Harbour House in Bristol, City of

This was our first ever family visit to Bristol, and we searched high and low for somewhere nice to eat, Harbour house was exceptional! Everything was perfect, staff were really lovely people and the food was delicious. Couldn't fault the service we received, a perfect end to a fantastic day out.

We came for dinner as a family and were left a bit disappointed by the quality of the food. The menu looked very appealing but half the food that came out was really below average. The butternut squash was only half cooked, the crab cakes barely tasted of crab, the seafood linguine was dry and had a poor selection of seafood. The lamb, fish and chips and club sandwich were pretty good though. The service was good, staff were very attentive. Would have been 5 stars but for the food.

Booked a table for a group of friends. The restaurant was busy but service was friendly and very attentive. The food was excellent; everyone commented on the wonderful quality and generous portion sizes. The restaurant was also very accommodating to dish modifications - this is always greatly appreciated when dining with a group who have individual dietary preferences. The mussels were fresh and the broth so delicious. The pork chop was simply excellent!

I booked here for our work Christmas lunch at the beginning of December. The booking process and communication form the start was excellent and made it less stressful for me to organise; they also kindly printed our place name cards and drinks vouchers (which they personalised!). The service on the day was fantastic; considering there were 3-4 large Christmas tables, we did not have a delay on food, the staff were friendly and provided great service, and the food itself was delicious. Special thanks to Justyna!

We had a great experience planning a Christmas party for a large group. Justyna and the team couldn’t do enough for us, they were so flexible and understanding. The booking process is really good. On the day Ben was a great host and the food was hot and came without delay. The restaurant looked lovely and there was a good atmosphere. Good range of options and everything went down well. Went for lunch, and I had the roast beef sandwich. It came with a dipping gravy and chips. Had the pineapple carpaccio with coconut sorbet as dessert. Both courses were very good and tasty!

Tried on a Sunday evening for the first time, lovely setting and fantastic vibe inside restaurant. Staff were very friendly and generally amazing. The fact the place was still packed at 8:30 speaks volumes. Started off with crab fishcakes which were lovely. Shared a roast sharing platter for main. The pork and lamb were the best of the 4 meats but again all excellent. Platter comes with al the extras one would expect as seen In photos. Would strongly recommend visiting if your thinking about it 👌

Headed to this place with a party of 8 wonderful people. Couldn’t fault anything. I had the lamb shoulder roast with a refreshing Rhubarb drink, finished with an Affogato, which was delicious!

The bar has a lovely, cozy vibe, and it was very nicely decorated for Christmas when i went. I didn't go to the restaurant portion but I have heard good things and plan to go soon.

Arranged a family Xmas get together on a Sunday tea time, this is the 4/5th time i've eaten here, and it's always been really good, the place itself is lovely inside, always a nice chilled atmosphere in there, staff are friendly and attentive, and the food is very good at prices that don't break the bank. Big thumbs up.

Booked a table for a Sunday roast yesterday, we arrived early so grabbed a quick pint in the bar. The sharing roast for 2 is incredible, brilliant value for money with warm and friendly service all round. The extra gravy and cauliflower cheese included in the meal was brilliant. My partner and I both had desserts, the Bakewell tart and sticky toffee pudding which were really lovely. The sticky toffee had a super light sponge and a great sauce. Would definitely recommend and looking forward to visiting next time I’m in Bristol! 👌

Came here for work christmas meal, starter was not nice but main and dessert were good. One of the waitresses was very rude and abrupt, and when someone on our table hesitated as to whether a drink that was brought over was actually theirs due to a mix up the waitress very sternly said "WELL IS IT YOURS OR NOT?" and spent the whole evening slamming plates onto tables etc. She might have just been having a bad day but you just cannot speak to customers in that way.

Very poor quality of food. Seems they don't have a chef. Food is being prepared by immature people who know nothing about food n taste. Response to suggestions was so negative as if they don't want customers to come back. Best to avoid going this place.not worth of time n money.

Amazing Christmas Meal… often when cooking for big groups the standards drop… not this year. Came here for our work Christmas lunch 2 years in a row. Last year I’d probably have given 4 stars. Good but not amazing. However I was super impressed this year. Great food, really attentive services and a great way to start the festivities.

Vieiras para empezar, Lidl venden más grandes que sabían bien, pero eran de tamaño micro. La caña de cordero para la presentación del plato principal era genial, pero el plato estaba frío. Las partes de papa no cocidas estaban crudas. El cordero estaba seco. No es un gran evento. ¿Regresaría? No.

We had a lovely evening here on Saturday night - Harbour House came highly recommended and didn't disappoint! Fabulous atmosphere and food, and flawless, friendly and attentive service. We will definitely return.

Was a bit put off with rats playing on the balcony next to us, I hate rats. Roast was ok for pub standard. Sharing option is odd with having cold side plates to eat from. Tiny pots of Luke warm gravy, roast potatoes shameful. When going out for roast it needs to be better than can do at home. If it was about £12 I think I’d felt better about it. I wish I’d said yes to trying the wine before committing to it. Eager staff clearing away the table as I was still eating. Maybe as per other reviews of Harbour House it was no doubt another one of their off days.

Aparte de la persona que nos trajo las bebidas, ni una sonrisa de ninguna de las cosas que nos sirvió. La misma señora en la recepción también nos sirvió. Una vez que despejó los cubiertos y las servilletas, trajo cubiertos limpios y los puso en la mesa, sin servilleta. ¿Cómo es posible pensar en alguien que trabaja en un restaurante? La segunda vez trae una servilleta para dos postres. Realmente necesitas hacer algún esfuerzo para ser tan malo en este trabajo. Mi pregunta es ¿por qué esta señora trabaja allí, si no para sentir que los comensales que pagan no son bienvenidos? Pero luego la audacia de añadir un 12. 5 %. La comida era buena, pero el precio de los entrantes eran extorsiones. dos pasteles de cangrejo £ 11 , delgado y tan pequeño. Lo que llamaron focaccia no es absolutamente focaccia, son dos rebanadas de pan al precio de £ 5. Los mejillones tienen un precio casi igual que la trucha o el besugo. I have visited Harbour House 5 times in the last few months which says all you need to know. The food is delicious - I particularly loved the tuna nicoise over summer, and now the surf and turf is beautiful. I am coeliac and the gluten free options are delicious, and this has been handled professionally and with absolutely no issues. It is a lovely venue both inside and on the terrace. The thing that has really stood out is the service - the waiting staff are awesome, friendly and attentive. I recommended it to my colleague and we are now coming to Harbour House for our work Christmas party as well!

What a fantastic place! Food was delicious with generous portions, cosy with great service. Will be my goto place for sunday roast in Bristol! Had roast pork and lamb shank. Both absolutely delicious. For dessert sticky toffee pudding. Couldn’t get enough of it!

October 2024 update: better than ever. Do try carpachio of beef, fish and chips, and sticky toffee pudding. Great food and service ideally situated on the Harbourside overlooking the yard on which the replica of John Cabots ship 'the Matthew' was built. Large and family freindly, perfect for lunch or supper. Large lounge for business meetings, too.

Loved our visit to Harbour House, great setting and nice decor. Friendly service and enjoyed our food. The waitresses offered to prioritise the pizza we ordered for our little boy which was much appreciated. The Sea Bass was very good and portions generous. Would go back.

Harbour House made it incredibly easy to have a large booking for 12 guests, and were flexible when we had a last-minute drop-out. Service was good and accommodating of someone running 20 mins late, food was good value and the Virgin Bloody Mary was particularly good with a strong kick. The cauliflower cheese is genuinely brilliant and was beloved by all!

Great service, really enjoyed the Fish and Chips and also my partner loved the Pork Chop! Would definitely return to view the outdoor terrace when the weather gets warmer!

Lovely food, people and location

Visited while staying in Bristol for a concert. We did not have a reservation but they were very accommodating, food was excellent and service was very good. A few reviews mention overpriced but you get what you pay for, quality ingredients. Have paid the same price for total rubbish, would highly recommend.

We chose here to celebrate my daughter’s engagement!. It was the perfect evening from start to finish. The staff were lovely and welcoming. The atmosphere was spot on. I can’t eat gluten or dairy and my needs were totally covered, including a delicious dessert. The others also enjoyed their food from the house menu. The drinks menu didn’t disappoint and the wine paired well with our meal. I can highly recommend. Would love to visit in the daytime to see the views.

Loved our first visit to Harbour House. The food was lovely. Especially the seafood. I can recommend the oysters, the beer battered cod and the mussels. All were fresh, well cooked and well finished. Certainly for someone visiting Bristol and looking for good seafood, this is your place.

Went here for Sunday roast at daughters recommendation, and I wasn't disappointed. Lovely surroundings and atmosphere, prompt service from great waiting staff. Roast dinner was excellent, beautifully seasoned, plentiful and tasty. Our party of 3 had different options of pork belly, lamb and chicken supreme all of which were super tasty. I'm often disappointed when I have a great meal then it's let down by the desserts but not here - absolutely scrumptious. Will definitely return to enjoy the views of the river on a sunnier day and have another great meal

Service was great but the food was fairly standard. I would have expected more quality for the price. I ordered fishcakes and it was one small fishcake with a tiny bit of spinach and a small egg for £17.

I live locally and brought my friends here for dinner. I was really impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. In fact, the service was perhaps the best I’ve experienced in a long time. Thankyou Robin!

Fantastic Thursday evening at Harbour House. You sometimes forget how sincere friendly service can turn a great dining experience to an excellent one. The food was delicious, we had oysters and I recommend the fish cake. The service was exceptional, Alex gave some fantastic wine recommendations and was jovial and entertaining throughout. Prefect balance of attentiveness without being over bearing. We sat outside in late August, a bit chilly but there were heaters and blankets. If we are in Bristol again we will be eating here

Very good food, we ate well, a "Sunday roast". But deplorable service, waitress (blonde with piercings) absolutely unprofessional towards French customers. We refused to pay a £15 tip. Will not come back.

I booked a table for 10 people to this restaurant to see my friends together. Everything was excellent and we all enjoyed it. There is a variety of different prices and types of food so everyone could enjoy the dinner. I would like to address a special thanks to the waitress who could speak french because she helped us to order. I would recommend at 100% to go.

it was nice environment. a strange thing happened that we entered and asked for a table and they were like we are fully booked (even though the place was half empty) and on our way out we asked someone else and then they sat us (3) on a table. the first guy said that there was not enough staff to attend us (?) but there were like 4/5 waiters around. food was nice and waiters were very accommodating.

Popped in for a late lunch with the in-laws. Staff were GREAT. Fast, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is also good, we were sat outside overlooking the harbourside (a nice feature) and the main restaurant is well designed with good decor. Food was solid too, 2 of our party had fish and chips, whilst I had a burger, all good portions and tasty. All in all a good experience. Thanks.

A great location overlooking the Bristol harbor. Service was attentive and upbeat. Fish and chips were excellent. Grilled Plaice seemed to be a bit under done.

Are with a large group for a birthday party. We had preordered and the food came relatively quick but the portion sizes were very small. Roast cauliflower dish tasted more like it had been boiled so not as good flavour.

Great views and ambience. Food was excellent, and locally sourced. Our dog enjoyed the location too.

Ordered pasta with prawns and mussels. Unfortunately there was no single prawn in it. After asking the service they admitted that prawns are out of stock. Besides the portions are very small. Pretty Poor.

Absolutely loved our dinner at Harbour House! We booked a table for the outside terrace and it truly had the most lovely atmosphere. The restaurant is right on the river so you're able to watch all the boaters and rowers going by as you enjoy your food. As a vegetarian I was impressed. Though the menu only offers two entreés for vegetarians, the grilled aubergine absolutely tasted like a dish based around the vegetable–not like a meat dish where they just put a vegetable in! (Fellow veggies, you know what I mean). Would recommend and would return. <3

Purtroppo l'esperienza ci è stata rovinata dalle cameriere... abbiamo chiesto consiglio alla cameriera che ci ha preso l'ordine su quale carne fosse la migliore da provare per il nostro Sunday Roast; come si è soliti fare il tutto il mondo, si chiedono consigli ai camerieri su quali siano i piatti del giorno o i pezzi forti. La cameriera ci ha risposto, ma dopo abbiamo visto che ci prendeva in giro e ripeteva quello che le avevamo chiesto a un'altra cameriera, quella di etnia asiatica. E questa è stata la prima cosa irrispettosa che abbiamo provato. Secondo, ci hanno preso l'ordine sbagliato, volevamo due coca cole piccole, ma ce le hanno portate grandi. Anche qui, le abbiamo viste parlare di noi. Siamo rimaste sconvolte dalla maleducazione delle due cameriere. Anche io sono stata cameriera e so come bisogna comportarsi in un ristorante, quindi nel nostro comportamento non c'era nulla di anomalo, ma nel loro si! Sono maleducate e ci hanno rovinato l'esperienza. Il cibo era ottimo - ci tornerei se le cameriere fossero più educate!

Was caught by the great food smells. The indoor decor was nice and you also can sit outside by the river. Charlie gave a great service. He was very focused, detailed and patient, also very engaged in his job and gave customers all the attention. I ordered lamb cutlet, the vegetable got sautéed in a nice way, the mashed potato was ok, the lamb was quite tender but a little bit over burnt so that have quite big bitter flavor. Overall was a good value. By the way, they maintained toilet very tidy and clean with good smell. The restaurant’s management team is strong.👍

Beautiful menu which we were quite excited for, but the food didn't match up and was underwhelming for the high price point. They add 12.5% service charge to your bill which should not be normalised.

Great customer service when booking a dog friendly restaurant as well as a good coeliac food menu. And to add to my feedback, my guests enjoyed they dinner very much, all three courses.

The menu appealed whilst passing by so stopped in for our last lunch whilst visiting Bristol. Lovely table on the terrace overlooking the river. Lots to choose from on the menu. We decided on oysters from Jersey to start (can’t get decent oysters in the Northeast!) and we were delighted. So fresh, briny, and delicious. I was convinced I would have seafood but changed to the club sandwich at the last minute. A club sandwich can be banal or a delight…this was a delight with delicious chicken mixed with egg and bacon. Flavourful and done perfectly. The staff were attentive without being overbearing. I had the Pinot Grigio which was perfect and the cider from Cornwall made my partner very happy. I would definitely go back!!

It was such an experience to be at Harbour house coming from the busy streets of London, being welcomed and seated to perfection and services was so welcoming. Such a positive atmosphere. Shoutout to the manager on duty he made me feel satisfied and fullied .

Lovely Sunday Roast, which includes cauliflower cheese!Nice choice of desserts. 3 small crackers for the cheese, which was a bit mingy but we asked for more, no problem.House wine was expensive compared to our local eateries. Be aware 12.5% service is added to the bill. It was a bit dark and dingy as sadly was a very wet and grey day so we couldn't take advantage of the lovely terrace overlooking the water. If you are able to sit outside and it is a bit cold they have blankets.

Lobster was well prepared and delicious, sitting outside at riverside was delighted.

No atmosphere, staff cold and unwelcoming. Had the fish and chips.Very disappointed.Oven chips,and fish was just OK not nice batter.Tarter sauce awful.Expensive for mediocre food at best.I don't thing Jay would approve .

Yet another restaurant that thinks putting grana padano on a supposedly vegetarian option is acceptable. Grana padano is not vegetarian. Yes, I asked for vegetarian cheese instead, what turned up looked very much like they had ignored that request and the waiter didn't come with the plate and confirm what it was. On the other hand my main course was tasty, roasted aubergine with chickpea and mozzarella. I'd have probably added an order for chips on the side if the waiter had been looking for any extra requests but he wasn't. Add another properly vegetarian starter, remove the rennet based cheese from the asparagus, add a vegetarian burger with a no cheese or vegan cheese option for vegans and you'll have a good menu for everyone.

We were a group of 5 and we all loved it. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Will definitely return.

The food was lovely but the service really let it down. The host was dismissive and unfriendly and when we asked the host if we could move table we were told no, despite the tables being free for the duration of our stay. And being seated on couches for a dinner reservation, not a proper dining table. It took a while for someone to come and take our drinks order, to the point where we had to ask a waiter if we could order drinks after waiting for over 20 minutes. Furthermore, I noted on the reservation that it was a booking for my birthday which was not acknowledged by any of the staff. And when I mentioned it to the staff member, she said “yes I can see it on the booking” and neither proceeded to acknowledge my birthday or even say happy birthday. The staff proceeded to go into a corner and began to point and laugh at me and my friend from the till which made us very uncomfortable. So we left asked for the bill and left early. I was almost in tears. Needless to say, it was an unsavoury experience which was highly disappointing.

Excellent quality food , lovely terrace looking over the river and the indoor space is atmospheric. We visited on a sunny Sunday and the covered terrace was lovely and relaxed. Service was efficient and friendly without being over bearing. Food was lovely. We had a lovely turkey Sunday lunch wrapped in bacon and stuffing Extra gravy on tap and lovely Side of cauliflower included (often most places charge extra for this) Generous helpings aswell All in all a lovely relaxing Sunday experience

Work friends were in town and I was asked to choose a place for dinner: without hesitation I thought of Harbour House. The quality of the food is always excellent; the staff were - as ever - charming, friendly, and attentive; the prices are remarkably good given the overall quality of each element of the dining experience. Thank you to the team for, once again, proving why it's always my first thought when I want to please or impress.

Delicious food! I ordered beef medallions with fries, lettuce and delicious mushroom sauce! +15/10! Partner ordered Lam! With a delicious puree where you could smell the garlic! Perfect composition! The desserts are also delicious - carpaccio with pineapple and chili and ice cream - a very nice composition! And in the cup there was mousse with rhubarb and pistachios? :) In addition, very nice service :)! *unfortunately I don't remember all the names from the menu but I think I helped in choosing :)

Beautiful place and nice view. The terrace is very nice and will be wonderful in summer however they inly serve drinks out at the terrace and this was a little weird as I ordered coffe and a cake, but they refused saying no food is allowed outside.

It was my first visit and i was impressed. There was a wide range of dishes available and the prices are reasonable. The food was delicious, beautifully cooked, using quality ingredients. Service was friendly and efficient.

Had incredible service from the 3 staff workings and all of the good my party ordered was amazing. I had the roasted cod over risotto and it was perfect. Great flavors.

A lovely old warehouse next to the harbour which has been converted into a bar and restaurant. The food was excellent and the atmosphere fun and exciting. We were a group of 12 which was catered for without any issue. Other, smaller tables were having a good time too!

This place was great. Food, atmosphere, and view were great but the service was exceptional.

Lovely location and atmosphere. Service was slow and the food was terrible. The seafood linguine was bland, mushy and inedible. The sticky toffee pudding was dry abd tasted like it was out of a packet. Very disappointing amd we left hungry

So best roast in Bristol! (And further a field). 3 meat roast was perfect. Staff were very polite, efficient, and friendly. I am looking forward to my next visit
