Overall, the food was not very warm. The paratha was just lukewarm and burnt here and there. I had much better raita: it was more yogurt than anything else. I loved the starter though.

Had a Diwali Party here on 26th Oct 2024. Food was proper Indian. Limited parking. Good small dance floor. Live Jalebi station. Starters, main course were good and included Goat curry, very nice one, butter chicken, rice, naan etc. because of the large crowd service was a bit slow. There was a lady staff member (seems like wife of owner or someone supervising things) in a red one piece dress. She was a bit rude when I went to DJ to request a song. Apart from this, all good. Food is a must try if you want to treat yourself to good authentic Indian spicy food.

I recently visited this spot for a reunion with friends, and despite a slightly dim atmosphere due to some sparingly switched-off lights (which initially made us wonder if it was closed), we soon realized it was all part of a Halloween-themed setup. The decor added an unexpected touch of seasonal charm, making it feel festive and fun. We kicked things off with starters: Chicken Tandoori, Goan Fish Cutlet, and a veg platter. All were super flavorful, with the chicken especially standing out for its succulent texture, and the samosas were a delightful, crispy treat. It was easy to see that the new management has really transformed this place from its pub days into a restaurant with a cozy, service-oriented vibe. The staff, particularly Khusbhoo and Alina, were attentive and friendly, which made the experience all the more enjoyable. For our main course, we opted for the Punjabi Chicken Tikka and Railway Lamb Curry, paired with roti and naan. Both curries delivered good flavor, with rich, satisfying sauces that leaned slightly above average in taste, though not mind-blowing. To finish, we had Gajar Halwa with ice cream, which was decent, though the texture of the halwa could use improvement. Overall, the quality service made up for any minor culinary imperfections. This restaurant brings a warm, welcoming feel, perfect for a relaxed get-together, and the attentive staff ensured we were well taken care of throughout our meal. Looking forward to seeing how they continue to evolve the menu under this new management!

Amazing food and with the option of decent local real ales as well. This is one of the best authentic indian restaurants we have visited. So lucky it's just up the road for us as well. Looking forward to our next visit.

Regularly come to "The Spread Eagle" for the Thursday quiz. Free to enter - helpful if you're rubbish - and (cheap) bottle of wine for the winning team. There's a section of the pub cordoned off for an Indian restaurant and the food - which can be ordered to the pub section - is very good. Location isn't brilliant for the staff and patrons are all friendly.

Delicious 😋 we had a mix of vegan, veggie and meat options - all were fantastic!

The food was all delicious; my wife and I particularly enjoyed the prawn moilee, railway lamb and onion bhajia

The place is very happening with wide range of Indian dishes. I am very delighted to have biryanis here. Must visit for Indian food if you are in Reading.

Went there as a group of 30 for a match. Good selection of food items on the buffet menu for the price.

This is actually a very good and authentic Indian restaurant. We took a risk, but not let down. I think because of its location it’s not as popular as some so-called Indian restaurants in the Reading town centre. A rebranded restaurant inside a pub. The taste was excellent, had Railway Lamb, Lachha paratha, Fried rice (fried rice even though it’s not in the menu), Tandoori chicken, Tadka Dhaal and some more. All the items were good. We will visit again. Definitely worth a visit at least once to checkout.

The Best lunch spread I have been to. There was a large selection of vegetable and non-veg dishes.The were all very delicious. The service was quick and staff were serving with smile. And the beer was excellent.

We have been here multiple times for different occasions and every time the food has been awesomely delicious, the staff very very friendly with a great ambience that everyone can enjoy.

Visited because it is on the ale trail but I honestly don't know why, they don't really care about ale. I wouldn't return. But this is not a review of the Indian food, we did not eat.

Bagheera is very near from my home and the food was very delicious also the food taste reminds me Indian food taste. Service also very good and cleanliness and well maintained everything.

Food was really nice , specially aloo tikki chaat flavour , test was very orthentic. Paneer kadai was testy too. Butter naan was very soft & properly cooked . Service from the staff was very good . Overall good experience.

It is one of the best Indian restaurants in the neighborhood. Takes time to prepare food, not like other quick-service-restuarants you find on Oxford road. Brilliant ambiance. We attended a birthday party there. The food was so nice. Also, they have an attached sports-bar area, which is a plus. They have Indian buffet every Sunday till 4 PM.

Very nice food and great veggie options. Highly recommend the Patta chaat. One slight improvement area could be the chicken selection- which is a tad bog standard. But everything does take great.

They have VERY poor signage in place that says apparently you have to register - I did not see this on entry to the car park or the pub, the waiter did not inform us either. I received a £60 fine and called the restaurant multiple times about this, was assured multiple times the ticket would be cancelled, only to find out now that weeks later it still isn’t and the fine has gone up to £100. It’s a ridiculous system, a rip off and they are not truthful to customers, and I will never ever dine here again given this is how they value customers.

Seated 11 of us (including 2 infants) in the restaurant section. Everyone loved the food, I can personally recommend the Punjabi fish fry and the railway lamb. They were very accommodating in providing us with to go boxes so we can take home what we didn't finish. Will 100% be coming again. Also they do a pub quiz on Thursday nights so will be going to that too.

Still a very nice, lively neighbourhood pub/restaurant. The food was nice but our chicken dishes somehow tasted of fish. Don't know how that's possible? They could also do with a wider selection of beer (IPA) again. I've come here for many years and the selection used to be better. Lovely, helpful staff, though.

Dog friendly, good food, drinks are reasonably priced and has heated outdoor area. Free quiz night on Thursdays and kids are allowed until 21.00h. Recently changed owners and now has a separate dining area. Food is still delicious. The fish curry and paneer jalfrezi are delicious.

I ate at this restaurant on Friday evening as part of a large party. We had a great meal. I had the railway lamb curry that was really tender and tasty. The staff were very helpful. Will definitely return. You can park in the pub car park after registering your car number plate.

I came in here for a drink with a friend and was left waiting at the bar for about 10 minutes even though 3 bar staff saw me. The last time I came in the experience was much better I'm not entirely sure what has changed.
