Not having been here before 3 of us called in for coffee and toast in the morning to check it out as a possible lunch venue later in the day. Assuming that the extras with the toast would be supplied separately for the customer to apply one asked if they could have honey and jam, and another marmite and jam (so they could have one savoury slice and one sweet). After an absolute age it eventually turned up with two slices of toast with both honey AND jam mixed together and pre-spread on both slices and (yep, you guessed it) 2 slices of toast spread with marmite and jam mixed together! Who in their right mind would do that?? When we said we had assumed that it would come separately (or at least 1 Marmite toast and 1 jam slice) the server seemed dumbstruck. We asked for it to be replaced, which took getting on for 20 minutes before two tiny pieces of replacement slices of toast appeared, this time one marmite and one jam, which we had to pay another £3.30 for! Shocking! Needless to say we didn't go back for lunch and know not to go back in the future. Such a shame.

I was in Bristol for a few days and a friend of mine showed this place casually. And I loved it so much I went back every day during my trip. I had the celeriac apple soup, which was excellent, and the next day I had the soup and the meze platter type of thing with various little cold food like hummus, olives, pickles etc. everything was very fresh and tasty... And very reasonably priced... Very good flat white too!! I'd go there every day if I lived in Bristol!!

Have previously attended a make your own silver ring course here in previous years. Walk past early as looking for a bite to eat at lunch time and remembered their cafe. So pleased I did, fabulous fabulous soup with amazing flavours served with scrumptious bread. It provides a welcome calm haven to the busy Hospital and park street, lovely and enviting atmosphere with friendly staff. The filter coffee could have been a little warmer, but I should have said at the time. Definitely shall be my go to timeout place on future trips into Bristol city centre area.

I can't believe it's been so long since I came to the Folk House! How could I have left it as long as this? Anyway we came here for lunch today and were delighted by the extreme tastiness of the toasted cheese sandwiches on home-baked bread with a dish of olives and a separate dish of minute cucumbers (can't recall the proper name). Also had a pot of tea for two which was really refreshing! The whole place is very trendy and "with-it"! We certainly felt with it today! The Folk House is well-known for running hands-on courses including pottery, creative writing, photography and all manner of interests. A really great community place right in the middle of Park Street. There is inside and outdoor seating. The inner courtyard is really charming!

Just tried and failed to have lunch here. Last time I was here, a couple of weeks ago, I needed to send the food back because it was cold. I thought I'd give it another try and ordered the Hot Bowl. It looked tasty when it arrived but, again, it was barely warm. So I took it back to the counter and asked for it to be heated up. A few minutes later, it came back as cold as it had been before. This killed off any desire I had for the dish so I took it back to the counter again and asked for a refund. At no time did any member of staff apologise for spoiling a customer's lunch. It obviously didn't occur to them that someone should. They did, though, give the impression that doing the refund was an unwelcome inconvenience. I'm writing this in Pinkmans, two minutes walk away on the same street, having been served by a very friendly person, eating a delicious hot meal that cost the same as the Folk House one. Pinkmans got it right first time.

I love this place and have been eating here for years, and I really hope it does well, but my recent trips have been very disappointing. In particular, the portions - which have never been huge - are now ridiculously small. So much so that I needed to buy lunch again to make up for it. One meal I had was ridiculously salty, another took nearly an hour to arrive with no warning when I ordered. The staff and the space are lovely but I wouldn't currently recommend it as a place to eat.

I was at the Folk House for the Bristol Folk Festival and bought drinks here. The queue was long and the drinks were very expensive. £4.40 for a pint of beer, £4.40 for a bottle of Wyld wood cider, £2 for a can of Cawston Press rhubarb soft drink. I don't know when the prices in the photos were taken, but they are not the prices they charged.

Used to think this was a pleasant location for lunch and was certainly enjoyable.... not anymore now it has new staff and manager. Ordered the main dish only to receive a proportion of what was listed... should of had chick pea salad and a raita... neither of which came, when questioned the staff told us that it was yesterday’s menu and that they didn’t have any... strange as I watched one of the members of staff write the menu out before displaying it, even after a conversation with the chef it was served incorrectly. Watched other similar dishes being served and they were not what we received which to be honest lacked flavour.... three meals purchased and all dissatisfied.

I’ve often eaten here. The food is good but I’ve veer understood why the servings are so modest. An example would be half a medium size bowl of soup.the soup is nearly always wonderful. It has been pointed out that the customers are often of retirement age and the portions might be fine if ones appetite is modest. So if you are looking for nice food in small quantities then this is the place for you.
