Was there with a group of 16 pax. Cafe staff couldn't be more helpful, juggling our orders and food with aplomb. Ordered black americano with extra shot. No extra charge like most other places. Venue clean and tidy, toilets were immaculate. Highly recommended.

This is not a House for public visitation. Just a cafe with open area. Googled for somewhere to visit locally- stately home and this place cropped up. A few years ago the cafe was heaving with dog owners, and dogs, out for an early morning walk - approx 7.30 - and diverting to the cafe for a good coffee and a bacon roll. The smell of bacon was impossible to ignore. The door never closed properly and that was the only drawback, getting frozen from draughts in the winter. Now, the cafe opens after the early morning business has gone elsewhere (Blaise cafe is packed and sells bacon butties etc), and the selection of food, cakes etc, is fine but limited. Open earlier, and restore the bacon and cooked breakfasts and the crowds will return. The cafe has great potential, the coffee is still very good. The service was very pleasant a week or so ago...but...bring back the bacon!

Great coffee here and the toasted sandwiches and cakes on offer are very tasty and well presented. A flat white is £3.20 & a large iced latte £3.80, so pricing is about right. The staff are polite and friendly and they operate a table service, so will bring your food out to your table ... lots of outdoor tables now. They are I believe, working on extending the kitchen in order to offer more meals, but for now, what they are offering is excellent. It's a cafe well known for dog walkers and they cater well for pooches too ... lots of water bowls outside and dog treats can be purchased in the cafe too. Grapevine says there will eventually be a restaurant at KWH. Can't wait!

I come up here all the time. It's a five minute walk from where I live. It's idea for walking, running, bringing the dog, has some amazing views from different angles of the river Avon. There is a cafe in the basement, with toilets. It's also a wedding venue. Parking outside the house, and the shire side of the grounds by shire golf course. It's also possible now to walk across the iron bridge which is now open and this eventually leads to Blaise castle. There's a lot to explore.

I really want this place to succeed because it’s a great stop for coffee on a dog walk from Blaise. Sadly the coffee was weak and luke warm and there was a sorry selection of processed looking cakes. The dog treats are being sold for 20p each which is a first for me!!! Please spend a bit more on decent coffee and good cakes / pasties from local bakeries and offer complimentary treats for our furry friends! 🙏

Having read mixed reviews we weren't sure what to expect so stopped for coffee and cake rather than lunch, we were however pleasantly surprised by what we found. The coffee was hot and smooth and the selection of cakes was extensive. We opted for raspberry blonde and blueberry bakewell, both of which were excellent. Other customers were being served various lunch dishes of sandwiches and Toasties which looked great and appeared to be enjoyed. From today's evidence I would happily plan to have lunch here next time.

One of my favourite places in Bristol for a quiet walk. Popular with dog walkers but gets far less traffic than nearby Blaise Castle and unlike there the parking is free. Many of the paths are uneven and muddy so good walking shoes/boots are a good idea. There is a nice little coffee shop at the side of the house (I've been to a few and it is stunning). Events are held in the house but it's not generally open to the public.

The building was built between 1712 and 1719, and was designed by Sir John Vanbrugh for the lawyer and politician Edward Southwell on the site of an earlier Tudor house. It was then remodelled in 1763–1768 by Robert Mylne and again between 1845 and 1850 by Thomas Hopper. The Kings Weston estate possesses one of the largest collections of buildings designed by Sir John Vanbrugh in the UK. Whilst the house and the majority of the estate's buildings are still standing, others have been demolished or have been heavily altered. Bristol is the only UK city outside London that possess buildings designed by Vanbrugh. A significant architectural feature is the grouping of all the chimneys into a massive arcade. There is no admission charge for the grounds of the Estate. The grounds are open at all times. Kings Weston House is not open to the public, except for special events.(see web-site).

The new Sir John Vanburgh Cafe is fine, but coffee is not cheap and the pain au chocolat that we had was very dry and unpleasant. It was previously Morgan's Cafe which did great sausage rolls. Slight concern as though not priced, many selections of cakes varying in size and I assume price. Coffee arrived, waitress had no idea which was the latte or dirty chai latte (they both looked the same). Coffee was warm rather than hot. On the way out decided to purchase two cold drinks. Coke for my friend and a bottle of smoothie that was in the fridge. Couldn’t sell the smoothie as all were out of date! There needs to be a big shake up with staff for me to go there again

Nice to return to great destination, lovely refurbished cafe, but not so great to be charged extra for skimmed milk without being advised. I queried the price at point of debit card scan with 2 employees who said that skimmed milk is classed as an alternative milk. I pointed out that alternative milk is oat, soya, etc.., but the staff shrugged. I feel like I have been taken for a mug being charged extra for skimmed milk, especially as skimmed milk retails the same as whole and semi-skimmed. It leaves a sour taste if you get my meaning. I know it is only 10p extra, and I like to support small businesses, but it's the whole handling of the matter that disappoints. I wish them well though and am sure that not many customers will even notice. I did have a very good flat white coffee, however.

On a warm clear day it is bliss to sit on the terrace enjoying some food and looking out across the Severn to Wales. Sadly the cafe is closed pending refurbishment and seems to be taking a lot longer than expected to reopen. There are toilets outside in a portacabin at the moment. The grounds are owned and managed by the council, and there's a volunteer workforce who do bits of management (King's Weston Action Group), but this is a large estate managed by a city council so don't expect the kind of neatness or attention to detail you'd see if it was privately owned. You can walk from here to Blaise estate, and on from there to the River Severn via the route of the river Trym.

I titled my review as hidden gem because first I have never heard of it before although my two children went to Bristol university and second because the turn to it was very hidden that can easily be missed as it wasn’t well sign posted. My husband and I visited this house today on a glorious sunny day in June as our son’s wedding will take place there next week. We drove from Newport just 25 minutes drive. We wanted to navigate the area before the big day but we were disappointed as the house itself was closed, they open Monday to Friday only, while the park and the cafe are open to public all week. There’s ample parking which is free. The ground is stunningly green and gigantic. Magnificent view looking over Bristol Channel. The park was quite busy with families and dogs. Lots of people brought their picnic. The cafe is ok, smell inside but nice big terrace with beautiful view in the sun. I brought a big Earl Grey tea pot with two pieces of cake, lemon and Biscoff. The menu had breakfast and toasties and sandwiches. We enjoyed the walk . I would definitely go back. I fully recommend you visit it and try the cafe.

I have been trying to make enquiries about the use and availability of the house all week. To date I have made 35+ calls and contacted them via email and Instagram. I received one Email from their wedding co-ordinator saying she would respond in a week as she was isolating (Not ill, isolating) meaning she COULD work but chose not to. You dont want an important event held here as they clearly can't even manage an email or their own SM accounts. Shocking level of incompetence.

We booked the Alma Tavern for our company Christmas party, for 21 people. It was by far the best food and venue we've held our party at in the last few years. Great tasting food and generous portions - it was clear the chef and kitchen put lots of thought and effort into the dishes which went beyond the usual Christmas fare you get in lots of places, where it's just about bums on seats. The staff were super-helpful too, both in getting our event booked and organised and were brilliant on the night too - friendly, happy and helpful. It's was a nice touch that the team made the effort to call our names when serving the dishes. We'll definitely be back for more events in the future!
