The Stags Head in Chichester

What a great sunday lunch! It was so nice to have a really fresh, hot and tasty carvery available at this welcoming pub. Refreshing to see how the trays were quickly replenished and the meat was delicious. If you have tasty meat, good roasties and an excellent yorkshire pudding it is a win win in my book! The cauliflower cheese was really good too, as were all the other vegetables. We had a nice bottle of red with it which was ever so reasonably priced, and a fab pudding . Really professional host and hostess, attentive but discreet. Can't wait to return, thank you .

My partner and I went for the Thai night, what can I say..... great food, made fresh on site by owner and chef, Stuart, hospitality and service, second to none, staff really friendly, made to feel very welcome, excellent customer service, very reasonably price, and all you can eat, not limit, well definitely go again !

Stunningly friendly and efficient hosts and staff. Clientele also lovely and friendly. We went for Sunday lunch (carvery) and had a great time and enjoyed the fantastic food. All joints were cooked to perfection and the veg was clearly fresh and was delicious. We had puddings too which were great - look out for the home made ones. The beer was perfect too. Our dog was also made very welcome and loved by all. Book early to avoid disappointment!

Went in with friends to catch up, was greeted and chatted to before sitting down and talking to my friends for a bit. Having a very deep conversation, when the landlord comes over and asks if we're getting anything. We reply with that we were chatting but were going to order soon. He replied that it was a public house and we needed to buy something, inquiring if we were just there to sit and chat. When we responded with the fact that two of us were driving and the other didn't have ID (all under 25); that we might get a pint of lemonade and were told a pint of lemonade wasn't really going to cut it. The whole interaction was very uncomfortable and we decided to leave. As we walked out the door we heard him complaining loudly to other customers about the fact that we hadn't bought anything. Overall an uncomfortable and slightly scary experience.

was welcomed in a lovely way only for it to be dismissed after sitting and chatting for 10 minutes and rudely asked if we were going to get a drink as it is a public house and after responding that me and a friend are driving but will order a lemonade got told that a lemonade won’t cut it. Incredibly rude behaviour from the landlord and was treated impolitely.

I went in on my own to have their carvery. I was so pleased because everything was hot and tasty! Both Anita and Stuart, landlady and landlord, made sure that I was comfortable and that the food was ok. The food was delicious!! The atmosphere was great. Wow - HIGHLY RECOMMEND Friendly landlord and lady and locals as soon as walked in. Attended to our every need and more - attentive and interested in customers needs and wants and us as people. Great great food - home cooked food in a wonderful ambience and setting and open fire. Dogs welcomed and we will definitely be going again. There are few and far between pubs like this and Stuart and Anita have really captured the true spirits of what a village pub should be 🫶🏻 Thank you

Really lovely welcome. Local pub so we've been meaning to try it. It's quite basic, cutlery, setting etc. but it is what it is, ie great value, great quality just not particularly polished or high end - not a criticism but a super Sunday lunch at a very reasonable price. Thank you!

Just home after an amazing meal at The Stags Head. Service was personable and friendly, the food was absolutely incredible. Huge lamb chop off the specials menu. Also the smoothest Guinness in West Sussex. Highly recommend. Added a pic but it does not do it justice !

We've only lived in the area for just over two years and it was the first visit to the Stags Head. Very impressed, lovely Sunday lunch, great deserts and a warm welcoming environment from friendly staff. Highly recommended! P.S The beer was well kept and tasted great too!

Christmas Eve breakfast with a few friends to end the year, best breakfast and service we’ve had all year, will definitely be back.

A Christmas meal for a veteran's group of 10. Pate or soup fo a starter, choice of beef, turkey or butternut squash and beetroot Wellington then Christmas pudding or chocolate sponge for dessert. Portions were very generous and everything was delicious. Well looked after by the hosts and their team.

Omg what can I say the dinner was amazing even tho I don’t eat starters I wish I had ordered one. The main course Roast Turkey was lovely moist, vegetables lovely and more than enough. Pudding didn’t even touch the side. All in all lovely staff, lovely atmosphere and amazing food.

Popped in for lunch today on the off chance. We hadn't booked and there was no vegetarian dish left. Absolutely lovely oldie worldie pub come restaurant very polite and welcoming staff and the food is top notch, gets very busy round lunch hours especially if going for the carvery so best to book in advance. Had breakfast last weekend and all week wanted another as it was so nice so went back today and it did not disappoint, even allowed me to take a cheeky extra breakfast home with me 🥰 Stuart & Anita are wonderful, lovely and welcoming even when rushed, and all the staff i have so far met have been so friendly and helpful. Coming from Chichester in which you now know no one due to all the old places closed and the local community feeling banished years ago for a larger rushed, megacity London feel, makes you want to just up and move here as everyone makes you feel so welcome and just a lovely place to be socially or for something to eat. First time going to this pub, we went for a Sunday carvery. The food was nice and it was good quality veg and local meats. The landlord and lady couldn't have been any nicer and made a lovely fuss over my 1 year old and were very happy to give him a little extra attention - which always goes down well! We arrived last minute today for a roast. The staff were fantastic, friendly and sorted us out a table right away. We weren’t kept waiting long at all. Mainly excellent. Food (home cooked pies and a chili) was really really good and the desserts were all excellent too. Fab and friendly service. Only downer was football on the tv (or the tv at all :-( but understand why they have it.
