Called in for late lunch- was last here 7yrs ago for friends wedding. Pleasant, attentive, wrlcoming & professional staff. Nice surroundings in the new conservatory. Really enjoyed the food- humus to share followed by seafood ravioli/steak pie. Will definitely return.

We came for lunch today with our u3a group members, 21 in all. We were seated in the Orangery around nice round tables of 8. The service was amazing, and the servers very friendly. The food was excellent all round. They catered very well for us, considering we all had different choices of meals, which were preordered. They communicated very well in the weeks before our booking as well. Would definitely recommend.

We photographed a wedding there and it is a stunning venue for a small wedding. The staff are friendly and helpful which makes the wedding day special and run smoothly

It was ok. It's expensive for the buffet for what you got £12.50 a head but it is what it is. Would go again .

Must be time for another review, called in recently and have eaten several times since my last one. It's also good to dilute any poor reviews by those crazies who think there should be music played or there were too many staff! Always a friendly welcome and attention despite the fact that more than likely there will be a wedding on. The Reverend James is still doing well and I had a superb fish and chips on my previous visit.

Having just moved to the area, we went for a short walk to The Plough, we received such a warm welcome on entering with my puppy in tow. We were offered options of where we wanted to sit. Our server Ben was really friendly and took time to chat to tell me briefly about the local area. Food was really lovely, but the wine won me over lol myself and my daughter sampled the New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Grigio. My puppy was even offered water and biscuits (great touch) was a little blonde when it came to the bill (blaming the wine in the afternoon 🤪) as wasnt sure if it included tip but Ben again was very polite and explained so very deserving of his tip... Looking forward to spending more time in my new local and having a meal on Boxing day 😊 Exceptional service, great ambience and for me personally spotless facilities. Well done to all the team.

We went to the Plough for the second year for our works Christmas party. Once again the food was excellent and despite there being over 200 guests that night it was well presented, tasty and hot and there was a good choice. The service was excellent, the staff were very attentive and observant. Some of our party had only ordered a 2 course meal rather than the 3 so when they were sat without their starter or dessert the staff were very quick to question what they were waiting for. As it was very busy and despite booking a few months we had to sit in the bar area this time rather than in the main disco area. This worked well as we were able to talk and socialize but still had the opportunity to join in with the disco if the mood took us. There was a very festive, happy feel throughout the whole venue. Well done The Plough. We will be back.

Christmas celebration lunch with ex-colleagues which was excellent. Great menu choices, well prepared and promptly served despite being very busy. Good price point too. I'll be going back.

A very poor Christmas menu experience with local friends. I chose a Cod and Prawn coquette for a starter, which was a hard scotch egg shell with potato and perhaps a couple of prawns inside and very dry, Beef Bourguinon for mains which did not resemble Beef Bourguignon in the slightest. There was slow cooked beef of a sorts with no red wine gravy or sauce and a trace of thinly sliced tinned mushrooms. Dessert was a stodgy 1970s style trifle and not enjoyable at all. I felt very disappointed and even more so as it was a festive get together and pricey !!

We are lucky enough to have been able to call The Plough our local for the past 2 years. From the warm welcome from the staff ( Chris , Nathan , Joe, Tia and Ben to name a few ) , all staff consistently go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating and for that alone the Plough stands out ! But the food … oh my …. We have worked our way though most of the menu and not had one dish that has been less that fantastic. The fish and chips are amazing …. however the Sunday dinner is beyond divine ! Even when they are super busy with weddings the attention to detail to pub diners is top notch ! Cannot recommend highly enough .

Overnight stay in this wonderful country pub. Friendly accommodating staff a beautiful sized bedroom, a wonderful meal and great breakfast! Absolutely superb!

Very nice place I stayed whilst working near and found this on booking . Com Rooms are away from the actuel pub and rooms are nicely done nothing not to like. I had my evening meal in restaurant and excellent food but my one complaint was so many staff no one really knew what the other was doing then another lady member of staff turned up it all went to pot. Two young waitresses talking about everything in front of customers! I was annoyed to receive a phone call the day I departed asking why I hadn’t paid my bill for my room or food.. couldn’t believe it as my room was paid on arrival and my food paid for at the time with receipt in my purse. I paid cash for my 2 drinks they apologised but even so I find this very poor. Yes I would return but only if room price was favourable

We booked the “flash sale” offer of which was dinner, B&B at a cost of £139. The young lady that took our food and drinks order at 8pm was lovely, but the evening meal was rushed, we’d finished our starter and the mains were brought out straight away, we’d had all of our food by 9pm. The pub lacked atmosphere in my opinion and needed some background music, and at 22.50 we were told that we needed to vacate the pub by 23.10 as they were locking up. My review is a mixed bag because the food was great, and the room was lovely but it was like we were an inconvenience to some of the staff towards 11pm. I went to the toilet and overheard a member of staff that was leaning on the bar looking at customers say “just drink your beer up why don’t you”. Based on my experience on the night, I would not recommend.

From walking through the door to leaving, the whole staff were brilliant, so helpful ! Especially Rob and Chris, then the food, delicious, exceptional , we had lunch and dinner, the fish and chips are as good as I've ever had, and dinner was as good, Bravo to the whole staff

We have eaten at the Plough before after attending a wedding here and have had nothing but perfection! The most effortless Sunday, after doing a long mid morning walk none of us could be bothered cooking when we got home, so decided to order a takeaway roast from The Plough after drooling over the roast beef pictures last weekend! Everything was very simple, we rang, ordered, booked a collection slot, paid and collected our order which was brought to our car bang on time! We ordered two roasts, one veggie one pork and both were absolutely lovely! Everything was still piping hot when we got back home, and really nicely cooked. The gravy was absolutely out of this world and the goats cheese and beetroot wellington was SO tasty! We had the fire on and ate out of the takeaway tons so had zero cleaning up to do afterwards.. apart from our red wine glasses! We will definitely be having at LEAST one takeaway from here before they reopen, well done the Plough!

What a gorgeous cozy pub with an excellent selection of reasonably priced wines. The staff were super friendly and very accommodating.

Second time we have visited here and it’s was just as brilliant. The crab cakes starter was absolutely wonderful. The beef in our Thai curry was so tender and delicious. We ended up finishing our drinks in the outside tented area and it felt like a Christmas market, with heaters to keep us warm. Staff were lovely and attentive. Will definitely come back and try the bratwurst!!

This place is perfectStaff were lovely! Menu is classic pub food done well, clearly very high quality ingredients used to make classic dishes. The environment is warm, country and cosy. Would definitely go back next time we head over this way on our dog walk.

Never visited the plough before but heard some good reviews. Went yesterday (Sunday 11th October) and had the 2 coarse Sunday lunch. The meal was exceptional, never ate a Sunday roast like it. All cooked to perfection and really good portion sizes. Will definitely be returning and spreading the word about one of the best roasts I’ve ever had.

We just cant get enough of The Plough everytime we to it amazes us. We brought the family here after the lockdown was lifted and we were allowed to have people visit. The service was exceptional all the staff make you feel so welcome. As always the pub was packed but everyone had there masks on and all the covid guildlines were in place. Cant wait to come back

We have visited twice since the end of Lockdown and both times enjoyed an excellent meal, accompanied by great, friendly service.

Is a beautiful building both inside and out, very cosy and comfortable. The maître d' was very welcoming on arrival but looking back must have gone home not long after we arrived as staff standards slipped not long after. We made a large food and drink order during the evening and after only 2 hours at the table on a Friday night we were offered the bill and card machine several times after we planned to order more. Especially as our friends were staying at the accomodation we had hoped to stay a little longer with them but felt chased out as the staff wanted to close up at 2245. A gripe with the staff attitude yes but it's not unique to the plough. The table service in the UK is rather lacking with uninterested, unmotivated staff that are looking to close up early as the restaurant owners probably aren't on site. It's a shame and I wish that waitering was more a profession in this country rather than an in-between job for pocket money.

Had a lovely lunch at the Plough yesterday. Sat in the garden which was lovely, plenty of space between the tables some of which had parasols. The staff were great and although they were busy still managed to attend to everyone. The food was lovely and there was plenty of choice and we are going to go back again soon.

We met up here for a meal with some friends on a busy Saturday night. The service was amazing right from walking through the door, the food was lovely I had the salmon en croute and my bf had steak and ale pie. The portions were huge!! We thoroughly enjoyed it, will definitely be back!

Came here with my partner for a Sunday roast, first meal out after lockdown. I had chicken and he had beef, both were cooked perfectly and the gravy was particularly delicious. Was very happy to see that new government guidelines were being carefully followed without it affecting the quality of the food or service l, will definitely be returning.

We came here last friday night with friends who were visiting the area. The pub was nice and busy and had a really good atmosphere. The food again was exceptional and service was brilliant. The staff always go above and beyond to keep you happy and are all so polite. It's such a pleasure to be able to visit the plough regularly. Our friends can't wait to visit again.

We were a large party n Sunday celebrating two elderly relatives birthdays. When we sat down two people couldn’t get out because the chairs were so close together and it made It very difficult for another table as well.The menu is extensive and good and the portions huge - my fish and chips were amazing! The roasts were very large - we asked for extra gravy. Firstly two small jugs came and by the time the rest came people were finished.My main complaint was sauces. With fish and chips you normally get tartare sauce on the plates. By the time I managed to attract a waitress’s attention I was half finished. Nobody else was asked so everybody asked separately so it was a waste of your waiters time and effort as well!

We dine here on a regular basis and have never been disappointed. All three of us had the soup, which was delightful, and all three of us had the lamb hotpot. It was hot and seasoned as usual, however, on this rare occasion it was just a bit dryer than usual, a bit more gravy and it would have been perfect. Excellent service as normal.

Called for an mid week early evening meal, we had been before but not for a while. We only had main meals. Mine was from the specials menu, it was a sea food medley of Bass, Cod and Prawn with Dauphinois potatoes veg and a lovely sauce. It was delicious. Service was good and staff friendly and helpful. Wow wow wow.We had lunch today (22-02-2020). The meal was the best. My husband had a starter I was saving space for my pudding lol. He said the starter was very tasty and very hot. He had the black pudding tart. It looked well presented.I had the scampi and my husband had the Thai curry with chicken. They again was presented and very hot. The puddings tasted amazing.
