Friendly staff and good value meals

We chose the plough to celebrate a 90th birthday party for a group of 9. The staff made the occasion extra special and nothing was to much trouble. The food was excellent and service was prompt. The atmosphere was delightful. We will be coming back for the 100th birthday party.

Remember when you used to go for a pub for a drink? Well the Plough need to either improve their pouring skills or make it cheaper. Almost £5 for a pint of Guinness poured incorrectly is becoming a trend. The bar tender poured almost a full pint, should be just above the lettering. £10 for a double rum and coke, with flat coke...looks like I'm going to have to start moaning and returning drinks.

Unfortunately wasnt a good experience . It was my Mums birthday the table we were on was like a walkway non stop people walking past our table . Was too busy as a wedding was on so it was not relaxing . I think if a wedding is on take no other bookings ,as its not a pleasant experience for the other customers as staff are too busy to provide a good service . The Sunday lunch wasnt good Potatoes were horrible . Left half of it didnt enjoy and was on a cold plate. Such a shame as the Manager/Owner was lovely . Very disappointed .

Had the pleasure of an overnight stay as was travelling for work room lovely and clean comfortable bed with fresh linen hot water had an evening meal in the bar food was great and then in the morning easy checkout before breakfast again excellent staff warm and friendly this is somewhere I can highly recommend and would definitely stay here again if I was ever working in the area again a very pleasant experience all round

Came to my friend's wedding here a year ago and it's such a lovely place and great for weddings or anything really I highly recommend it lovely vibe atmosphere people and great food and drink doesn't get much better than the plough

It's was a Christmas gathering, so I don't get a true reflection of it's normal environment so it's wrong to judge, it was ok nice staff, nice place well presented food.

On arrival the welcome was warm, respectful and professional. The ambience is comforting and friendly. Service is excellent matched with quality food.

You know what? I've been driving past here for over 20 year's and not once have I been in, till now .. wow. It felt high-end, clean and spacious, and I loved the style of the building it had outside parking beer garden etc. the service was excellent staff were nice and friendly, and the food was above my expectations 👌 so il be definitely going back..

13 of us were here last night for a friends Xmas meal. We all had options from the Xmas menu and were hugely impressed with the quality of the food and service. Considering the place was packed they still managed to give us a stunning food presentation,absolute quality.

Met some friends here for a catch up meal. Despite there being a mid week wedding on. The food was amazing as was the service. A nice log burner was a plus. We had fish pie, game pie and two steaks. Absolutely spot on. Thank you.

I don't know how I can put into words how amazing the plough were on our wedding day. We booked our wedding 2 years before and went to the plough to have food/ meetings in the build up to the wedding. Every single one of the staff is professional, hard working and friendly. The plough made the wedding planning so enjoyable and easy. They were always at the end of the phone or an email if we ever needed anything. On the day itself, I was absolutely blown away by how amazing every was. The day was ran so smoothly by both the wedding planners. They came to see the bridal party in the morning and introduced themselves and helped in any way they could. Every course of food was amazing (100% recommend the sticky toffee pudding). I have a severe nut allergy and I loved the way they served the allergen meals- informing the individual that there meal was allergen free (which adds so much relief to that individual). The venue is beautiful and all there recommended suppliers (black lab events, L&J suit hire, Paperlace invites, Darren Gilbert DJ) were amazing too. The plough is such a special venue as it gives you the most incredible and beautiful day but without a massive price tag. We loved everything about our day and the plough will always have a special place with us (and we will definitely be back for lunch in the pub). Thank you to everyone who made our day so special. On a final note for those who stay over and have breakfast the next day, it feels like a whole new celebration where you get to sit down with your family and friends and chat about the day prior (and the food is also once again AMAZING). If you want a venue that will care about your wedding just as much as you do and will support you throughout the process (and also be completely beautiful) then the plough is for you

I stayed in for the night in room number 14, which is upstairs. I was awake around 4 am due to a noise which I think is coming from a tumble dryer or a washing machine downstairs. This is very annoying apart from that the hotel rooms are cozy and clean. The food is excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

Apart from excellent food and service the management of the Plough every year host a free Christmas dinner for the pensioners who are resident in Eaton Village. They go above and beyond expectations in everything they do .., that also includes their wedding venue where 18 months ago myself and my wife held our reception!

Lovely food and super service today. Dog friendly, provided water for the dog without asking. Didn't have to get the attention of the staff at all during our visit. The pub was busy but the standard of the service and food remained high.

I've been here previously for a wedding and it was amazing in every way. However, went today at 11, told I could have drinks (tea, coffee), and couldn't get served until 12pm with a manager/front of house who was rude, snappy, and ruined any good thoughts I had about the place. Told us our table was reserved from 12.30, when a server told us it was 1pm... extremely poor. Pains me to say this after a previously good experience.

Wow, what a find! One of the top places I have been to for Sunday Lunch. Excellent meal, fantastic Yorkshire puddings, everything cooked to perfection. Coupled with excellent service, certainly a place to visit again when in the area.

Beautiful wedding venue, and lovely staff who were very attentive. Food was great. Only a couple of hiccups on the day; cleaning staff weren’t made aware that the bridal suite was needed on our day so we got to it slightly late - but it didn’t put us back much! Overall, lovely venue, great price, excellent location!

Nice room. No HOT water for shower !!! Went down to reception to be told a plumber has been called. The fact I questioned the lack of hot water seemed an inconvenience!

Just had a lovely evening in my local pub/restaurant/wedding venue the guys behind the bar were brilliant they were aware of everything that was going on around the bar very attentive and the people who were looking after the dinners and wedding guests I would give ten out of ten nothing phased them so if you are looking for a night out I would highly recommend it

Stayed with family who live locally and walked down on hot September evening. They’ve always told us about how good this place is. I couldn’t fault anything about this place. Menu was exceptional in terms of the range and some really good choices for all. The service was excellent with the staff really friendly and professional. Delivery was prompt and it was a very busy night by all accounts. The food was stunning. We were on a way back from a week in Scotland back to Cornwall and my other half said the food was the best she’d eaten all week. I can’t wait to come back. Fantastic!

Dinner here this evening. Very good indeed. Well designed dishes on a varied menu. Very adequate wine list. Friendly and efficient service. Our third visit and always pleased.

A thoroughly pleasant experience at the Plough last night, from the warm welcome on our arrival, to the delicious food we were served. I visit Cheshire every few months and I try different places to eat each time. This is one place I'll be returning to. The menu's varied and the food, delicious (though perhaps the choice of main courses felt a little autumnal/wintry on a sunny evening in August?). The staff were polite, attentive and thoughtful and gave a great first impression. Thoroughly recommended.

We attended a wedding here and could not fault the service and friendliness of the staff and the food was brilliant. We will definitely be returning just for a meal as the food coming out the kitchen from the normal menu looked amazing.

Highly recommend , our son & partner’s wedding yesterday 26/07/ 2024 was a most perfect day, food / wedding barn etc . Service was perfect too. Accommodation was also beautiful, rooms large / very very clean & comfortable, lovely large bed , I can’t praise it enough, have been many times for meals, very tasty breakfast always delicious. We had our wedding at the Plough in June and we had the most perfect day. From the very first day we booked with them the staff were so friendly, helpful, attentive and professional. I was in contact with them several times throughout the year from booking and they were always so helpful. On our big day, we couldn't have asked for a better team of lovely people to run our day smoothly and it was the most perfect day we could have wished for. The venue is absolutely stunning, the day was run perfectly with no hitches, and the food was absolutely delicious. The staff were also so helpful to my husband and the groomsmen with setting up the venue in the morning and they all said they were so amazing they were at helping get everything set up smoothly. All our guests commented on how perfectly the day went, how amazing the staff were and how lovely the food was! Thank you so much to the team at the Plough for making our dream wedding day a reality.

The location is so peaceful and out the way. We thought it was just going to be a small local with pub grub and were we surprised. We entered in the pub part and though it was lovely then were led through to the extension which was stunning. Then the food came and it was utterly superb. It was better than expected and great value for money. The staff were also lovely and the service was fantastic. It was so good we went back as a family of 6 two nights later again. If we are ever down that way again we would defo go back.

Fish pie - mostly tasteless potato - very dry -little or no fish - awful Apparently it’s very popular- I asked for a refund.

Visited for dinner with a friend and as always the food was fantastic, visited later in the week for a wedding reception and was really impressed with the set up and service- can see why its so popular. Really liked how they allowed my friend to double a starter so it could serve as a main, thanks and keep it up!

Attended for my daughters wedding, accommodation was spacious clean and comfortable plenty of room for bridesmaids and bride to get ready. Staff attentive and accommodating at all times nothing was too much trouble. Wedding went smoothly with the help of staff making the ceremony perfect, venue was gorgeous. Food was fresh tasty and perfect temperature every guest praised the food. Breakfast in the conservatory was delicious a great room to dine with other guests from the wedding. Every staff member we met from booking the wedding to leaving the day after was friendly and professional and a credit to the Plough

We had our wedding at The Plough in May and it was perfect. The barn was such a special and intimate venue for our day. The food was great as it always is at The Plough and the accommodation was comfortable and spotless. The team were brilliant and made sure that everything ran smoothly and couldn't be more helpful, a special thank you to Paige and Rosie, who were both amazing and took care of everything on the day! Friendly, personal and seamless. We couldn't have wished for a better place to have our big day, we wish we could do it all again!

Stayed overnight for a wedding. Room was great with parking right at the door. Hotel and bar were lovely, decent prices for drinks. Staff were very friendly and service was good. Fabulous wedding venue.

We stayed here for one night after a wedding. The venue and food were lovely. The bedroom was clean and adequate although the window latch was broken but felt safe. The only downside was breakfast finished at 0930 and rooms to be vacated by 1030. I thought this was a bit early after guests had been drinking and partying up until 12 midnight the night before. I understand the restaurants had to be open for other guests but the room prices don't compensate for the early departure.

What a fabulous restaurant. We have dined here on many occasions and the food never disappoints. I had the trio of fish which was delicious. Other members of the family had a traditional Sunday roast. This was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We had desserts which were delicious. We shall certainly return.

Travelling back to Macclesfield, on a road I haven’t used before, we chanced upon this inn. Although they had a wedding party, a table in the inn was available and my wife and I enjoyed a leisurely lunch. Excellent service and food promoted me to book a table for dinner in a couple of weeks.

Called in for late lunch- was last here 7yrs ago for friends wedding. Pleasant, attentive, wrlcoming & professional staff. Nice surroundings in the new conservatory. Really enjoyed the food- humus to share followed by seafood ravioli/steak pie. Will definitely return.

We came for lunch today with our u3a group members, 21 in all. We were seated in the Orangery around nice round tables of 8. The service was amazing, and the servers very friendly. The food was excellent all round. They catered very well for us, considering we all had different choices of meals, which were preordered. They communicated very well in the weeks before our booking as well. Would definitely recommend.

It was ok. It's expensive for the buffet for what you got £12.50 a head but it is what it is. Would go again .

Must be time for another review, called in recently and have eaten several times since my last one. It's also good to dilute any poor reviews by those crazies who think there should be music played or there were too many staff! Always a friendly welcome and attention despite the fact that more than likely there will be a wedding on. The Reverend James is still doing well and I had a superb fish and chips on my previous visit.

Having just moved to the area, we went for a short walk to The Plough, we received such a warm welcome on entering with my puppy in tow. We were offered options of where we wanted to sit. Our server Ben was really friendly and took time to chat to tell me briefly about the local area. Food was really lovely, but the wine won me over lol myself and my daughter sampled the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. My puppy was even offered water and biscuits (great touch) was a little blonde when it came to the bill (blaming the wine in the afternoon 🤪) as wasnt sure if it included tip but Ben again was very polite and explained so very deserving of his tip... Looking forward to spending more time in my new local and having a meal on Boxing day 😊 Exceptional service, great ambience and for me personally spotless facilities. Well done to all the team.

We went to the Plough for the second year for our works Christmas party. Once again the food was excellent and despite there being over 200 guests that night it was well presented, tasty and hot and there was a good choice. The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive and observant. Some of our party had only ordered a 2 course meal rather than the 3 so when they were sat without their starter or dessert the staff were very quick to question what they were waiting for. As it was very busy and despite booking a few months we had to sit in the bar area this time rather than in the main disco area. This worked well as we were able to talk and socialize but still had the opportunity to join in with the disco if the mood took us. There was a very festive, happy feel throughout the whole venue. Well done The Plough. We will be back.

Christmas celebration lunch with ex-colleagues which was excellent. Great menu choices, well prepared and promptly served despite being very busy. Good price point too. I'll be going back.

A very poor Christmas menu experience with local friends. I chose a Cod and Prawn coquette for a starter, which was a hard scotch egg shell with potato and perhaps a couple of prawns inside and very dry, Beef Bourguinon for mains which did not resemble Beef Bourguignon in the slightest. There was slow cooked beef of a sorts with no red wine gravy or sauce and a trace of thinly sliced tinned mushrooms. Dessert was a stodgy 1970s style trifle and not enjoyable at all. I felt very disappointed and even more so as it was a festive get together and pricey !!

We are lucky enough to have been able to call The Plough our local for the past 2 years. From the warm welcome from the staff ( Chris , Nathan , Joe, Tia and Ben to name a few ) , all staff consistently go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating and for that alone the Plough stands out ! But the food … oh my …. We have worked our way though most of the menu and not had one dish that has been less that fantastic. The fish and chips are amazing …. however the Sunday dinner is beyond divine ! Even when they are super busy with weddings the attention to detail to pub diners is top notch ! Cannot recommend highly enough .

Overnight stay in this wonderful country pub. Friendly accommodating staff a beautiful sized bedroom, a wonderful meal and great breakfast! Absolutely superb!

Very nice place I stayed whilst working near and found this on booking . Com Rooms are away from the actuel pub and rooms are nicely done nothing not to like. I had my evening meal in restaurant and excellent food but my one complaint was so many staff no one really knew what the other was doing then another lady member of staff turned up it all went to pot. Two young waitresses talking about everything in front of customers! I was annoyed to receive a phone call the day I departed asking why I hadn’t paid my bill for my room or food.. couldn’t believe it as my room was paid on arrival and my food paid for at the time with receipt in my purse. I paid cash for my 2 drinks they apologised but even so I find this very poor. Yes I would return but only if room price was favourable

From walking through the door to leaving, the whole staff were brilliant, so helpful ! Especially Rob and Chris, then the food, delicious, exceptional , we had lunch and dinner, the fish and chips are as good as I've ever had, and dinner was as good, Bravo to the whole staff

We booked the “flash sale” offer of which was dinner, B&B at a cost of £139. The young lady that took our food and drinks order at 8pm was lovely, but the evening meal was rushed, we’d finished our starter and the mains were brought out straight away, we’d had all of our food by 9pm. The pub lacked atmosphere in my opinion and needed some background music, and at 22.50 we were told that we needed to vacate the pub by 23.10 as they were locking up. My review is a mixed bag because the food was great, and the room was lovely but it was like we were an inconvenience to some of the staff towards 11pm. I went to the toilet and overheard a member of staff that was leaning on the bar looking at customers say “just drink your beer up why don’t you”. Based on my experience on the night, I would not recommend.

This place NEVER fails. The food is ALWAYS superb and the service matches too. We're always welcomed warmly, looked after attentively and left satisfied. 😃

We stayed in September while visiting friends in the area. We really enjoyed our stay. Room was lovely, much larger than expected from other hotel stays. Very comfortable bed. Very clean. Hospitality tray was lovely addition. We had supper, joined by our friends and the...
