't half bad either! Lovely fresh sandwiches and sparkling water were just the right order for a hot summer's day. Some of the cooked food which was being served around us looked very tempting as well. I believe that this Cafe has been in the same place for many years, in fact, the history of when it started is proudly displayed on the wall. We've lived in Brighton for 16 years and don't often come to this place. No real reason other than it's often busy and we are usually on our way somewhere else. But we were visiting the neighbouring museum for an exhibition and had the dog with us. As it was sunny we thought we'd take turns with the gallery whilst the other stayed with the dog and enjoyed a cuppa and a bit of a time with the Sunday papers in the sunshine. I'd forgotten what a relaxing place it could be despite being in the centre of town. It's a sun trap but with some shade from the trees. A nice mix of people, from day trippers to locals, many of whom have clearly been coming here for years. So it was a pleasant place for a cup of tea. Enough so, that we decided to stay on and have lunch when we were done with the exhibition. Simple, unpretentious food at reasonable prices. Being outside it relies on dry weather. But it also makes it dog, child and wheelchair friendly. What's not to like?
