Great food, waitresses were lovely.

A delicious Sunday Roast I had at "The Squire" in the High Street the other day, a lovely Roast Turkey, definitely worth visiting! 😋 🍽 🦃

We were really looking forward to our visit but came away disappointed. We arrived on time and were shown to our table in the restaurant and were looking forward to a relaxing sat evening. The restaurant was very noisy to the point where you couldnt relax or even talk. The young lady who took or order was very nice but at the time she was taking the order another waitress placed a glass of white wine on the table and walked off. When we said it wasn't ours the waitress sighed towards the other girl and took it away. We ordered a steak and belly pork. The steak was OK but not really mouth watering or exceptional and the carrot puree with the pork was so strongly garlicked it was inedible and the sauce salty and unpleasant. Given the volume of noise we drciddd to forego desert and asked for bill to find £28 of drinks had been added that weren't ours. Overall very noisy, hit and miss service and moderate food for the prices charged. Don't think we would look to return based on ghis experience.

What a superb meal. The food was fantastic and the atmosphere was relaxed. It can be expensive but depends on what you chose. We had the 24oz Porterhouse steak, and it melted in your mouth. Fully recommend

Fantastic food, I had the pulled pork burger. Good portions and a reasonable price. Plenty of space of all group sizes. Staff were very friendly and helpful, would happily go back here.

Lovely pub with steak house attached. My partner had the fillet which was served medium rare as requested, the buttered greens were nice but the Béarnaise tasted like it was from a jar. Jacket was well cooked and ample. I had the T Bone, lovely flavour but over cooked, asked for medium and it was well done. I opted for the “dressed salad” and “rosemary mushrooms” with chips. The chips were the best thing on the plate! The “dressed salad” was an cup of bagged Florette leaves not dressed, the “rosemary mushrooms” were button mushrooms boiled in water, butter and some rosemary sprigs, I’d suggest using a mushroom with some flavour, portobello or field would be better, and roasted or fried not boiled!. The staff were very nice and overall the meal was wasn’t bad just not worth the overall charge. We paid £78 for 2 steaks, no starters, no deserts. In truth we felt a little ripped of. We will try again as maybe it was an off night?

We went for a family meal with a little one. They didn’t have any children menus so looked it up online and not a lot of choice for my fussy eater. We all had steak and it was absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection! Would definitely come back! Very attentive staff and good to see plenty of them for a Sat night. Had to finish our drinks in the bar as was politely told our table needed to be returned. Wanted to write this review as had seen some negative ones recently. The rugby was on and very loud in the bar but you weren’t affected as restaurant in the back. Would highly recommend

The service was great but the food was rubbish ! Paid £18.50 for fish & chips , the fish was very big but when cutting into it it was mainly batter thick soggy batter. The chips were cheap frozen chips not good value for the money would of expected so much more for the price.very disappointing wouldn’t recommend.

Sunday lunch was nice but had better, pork nice, very disappointing crackling as it was small and it was from a packet (pork scratchings) the puffy ones! Sat very close to next table with other customers on it, staff friendly, unfortunately wouldn’t hurry back.

Always have had good food and great service , would recommend booking a table as it can get busy. Will definitely visit again with the family

We were a large party of 31 (24 adults, 7 children). The preorder was in & we had arrived. The team at The Squire are like a well oiled machine , food served quickly so we all ate together, Pork Belly to die for, amazing burgers, superb steaks & the children’s meals were plenty, my daughter said it was the best Mac & Cheese - quite the compliment for the fussiest of humans! As for the desserts, please do go & try the Sticky Toffee pudding 👌🏽 All the while other tables were in the restaurant & bar and the service remained unaffected. What a team! Thank you for looking after us so well & making my man’s birthday so special! 🫶🏽

Ate here earlier. Starter was nice but unfortunately the rump steak was unseasoned and inedible, I just couldn’t chew it. I told one of the staff and she replied ‘I’ll feed that back to management’. And this is supposed to be a steakhouse?

Great atmosphere; decent lager, cider and beer ranges. Good wines, too. Food is great in the restaurant. Love it!

Lots of choice on the menu but for us the starters ( home made Nacho's with Chilli beef) and the burgers are outstanding. Lots of options on the burger menu and they even do a deal with 2 burgers for a discounted price on a Tuesday night. Highly recommended and you won't leave hungry.

Came for lunch with a group of friends. Told the waitress that I am allergic to the salad in the burger. She thought this was funny and not a real allergy, so my food was brought to the table with lettuce and tomatoes on. She still thought it was funny when I pointed out what she had done and offered to bring another plate for me to place the offending items on. I wonder if she would continue to smirk if my tongue and throat had begun to swell? Maybe you would all have a great laugh when someone with a severe allergy was unfortunate enough to die as a result of your apathy?

I have been to this restaurant many times over the years, but I will not be returning. We booked a table for 5pm, when we got there, in the restaurant side there were about 4 tables occupied. Started of ok, or drinks order taken, food order taken, that was the good part, then it went down hill. The fish and chips meal the fish was thin, and nearly all batter, the portion of chips was small, not as I have this meal there before. The burger meal, the buns were very hard, so they inedible We were part way up the room, so there were no passing servers, they never came and asked if our meals were ok, they never came and asked if we wanted any more drinks. The did ask us if we wanted desserts but by this time we decided to leave, asked for the bill, when we got it we noticed that the optional service charge was already added on, we asked for it to be removed, and they did that, I feel if the service charge is optional it should not automatically be added on your bill.

Service was good however the food was not. Steak was inedible. The burger was over cooked and burnt. Would never eat here again.

The food was well cooked, service was great. A little on the steep side, but you get what you pay for. Football on TV in the background, so be prepared or try to ignore it.

Was very disappointed, steak wasn’t cooked to my liking and chewy, they said they will get that changed and the new steak came back out the same. When paying £30+ for a steak it should be done to how you want it in my opinion. My 1st time here as I have seen a lot of good reviews but I don’t recommend for the price you pay. And rude management, they don't like criticism

Just had the fish finger sandwich. Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous. Staff were super friendly and welcoming, plenty of drinks to choose from. Really nice place that has a good vibe about it. Will be back to try the Sunday roast.

This could be a fantastic place, but sadly this quality of the food, just did not match the higher than average prices, for 2 starters and 2mains, being the best part of £60, its fair to say ive had better quality food at a weatherspoons or greeneking, for less. Food orders got mixed up, and was told we was mistaken, some of the food was burnt. The menu looked great, we was looking forward to a nice meal, after a busy day, but left feeling some what disapointed and feeling ripped off.

We decided to eat in Chipping Sodbury at short notice and nowhere that was open and serving food really appealed (bank holiday evening). Heading back to the car we stumbled on the Squire. We had the risotto and one of the burgers. Absolutely fantastic food - possibly the best burger I've ever had out. Good drinks choice too. Will be back!

We booked online at really short notice (Half an hour before) Arrived and greeted by very friendly and helpful staff. Seated outside at our request and we had two lamb roasts and two kids meals both came out very quickly, all were very tasty and hot. The service was very quick and friendly. The menu was a reduced Sunday menu but very good nonetheless and the kids selections were perfect! Lovely atmosphere in the place. Nice and relaxed outside with some chilled background music. Overall great experience for our first time visiting but would definitely recommend and we will be back ourselves in the near future. Thank you for the lovely afternoon to all the team.

Lovely Sunday afternoon lunch. We had two roast dinners and two kids meals. Food came out very quickly and was piping hot and very tasty. Really enjoyed ourselves. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would recommend to anyone to try it.

Meanwhile, a much larger table was seated next to us and had their orders taken. Their drink order arrived before ours had been taken. Ordered one beef roast and one lamb roast. Was average and certainly not worth the prices being charged. There are several better quality and better value roast lunches in the area. Ordered cauliflower cheese and pigs in blankets as extra. Cauliflower cheese was full of stalks and certainly not worth the £4.95 being charged. Even if this came as part of the roast, it still wouldn't make the price of £19.50 for the dinner feel any better value. It was truly awful. Pigs in blankets didn't arrive. My partner eventually caught the waitress' attention after around 10 minutes, she asked where they were....really wish she hadn't now! Waitress apologised, went straight to the kitchen and brought back a pot with 4 cold, dried up, burnt things in it. The sausage was completely dry and crumbly. Probably the worst pig in blanket I have ever tried to eat. We left these. Again, if they'd have been included in the price of the lunch, the prices being charged is still not justified. No check on us during the meal or issues would have been highlighted. Restaurant area was incredibly hot, lots of people fanning themselves with menus. By the time i'd finished lunch, I just wanted to leave. Waitress came to clear the table, still didn't ask if everything was ok. Just asked if we'd like to see the dessert menu. I replied "no, we'll just pay the bill please". Waitress said ok and disappeared. I'd already seen the dessert menu and wasn't going to pay £7.95 for any dessert after the quality of food I had already been presented with. Who can justify £7.95 for 3 scoops of ice cream anyway? I think that just proves how overpriced this place actually is! Waitress didn't come back with the bill or card machine, neither did anyone else. We waited for 20 minutes and I decided to pay on the way out. It was only after, I realised that a 10% service charge had also been added to the bill of this overpriced food. Had I realised, this would have been taken off as the service was really poor.

Amazing food served here! Especially burgers and the nachos starter’s! Great service, place was clean and prices wasn’t ridiculous either. Lovely area we all really enjoyed this experience, highly recommend

Food not bad. Would try again on a quieter night

Came here for a family birthday as had heard good things about the steaks. Meat was easily as good as some expensive steak restaurants and perfectly cooked. Good atmosphere and had a great time. My only niggle is that the rest of the plate was very beige with onion rings, chips etc, would have loved the option to switch some of this to veg or salad but not a big concern. Will definitely be returning.

I ordered a jacket potato with bbq pulled pork and cheese, it was a huge let down - flavourless and jacket potato not taste fresh. I didn’t eat all of it so it went waste. Mac and cheese was okay but again, rather flavourless. Both dishes were luke warm. The price they charge for the foods doesn’t match to its quality at all. To be honest I won’t be coming back. Very disappointing experience.

Not really sure why the restaurant staff find it necessary to be so rude. Lovely pub that serves wonderful food but the place is let down by their rudeness and misunderstanding of families with young children. They need to take a leaf from the book of the pub next door who made us feel more than welcome and not like an inconvenience.

Food is fantastic, the issue was the waitress was really pushy and was hanging around our table alot which made us uncomfortable and it was difficult to enjoy our date night as we felt it was a sit eat pay leave process and no time to actually enjoy the food or a little conversation and drinks. They also have the auto added even tho it states optional service fee/tip and normally we wouldn't have minded but in this case it was 11% and when the waitress hadn't really been a good host or made us feel welcome we asked if this could be changed to 5% ( I honestly think 0 would have been appropriate however she did seem kind of new to the role so didn't want to be to harsh), we were then asked to sit and work out how much that would be and then how much the final bill would be which was not expected ( thought she would just be like "ill be right back with an amended bill")

Have frequently this pub on a number of occasions and never had a bad experience… that’s good enough for me…! Keep it up 😁👍🏾👏🏾

The food served in this pub is simply incredible. I can't fault anything about my visit. The beer was excellent, the food was piping hot and well cooked as well as being flavoursome, the service was grand and the staff were very polite and attentive. I would highly recommend this establishment if you are in town and wish to dine out.

Wonderful meal and fantastic service. We attended this even for my husband’s birthday. We were greeted with a glass of Prosecco and they also sang happy birthday later on in the evening. The staff when above and beyond. Lovely atmosphere, great people and even better food. Highly recommend.

Will visit again. Service a little slow, but that applies in many eateries in these times of staff shortages.

Sunday lunch menu online stated 'Our roasts come served with seasoned roast potatoes, parsnips, Yorkshire pudding, cheesy leek gratin and fresh market vegetables' The actual menu and what you get is far less choice and more expensive. There is no gratin, or choice of market veg. You get parsnips on your plate with the meat, yorkie and roast potatoes (I needed my steak knife to cut the skin). Then you get carrots and red cabbage on the table. The only place I've ever had Sunday lunch and no green veg available!! No worth the £18:95.

Went out for dinner with lots of recommendations for this place so I was looking forward to it. It did not disappoint, delicious food, fantastic service, but pricey I guess that is to be expected with the standard of produce and ingredients and then the execution of cooking. The steak was cooked to how I asked the side of macaroni cheese was worth it. pudding was so so good!

It's not the cheapest prices on the block, but you donget your value for money. Having have onion rings, fries, and garlic mushrooms and peas included in a steak meal is not common for under £24 . Table booking online is easy, staff were friendly and approachable. Food and drinks came in a timely fashion. My steak was beautifully cooked and was delicious, as was all the sides. The rest of my friends were also very happy with their meals. Would happily return.

I visited the Squire with friends on Friday night. Although I have been here before, this is my first review. We had booked in advance and were shown to our table in the rear restaurant. The staff were friendly, helpful and were prompt with the drinks order and water for the table. All our party had burgers for our main meal, as this is a speciality of the restaurant. I had a 'Plain Jane' cheeseburger and chips. The burger was very tasty although the beef patty was a little dry. I wonder whether the beef patties were cooked in advance or to order. This wasn't enough to put me off though, and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. The chips were also nicely seasoned, not greasy and crispy. I did not order a dessert as we shared a birthday cake (bought by us but presented by staff), but I was tempted by more than one item on the menu. I will be returning to the Squire to try out more items on their menu. The restaurant/pub is one of best in Chipping Sodbury and I always recommend it to visiting friends/family.

Lovely garden, tasty food great spot for a catch up with friends

Superb surprise in this shopping street... a steakhouse worthy of the name with a large, long room and a very friendly exterior. Impeccable service and a delight for the taste buds (melt-in-the-mouth meat as desired). Recommended if you are passing through.

A first time visit, and we were impressed with the roast menu, and associated starters. the beef was well cooked, and it was unusual to find carved ham on the menu, which was a rare treat. Not sure about serving it with beef gravy, and perhaps asking if it was required would be a good idea. The vegetable serving were varied and sufficient for the table. An appropriate range of sauces were available and the cranberry nicely presented in an individual jar. The service could do with a little polishing, and I had to interrupt a staff 'gossip' in the kitchen in order to find someone to pay the bill!

Great steak. Friendly and fast service and with the pub connectee for drinks afterwards an ideal place for an evening.

Nice location, and service was fast and excellent for a busy Sunday lunch. The Sunday roast was very tasty, the meat was very good quality and the portions were very generous. The gravy sauce can be requested on the side. Desserts were very nice too. Recommended.

In a typically English setting, we ate a mixture of roasts with various vegetables, an excellent beer and to finish a delicious cheesecake, all for around 40.00 euros per person. All in all right

Sunday lunch was absolutely incredible! The beef and lamb was so tender, potatoes crispy and fluffy and home made pigs in blankets. Superb! The only slight issue was the restaurant was boiling hot, we had to use our menus to fan us. But we did open the windows etc which helped, no way a complaint though and will 100% be returning!

This is one of our favourite local restaurants near our home. The steaks and burgers are always great, and the service is prompt and polite.

Food was nice as it always is but hat to wave arms every time we wanted a drink!!! Shame when there was plenty of staff in.

We spent an afternoon in chipping Sudbury & wanted a early dinner. we could not have asked for a better stop than the squire inn. Service / food / reasonably priced will definitely visit again.

The Squire Inn can do no wrong as far as I am concerned. Food is always great, perfect place for a pint, and always a welcoming place.

Really good food and the burgers were amazing value for money. Fish & chips was also good sized portion. Looking forward to trying a steak soon. Great selection of wine, beer and gin and a lovely looking beer garden. Had quite a few gluten free options on the menu too.

The menu made it look like it was going to be decent but as soon as we walked in it was obvious that it was trying to look like something that it most certainly was not. We nearly left at this point but as we’d come quite a way to meet someone we stuck with it. The staff were a mixed bag, one lovely and one not so much. Some of my meal was served cold but my steak was quite nice although really nothing special. Another steak was dry, tasteless and chewy. Chef needs to go on a course of seasoning and sauce making, they were not good. Desserts were so basic and just standard bought in and sliced up, pop a scoop of ice cream on the side kinda things, the kind of pie they’re making a £6 profit on per slice, very posh pubby, without the posh. Serving peas as the one bit of colour on a £34 steak is unforgivable in my opinion. No self respecting restaurant is doing that these days and my one peas of advice would be to maybe try something different there. Also, either lower your prices or raise your quality as the two don’t really align right now. Although, saying that I’m really not too fussed as I won’t be going back but it might make you a little busier on a Saturday lunchtime. A note to anyone with young kids - it took nearly 2 and half hours to get served some steaks and a few desserts and the place was dead. The only things making this 2 stars were my steak and the good half of the staff’s friendliness, sadly not her attentiveness. Oh and the prices were not the same as on the website and the chips were not steakhouse chips.

I stay in Chipping Sodsbury every year due to work commitments, and always call in to The Squire for food and drinks. Incredible steak and friendly, helpful service. Free ice cream on a Monday night with a main.

Unfortunately disappointing - overpriced. At no point during our meal, or when paying, did a staff member ask how our food was.. if they had we'd have told them! I am not sure if restaurant customers are treated better than those eating in the bar - maybe reduce the cost of the food when dining in the bar if so (and don't put a service charge on bills when you have not tended to your guests!) The 'freshly made' beef mince burger was SO dried out - so dry it was tricky to swallow. And the Veggie risotto did not arrive with the ingredients I was told it would contain. A side of chips is about £4 and the dish is tiny! Real shame as this place is a treat for someone that is on a budget - and I think I wasted my money this time!

Came here for a midweek steak lunch with my Dad. As we walked in we were met with a lovely cosy pub atmosphere and immediately greeted by staff. The Squire Inn offers food at the bar or in their restaurant. We were immediately seated and served with drinks. Both my Dad and I chose the sirlion steak from the steakhouse. Incredible food, well presented by friendly and attentive staff. Sadly we could not sample the desserts as we were both so happily full. Would highly recommend.
