Sadly disappointed by the food very overpriced and overrated but I must say Zoe was an excellent host very accommodating I must take a moment to commend the exceptional service provided by our waitress, Zoe . From the moment we were seated, she greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel right at home. Her knowledge of the menu was impressive; she offered insightful recommendations and was attentive to our dietary preferences. Throughout our meal, Zoe checked in on us at just the right moments, ensuring that our drinks were filled and that we had everything we needed without being intrusive. What truly stood out was her genuine enthusiasm and positive attitude, which added to the overall dining experience. She handled a busy section with grace and efficiency, making sure that every table received the same level of care and attention. She truly was brilliant

I cant give a full review..as we didnt get served.we waited patiently to order..after being told to find a table.but..no one came.we noticed that several other people were in the same situation as us.So we left .which was a shame as the resturant and bar looked soo beautiful.

What a super spot to have supper at if visiting Bristol. Sophie who looked after us was really professional, friendly and gave good recommendations and made our evening. Steak was cooked perfectly, sides were delicious and wine choice was excellent. Would recommend if you need good food and great ambience.

Spent a wonderful evening at Browns Brasserie with my family celebrating our 25th Wedding Anniversary. Service and food was amazing, and our lovely waitress Andrea arranged a special gesture with our desserts congratulationing us. (A board with Happy Anniversary written in icing/cream and 2 profiteroles).

It is a beautiful place, and the atmosphere and service are very good, I have only been there for a coffee and a dessert, I loved it, I totally recommend it

I stopped by Browns after seeing it from a bus on my way to tour Clifton Bridge. It absolutely proved to be the right place to chill after a long day, visiting Bristol. The place is exceptionally well looked after. The staff, ladies, you were warm, friendly, and welcoming. A must visit highly recommend in Bristol.

I went there with my friends for a coffee. I was immediately impressed with the entire interior decor and layout. It creates a very nice atmosphere and the music at the right volume contributes even more. The service was very good and always with a smile. Very good experience and I would like to repeat it.

I was kicked out of the restaurant for no reason. When I was trying to get a dinner table, the staff kept saying that I would like to order drinks. After trying to clarify myself several times, she said she didn’t understand and asked me to repeat it again and again. It felt like she was gaslighting me. The restaurant was quite full on that day. When I looked around at the other customers in the restaurant, they were all white. Bristol is a multicultural city. I wonder if my Chinese ethnicity played a role in my treatment. For your information, I have been studying and working in London for over 15 years. (Further information: The incident occurred on August 11 at around 6 PM. I am quite sure all the waiters were white British, while the kitchen may have had staff of other ethnicities, which is a common practice in some restaurants in the UK and Europe.)

Arrived a bit later without booking a table….they were very accommodating, we had a table straight away! Service as a bit slow even though it seemed very quiet….ended up having our mains served before our starters… server was very apologetic. Meal was delicious and good value for money. Sunday lunch with an old friend, food was overall great, roast pork and crackling yum, cod dish lovely. My friend felt the sundae looked nice but was ordinary. My sticky pudding was delicious but needed more sauce or cream. We were charged for bottled water which was assumed to be plain tap water. However the manager listened and removed the charge- good response 👏🏿 👏🏿

Have been visiting for over 20 years. The staff are always very professional and friendly, the atmosphere, building, interior and outside space is all lovely! Definitely one of our favorite spots for a drink in Bristol.

Had such a lovely evening at Browns in Bristol. They catered amazingly for me as a celiac and I had a gorgeous steak and asparagus starter. Our server was Matt and he was excellent, really enjoyed the evening thanks to him :) will be back!

From start to finish, Browns provided a spectacular experience. Thanks to Bethen, who showed us to our table promptly. Lovely restaurant, disabled flat access to the side of the building. The food was amazing my only two negative points here are that it's a bit on the pricey side the portion side is not great but the quality and service is exceptional. So I would have to say you get what you pay for an incredible meal. Personally I would always prefer quality over quantity and price. We celebrated a very special occasion here and the staff went out of there way to make us feel special This is the best customer service I have ever received. Thank you browns oh and by the way the veggie burger is fabulous too.

Last experience years ago of this restaurant wasn't great, tried it again today (impromptu visit for dessert), sat down and ordered 2 desserts and a cocktail. Waited a while, only to be told desserts were not available, cocktail came out which I sent back as it ruined the experience. You would expect a place like this to run out of food!

We had a delicious meal at Brownes last night to celebrate my daughters 30th the venue was amazing the food was so delicious and the staff were all very friendly and attentive special mention to Zoe who was really helpful with organising dietary requirements and the cake we all had a wonderful evening will definitely visit again

Went to browns for bottomless brunch for my birthday. Disappointed they wouldn’t swap the salmon for bacon and charged me extra for bacon. Service on the drinks were slow and were left with glasses empty for a while. Just overall a bit meh. Was nice to sit outside in the sun. But won’t be going back for bottomless for sure! Wasn’t good value for money.

We celebrated our first year anniversary at Browns on 29/06/24! We were offered the best sun facing table as per our choice by Alex, who ensured we were comfortable and well looked after! Alex and Eliza were very kind and lovely, they recommended us with delicious lunch options, suiting our occasion and taste buds! Eliza suggested us the best, luscious and refreshing dessert (ice cream sundae) to mark our occasion! Both were enthusiastic and professional, friendly and smiling, easy to approach and converse, great at choices and recommendations!

Picture this. I’ve been mercilessly sinking IPAs all day. The weather in Bristol is absolutely scorching and it dawns upon me that I’m inadequately dressed for an uphill hike to the Wills monument; in a corduroy shirt and a pair of jeans. During our ascent up the hill I quickly realise I’m absolutely about to peg. Me and homeboy are white knuckling through the consequences of our IPA addiction (at the marina- lots of fun). Just as I’m beginning to fade. Look left, look right. Look left and right again. There it is… Like a bright light at the end of the darkest tunnel, I see the sanctuary and safe Haven of what is now a special place in my heart: BROWNS. We stumble our way in as weary travellers on the piss, greeted by the warm smile of a waitress who politely says hello. I reply “THANK YOU.” Two cappuccinos and three jugs of water later I can unequivocally say I’m feeling on top of the world. I came to Browns a boy, and left as a man. Can proudly say that Browns is for the clowns. Will definitely come back sometime soon.

Lovely location and building, and we've been coming here for years. But the paucity of vegan options is disheartening - I went for the vegan roast, which was £20 once you include the service charge. It was super basic, a small amount of very familiar nut roast, plus a couple of slices of potato and some greens. It felt like an afterthought, lacking in substance or imagination. I'm totally aware that this isn't a problem with this particular branch; the staff were nice (although my partner had to wait for a while to be shown to her seat) and the building is stunning and well-presented. But the problem is that Brown's has gone from being somewhere classy and special to another run-of-the-mill chain - and there are better chains out there. Loungers, for instance, are more laid-back, but they have a far better vegan menu with loads of options.

We had a fantastic meal on the terrace at Browns Brasserie & Bar in Bristol. The staff were attentive and efficient, ensuring our needs were taken care of throughout our lunchtime visit. The lemon sole and rack of lamb we ordered were both cooked to perfection. While it's a bit of a climb up from the waterfront, the delicious food and excellent service make it absolutely worthwhile visit if you are in Bristol looking for something special.

Visit to Browns was lovely, venue is stunning, piano was playing which was beautiful and my grandmother-in-law was really impressed with. Waiter was very professional and helpful and food was perfect.

Dear Peter, Thank you for your response. However, I must express that it is totally unacceptable and shows no sincerity regarding my complaint. Firstly, it does not matter how the waitress is rated overall. Her behavior during our visit was unacceptable, a point even confirmed by the manager, who admitted she should have offered us an alternative. Your support of her actions, despite this, is disgraceful and hurtful. Secondly, you have clearly misunderstood my concerns about the receipt. We did not wish to pay for service and wanted to receive our discount. While we did avoid the service charge, we did not receive our discount due to the confusing explanation of the receipt. The complaint was not that the waitress never explained the bill, but that it was offered with no explanation and was only clarified when I asked, which added to the confusion. We never asked for a discount on the soft drinks; it was just included, but her misinterpretation of the bill meant we did not get the proper discount anyway. Additionally, our complaint about the greens was not a matter of personal taste; they were not cooked properly. The table opposite us ordered the same dish, and their greens were visibly different, not tough like ours. When I picked up my greens, they were like cardboard, unlike the other table's properly cooked greens. Your response clearly demonstrates a lack of understanding of my complaint and attempts to brush me off, much like the waitress did on Saturday. If the waitress is so highly rated and our treatment was so poor, I wonder if there was another reason for why she treated three African-Caribbean women that way. Furthermore, I believe I am owed the £17 that was meant to be discounted from our bill. Offering a £20 gift voucher is not satisfactory, as it requires me to return to your premises and spend more money, which I am reluctant to do given this experience. How is this a fair resolution? I would appreciate a more appropriate resolution, such as a refund, that does not necessitate another visit. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and that you communicate back with a satisfactory resolution.

It looks lovely inside however despite my specification that we couldn’t be inside if it was fishy smelling due to a severe allergy, when we arrived the odour was overpowering - we arranged to sit outside - the alternative room offered wasn’t suitable as the person would’ve had to have walked through the main door where it smelt. We were a group of 13 and preordered but still waited a very long time for our food we didn’t leave until 9pm it took so long for the service. I felt the dishes were mediocre - my schnitzel was dry and bland and the chips too salty. Unfortunately one person had their steak almost dropped in their lap and grease from the steak marked her trouser suit. It was an afterthought that the waitress checked that the fish allergy sufferer could have the chips. The condiments and steak sauces arrived half way through the first course. When we went to pay the waitress said she was too busy to work out our payments if we were paying indubitably so we’d have to do it ourselves - overall disappointing

Having read a glowing post revamp review in Clifton Life what I was expecting was far from what myself, my partner and my business colleagues experienced. The staff were desultorily flippant and totally detached from providing any service whatsoever. I had to ask 3 times to provide peanuts with our drinks which they finally and grudgingly provided...mixed stale nuts with pecans in shells mixed in! I mean, what moron does that - I almost broke a tooth?! Then they charged £11 for a medium glass of red wine and craftily slipped in a pint of lager when a 'same again' drinks round of a half pint was ordered. Is it becoming endemic in Bristol that young staff in opulent surroundings in natty pinnies in an establishment that charges 'are you havin' a larf' prices' and are not required to do more for their patrons than just stand around chatting and look at you non-plussed when you ask them 3 times for a glass of rose wine on our table over there?! We did not stay to eat...God only knows what that torturous experience would have been! I will never go there again... it was mediocre years ago and yes, it's now refurbished to enhance a higher level of mediocrity!

We had a fabulous time, from the minute we were shown to our tables. Andreea was our host and she was so attentive to every detail. Kept us up to date all evening with the status of our orders. We all had different starters and main courses, and not one of them had a fault. It’s slightly more expensive than other places, but boy is it worth it. The food was some of the best I have ever eaten. Try the Crispy Fried Mozzarella starter and the Crispy Portobello Mushroom and Halloumi Burger - absolute heaven. The staff bought our birthday cake to the table whilst loudly singing Happy Birthday to my son so the rest of the restaurant joined in too. Honestly couldn’t fault the night. Thank you Andreea xx

We stayed over the weekend in Bristol and visited Browns based on recommendation of our bartender in the hotel. It didn't dissapoint. Majestic building, great ambience, tasty food and excellent service by Andreea made our experience unforgettable. We will visit once again when in Bristol.

Just came in for a cocktail to celebrate my wife's birthday and the waitress was so nice that she gave us a profiterole happy birthday desert and made us feel really special. Great atmosphere.

Staying in Bristol a few days and I set off for a walk from my hotel hoping to maybe find somewhere to eat. Headed up towards the University, and I stumbled across “Brown's Brassiere and bar”. The menu outside looked great with lots of choices. (I’m a non meat eater) and there were 12 main course options, 7 fish and 4 vegan/ vegetarian. I had the roast cod, with wild garlic and asparagus, pommes anna potatoes, peas, leeks, broad beans, watercress wild garlic and salsa verde, and cornflowers. It was absolutely DIVINE. A stunningly attractive plate of clean, delicious food. The cod was cooked to absolute perfection, as was the whole dish. It was truly fabulous. Worth every penny of £20.95. The waiters were very professional, helpful and approachable. Very nice choice of wines served in good quality glasses. You won’t be disappointed.
