The setting is beautiful, welcome is very friendly but not intrusive, and the food - all of it locally produced, much from the farm next door - is exceptional. Nothing to criticize here.

We stayed at The Stanley Arms the second week in October, 2023. Paul is an extremely accommodating host. The setting is stunning! It is surrounded by pristine sheep farmland and moors. It is away from busy areas, yet simple drives on gorgeous country roads will access necessities in ~ 15 minutes. A full English breakfast is served with bangers made at the farm supplied by meat from the farm.

Without a doubt this was the best experience I've ever had with a hotel! Paul and Emma were incredibly friendly, nothing was too much trouble, and their dogs were amazing! The room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The location is so beautiful. And the food was out of this world, all fresh and cooked to perfection. Absolutely amazing. I'd highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay. We will be back many times! Thank you for our wonderful stay, we really appreciate it. Liam & Claire

stumbled upon this place while camping in the bank holiday. We'll we ended up camping on the grounds, the food was amazing, fresh and very well priced. Local beer which tasted good mixed in with the regular pints on tap and the people oh so so friendly and welcoming. We will be going again probably to stay in a room next time as the pub is a local pub and deserves its custom and tourism during to the mammoth effort the land land and man provides. We had breakfast too which was fresh lush and totally filling.... look out for the little dog bear what a character.... Thanks guys we loved our visit hope everything works out and see you soon hopefully!! the Rugeley wild camping gang

Wow what a wonderful stay we had at The Stanley Arms. Paul & Emma the Landlords are fantastic so welcoming and just genuine lovely people. The food was absolutely delicious I can highly recommend the belly pork, not to mention the gravy! Bar was lively and fun and the room was great, lovely comfy bed with quality bedding, everything you could need and super clean. Our dog, Daisy, was also made to feel very welcome and she had a great stay! Just one complaint really… we couldn’t stay two nights as they were booked up! Thanks for a great stay Paul & Emma we will definitely be back.

Now owned by a working farming family who, as well as the day job, run the Stanley Arms Hotel. They are welcoming and friendly and very interesting to talk with. Have lots of upcoming projects, including a farm area accessible for disabled children and opening a micro brewery. I don't know how they fit it all in a 24-hour period! Oh, and they have an upcoming tv series following their day to day lives. A real homely atmosphere and rooms are comfortable and cosy. Great menu with dishes from farm to plate, all freshly prepared, generous portions, and very reasonably priced. Cooked breakfast certainly sets you up for the day. Quiet, secluded, and set in the glorious Peak District, it was a real gem. Xx

In my experience and opinion I think that Pail and Emma have done a fantastic job in the short time they have been in. Excellent in fact. I also think the way as a family unit they have been mislead and treated by ADMIRAL the pub company who own the real estate is an absolute disgrace. Typical ruthless corporate suites with no serious idea how to run a decent honest business, nor a clue as to what “decency and Integrity is all about !!

Having stayed at the hotel on two previous occasions. We decided to eat there on Sunday evening, what a mistake. Cold plates, over cooked veg and meat with very little taste or seasoning. Nice crumble and custard spolt by the fact that they had tried to be trendy by putting each into ridiculously small recepticles. Overcharged at the end of the meal.

After my husband decided to take the 'scenic' way home after visiting relatives in Hull and after stopping a few times we ended up in the the middle of the Peak District and decided it was too late and dark to drive home. We searched for hotels in the area but the majority were full (forgot it was half term!). My husband then found the Stanley Arms Inn nr Macclesfield, and what a find. We got the last room, I think someone had cancelled last minute due to covid, lucky us. The pub was delightful, a real fire burning in a traditional bar. The room was lovely, clean and cosy. There was even some free Sherry... Nice touch. We had an evening meal of tomato soup, followed by steak and ale pie, chips and veg. Beautifully cooked, as was the full English breakfast the next day. It is in the middle of nowhere, but there is plenty to do in the area within a 30mins drive and the views are spectacular. Highly recommended, and we hope to visit, for longer, in the near future.

We were a party of six middle aged men on motorbikes who regularly go on trips together for a long weekend. We couldn’t have been more pleased with The Stanley Arms Hotel as our base. Some of the things that made this trip stand out for us were THE Most comfy beds and luxurious bedding, great location, superb friendly and fun staff, atmospheric surroundings, well kept beer, lots of parking and nicely kept outdoor space. Caroline and Adrian, and the rest of the team were integral to us enjoying it so much. We found all the team straightforward, engaged, kind, helpful and always available. The Sherry and chocolates were a nice touch in each room. And we stuffed ourselves stupid with way too much lovely food. The pork belly was a hit and as for those homemade pies and chips…! We’re looking forward to going back.

Not long home from our trip the 3 shires head. We booked to stay in the Stanley arms hotel and oh my goodness we were not disappointed! All of the staff were an absolute delight. Dinner - we had the famous "bottom of the oven" lamb and it was just next level, delicious, massive and super succulent. Followed by wine and a few gins in the lovely country pub. Locals are there to chat if you want to but they keep themselves to themselves if you don't. Our room was massive, had everything we could possibly need and even a little evening sherry nightcap! Then breakfast included in the morning, pretty much anything you want could be whipped up, the lady of the house does all the cooking and she likes to pop in personally to check all is well which we found a lovely touch! My only criticism was maybe a little background music at breakfast just so I didn't feel I had to whisper or listen to others conversations. But other than that, a delightful stay and we would definitely be back. Big shout out to Jane who absolutely made our visit. What a diamond. X

We went for a lovely long walk in the peak district and all I wanted was a pint and some chips, the restaurant refused to serve me any chips, despite us having a table, the restaurant being not in the slightest bit busy, and 3 other tables were being served food. Saying that we needed to make a booking online to get food even though when we called online to book they said they were fully booked and busy! We were there and it was not busy at all. The kitchen was clearly open and we had already bought drinks from them, I don't see how refusing to serve us a plate of chips would benefit their business whatsoever, in fact surely they would want us to spend more money there! Very disappointed and dissatisfied with the service and this silly policy

The Stanley Arms is said to be the highest Inn in England and it is set in the most glorious countryside. We stayed for 2 nights bed and breakfast and were joined by family who live near for dinner both evenings. Meals were tasty, generous and well priced. We enjoyed Sunday roast with sticky toffee pudding, toffee sauce and ice cream for dessert (2 spoons as very generous). I had the famous bottom of the oven lamb the next evening and the others enjoyed sea bass or belly pork. We had the sticky toffee pudding with two spoons again as so delicious. Our room was well equipped, cosy, spotless and bed was so comfortable we sleep like logs in the peaceful countryside. We were surrounded by fields with curious cows and sheep. Great walks and only 7 miles from Buxton, Forest Gin distillery 2 minutes walk but check opening times. Really friendly Inn, felt so looked after, will definitely be back.

We used to regularly walk to Miola for a coffee and can’t believe how it has changed. Outside is a complete dump with tatty pieces of furniture up for sale at ridiculous prices . The elephant and giraffe which have been there for years are still for sale at a ridiculous price. Toilet was filthy with no toilet paper. Chose to sit outside as had children with us and tables were tatty and dirty. The food was overpriced and mediocre. Bacon sandwich with virtually no bacon. Peanut butter on toast which was slimy and greasy. Children took one look and didn’t touch it and can’t say I blamed them. It is so sad as Miola used to be such a lovely place to go to. Can only assume that with Holmes Chapel closing its on the cards that Sandbach will close as well. So disappointing and what a waste of money !
