Must do better? Had a sunday roast here the first time under the new management. I won't be rushing back.

Good food & service. Decor too dark,made the surroundings unwelcoming. No heating, made us leave early without ordering a dessert.

Poor menu, not as described. Long wait Noisy live band at lunchtime One of our party had wrong order twice All dessert menu was marked as vegan when was vegetarian. Was told it was typo. Not good when you have severe allergies or intolerance. Ok if you just want a Sunday drink, just not coffee as machine broken. Whole family had to get coffee elsewhere.

The food was outstanding. Hake and chips, perfect batter and perfect chips. I will be going here a lot from now on

popped in with a friend for a drink, seems like a nice place, I will return soon with my family and try the food.

5* service. Needed an emergency room last minute and these guys helped my friend to the most they possible could. A member of staff drove my friend to the hospital to pick myself up after having an epileptic fit and took me back to the pub to stay for the evening. The whole stay was welcoming and will be returning. Great staff, Great owner.

We stopped here for dinner last week. Great service from James. And the food was lovely, we had small plates and burgers - both were brilliant! Unfortunately we are not local, we were on our way to Devon - The Star was easy to find and not too far from the M5. We will definitely be back when passing this way again!

Never trust the photos! The room was best suited to be a single. 2 twin beds with the bathroom door between them. There is no bedside table, no wardrobe, just a rail. Fly's circling the ceiling light all night. Small rug covering stained and cigarette burns on the carpet !No staff on site. Key safe outside. If you arrive in the dark, you need a torch, badly lit area to gain access The only saving grace was the owner, who I contacted by phone agreed immediately after 1 nights stay to fully refund the full amount to allow us to book our second night somewhere else.

Myself and a group of friends visited for Sunday lunch and we were all very impressed. The Sunday lunch was fantastic, great quality food, decent sized portions and extremely good value for money. The service was equally as good, incredibly friendly and professional staff. Topped off with some amazing cocktails in the sunny beer garden. Most definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

Outstanding Sunday lunch!! Myself and a group of friends visited for Sunday lunch a few weeks ago. The food was excellent, decent sized portions and very good quality. There were 6 of us in total and the whole group were in agreement. The service was just as good, nothing was too much trouble, the staff were incredibly friendly and professional. I would highly recommend.

Gluten free, if you need it. Fresh, excellent. Loved it. Will come back. Loved the Sunday roast, thanks.

Comfy and clean, would recommend lights in car park and walk way as we left at 3.00am to catch a flight and there were no lights at all very dark

We visited The Star Inn having heard it was under new management. We arrived to be met with a warm greeting and ordered drinks. We chose a table and ordered our food. We opted fir burgers as we had heard they were a speciality. We were not disappointed. Absolutely delicious with superb French fries. We will definitely be returning.

What a hidden gem. We had the fish soup to start which was so fresh and could taste every ingredient. Then came the roast dinner a huge slab from a shoulder of lamb and a huge slice of pork belly with crackling to die for. Proper roast potatoes clearly cut in house and proper homemade Yorkshires. What a great place! The food was lovely, the atmosphere was perfect and the staff were the cherry on the top of a perfect dessert! We stayed here enroute to our holiday in Ilfracombe and wished we could have stayed there for several nights instead of just the one.

Very pleasant evening out with girl friends. James who served us was enthusiastic, hard working and made us laugh. The food was good and the kitchen were knowledgeable about dietary requirements. Good value tapas, a nice glass of rosé and a friendly team on a Wednesday evening - what’s not to like?

Lorynne saved the day! Turned up late on a Saturday evening with the prospect of sleeping in the car looming large and the wonderful Lorynne managed to sort us out. We got a very friendly welcome and our room was lovely with great views of the countryside and a very nice bathroom. We even managed to squeeze in a couple of drinks at the bar before last orders and if the Yorkshire pudding was anything to go by, the Sunday roasts must be wonderful. What more could you ask for! Thank you so much for your help. Hopefully we will see you again for next years balloon fiesta. S&S

Wow. Had a fantastic Sunday Lunch even though we got there quite late in the day. The staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble. Looking forward to going back next week for mid week meal. We didn't stay in hotel part but someone staying there said it was very good.

Wow........ just came back from the Star inn Tickenham, we had their Tapas and all 7 dishes we had were fantastic!!!!!!!! Normally we have a favourite however they were all fabulous, will be returning very soon.......may be next week!

Sunday lunch would have been nice if hot only Luke warm.For a Sunday lunch time the pub was empty. Who paints a pub dark grey inside.Was like being in a night club with the music so loud.

2 night stay Friday and Saturday in hotel. Very welcoming and helpful staff. Room was spacious, loads of free parking, dog friendly and great garden. Will be staying here again as priced very well. Food is also excellent. We had 3 course Sunday lunch and also tried the tapas.

We were driving past The Star about 3:30 on a Sunday afternoon and took a chance they had a table for a late lunch. Which they did. In fact, they had plenty of empty tables as there were no more than 3-4 taken by family...

We have popped in here a couple of times now after boing to golf at Tickenham. We have enjoyed sitting outside in the sun and having a meal. Lovely staff, food and the wine was good too.

I didn't stay. I just found The Star after a very long unpleasant drive from Stirling on my way to Plymouth. The M5 was at a standstill and after 12 hours in awful traffic this place was a haven of calm and welcoming. If I get the chance I will return. Thank you for The Green tea and letting me unwind. It meant that when the car I was driving broke down as I got back on the motorway ,I was in the right frame of mind and remained surprisingly calm.

Very slow service despite being quite strangest hot prawn cocktail not all drinks on menu available tiny meat portion clearly not a joint and cold £2.95 for pigs in blankets 3 small slices of sausage no bacon disappointing!

The rooms are just being updated, but I hope one thing they do is change the mattress in room 3 not the comfiest nights sleep, and a long mirror, I'm sure they are going to fit, saying that the service is outstanding, such lovely people, a new venture for them that we wish them luck with, oh by the way guys music in the inn was amazing when sat outside in the sun its almost like being on a beach in ibiza

A great pub with awesome friendly service. Lorynne is a really friendly host. Good place to stay before going to the airport good rooms TV WiFi, tea, coffee facilities, great food and nice sunny garden to sit in and drink good beers. Highly recommended.

Stayed for 2 nights and really enjoyed my visit. Hotel entrance is around back of hotel and this area could be lit better for late arrivals. Room was very good, spacious, clean and everything worked! Staff I met were very friendly. Good parking but no pavement outside so walking is tricky.

Went on a sunny Thursday evening and sat in the garden, the other children loving the play area and a really nice vibe. We all had a burger and was hands down the best quality burger I have ever had. A lot of thought had clearly gone in to the food. Will be back again soon!
