A disappointment. Pasta not al dente. Portions are really small- stingy Service friendly

Lovely afternoon spend in a beautifully converted Venetian-Gothic building, as an architecture graduate I really appreciate beautiful interiors. The host greeting us and seated our group in a lovely setting which was all ready and prepared for our arrival. Our server was very attentive and constantly checking if we were happy or needed anything. The traditional fish and chips was a favourite amongst our guests! Would recommend the linguine & elderflower mocktail. We will definitely be back soon and recommend if you are visiting Bristol to stop by especially as the brunch we had previously was great - try the pancakes!

It has one of the most beautiful interiors of Bristol restaurants so spacious that you never file that you are encroaching on another table. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff with our family and small granddaughters and there is a great choice of classic food - something for everyone.

The service we received from our waitress Emelia was excellent at lunchtime. We ordered the seafood platter starter followed by mushroom burger and monkfish curry. Tiramisu dessert was a delicious treat too to finish. Thank you.

Browns Bristol has always been a great place to have a meeting with clients or a friendly discussion.

Booked this for my birthday with my husband. When we arrived the gentleman at the desk was looking after a lady kept saying "I will be with you soon" we were seated after a while the waiter was ok wasn't really that friendly. We ordered lamb shepards pie and chicken schnitziel. Apple and rhubarb crumble and choc brownie (had better) Mains was delicious. The ambience was excellent as was the wine. I would go back and give it anor go to see if its better next time.

Good set menu, attentive staff even though we were sat out on the balcony they ensured we were looked after. Food was good both in terms of flavour and value for money. One star removed as they didn’t actually give us the set course menu, we asked for it because we happen to see it on the website. Secondly, my bill was completely wrong and despite us flagging it, no apology was offered just a correction. Overall it was a positive experience and I would return.

Was told to take a seat outside and wait for service- 20 minutes later…. No service.

Fantastic service, think his name was Meowting? We had the mushroom halloumi burgers from the new menu. The new buns are a much better quality than before, absolutely delicious! New fave burger spot. Also would get the tiramisu again. Please pass our compliments onto the chefs :) thanks Browns

We hadn't eaten in Brown for at least five years (it's a long walk). Food was very good. Service was excellent. Bowns was deserted on a Friday evening! It would have been so much nicer with more people.

Incredible anniversary experience, came for a few drinks, stayed for a whole meal in the end as the atmosphere was amazing, the servers were attentive and speedy with their service. Cannot recommend more - made a special occasion all the more special. Shout out to the bartenders that were working that evening, we will be returning.

Great experience worth the visit

Beautiful, glamorous space with a buzzy atmosphere. But..Waited nearly an hour and a half for main course. Halloumi burger had a huge chewy mushroom, so messy! Menu needs tweaking..

I hadn’t been to Browns for a long while, now I’m wondering why? Just popped in for a quick drink after a trip to the photography Exhibition. We were met and quickly seated with fabulous view taking in the high vaulted ceiling restaurant. I was delivered a delicious Italian rosè Prosecco. We were enjoying the ambience so had a look at the menu and quickly got a table for an early supper. Wonderful food served by Emelia, a friendly engaging but also professional young waitress. I’ll definitely be returning soon.Donna

We had a great Sunday roast at Browns today, with great starters and desserts too. Service was very good (shoutout to Ella who was lovely and very attentive) and the atmosphere was fabulous with some background piano music.

Came here for my Valentines dinner with my partner, pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food, drinks and service! I had the Cod & Garlic Salsa Verde and my partner had the Fillet Steak, they were both made to perfection. The service was extremely attentive despite the incredibly busy restaurant, as expected by Valentines day. Had the Kissing Cosmo cocktail, a Valentines special which was a perfect spin on the classic. Will be returning.

It had been ages since our group got together, and what better occasion than Valentine’s Day—surrounded by lovebirds—to make a little noise and celebrate our own kind of reunion? the atmosphere was buzzing with romance, but we added our own flavor of loud laughter, inside jokes, and nonstop storytelling. The food was great and every dish hit the spot. Anna our waitress handled our rowdy energy like pros, making sure our glasses were always full and our plates were cleared with a smile!

We went for dinner in the early evening before a concert and unfortunately we were extremely disappointed by the food. My partner had a starter of the crispy goats cheese which was adequate, then we both had the cod with peas, broad beans and asparagus. We were both mystified as to what had been done to the beautiful pieces of cod, which were served overcooked and with dry, leathery skin but no colour or flavour. They had then been put on top of the veg mix with no attempt at a sauce or butter to bring the dish together. A miserable plate and waste of quality ingredients. The wine was also mediocre. The service was fine but given the 10% service charge added automatically to the bill, you would hope so. When we spend £100 on a meal at a restaurant we expect the standard of cooking to exceed what we are capable of at home, which was far from the case in this instance. It is lazy, careless institutional cooking and in that sense an absolute rip-off. Furthermore I am very suspicious about the proliferation of 5-star reviews, especially those which name their waiter in such glowing terms! Maybe we were incredibly unlucky when we visited but we didn't feel the food or wine was worth what we paid (although not bad enough to leave on the plate or complain about) and that will be our last visit to Brown's.

Staff are so friendly. We went recently for my Dad’s birthday and they were so great and brought him out free profiteroles! Lovely food and can always guarantee good service.

Ed was fantastic—friendly, professional, and really knew his cocktails. He made great drink recommendations and ensured everything was perfect. The food was delicious, but the steak was potentially a little overcooked. Looking forward to coming back for another Old Fashioned made by Ed!

Visired Saturday early evening for drinks; we love the beautiful setting and atmosphere! Table staff were very lovely but unfortunately we did not receive friendly service from female bar staff.

Took an elderly gentleman for afternoon tea,the service was good but the afternoon tea was awful,the scones are not freshly made and were bought in they were as hard as rocks, crumbled when cut,asked to be replaced but the scones were still hard,very disappointing as my gentleman does get out much . Would not recommend for aftermarket tea.

We went to browns as a family after a very long time. And this time we had went the food was exceptional. To also note, the service provided by Gabi was brilliant, he was the most welcoming staff and was very attentive! :)

Such a lovely experience! The service was warm and welcoming, and the cosy environment with high ceilings and unique glass windows made it even more special. The music selection was perfect, adding to the relaxing atmosphere. I had afternoon tea, which was beautifully presented and tasted just as good as it looked. Possibly the best service I’ve ever had, felt like I was valued. Food was also excellent aswell as the general vibe of the place.

A very nice restaurant, spectacular decor and a very cosy atmosphere, since we arrived the staff treated us very well, very friendly, the waitress who served us, Anna, very nice and very friendly. The food was 10 out of 10. Everything arrived on time, and we did not miss anything. They had a varied menu, quite a few dishes that looked very good, definitely recommended. Excited for the next time we come.

Perfect evening meal at Browns in Bristol. Starting from arrival, being acknowledged within seconds was a great start compared to some other places. There was plenty of choice on the menu, and everything we chose was cooked to perfection. The drinks were excellent too. Service was consistently attentive without feeling rushed. All in all it couldn't have been better.

Excellent venue. Very friendly and helpful staff. I must come more often than for birthdays. I love the architecture of this 1867 Venetian gothic ex museum / library; great decor on top. Amazing for breakfast, wide choice. Fast service. This year we came on Christmas Day for lunch. From the Hors d'oevres, through the starters, Turkey, dessert, coffee, mince pies, coffee & truffles - the best Christmas Dinner out I have ever had. The staff were amazing, very attentive; all the while being really busy. Thank you.

This is not my first time going to browns, every time I go back to Bristol we go to Browns. The week of December 13th, my Husband and I went 5 times. Sometimes just drinks and small plates and other times lunch and dinner. I love this place because the food is amazing but most of all, everyone who works there are so welcoming and friendly. This is a pretty special place.

The festive menu was delicious, as were the cocktails. The service and attention from our servers was great, especially as we were a large group of 40. Emelia and Anna were both really helpful, especially when we had a few last minute dropouts and changes to the booking. Thank you!

Very poor afternoon tea experience. Firstly the website advertises it as £20 but when we got there it was £27.99. Tiny portions for the savoury food. About one mouthful of two different sandwiches, and then you get two cocktail sausages in bacon. The “lobster roll” is basically a spoon of lemon flavoured mayonnaise. All the food tasted like it’d been sat out for ages - the bread was stale and scones had the texture of a burnt biscuit. Also felt like they didn’t put enough tea leaves in my pot because despite leaving it to brew, it would not become golden and was very watery. I will say though the service was great. Staff very friendly and helpful, but the food was absolutely not worth the money. Would definitely give it a miss if you’re considering it. Just disappointed because I brought a friend here I haven’t seen in ages who was visiting Bristol and wish I chose somewhere else.

Came here with my grandmother and my siblings, such a fun time. The staff were the friendliest in Bristol and the chefs served us the loveliest meal I’ve never had !! If you haven’t been you are missing out big time!!!

We had a lovely Birthday lunch today. Anna was our server and she was so lovely, very attentive from the minute we arrived , until we left . She had a really nice way with her , even noticed our table was wobbly and sorted it . Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you Anna .
