Excellent service from Rafael. All staff are always friendly. We love coming here a few times a year to enjoy the lovely meals😊

We visited the restaurant whilst over for a home countries event, Roberto was very accommodating despite making 2 separate bookings for 2 tables not only did he recognise the 2 booking as the group he had preemptively joined the tables together before I even asked if it was possible. Nothing ever seemed to be an issue including adding an extra 2 chairs to the table for extra members who appeared. Food was of a high quality as well.

An excellent service from staff. We always come here for birthday celebrations and never felt disappointed. The price for the meal for 3 was good. I can't believe how generous they are with their platter summer deal. We are walking away with full bellies.

Our family were staying at the Crown Plaza for the weekend and we joined them for drinks and then a meal at the restaurant, there were 11 of us in total which included 2 very active toddlers. The service we experienced in the restaurant was amazing, the waiters and bar staff were so helpful, efficient and nothing was too much trouble. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals (my smoked haddock fish cakes were delicious). Also, a refreshing choice for dessert on the kids menu is an option for fresh fruit. There was a lovely atmosphere in the busy restaurant. We look forward to visiting again soon.

Really enjoyed our family get together at The Stables. We had an early dinner with four children and were well looked after. The staff were warm and friendly when greeting us and sat us quickly and took some drink orders. The children were given colouring which was a good touch. Food wasa good selection of steak house fayre. I had the steak house ribeye which was good value and very tasty. Kids meals came out first and were good quality and value. Staff looked after us well all night. We all felt it was good value for the 10 of us. Thanks to All the team for an great night.

Lovely meal and service once again. We visited as a family of three (2 adults, one toddler). Raffa was our waiter and was amazing start to end. There was another waitor and I am sorry I did not catch his name but he was lovely also. We ordered the Thai wings and Halloumi fries to start, and my husband had the Ribeye Steak, I had the Chimmichurri Chicken Thighs and our daughter had a children's Penne. We enjoyed it all, full of flavour and cooked well. Thanks again

Decent ribeye, and a potentially great spot. As with many other places, this must have been a popular spot pre pandemic and with decent staff may get there again. Restaurant staff is putting in the effort, hotel reception staff, not so much.

We had an afternoon tea and also an evening meal at the hotel and both were excellent. The afternoon tea was delicious and very good value for money. Tayanne served us, she and all the other staff were very professional and friendly. We would definitely visit again if in Chester.

Just like to say a big thankyou to all the staff for making Christmas day, a truly wonderful day. The food all four courses and then coffee and mince pies ( which I could not manage!) Was lovely. It was well organised and not rushed at all. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and the staff lovely. We came as a table of ten and was looked after.

We had a lovely meal this evening and to top it off the staff were second to none. We were really well looked after and would just like to say thank you. I only took a photo of one of the meals which I'll attach. We eat here every now and again as a family when visiting the pool and I would definitely recommend giving the food a try. My favourite meal is the Chicken Mekhani, beautiful sauce and the chutney they add to the side is beautiful.

myself and my team have come here many times for work, the last time we came here was during the chester races and we had a great time, this time was for work so we had some coffee in the bar and it was a great space to concentrate in, my latte was great and i loved that i got some Maltesers with it

Great location, lovely reception and bar area. Bathroom was dated mould around the bath and tiles. Air conditioning extremely loud through the night from room 323. Air con below the window sounded like a helicopter taking off. Had a poor night's sleep. If I we're to stay again I would have to insist on a better room. Disappointed this time round

Last night me and my colleagues went to the bar in the Plaza for some drinks after attending Chester Races yesterday, all i have to say is WOW, the two behind the bar were very good! they kept up with our large order by having the girl take the order while the guy started making them thank you both for great service, we all really enjoyed ourselves

me and my partner came in for cocktails, i hade a Passion Fruit and an Espresso Martini, the girl who made them was lovely to talk to, we really enjoyed ourselves

Great bar restaurant in a beautiful setting inside the Crowne Plaza hotel. Very friendly and helpful service. Price are reasonable and you get 25% off the bill if you have a blue light card. Food isn't the best but they are not bad either, so would definitely recommend.

It was the best afternoon tea! Everything was delicious and the americano was also very good! The chicken burger was also delicious! Afternoon tea was £19.95. You have to make a reservations in advance by phone.

Only 3 tables booked for the restaurant on New Year’s Eve, all 3 required the manager/head chef to attend the tables. Whilst it should be noted there was a large party in the main room with over 400 people, however if high quality service could not be provided to all customers, then don’t take the booking. The manager did, to his credit, give us free deserts and a drink each, to rectify the issues which I won’t go into as he sorted them and was really nice, however the waiter would not take a meal off the bill and then got in a mood when I asked for the 10%service to taken off the bill. He screwed up the receipt and threw it at the bar. Then slammed the new receipt on our table. Couldn’t wait to get out, never felt so uncomfortable. Will not be coming back.

Part of the Crowne Plaza Hotel and we only ate there as we'd had a busy day and didn't want to go out again but we're glad we did. Good menu of decent quality food with good portions and very good service. Well worth it if you're staying at the hotel.

I’m not sure if this review fairly reflects the food but this were my experience, I picked the bbq wings and pepperoni pizza, food came out quickly and servers very attentive. Unfortunately the wings and pizza were little more than what you’d expect frozen from a supermarket. My colleagues had lamb shank and a curry which looked and apparently tasted hugely better. Beware also the drinks will drain your wallet long before giving the desired effect.

As long as you don’t mind waiting 30 minutes to be served and then 30 minutes between courses then you are fine. The food is OK but the levels of service are a lot to be desired.

Apart from the amazing food, nothing was too much for the staff to do for us. John the head chef went above and beyond to cater for our needs, including arranging a surprise cake for our guests. The staff in the restaurant were kind, friendly and again catered to our every need. I would recommend the stables bar and grill to anyone wanting great food and excellent service.

We had lunch and only chose it because we were going to the spa afterwards but we were so glad we did. The food was great. We had lots of tapas style dishes and liked them all. In addition they dealt with two different dietary requirements brilliantly. Even cooking oven wedges especially for the Coeliac who needed gluten free. The view over the west of the city is great.

Food was lovely we had the two courses and two drinks for £39 starters where beautiful and mains delicious couldn’t fault any of it. Deserts expensive for what they are but tasty! Service was great- really good attentive and seemed very genuine! We are staying at the hotel and chose to eat in the hotel and I would do so again if we stayed again! NB: Chef made me something slightly slightly off menu and changed an ingredient for me without any hesitation and it was lovely! Really appreciated the accommodating nature of this!

Overall I would say if you happen to be staying in the hotel then the restaurant is convenient, but the menu is a little unexciting. The cooking of the main courses was up to scratch but oh my goodness the desserts were dreadful and I would recommend to steer clear. The service was exceptional – all the waiting staff were friendly, efficient, and the right amount of attentiveness. I would have liked to see the numerous customers ignoring the prevailing restrictions and wandering in and around the restaurant without face coverings being challenged!

Went for dinner before heading home after staying in the hotel. We used the 50% off offer and was told by the waiter that we can order the set menu so we ordered two steaks from the set menu which was really nice. We also ordered the chicken wings which was really spicy which wasn't stated on the menu and the lamb rump which was really nice. When we got the bill, we found that the set menu wasn't discounted so we asked for it to be sorted as the waiter assured us that we could have it.

Visited as we received a 50% off voucher food was very disappointing even at the reduced rate waitress took our voucher on arrival and hence the bill wasnt reduced and I no longer had anything to produce. Very meagre portion of halloumi on the main course and a very dry chicken pie which was accompanied by beef gravy??? Solid dry mashed potato and a side dish which we were told as the chef believes this to be inadequate you will not ne charged for it....needless to say we were a very disappointing experience and will definitely not be returning a complete let down

I eat in Stables couple times a month and believe they have the best cheese burger in town along with great onion rings. I also enjoy there grill chicken Caesar salad. My Granddaughter enjoyed the Salmon plate. Saturday morning brunch is best in town!!!!!!

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza for 1 night (see our review) and decided to eat in this bar and grill. We arrived at the bar which is quite nice and ordered two vodka martinis. The bar man didn’t look like he knew what he was doing in fact he didn’t mix enough and had to make another one, also no olives ! We were shown to our table, ordered our food which was very nice, I ordered a rare steak which was a bit chewy. Cheese board was lovely. Service was very good and our waiter was very friendly.

The stables is a spacious and airy place. It's a pleasant place to spend time. The menu is limited, the service slow and I have to say some of the staff have a real attitude problem. I do not appreciate being spoken too in a stroppy manner. The final straw was the cost of the ice cream dessert. £6.50 for 3 half scoops of mediocre ice cream is outrageous. I don't think we'll darken this establishments door any time soon.

Visited for evening dinner as we stayed at the hotel. Service was great, quick and efficient, friendly staff. Food was lovely. Would visit again if I was in the area.

No explicaré por qué mi esposa y yo estábamos comiendo aquí, solo para decir que nunca elegí comer en los restaurantes de los hoteles (especialmente en los hoteles de cadena). Sin embargo aquí estábamos. El restaurante tiene excelentes vistas de Chester y está razonablemente bien equipado. Fue muy tranquilo cuando fuimos. Los entrantes estaban bien, chili chipirones y gambas (4 en sus conchas con cabezas en las que está bien) con chorizo. La mujer tenía 10 onzas de bistec chuletón con salsa de pimienta. El bistec en sí estaba bien. Tuve la chuleta de cerdo de 8 onzas que debe haberse reducido en el lavado porque en el mejor de los casos no era más de 6 onzas y probablemente estaba más cerca de 5. Estaba totalmente recocido seco y sin sabor. La piel de las fichas con ambos era una abominación. Eran grandes y suaves, flácidos, grasosos y recocidos por fuera (eso requiere algo de habilidad). El tomate y champiñones a la parrilla eran bastante agradables. El servicio es bueno, pero nuestra factura total fue de casi 75 por dos platos, dos pintas y media y una copa de vino. Obviamente atiende a viajeros de negocios y turistas en paquetes que pueden no ser tan críticos como yo. Acabo de regresar de Portugal y he disfrutado de una excelente comida internacional (aperitivos, tres platos, vino y café por 60 a 65 euros en grandes restaurantes), me doy cuenta de por qué rara vez como en este país y por lo general evito hoteles como la peste. Hay opciones mucho mejores para comer afuera en Chester por este dinero.

Me he alojado en el hotel varias veces y he comido en el hotel. El desayuno siempre es genial, con mucha variedad y buen servicio.La cena no estuvo a la altura del buen estándar habitual. Comencé con langostinos cocidos que tuve que dejar porque no podían pelarse. Lo señalé, pero todavía estaba cargado. Luego tuve la rabadilla de cordero, la rabadilla era pequeña y al menos 30% de grasa sólida, lo que dejé y también apunté que no podía comer, ya que lo que quedaba era la grasa, las verduras y la papa, cuando estaban demasiado cocidas y pequeñas. Muy decepcionante.Luego esperé durante 30 minutos, solo 2 miembros del personal para el restaurante, antes de preguntar si me gustaría algo más, estar hambriento debido a los cursos anteriores que tenía el plato de queso que era bueno y abundante.Una pena, ya que en general, me gusta mucho este hotel, pero en el futuro desafiar el clima y salir.

We ate here as we were staying in the hotel it is situated in, wish we hadn't bothered. Ordered a sun blush tomato parma ham and mozzarella salad, it came with a huge amount of greenery, one cherry tomato cut in half, two thumbnail size pieces of mozzarella and a tiny slice of ham. Staff not happy when I refused to have it. Main course burger was ok, not much flavour, then came dessert. A chocolate fondue, first one fondue was a hard lump and cold, it went back, second one no fondue in the middle at all!!!! By this time I had lost the will to live, so ended up with sticky toffee pudding as they had no profiteroles left, and thdy were my second choice. We were not the only table who had problems, there were at least 4 other tables who also complaned about the food and its quality, but staff very unhappy people were complaining.

Very close to hotel Rooomzz that we stayed at. Food was very nice and the bar and surround was spectacular. Staff were very and helpful and polite. I would recommend this restaurant to anybody visiting chester with a voucher.

First impressions of the rear entrance of the Crown Plaza where the stables are, are not good. Inside it improves.

Stayed here many times. The breakfast is a great start to the day. Very reasonable for hotel guests considering everything on the buffet. Bacon is excellent!

There is nothing better than good food, a good bottle of wine, excellent service and a waitress who cant do enough to make sure everything is at it should be. we will be coming back.

We had the rib eye and rump steak and both were lovely, well presented & best chips tasted in a long tine - defo recommend to eat here - prices not particularly cheap but well worth it I think

After a long day out decided to stay and eat in the hotel. This was a last minute decision but we were able to get a table without booking. The bar area was very relaxing and quiet. The bar staff were helpful and efficient. Shown to our table and given clear information about the various offers for dinner. We opted for the dine for 2 special which also came with a glass of house wine but a lot better than normal house wine and we weren't disappointed. The food was fresh, well cooked and well presented. The service was quick and very efficient but you didn't feel rushed.

I stayed in the hotel where the restaurant is hosted and and I had both breakfast and dinner here. Focusing on dinner, the menu is somewhat traditional with some creative touches, and for the price and the experience in the hotel itself, one would expect a quality offering. The food itself was well done with attention to detail. For example, I had a black pudding dish for starters which came with a contrasted sweet souce and fresh watercress, and a slice of crispy bacon to get back to the saltiness of the pudding. For the main dish I had a vegetarian risotto which was mellow and full of flavour. However this is where the good stops and the not so good begins.

As stated on hotel review meal here was excellent, well-cooked steak and good service. Decent choice on menu and nice decor and seating arrangement.

This is a good sized bar and restaurant associated with the Crowne Plaza Hotel in central Chester. It's opposite the bus station but a long way from the railway station.

Stayed 2 nights at the Crowne Plaza. Arrived around 7pm on the first night following a days work followed by a long drive, so we decided to eat on site. The service was good, given that although it was a Friday night there appeared to be only one young lady on duty to meet and great, did you at a table, take drinks and meal order and deliver the drinks etc, plus she was covering the bar and restaurant area. She moved around at a great speed and was able to remain pleasant and efficient, so very well done. Next the food. Not a huge choice, but adequate. My husband had the steak burger with seasoned fries and I had poached haddock with applewood mash and winter greens. All I can say is both dishes were OK. Somewhat bland, certainly no seasoning on the fries or in either dish, and they filled a gap but nothing more. Would not eat there again to be honest.

This resteraunt is in the Crown Plaza Hotel which has a four star rating. We stayed in the hotel and had a very good stay but the dinner menu was not as extensive as would be expected from such a venue. The food served was good but a little overpriced for what it was,

Chateaubriand cooked so perfect medium rare, a huge thank you to the chef who cooked this steak, from one chef to another, I could not have cooked it better myself. well done.

During a stay in the hotel, we decided to eat in the hotel to avoid having to go far to eat (we had completed a 10K race earlier that day!!)

We went each morning of our two nights stay and had great breakfasts on each morning. The staff were really welcoming, the restaurant was clean and well set out. All the food was fresh and well presented. The hot buffet was frequently replenished with fresh food.

me and my wife stayed in the crowne plaza and had a drink in the bar before we left. the atmosphere and ambience is very nice and they had a large screen tv with sky to watch the football.

We stayed at hotel. Had the dinner package, good choices, or could have so much towards the Alcart menu. Staff very good.

Having stayed frequently at the hotel I've sampled on many occasion the food in the Stables Bar and Grill, both am for breakfast and pm for dinner...never had to raise a single complaint 😃

We ate here as part of the package with the hotel and what a cracking decision that was. The staff were so friendly and amenable, the food was of excellent quality and a very good choice and very competitively priced. Definitely be back.

Really enjoyed our meal at The Stables. We were staying at the Crowne Plaza over the weekend. The filet steak was superb and cooked to perfection. Desert was fab too. Would definitely eat there again without hesitation. Staff very good and attentive too.

Nice restaurant in the Crowne Plaza Hotel. We ate there as we were staying at the hotel. I had fish and chips and they were delicious, my mum had steak and chips and said the steak was cooked to perfection but some of the chips were a bit hard.
