The Station Hotel Pub and Kitchen in Brighton and Hove

The table we booked was located in an area with a large booking, however the staff were great in reminding the table that there were other guests and asked them to be seated so that we could get to our table. Staff kept us informed of the situation and took our order. When seated they kept checking to ensure all was well. The food was excellent. Staff were great so we will be back on our next visit to Brighton.

A great location and friendly staff. Our Sunday roast was delicious (1 x pork and 1 x chicken both beautifully cooked). The veg tasted so fragrant and light, plenty of sides included in the meal, crisp yorkshires and a very rich and creamy cauli cheese. All topped off with a tasty Eton mess for dessert. Will be returning very soon and highly recommend to all.

Great food, might look like a meagre portion on the plate but man do they fill you up. Lovely pint of Guinness and a nice glass of red to round off the evening. Not a huge amount of space but that's hardly an issue unless it's an England game, and then well...... Been meaning to go for a while, and will definitely be going back.

Found this gem of a pub, bar staff and locals were friendly and very welcoming. We had the sirloin steak as a special on the day and the food was amazing personally thanked the chef and staff the atmosphere was positive and warming the actually find a traditional pub with character with a sense of humor and kindness thank you for having me. We booked lunch for Father’s Day . Lovely quality meal with great choices and generous portions . Delicious roasts with fantastic trimmings . As ever the staff and food were excellent . Three generations all happy and loved their food. We are lucky to have the Station as our local ; Steve and his team are consistent and genuine . Thank you !

Another visit to this great local pub. Went to meet a friend for lunch and enjoy the sunshine in the rear courtyard /garden. Ordered 3 dishes from the small plate menu which were delicious and great value at 3 dishes for £18. Others ordered the cheeseburgers which again were very tasty. If you’re looking for a lunch (or dinner ) spot with good food , service , wine and beer don’t hesitate to visit.

The perfect pub. Well managed and everyone warmly welcomed. Superb food and menu. First time eating here on NYE with a large tables of family, friends and kids. We were looked after with perfect hospitality and nothing was too much trouble for the staff or kitchen (including some tricky changes and dietary needs). Every single one of our party were wowed by the food. My mussels (Breton style) were the best I've had. I've come from a high end hospitality venue and can promise this place does not disappoint. The food at the Station is simply lovely. Whether I have gone for one of the classics or one of the ambitious and unusual specials, the quality has always been superb. The Fig Sponge is out of this world if you get the chance to try it. The pub is a great place to both eat and drink. Highly recommended.

We've had this place on our radar to try their Sunday Lunch for at least four years. Finally received an invitation 👌. Certainly ticked all my boxes. Excellent service and an equally excellent choice of meals on offer. I had the pork belly, which was simply mouth wateringly good. Finished off my other half's beef, so I can vouch for that as well. The only negative was being too stuffed to try a pudding. 😉

Amazing roast dinner. The pork and beef both cooked to perfection. My brother had a cauliflower roast which was really good too. Also comes with amazing seasoned veg and Yorkshire pudding. One of best in Brighton. Highly recommend

My Sunday lunch of pork belly was delicious and plentiful. My husband ordered the fish and chips which really just OK and disappointing portions.

1st time in The Station Hotel, waiting for my son to finish college to toast his 18th! Perfect, nice welcome, good feeling when I walked in, with my father to toast his grandson. It was early afternoon so the bar wasn't very busy, yet everyone gave a cheer and wished my son the best. A nice pub! And looking forward to popping in again.

We had a fabulous dinner and really enjoyed the ambience of the pub, the staff are so friendly and could not be more helpful. We ate the vegetarian shepherds pie and my friend had the burger. We were so full by the end we could not fit a pudding in which was really annoying as last time I had the crumble and was very excited about having it again. It was so yummy. We will be back asap

We had Sunday lunch a few weeks ago and have to say, love The Station, a real asset to the local community. We have also been for supper and events like a Pub Quiz; but back to my fave, their roasts, especially the delicious cauliflower cheese (there seems to be a secret ingredient in the cauliflower cheese for delicious extra tanginess) and roasties are smashing. Think it’s one of the few places in Brighton where people of all ages feel comfortable, chat to each other, and where the team are always professional and look after every customer. Great local pub and hope businesses like this continue to be supported in a positive manner as we all work through a tricky economy! I went for drinks tonight and it was fabulous and welcoming as always. Looking forward to lunch in a few weeks again soon!

Another fantastic evening with my family at the Station. So welcoming, friendly and relaxed. Super service, great food, drinks, wine and loved the new specials. The veggie cottage pie was great as was the Thai fish cakes and the kids loved their crispy kitchen starters and Halloumi and beef burgers! All consistently great as always, thanks very much!!

I was with a friend and we sat outside as the sun was shining. We ordered two glasses of Merlot and decided to have roast beef. Jack the waiter was very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. We then decided the wine was so good we ordered a bottle and asked if we could take it home if unfinished. Jack said of course. It all went downhill from there. The beef was disgusting, the gravy was like water and had so much oil. The cauliflower cheese and all veg terrible including the roast potatoes. I had two mouthfuls and my friend, because she was so hungry had a bit more than me. She asked for a doggy bag for the meat and we were not charged for the roast lunch. We then ordered apple crumble and ice cream, which was edible but not much better. At least the dog enjoyed his beef!! We will never go there again, surfice to say....... but Jack was lovely

A proper locals' local. I was lucky enough to have dinner here one night along with a selection of ales to wash it down. After a few got chatting with the regulars and what a lovely bunch of people. The owner of this place is a true gent and has pulled together a great team to deliver a good old fashioned English boozer. Food is outstanding and very well priced.

So, it turns out that in 20 plus years, I've never used 100% of the foot passage at Preston Park Station to go from one side of the tracks to the other. Up til now, its been halfway through then up the stairs to the platform level. What an exciting opportunity for a little midweek adventure that will include lunch, I thought. First surprise was that once through the foot tunnel and up the stairs on the other side, there was a footpath I wasn't expecting, so i probably wasn't going to be where I thought I would be and just because I hadn't told anyone where i was going, I was about to be kidnapped, or at least about to be faced with a dystopian flight of steps up to the posher end of Dyke Road and get whipped across the face for looking in the window of Mr D'Arcy's Horseless carriage and opium emporium. Pleasantly surprised to find the station house was directly opposite the end of the (admittedly short) footpath, no Led Zeppelin stairways at all. Unfortunately, Not open for lunch when I visited. Kitchen reopens at 4pm on Thursday.

So cute for a a catch up with friends over nice food. Got nice posh restaurant vibes but chilled like a pub. The food is delicious I had the fish and chips and will definitely be coming back.

A hidden gem. We live near the Statio Hotel Pub and have often wondered what the food is like. Today we decided to book for the Sunday roast. There was four of us and our baby boy in a pram. The service was really good from the moment we called to book and throughout our meal. Very family friendly. The food was incredible. Without a doubt one of the best roasts I've had in Brighton and Hove. We also had starters and dessert and everything, from the sauces to the actual items on the plates, we're just perfection. Undoubtedly a hidden gem in the city and one we look forward to visiting again very soon.

We found this place on our recent trip to Brighton. We just went for a few pints and bar snacks and managed to grab a table on a Friday night. Very friendly staff, even when I walked off not realising my tab hadn't been paid properly 😋

We wanted somewhere nice to celebrate my husband's birthday and couldn't have chosen any better! The staff were all lovely and very friendly and the roast dinners were perfect! Had really fab lunch here today. Never been there before and probably wouldn't even think about it, but I had no idea how wonderful the food is! I had pork belly which was exactly as it ought to be: crispy on top with soft, tender meat beneath-Yum! But desert was a revelation - artist at work - honestly! Highly recommend.

What a great experience… Such a friendly welcome, went in on a busy Sunday afternoon. The staff were happy to find me a table, and I had the most fantastic Sunday roast, I also had a great pea & ham soup and an extremely tasty chocolate delice – I could not fault the food, meat and potatoes were great of course, but the carrots were so sweet, the cauliflower cheese was delicious. Even the greens were super tasty. Staff, incredibly friendly, attentive efficient – will definitely be back, I’d love to try food at other times in the week – they clearly know what they are doing! The pub has a great vibe, a proper local pub, but I did not feel left out even though I just went in on the off chance…thanks to all the staff in the pub/kitchen.!

I visited with a friend and our children during half term for a lunchtime treat. There were 7 of us and we'd pre booked but turned up early. The manager welcomed and seated us and brought us menus, promising curly straws to the kids (which they could keep!) but unfortunately it turned out they were out of stock! =disappointed kids!! Hey ho - we ordered and the food was fairly quick and tasty although mine could have been hotter. I ordered something I wouldn't normally cook at home which was a mushroom stuffed pasta with mushroom sauce which was very nice. We'd printed our Tesco vouchers which made it a very reasonable visit (only had to pay for drinks and service charge) so we spent a very pleasant hour catching up and sharing some lovely Italian food.

We decided to visit Bella Italia as it is known for its good Italian food selection at a fair price and they offer student discount which is a bonus! However this Bella Italia was not the best one I have visited, but we still had an enjoyable meal. It is very quaint Italian style inside which is lovely but I did feel slightly cramped in and it did feel slightly dated and worn. The food that was served was of good standard and was what to be expected however the service was not too great. The staff were polite and friendly however they served half of the main meals while we were still eating the starters and then the remainder of the meals did not arrive for another 5 mins. I imagine this was a timing error in the kitchen so perhaps better communication between the floor staff and the kitchen staff may be needed? We also ordered a bottle of wine which did not arrive till we reminded them 3/4 of the way through the mains - perhaps another communication issue? We also found that at the end of the meal they had charged us for 2 bottles of wine and not one! The food itself was presented and cooked well and the 3 courses were enjoyed by all. The cocktails were not as a great as other similar chains but we did still enjoy them. It was a nice evening out but would say no more than an average meal and certainly not the best Bella Italia chain around.

We revisited this restaurant last week, and I can scarcely believe that we went to the same place as writers of some other reviews - unless, perhaps, the takeaway food is very different from the eat-in stuff. We weren't able to tell what was on the takeaway menu, since the little menu-cards outside (one of which we picked up the following day) are only in Chinese. The eat-in menu is fascinating, the food not at all greasy and, despite the rather rough exterior of the place, the service is prompt and friendly. Dry house white wine is crisp and very palatable.The dining room is always busy with Chinese customers - always a good sign, and the menu somewhat quirkily reads from back to front. We shall certainly return to this gem of a place - it always makes a wonderful beginning to our week-ends in Brighton.

We were very excited to try the much talked about “Station roast” and our expectations were exceeded! Absolutely delicious. Great portion sizes. Although still managed to squeeze in a pud - which was also very tasty. Service was spot. Steve and his team made us feel very welcome. A proper pub serving super food.

We have just has a truly excellent and faultless Sunday Roast at The Station Hotel. The food was absolutely delicious. My husband and son had the pork belly and I had the chicken breast. Each dish came with perfectly cooked, crispy roast potatoes, Yorkshire puddings, cauliflower cheese and vegetables with gravy and it was absolutely delicious. Steve, Vicky and David are always very welcoming. We highly recommend the, Station Hotel Hotel (by Preston Park station) for Sunday lunch.

Great atmosphere with friendly bar staff. I opted for a bloody mary which was made using their special ingredient spice mix. It was delicious and very tasty unlike some of the watery bloody marys that some places make. I’ll definitely hear back for another.

Tucked away behind platform 3 at Preston Park station. This pub has friendly staff that will be sure to look after as you walk through the door. There is a great looking food menu and if the Sunday roast is anything to go buy I'm sure it will taste as good.
