The Springhead in Calderdale

Update your opening hours! States on website food served 9am till 7pm. Called in today stopped food at 4.45pm. Two very hungry out of pocket customers. Taxi’s there and back plus drinks and zero food.

We called at Springhead for breakfast, during a long local walk. As we arrived after 12, they were no longer serving breakfast, and we had to choose from the main menu, or Sunday lunch. We chose a selection of tapas to share. I have to say that everything we had was delicious, and just the right amount for sharing. The waiting staff were all friendly and welcoming. All in all, not what we had planned but we thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return

First visit and I am sure we will be back soon. The eag pudding was excellent and the fish pie was packed with fish and prawns. Can't wait to try other items on the extensive menu. Highly recommended

First time here for breakfast 2/3/25 very nice indeed 3 of us had the regular breakfast 1 had the large breakfast thought it was strange that you had to pay extra if you wanted poached or scrambled egg which in other places we have been they don't but it doesn't take away from the fact it was a delicious breakfast would be nice to have a bit more butter on the toast and have sauces on the table will be back for lunch next time

Excellent in every way. Friendly and welcoming atmosphere on a cold frosty day. Lovely open fire. Loved the brunch menu which was well cooked and substantial. It is some years since my last visit but will be revisiting very soon.

First time to this refurbished eatery and what a pleasant surprise the visit was. Large car park and a very warm welcome from various members of staff on entry. A nice bar area and snug for dining (will try next time) and a separate dining area. All nicely decorated with good view over the valley. An extensive menu and certainly the meals we ordered were freshly cooked and generously proportioned. Prices very reasonable indeed. Definitely worth a visit.

Ordered a ham salad sandwich in the farm shop to take home for lunch. Got it home and I as greater by grey ham. Absolutely disgusting. It had an odour to it all. Messaged the farm shop to resolve. They read the message and ignored me. No surprise they only have 2 star hygiene rating.

Myself and my family had a meal planned which was booked well in advance, with plenty notice given. However, when we arrived we had to wait 15 minutes in the bar, before we were even acknowledged as customers. There didn’t seem to any organisation and staff seemed as though they couldn’t be bothered. Everyone in our group said they were very disappointed.

Just had lunch here, menu very good, bubble and squeak starter hot slow cooked beef sandwich with chips, garlic mushrooms starter followed by chimichanga. Absolutely delicious, staff amazing. 5 stars all round.

rude staff rude owner! me and my partner got asked to leave as we complained about a cold breakfast! Long story short a order came out we was right next to kitchen the waitress walk around fining a table checked till then went back in kitchen with it, it was ours we hadnt realised it was wrong anyway i had ordered avocado and bacon she was walking around with eggs benedict, the waitress then sat at bar eating the eggs benedict anyway few minutes later ours came out mine remade my partners cold, he was going to eat it but i said no its cold we then asked for a new one, for who we got told was the owner to ask is to leave it’s escalated into a argument it was so out order she said my parking swore ( he said f##k it ill eat it) not at staff or to anyone just trying to not be fussy and eat as he was hungry but i said no its cold and it was. This place it lovely food but service is awful and staff and owner are rude unprofessional so if you do go don’t complain and eat what to get or you will get asked to leave!

Constant uninspiring Muzak at an unacceptable level for lunchtime. Average age of diners 75+ - the music played included Janis Joplin, Prince, etc. Why? It’s just not necessary to play this type of music at lunchtime. It spoilt the whole lunchtime experience. Two tables actually complained about it

Went with friends for a Sunday lunch. Staff friendly and welcoming. We’ve all been before and quite recently on a Saturday night and had lovely food. This time, not good at all. We all chose beef Sunday dinners and have to say the meat was as tough as old boots! The boys ate theirs, but said it was ‘chewy’ to say the least. My friend and I just couldn’t chew the meat at all. It looked nice but was inedible. We did tell the staff and they explained it was rump and was cooked in a certain way. Apparently we could have had topside and that might have been tender. Wished we had been advised of this when ordering our meals. We left all our beef. The rest of the lunch was ok. We payed extra for cauliflower cheese which was undercooked and a poor thin sauce. Lacking in green vegetables also. I had two strands of cabbage a couple of carrots and some sweet potato mash. Not the best. We were very disappointed.

Fabulous local place. Eight siblings met for lunch. The staff were happy and courteous and made us feel very welcome. The food was great. All meals were hot, tasty and ample portions. Some of us finished our lovely meal by buying more great food on the farm shop. We will definitely return.

Went for Sunday lunch however had burgers, wow fantastic food, excellent value for money and great service. Will be back

Real fans it's a no go area .It used to be great pub with few guest beers now has poor choice of one if the worst breweries. Landlady has the charm of cruelly de ville and refuses too allow sampling the one real ale Perhaps farmers do not make good landlords Will not be returning

A lovely meal and excellent service. We will be going again and would highly recommend. Very good value for money.

What a find! A lovely experience from start to finish. Attentive staff, lovely setting and the tapas meal we shared was amazing.

Staff very pleasant , food unbelievable. Generous portions all home cooked . Gravy to die for . Salt and pepper chips a revelation . Great Value for money .

Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff. Well stocked bar, great prices. We were there for Sunday lunch which was very tasty and great value. There is a nice outdoor seating area with a covered area. The indoor dining room is well spaced out. The loo’s are clean and spacious - great if you’re a wheelchair user. Nothing was hurried so time for a catch up with our three generation group. We didn’t get chance to check out the shop but I guess we can do that next time?

The worst service I’ve ever had ever! Not one person who worked there smiled at us once, didn’t have alternative milk… come on it’s 2023!!! We had to ask multiple times where two drinks were because they forgot… then they asked us to leave because not all of us ate and said they booked the room out for us and was turning people away even though they could have used two of the empty tables in that room! Then when we paid we were 20p out and they laughed at us and said not sure how you’ve managed to work that out between you… not funny really!! Went to pay but couldn’t pay 20p on card, none of us had our purse… come on it’s 2023 who had actually money now a days!! A random kind stranger who was in there lent us 20p. Will not be going again, I’ve travelled the world and never had such bad service ever!!!

We live about 20 miles away from this place but I am now becoming a regular there as the food is delicious and very reasonably priced. We went for my mum and friend’s Birthdays. Everyone was impressed by the quality and quantity of food. All tasted like homemade food. The staff were extremely friendly and we could have a laugh with them. The bar and restaurant areas are well decorated and very clean. The only problem can be parking because it is such a popular place but there is plenty of parking on the roads near by.

Every time we eat here I’m never disappointed- great selection of home made home grown produce & tasty, hot & reasonably priced meals. Whether it’s breakfast, lunch, tapas or an evening meal , always go away feeling very happy & content. Always a warm welcome too.

The Springhead is in Mount Tabor, a few miles outside of Halifax. It is a farm shop and bar restaurant that got good reviews before we’d planned our cottage stay a mile away. We’re glad we went! The farm shop serves sliced meats, lasagnes, cheeses, cakes, breads, pasties and pies and enormous spicy and plain sausage rolls. After stocking up in the shop we visited the bar and restaurant for a drink. The prices were excellent having experienced farm shops before where the prices are eye watering. The staff are great. We revisited before leaving for home and utilised the butchery and bakers side again. We can’t praise this business more highly.

All the food was cooked impeccably and was priced really well. I'd recommend this place to families and couples. Try the three plates for 15 or take advantage of the 20 percent off burgers and the grill (Tuesdays), you won't be disappointed. Lovely family business and more than willing to chat with you

Visited for the first time yesterday (Saturday 20 August 2022) while visiting friends, and will certainly visit again. We had tapas. It was absolutely great, so tasty and the portions were generous as well. All staff we encountered were really lovely and helpful. Had a really lovely afternoon there.

Left stood there waiting for service. Five members of staff stood chatting them turned their back on us. Don’t think they even noticed me leave when I gave up. Not a single person wearing a face mask. Ignoring covid just like their customers. Neighbours also mentioned the “don’t care” attitude and welcome. Needless to say I won’t be returning.

We purchased our lamb, brisket, sausage and bacon for our Christmas Festivities. The quality is fabulous and we can highly recommend the Spring Head for quality groceries. The staff are pleasant and friendly and most helpful, indeed the team have been invaluable during Covid Lockdown...

Very welcoming feel to the place, covid restrictions all in place so creating a very safe place to be. The staff go above and beyond, chatty and attentive more than 5 stars awarded! 10/10. The food is pretty awesome from the tapas dishes highly recommend...

Staff not very welcoming,The pub was cold fires were left to go almost out, had a couple of drinks and then went home for some warmth.

Went here to try the menu as newly opened, have to say fantastic! Food was all cooked to perfection with three of us going, we ordered fillet and bone steaks, cooked to perfection, well rested with choices of bone marrow mash with beer onions, mushroom...

A lovely spot for coffee or a beer. Very friendly staff. Real fires, modern decor and nice atmosphere
