There appears to be several listings on TripAdvisor for the The Stagg Inn hence for sake of completeness, here's my review of my latest visit in Aug 2022 also posted on one other listing: I've visited the Stagg Inn many many times and always had exceptional food. But this last time was.... deeply disappointing. The food was dreadful, bland, lacked seasoning, was smaller portioned than Stagg of old, and was much higher priced. Specifically, the Duck breast skin was heavily burnt - we thought we smelled burning! The dish lacked the ingredients listed (no ginger or soy) and was replaced with a salty-pancetta-puy-lentil base. The scallops lacked pea puree (previously a Stagg signature dish) but had plenty of unharmed peas. The stonefish dish was amateur - with no crispy skin, a crab-less sauce vierge and undercooked potatoes. All in all, not a great experience and we now have no reason to return or recommend the place since The Stagg Inn changed hands.

What a find from the internet, even though the waitress was by herself we were served in a friendly, timely , professional manner with even the chef serving us food. The pandemic and personal circumstances have kept us undoors for ages. We decided that enough was enough and had supper in The Stagg Inn, Titley. We enjoyed one of the most memorable meals we have had in years. (Sweetbreads followed by sea bass, and soft-shelled crab followed by venison since you ask) Superb cooking, comforting decor and friendly, unpretentious service. It really was a tonic. We will return for sure.

Was invited for a taster session as a member of staff after applying for a job as a waiter there. Having had good experiences as a customer in the past, I took up the offer. How naïve I was. The owners and chefs treated the other members of staff inhumanely. There was racism, swearing, and not the professionalism I expected from a former Michelin star pub. I can now see why they get through so many staff so quickly. Nicola and the other staff desperately need to step up their game if they wish to maintain staff. Do not apply for a job or even give them your money as a customer. Other pubs are a far safer bet.

I had a really great steak sandwich for lunch, with a pint of bitter from Weobley. I chose to sit in the garden on a fine day, and arrived early enough to be able to choose the best spot. Lunch alone can be depressing, but this was the opposite, enjoying the garden while eating a superb lunch and receiving friendly, attentive but not intrusive service. Great value too. The garden filled up while I was there but the tables are very well separated and I didn't see anyone taking risks. Pre-Covid people came from London to eat here, I recommend you book now before the crowds return in force.

This place is outstanding food at a very reasonable price. Pigeon and scallops as starters were cooked and presented perfectly. Duck for my main again was cooked to perfection and full of flavour and tender. Also steak as a starter and the best rump steak eaten in a long time. To finish off fresh lemon tart and homemade chocolate mousse served with a mini meringue both were very nice.

If you truly love food like I do you will love The Stagg. They have an amazing cocktail list including a really long non alcoholic one which is nice if you’re the driver to have the choice of something more interesting than the norm. We shared nibbles which included homemade crisps. They came in a paper bag but what I loved the most was they were lightly salted but there was dipping salt on the side for the more salty fan like me. My daughter had the pulled pork Bonbons and decided she could have had them at every course. The cauliflower cheese croquet were equally as good in my opinion. We all loved our main course from the home cured salmon to the lamb and the perfectly cooked steak. The lemon tart dessert was superb with its caramelised top. The Stagg deserves every accolade it gets.

Not quite Review of The Stagg Inn Pending review Not quite good enough. At 25% per head dearer than top end pub grub you expect this restaurant to be heading for a Michelin star. Its not... waiters leaning across you to serve someone (because they cant get behind your chair due to tables being too close) - and when clearing tables clearly stacking plates so they can clear in 1 visit is bad. On receiving each of the 4 courses not once were we visited moments later to ask if all was ok,,, on receiving the last plate of each course not once were we asked if "while we are here can we get anybody some drinks" - service standards were mediocre at best with no attention to detail... ok you have queen scallops and fillet steak which you wont find as standard elsewhere but 3 of the main course were cold including the fillet steak which was at best rare and not medium rare as ordered... whilst you should never crucify this cut of meat and must be careful you should know how to present it correctly and with heat... Overall it is not worth the extra per head... it just isnt...

It had been a while since we'd visited the Stagg, so we weren't sure it would live up to our memories of past experience. We needn't have worried - the same people were in charge, front and back of house, and the food was up to the usual standard. Sunday lunch is served as three courses, with no option for a more modest two courses, but it still represented very good value, given the quality of the food. I was pleased to see that they're now offering a vegan option for Sunday lunch, in addition to the usual roasts and fish.

This restaurant had been recommended to us by a number of friends and whilst we weren't disappointed I'm not sure it totally lived up to our expectations. I can't quite say why because the food was excellent and whilst not overly expensive it certainly couldn't be described as inexpensive. It would have been nice, perhaps if we could have sat somewhere with our pre-dinner drinks and mulled over the menu instead of having to go straight to our table. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant because the food was very good and very different to other restaurants we have dined at. Perhaps, it just lacked that certain bit of atmosphere; we were in the extension part which didn't look quite as inviting as the original bar.

Visited for my son's birthday as he loves his food and likes trying good restaurants.Overall, I would say that it was a good experience, but not great and far from the best we have had - our waiter was very polite, but was a bit over the top - would have been lovely if toned down a fraction!!I had the salmon and crab for starter and the flavour was very good - my son had the offal and thoroughly enjoyed it. I had fish for the main, and though nice, was nothing to write home about - my son had the belly pork and it was quite fatty - i know you expect this of belly pork, but fattier than average. My daughter had the duck, which she thoroughly enjoyed. There was a nice choice of puddings - I had the three creme brulee and these were very good - the coffee one especially. My son had the lemon tart, with marmalade ice cream - he did not enjoy the flavour combination. The highlight though was the cocktail menu - I had a stunning rhubarb one and would go back to just repeat that.Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, but not quite at the excellent point for us.

We have been to The Stagg at Titley several times and would always recommend it without hesitation. The pub is unpretentious, with slate floors and traditional wooden furniture, tasteful décor without the need of pompous frills; it provides an elegant yet traditional ambience. The staff are courteous, always available without being intrusive, and service is excellent. But what makes The Stagg stand out from other very pleasant pubs is the amazing culinary delights that it offers and an impressive and knowledgeable wine list and extensive selection of inspired non-alcoholic drinks (for those not wishing to drive the pub also provides accommodation). While awaiting starters we were provided with impatients of home cooked crisps and breads and offered a selection of nibbles including salt and pepper squid and whitebait. We chose starters of sea trout, a light refreshing and well balanced salad, and the most delectable steak tartare that melted in the mouth and was a taste sensation. Venison and steak followed both of which were faultless. A selection of Crème Brûlée and lemon tart was the finale to a truly magnificent production. This was the second time I have been to this pub/restaurant. It is a pleasant place with a mix of stone and wooden floors. We went to the stagg for a family celebratory meal. The food was ok nothing out of the ordinary. I had rump steak that was cooked just how I had asked. It came with a steel cup of chips vine cherry tomatoes and some wooded trays of large leafed salad were put on the table to share. Some ordered lamb which I am told was lovely, however that came with dauphinois potato served on a wooden coaster!! Literally one disc! No vegetables just a share in the large leaves! Very minimal and for £20 this seemed a rather expensive. A few people had puddings. The cheesecake was a little different- the biscuit base was a few crumbs sprinkled around a cheesecake topping that was cut into squares placed on top of the crumbs! The trio of creme brûlée was good and nicely presented. It was a great evening of company but I really don't understand where the wow factor is with the food? It's expensive and nothing really to write home about. For a Michelin star I really have had better meals and much better value than here! Nothing to go rushing back for I'm afraid. It was my husband's birthday over the Bank Holiday so of course we booked a table at The Stagg and yet again both the food and the service were first class. As I am also a vegetarian I really appreciate the separate Vegetarian Menu that is given out to all with the main menu. A Vegetarian Menu that actually gives me good choices as opposed to the standard sole vegetarian option (and that's invariably either risotto or cheese). So my husband was happy (and not just because I was paying and driving) and I was happy (because the food was yummy) All in all a very successful evening. Thank you to all at The Stagg

Back in 2001, The Stagg was I believe, the very first pub to be awarded a Michelin Star and richly deserved I'm sure it was. It is still an exceptional pub serving exceptional food. It sets the bar very high and so it should be judged I think not by all the other pubs, but by those very high standards that it has set for itself. So, when you notify in advance that one of your party (Mrs. Hindsight) is a gluten free diner, you are entitled to be a bit miffed when glutinous olive flatbread squares are brought to her - not once, but two nights running. When her otherwise sublime dessert (dark chocolate sorbet and coffee ice cream) is served on a bed of glutinous biscuit crumbs despite that fact that our 'ticket' bears the large capital letters GF, it really starts to get very irritating. It was the same at breakfast, glutinous toast BOTH mornings. The breakfast is superb. I did the full English one day and the poached kipper the next and both were terrific. But the toast thing shouldn't happen. OK, that's the GF moan over with.Next moan is the vegetable rationing. I like vegetables. Vegetables are healthy I am often told.On our second night at the Stagg, I had the lamb rack and slow roasted shoulder which was delicious but it was accompanied by less than half of one small of new potato. Seriously. I like new potatoes and craved a whole one. Even two. Mrs. Hindsight had the chicken. It too was delicious but was accompanied by a half inch thick slice from a corn on the cob. Mrs. H likes a bit of corn on the cob and was disappointed that this one cob would feed ten diners and felt that sharing it with only three or four other people might have been better. Seriously though, all the dishes would benefit from a little bit more of the vegetable accompaniments in my opinion.I was also a bit hacked off when I was charged for a glass of port which I had with a cheese board which I had at first declined and subsequently arrived unbidden. I assumed that it was a complimentary gesture from the establishment as we were spending so much money. Apparently not.Now some praise to balance things up. All the food was extremely good. The monkfish starter with curried cauliflower and the raisin purée was a revelation. The Marmalade Mule cocktail is now a firm favourite of Mrs. Hindsight and she had to go home with a bottle of the local vodka it's made from.By the way, we stayed at the Vicarage - effectively an annexe to the pub a few hundred yards down the village high street It was very disappointing - especially in view of the cost.

It had been a few months since our last visit and it is very reassuring to be able to return with relatives who have not been before and to find the same superb quality of food, drink and service. When you have said just how delicious dinner there is going to be, it is so comforting to know that it is still to the previous high standards. Everyone's dishes & whole dining experience were totally memorable - in just the right way.

We had a lovely evening at The Stagg Inn - all of the staff were knowledgeable about the food, the restaurant was nice with comfy upholstered chairs and no annoying piped music, and the food was beautiful. My husband had the cheese board which was extensive. Value for money was very good too. We will definitely return if we are in the area.

We were staying with friends in the area and The Stagg Inn was recommended for Sunday lunch - we were not disappointed ! The food, presentation and service were second to none ! My only criticism was the "scratchy" surface of the plates used for the starter and dessert ! If in the area we will certainly book for another dining experience !

En route to Wales we decided to start our bank holiday weekend with lunch at The Stagg. Not t he easiest place to find, we thought that the satnav was on the blink but after about a mile on a single track road, there it was and well worth the trouble. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and nothing was too much trouble. There is a choice of a la carte menu or bar menu. As we had our two grandchildren with us we opted for the bar menu and certainly weren't disappointed. They ordered from the children's menu, I ordered from the vegetarian choice which was absolutely delicious, goat's cheese tart. My husband and son had the steak sandwich, my husband pronouncing it the best steak he had had when eating out. Our daughter in law had the sea bass goujons and everything was beautifully presented and cooked. We did manage puddings somehow, which were all stunning. It's just a shame for us thatThe Stagg is not nearer we would definitely be visiting again. If you find yourself in the area, don't miss it!

We visited for my husbands birthday and had a wonderful meal. We started off with cocktails for the ladies and beers for the boys. For starters we had lamb sweetbreads, monkfish, scallops, lemon cured trout and steak tartare all very tasty and we all tried each other's dishes! For mains we had salmon, sea bass, venison, duck and fillet all were amazing, I had the sea bass, prawns and samphire which was delicious. For puddings we had cheeseboard, cheesecake, bread & butter pudding, chocolate mousse and creme brûlée. We had a fantastic night, the food was amazing and a few drinks were had. The service is just enough and not intrusive and the owner is just lovely. Will definitely visit again

Unfortunately from beginning to end the service at The Stagg Inn was very disappointing to say the least. When we arrived we were immediately seated and our drinks orders taken. Five minutes later the same waitress returned to take our drinks orders again - seemly oblivious to previous conversation. Then when our drinks arrived the empty glasses were left and our table became cluttered. During our first course a party were seated across from us but received their starters and main ahead of our main course! The waitress bumped our plates into my partner’s shoulder a number of times when clearing the table and to top it off my mother’s desert was taken from her before she had finished!I really would not recommend the restaurant to anyone – it really is not worth the trip...

I have been lucky enough to et at this restaurant on a few occasions. The food is incredible, the setting and atmosphere superb and in an incredible location. Most people are just blown away by everything this restaurant has to offer. UNFORTUNATELY I had a bad experience two Sundays ago. We are local farmers to the Stagg. I had a friend over from America and wanted to show him how we did food in this country. I invited other local friends of ours, on the understanding that it was the place to go for Sunday lunch and the beef was to die for. I have very knowledgable foodies and farmers are so hard to please. The beef was dire. Tasted ok but the connective tissue and fat was totally inedible. One of my guests asked for a steak knife it was so bad. I heard my husband and another friend moaning like mad. Being British, I didn't make a fuss there and then as we were having great fun and much wine had flowed. I had so much grief from my friends who had unfortunately had the beef. I felt compelled to email my displeasure. The reply was that they had had several comments of praise all day about the food. I was told where it had come from and the butcher who sold it… I was not pleased with this reply as I felt I should have been offered some recompense. I know we will never eat there again and neither will our friends. It makes no difference as people will still flock there. Good customer relations are very important in the hospitality business but not on this occasion…. so sad.

For our family this is the "go-to" place for special occasions. It is possible to dine more cheaply in this neck of the woods - but given the superb quality of the food, presentation and ambience, who would want to?Lunches, and snacks outside in Summer, are good, but it is the dining that is really, really special. It is easy to see how and why The Stagg gained a Michelin Star. Food is locally sourced - a great strength of many restaurants in this area of the country - but it is the imagination and sheer quality of the way it is treated and presented that is exceptional. This quality has been maintained over the last 2 years, in our experience, which is why I am comfortable in giving an enthusiastic recommendation.

This was an odd eating experience. Really good quality ingredients, my cod was certainly ample as a main course but alas so cold - I suspected it took a while being plated up as my husband's delicious( and warm) duck was prepared. I would have mentionned it but then noone serving came over at any point in the meal to invite any conversation whatsoever. Personally, its a shame when eateries offer customers so little in the way of dialogue. The place needs armosphere and a tad more personality when serving such potentially great food!

Went for lunch at the Stagg recently and it was fantastic. The welcome we had was very warm. Two of us had a pint of Butty Bach which was great and my wife had a glass of house rose which was to her pleasing. We ordered our meal and we were brought homemade crisps with a balsamic foam. They also brought us a cheese a beetroot bread that looked like a cake and tasted delicious. The mains were great and between us had the sausages, steak sandwich and sea bass goujons. We shared one of the legendary bread and butter puddings which was out of this world. A fantastic lunch, well done The Stagg.

We couldn't fault the food, but the staff were at best, indifferent, and at worst, totally inattentive. We visited as an anniversary treat. When I wanted another glass of wine I went to the bar and was completely ignored by 3 members of staff. When I did finally attract someone's attention, I felt as though I was being a nuisance and was told to sit down and a drink would follow. Twenty minutes later, my husband went to the bar to ask where my drink had got to. We are thinking of moving to the area, but sadly, The Stagg won't be on our list of places to eat.

I have often heard people talk in slightly hushed tones when mentioning the Stagg at Titley, but had never had the opportunity to visit. Such a moment arrived when the SO told me we were going for my birthday treat. Yummy, now I could find out what everyone was whispering about.Fast forward and a lovely late September Sunday lunchtime. The Stagg itself is a lovely old place with neat boxed hedge gardens and herb plantings all round the gravelled parking. The décor is to my mind a trifle tired and in need of some gentle attention, but no matter, one cant eat anaglypta wallpaper. Attentive waiting that really couldn't be faulted and table settings that were cosy to plain. We opted for the £21 three course sunday lunch, neither of us are big eaters so we asked if we could just have two, no, but you can swop a course for coffee. Hmm not such a good deal. Roast beef it was then. Two good slices of roast rump of Herefordshire beef, a real yorkshire, a couple of roasties and some rather dull floury new potatoes. This was accompanied by a copper pan of stir-fried curly cabbage and some rather watery cauliflower cheese. The gravy was a travesty and really should be an integral part of the overall enjoyment, grey and thin, The beef was good, good flavour and tender, but the plates were cool to tepid and did nothing to maintain the temperature of the food. We both had the Crème Brulee which was so richly creamed as to be slightly nauseating, the ginger one was not. I am afraid I would not rush back as the Tram at Eardisley is nearer and far better value and the atmosphere is charming.

Another wonderful meal - Sunday lunch. For appetisers two of us had goats cheese with fennel and apple (superb) and one had sweetbreads (equally good). For main courses we had lamb, sea bass and, very kindly, they gave our son sweetbreads as a main course (they're just simply his favourite thing to eat). Only one desert, honey pannacotta with blackberry jelly, blackberry sorbet and granola - SO good! We have to mention the wine list here - surely one of the best to be found. We will definitely be back - the welcome is always so warm and friendly and the service good and prompt.

Walking up through the charming gardens into the pub I was excited and the unfriendliness of the man behind the bar was unfortunate. We eventually got some conversation out of him when we paid but it was off-putting. The food and the other waitresses were as excellent and welcoming as we had hoped. A divine Jerusalem artichoke and truffle soup, was followed by perfectly cooked duck breast and leg with a buttery celeriac mash and then a strawberry dessert medley. My husband had pigeon breast, lamb rack and shoulder, and bread and butter pudding. Great wines. It was a delicious meal in an informal, charming setting but would have been improved by a greater sense of welcome in our reception.

We had a lovely warm welcome from the manager and the waitress was efficient and friendly. While we looked at the menus some hand made crisps and balsamic foam were brought to our table for us to nibble on and the the most fabulous home made foccacia and soda bread. For starters I had scallops, plump, fresh and beautifully cooked; my husband had lamb sweetbreads, which he raved about. I had the beef fillet with chips and salad and my husband had lamb cooked 3 ways with fresh green vegetables and new potatos for our mains - all cooked to perfection. We shared a dessert of raspberry sorbet, ice cream, fresh raspberries and meringue.I cannot praise the Stagg highly enough and would recommend it to anyone. We have visited The Stagg for several years and always had a first class experience on each occasion, so are truly saddened to find our last visit to be so poor. Please could the lady who greets you on arrival just try to give a very small smile instead of glaring at you, with hardly a word spoken. Please could the male waiter (the girls are bright and cheerful) at least pretend that he is there to serve you and that he does not find it beneath him to see whether you may require anything without us having to get up to find him (twice!). Out of several dishes, most suberb, three were dreadful, yet nothing was done about it when the waiter was informed. Please, please, we need The Stagg to go back to its high standards. We will try you once more and hope that we are met with a warm welcome and excellent food. Watch this space....

We have been going to the Stagg for many years . It has always been the most consistent in the high quality of its food and service. Last weekend we took Joan, my mother in law, for her 90th birthday and the staff surpassed themselves. The food, as always, was superb, but they also produced a birthday cake hand decorated with edible flowers and strawberries. The whole occasion was a memorable treat.

I booked The Stagg as a surprise for my boyfriend and we were not disappointed. We were early so chose to have a drink in the bar first, which is a local pub so has a welcoming atmosphere. The menu choices are plentiful and non-pretentious given that this is a Michelin starred establishment. One of the walls was covered with awards so we were expecting something special.Since it was a special occasion (birthday) we went all-out and had 3 courses and coffee. To start we were brought some home-made crisps with a balsamic foam, which was delicious and just like eating good quality salt and vinegar crisps. I ordered the crab bisque, which was very powerfully flavoured and my boyfriend ordered asparagus, which was served with slow-cooked egg and hazelnuts. For main we opted for duck and lamb. Duck is one of my favourite meats and it was served with carrots, celeriac and a potato fondant. Delicious. The lamb was described as 'melt in the mouth' and we did sample each other's food and agreed we'd made great choices. My favourite dessert is treacle tart, which was on the menu but I was torn between that and cheese. A couple of awards displayed in the bar were for the cheese board so I ordered it. When a very decent slice of treacle tart arrived for the lady sitting on the next table I did have food envy and thought I'd made the wrong choice. The envy didn't last long as one of the chef's wheeled out the cheese trolley with a wonderful choice of 12 regional cheeses. I'm not a fan of blue cheese - half the choice - but I chose a wonderful Welsh Brie and Stinking Bishop and gave the other 2 choices to the chef, one of which was flavoured with hops. The cheese was served with 2 slices of date and walnut bread and a handful of biscuits. My boyfriend ordered a very light chocolate sponge with a gooey middle served with coffee ice cream and described it as 'choccylicious.'Our coffee was served with chocolate-coated crisps flavoured with fennel, chili and Tonka bean, which was a lovely addition that we made room for. To drink we had a g&t, virgin mary, 2 glasses of Merlot and sparkling water and I was very surprised and delighted to have paid less than £50 a head for a wonderful meal.

The Stagg Inn is one of the best places in which I have ever eaten, either in the UK (where it's mainly London) or abroad. The food is really interesting, incredibly fresh, locally sourced and utterly delicious. The staff are lovely, the layout relaxed and the tables sufficiently far from one another that you aren't competing with your neighbours to hear your tablemates.
