Stopped late for an alfresco lunch. Absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. We both had an open steak and onion sandwich served with gremolata and fries. Perfectly cooked and seasoned steak, presented with complimentary sides, elevated the dish to gastronomic highs. Even the fries were seasoned with salt pepper and freshly chopped chives. The strips of crunchy vegetables, some pickled, gave a lovely freshness that tantalised the tastebuds and the mustard gremolata the perfect balance to pull everything on the dish together. Well done Chef..

Not a very wide menu and quite limited choices . Very expensive even choosing first course for lunch which together with a salad worked out at £18.50 & £17.50 each. Although very well presented not exactly a substantial meal with ice cream to follow, at £5 for 2 scoops. On checking the prices online there was a lunch menu which we were not even offered. Very disappointed and will not be visiting again. ⁷

Under new ownership, long-time customer, poorly treated. Waited ages for food (1h 40 minutes), expressed concerns and waitress walked away. Our children's food was never entered and so their food came after ours and had to eat separately. We were checked on once during this long wait where we ordered more drinks, which we did not receive, we did not receive our bread and olives to have with our drinks, we did not have glasses for the jug of water they brought. Lamb was pricey and overcooked. Owner was extremely rude -- told us he'd have our Google review taken down. We were offered nothing for our terrible experience, not even an apology -- instead owner was argumentative and condescending. Another waitress, did step in to support us and she was very kind and did all she could but she was working very hard without much support from any of the other staff -- it was uncomfortable to watch her work so hard alone -- but thank you to her for all she did! Today was very hot and busy -- I hope the owner was flustered from the conditions and reflects on his treatment of us and does not treat others the same. We used to love it here but would not return under this ownership and do not recommend.

Please read the recent reviews before visiting. I think its very hit or miss these days. The service was extremely slow and when we gave our feedback our waitress walked away. The owner was abrasive and condescending and accused us of lying about how long it took to get our food (1h 40 m). Even when the adults received their food the kids meal's were forgotten and they had to eat separately. For the price, the timing and service should be amazing. If they are slow they should communicate with you. We were not attended to during this long wait, except once, where we ordered drinks that never came. Some of the food was tasty, but the lamb was overcooked and tough. We have loved this pub for years and are so disappointed by this experience. We absolutely do not recommend visiting under the current ownership. An acknowledgement of our experience and an apology goes a long way.

Several visits over the last few years and the service by one particular female is always so rude snd dismissive, the younger members of staff are always friendly and welcoming. Not sure if she's the owner/landlady but it's like she couldn't care less if you're there or not and I certainly will never be there again or recommend. 2 coffees today, she clocked us in the garden but after waiting ages I had to go in, she could've advised if that was required, v inhospitable at the bar. Price for 2 coffees £8.50 and she failed to suggest we had a scone with it as there was a deal on, read it on the blackboard as we left...unbelievable, such poor service.

The menu looked excellent. We chose two roast lamb and two roast pork. The meal arrived with an enormous Yorkshire pudding and a pile of roast potatoes surrounded by a pool of gravy, same for lamb and pork. The lamb was tender as was the pork but sadly the pork was cut in a chunk and a slice and owing to the gravy no crackling. The vegetables arrived but the cabbage wasn't cut and we had to pull bits off by hand. There was no apple sauce and no mint sauce but trying to catch the waiter to get some was impossible even though it wasn't that busy. We had high hopes of making it a regular stop but sadly we won't be going again.

Disappointing experience at The Earl of March! We were shocked by the exorbitant prices, especially for families. The apple juice was a staggering £4.20 for a tiny glass, not even a premium brand. I can buy the same juice from the corner shop just up the road for 99p. It's outrageous to come out for a meal together with children and be paying nearly £10 on just two tiny glasses of cheap apple juice, alcohol was expensive compared to other pubs nearby too. The food was also overpriced and portioned strangely, which only added to our disappointment. Unless they rethink their pricing strategy, we won't be returning to this restaurant anytime soon.

With its deceptively ordinary look from the outside, this place is bright, nicely decorated and roomy on the inside. This was our first time here and we were immediately welcomed by the friendly staff and directed to our table with plenty of room for our large dog to settle by us. There was a varied but uncomplicated menu to suit most palates and you could tell immediately this was going to be something special. We both enjoyed all three well-presented courses having a full description of the ingredients by the staff and finding out about the locally sourced and foraged fresh food. We both agreed we hadn’t had food as good as this in a long while and can’t wait to come back again.

There’s probably a reason why this restaurant was nearly empty on a Saturday night. We eat out in Chichester a lot and in comparison The Earl of March is expensive by all standards and the service disappointing. When we replied “no thank you” to a dessert we were served with the bill immediately. Even though we expressed surprise at being given the bill, by saying it wasn’t for us, the waitress stood over us with the card machine expecting immediate payment without giving us time to look at the total. We might have liked another drink but we weren’t offered one. In and out of the restaurant in just over the hour. The most expensive night over in a flash, we won’t be returning.

Service: Both the front and rear of staff were extremely professional and friendly. Food: The fish and chips were noteworthy, due to their size and quality. This was genuinely the largest battered cod we had ever seen! The chicken pie special dish was also fantastic. Value for Money: The standard of food and portion size mean that you get great value for money.

Lovely pub, location, expensive we were happy to pay for good food and service. We were very disappointed and the experience an expensive let down. We chose a late sitting for our Sunday Roast at 2.30pm, there lies the issue. The starter Apple, Stilton, Walnut salad was delicious and outstanding. The cucumber bottles of tap water on the table a nice touch. When ordering the Roast Lamb, we specifically asked if it was served pink, we were told it was. The lamb served to us was not sliced, minimal, clearly the left over end cut overcooked and fatty. I had no option but to return the meal. Was told there was no Lamb left, only Beef or Pork. I was happy to have any of the above however to my surprise I was told it was the same lamb meat I returned served on a different plate with the meat chucks cut up. I was given a steak knife told to cut through underneath to get to the pink meat? ! Unfortunately some of the lamb was just too fatty and inedible. The selection of seasonal vegetables were great, however £25 for a plate of vegetables steep. This could have been handled proactively the opportunity for staff to put right, this didn’t happen, I did not consider it acceptable to serve what were clearly the last scraps left. As a gesture of goodwill a glass of wine was deducted off our bill and we were asked to give them another try in the future. Maybe we were unlucky, we won’t be rushing back anytime soon. Too many other good establishments that would not dream of serving up the poor quality of Roast lunch we experienced today. Shame as could have been so good otherwise.

My partner went out with her mum and friend and I was appauled to hear that her Mum was borderline called a liar as they were told by front of house that they didn't have a reservation which was not true as they made the call a day in advance and was confirmed. My partner has a soya allergy and whom ever took the order said they would check with the chef to make sure she could have certain dishes. They apparently checked. However, dish came out with Edamame beans... Which are literally Soya. Training is definitely needed after such a stupid mistake as that. The saving grace for the service was a gentleman called Jamie who I was told was excellent. I didn't attend, thankfully, I don't intend to.

My partner and I went for dinner at the Earl of March last night. The food and service were outstanding, leagues ahead of a majority of pubs and restaurants in the area which tend to be slightly underwhelming. The menu itself was exciting with lots of seasonal ingredients and the dishes did not disappoint they were (consistently) so delicious and impressive with so many different elements, textures and flavours throughout the whole meal. I very rarely complain as I know firsthand how hard it is to run a restaurant. I’m even more reluctant to post this as a longstanding customer of the Earl of March. But I have been horrified by the approach taken by the new management which seemingly places short-term profit above their customers’ health and wellbeing. I had to cancel a recent evening booking for two people as my friend had tested positive with Covid that very morning. Despite cancelling the booking at 7am by phone, email and the online booking system, I was charged £30. I took this up with the manager - including coming in with proof of the positive test as my phone call had been met with disbelief - but was told that there was nothing that could be done. It is my duty to warn everyone that this establishment seems to prefer customers with Covid to honour their bookings, and risk spreading the virus to others, than allow them to cancel with no charge. As if this wasn’t enough, I have never been treated as rudely by a restaurant’s management. Dismissive, accusatory and downright offensive…so much for the season of goodwill! Suffice to say that I will not be returning and strongly suggest that others avoid unless you wish to support high-handed, rude profiteers who show no care for their customers.

This food has a fine dining feel to it with great care going into flavours and presentation. We’ve visited 3 times recently and each time has been lovely. The chef is clearly passionate about what he does. The front of house staff also are brilliant! Looking forward to a Sunday roast. So disappointed. The lady who served us was lovely and couldn’t do enough for us but sadly the food didn’t live up to expectation. We had lunch and decided on the pork dish. Unfortunately the pork was extremely dry and tough which spoiled the whole thing. It was also fine dining small and expensive. To her credit the lady came back and asked us if the pork was ok after she cleared our table so we said no. She apologised and said she would tell the chef and then took our coffees off the bill as a gesture of goodwill. Sadly I won’t be going back to risk a meal I can’t eat at those prices. Their home made bread is excellent though.

We’ve driven past this pub several times as fairly local and thought how nice it looked - there is an amazing garden with wonderful views so decided to stop there recently for a drink, and are still in shock - for 2 medium (175ml) glasses of wine the bill was £22.80!! We don’t mind paying for a decent glass of wine, and this was nice but not spectacular; we researched afterwards and not expensive to buy “on the high street”. As a regular visitor to London, this was more than we pay there. It has really put us off as despite being a nice place, this is frankly a rip off, which isn’t a good feeling. Not often I say negative things but this is not the place for us. Too many dogs and staff were stroking them and then handling food. Mixed reviews on the food some dishes were lovely while others were just not cooked especially the vegetables.

My husband and I sat outside enjoying the sunshine and gorgeous views. The staff we very friendly and attentive. Our lunch was delicious. I had a rib eye steak and my husband had chicken, both dishes were cooked perfectly and were well presented and fresh....

WE have just had dinner and I have to say it was possibly the worst meal I have ever eaten. 3 of us, we all said the same. Steak was way under cooked. Mussles were flavourless, as was the bread to accompany them. Dessert also left a lot to be desired. We have eaten here many times, but we won't be back.

I am afraid our visit to the Earl of March was anything but the advertised fine dining experience . The staff were very pleasant , however the food service was extremely slow and the quality was, to put it bluntly, awful. I had Southdown lamb which comprised two small knobs of meat , one of which was mostly fat, and some very small portions of various vegetables, while my companion had what should have been a medium rare rib eye steak....it was rubbery, stringy and tasteless and trying to eat it was not helped by a blunt steak knife. This was pointed out to a staff member who went and had a discussion with the chef. She came back full of apologies and said the chef had said it was difficult to cook a ribeye medium rare! She then offered us a free pudding! By this stage we had run out of time, forsook puddings and decided to leave. The bill for what is advertised as fine dining was excessive yo say the least. I realize restaurants probably have bad days and this was probably one of them. Hopefully for the restaurants sake, there are not too many more in future

The Goodwood menu was interesting and the specials too. Very full and noisy restaurant at lunchtime but outside on the terrace it was peaceful with great view towards Goodwood and the South Downs. Delicious food but the piece de resistance was the teriyaki tofu, inspired,...

We came here after Goodwood for dinner. The lobster bisque was lovely, could have done with some cream. The pie was nice for main, the desert, Rhubarb Brule was just awful. Zero taste of Rhubarb it tasted of something else. It was horrid. Should be...

Very disappointing. We have been visiting the EoM for several years as we kick off our Glorious Goodwood week and we always book the EoM for our first lunch of the week. We definitely wish we had nt. Firstly, we should have known that changes...

Nice country pub with good food. Great drink selection. It would be great to dim the lights a bit though for a cosier atmosphere.

SHOCKING. Stay clear, you have to spend at least £35/head for two courses and £45 for three. Cold and full of salt. Waited 45 minutes for our starter which I didn’t want but had to have a minimum of two courses.

We booked a table for four for Sunday lunch. The first surprise was that on a Sunday the only menu was two courses for £35 or 3 coursed for £42. No option to just have a roast, but the menu did look delicious and we...

We have had good lunches here before but today's roast beef was a disaster! It was completely inedible and I ended up taking mine home for the dog - she doesn't mind stringy and fatty undercooked beef! They apologised but didn't offer any discount off...

Lovely place with great staff but OMG the food prices are astronomical for a pub! Over £10 for most starters and often more than £24 for a main. At least the alcohol prices weren't too bad though. But won't be going back to eat any time soon, even though the quality of the food was pretty good. P.s. can't comment on the hotel part as only went for food and a drink.

A great location but sadly a very average experience. We went on a Wednesday night during half term and the menu was limited with none of the daily specials actually available but still on the board. I elected to go for the fish and chips and it was almost inedible, super dry and as if the fish had been reheated in an oven, the chips were terrible, dry and super crispy. My daughters had the chicken dippers and the chips had LOADS of salt on them. We were keen to stay for desserts but decided to skip it. I understand they have/had a new chef in so perhaps he was coming upto speed. Sadly I wouldn't return.
