A limited menu and a bit pricy but food was ok and good portion sizes. No specials and not great for vegetarians. The place was dead on a Saturday evening and, despite having booked, we felt rushed through and staff started shutting up shop just after 9pm so we ended up having to cut our evening short as there is nowhere else close by. Previous experiences, during the day, have been much more positive but I would avoid going in the evening. No atmosphere and made to feel like we were a nuisance. Customers should be informed, when booking, that they close early if quiet and you will be required to leave.

Brilliant venue, staff were excellent and clearly well trained.

Way over priced! Food was ok nothing special. The service was poor and unprofessional. Won't be visiting again which is a shame as I live local.

A lovely pub/restaurant, excellent food & helpful staff. We had the Sunday carvery - 3 choices of meat, my personal favourite was the beef, pink & super tender. Loads of veg to choose from & plenty accompaniments.

Manager has a horrible attitude, spoke rudely to multiple people on that day. Food was quite bland. But the service is honestly shocking

Love this place. Always a friendly face and they are very obliging. Great environment to chill out in after a walk in the local area. Great menu catering for all dietary needs. Good portions and excellent value for money. I would recommend. Large car park.

It doesn't look fancy, but there's a lot of heart here. The first thing that strikes you is the attentive and friendly service, all regular guests are greeted by their first name and are served exactly what they want, no questions asked. The food is hearty and tasty and the portions large. Can only recommend a visit to the Sportsmans Inn to anyone who is in these parts.

This is a first class pub and restaurant situated in lovely countryside necabr to Greetland just south of Halifax. There is plenty of parking and opportunities to dine inside or outside. This is a dog friendly pub and the service from the staff was exceptional. There is an extensive menu and the food is absolutely first class. Well worth more visits.

Yesterday we ate at the Sportsman to Celebrate my husband 70th Birthday.From my telephone call with Max to book a table for our family of 13 to having our meal, it was brilliant.Max and his team couldn't have done enough for us.Food was Very good and certainly would recommend.Thankyou so much.

This is a cosy country pub and restaurant, slightly off the beaten track, but well worth a visit. The menu choice is extensive, and the food is second to none. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. There is a large indoor restaurant as well as a lovely outdoor area. This is a dog friendly pub with a large parking area. The Sportsman is situated in Greetland well out of Halifax. I shall certainly dine here again.

We were looking for a dog friendly pub with easy access, to meet up with extended family. The Sportsman’s Inn was a brilliant location with good facilities, especially for 8 of us and 2 dogs. The staff were perfect. We were greeted as we arrived and shown straight to our table. Such a friendly and efficient service, we felt very welcome. Our dietary requirements were easily accommodated and we did not have to wait long for our food to arrive. Lunch was very tasty, easy to see from all the empty plates. We would definitely recommend this pub as a good place to visit.

We had a steak with onion rings, pepper sauce, and chips, peas and tomatoes. Well presented and piping hot, it was excellent. The staff were all working as a team and attentive . Definitely I would recommend The Sportsman to friends .

A LOVELY evening on our wedding anniversary. Staff attentive ,&friendly. The meal was extremely well presented excellent quality and good size portions. One important point for us is that the meal was hot & served in hot plates. This can be a failing in many restaurants which is not realy acceptable. Will most definitely be visiting again .

Golden Wedding Celebration at the Sportsman - Faultless. Staff could not have been more superb. The meal was fabulous and everyone enjoyed the atmosphere, service, food and wine. We would recommend the Sportsman for all to enjoy - and you won't break the bank, very good value for money. TRY IT!

Food was lovely. Was around 20 of us with different starters and mains everyone was happy with.

Called in for lunch as we were passing, never been before so decided to give it a go. Lovely welcome from the staff when entering and was soon found a table, quick drink service and not long for the food to be ordered and to arrive. I ordered a burger topped with chicken and chorizo with melted mozzarella with fries and can honestly say it was the best burger I have eaten in any pub I have visited. Piping hot and full of flavour. Prices were great as well 2 meals, 2 pints of coke £33. Absolute bargain for what we had. Left full up and happy. I hope the staff get to see this as I did mention how good itvwas to the lady when paying. We will be back for sure

Not the cheapest, but the food is excellent, and the service is unbeatable. Those of our party who had the fish and chips commented that the fillets were a little small. The desserts are also pricey, but are very tasty and well presented. The atmosphere is good, but a wee bit leaning towards sports bar rather than cosy eatery. It's not stopped this from becoming our go-to venue when in the area though. I'll be having the deep-fried brie again for sure.

We visited the Sportsman on Good Friday following a family Easter walk. There were 14 of us dining and because of the number we were asked to pre-order our main course, which was fine. We were made very welcome by the staff on arrival. We had a really nice table ready for us. Our food arrived pretty quickly after arrival. All the food was really nice, all the meals arrived in a timely fashion and were nice and hot. A couple of diners requested extra gravy and this was accommodated without any question. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we all ordered a dessert. Overall a very enjoyable experience and we’ll definitely be returning.

A FANTASTIC evening was had by ALL Hubberton Hikers. Lovely food, service and ambience.

Well worth the 40 mile round trip

We've just been back to the Sportsman. Another good experience very similar to last time. It is great to see consistently in service and dining. This is what I said two weeks ago... Excellent visit to the Sportsman last night. The staff were friendly and professional. The food was excellent with hearty potions and all at a fair price. The beer was good too. Recommended

I had my wedding reception here and go for a meal on our aniversary for 32 years. Excelant Sunday roast at great price.

Lovely welcoming place booked last minute food was lovely 3 courses £18.50 lovely choice too. Would recommend a visit.

Called in around noon for some food. It's reasonable in terms of value. The brisket was lovely, very tender. Proper Yorkshire pudding and a nice rich gravy. The burger was a good size, but a little dry. More sauce would have been better. I prefer my burgers a little less done than it was, it helps keep it juicy. I wasn't asked how I would like it cooked. The staff were friendly and attentive, very welcoming, but maintained professionalism. There wasn't much of an atmosphere, as it was very quiet, due to the time. There was some ambient music on, and I can imagine it being a good atmosphere peak times. Car park is plenty big enough and it is easy to find. I'd go again and would recommend it for other people who might be passing and looking for somewhere to eat.

Outstanding service and food for our large party to celebrate a significant birthday. The management and staff went out of their way to make it special.

Great place, service is second to non, very friendly staff. We've been for quite a few meals as well as Christmas dinner and it's always spot on 👌

Service was excellent and very attentive, we had the 12oz gammon with both pineapple and egg. Gammon was a little on the tough side but, still very palatable. Our friends had the steak (which she thought was fine) and our other friend had the sweet chilli chicken on flat bread, which he liked but, did say it was a bit hot 🥵. All told a god night and will visit again.

Gone from one of my favourites to rather not go at all Went for first time last night in a while and it was shockingly bad I don't even Nedd to write why they can read it and know why no carrots so they gave my gf carrot shavings out of the bin

The plates and cutlery were immaculately clean at 6:34pm - the kitchen porter needs more recognition for his incredible behind the scenes work!!

We were well looked after. We were a party of 14 plus two dogs. The food was great. I had a steak and ale pie, gorgeous. They do a good deal of two mains and a bottle of wine for £35. We were well looked after.

Went on a sunday for a carvery, my partner ordered off the normal menu. The food was fresh, tasty and quite good portions. The restaurant area was spacious and clean. I didn't feel crammed in or that it was too busy even though it was quite busy.

Been going here for a long time. It was really good, as usual. The carvery is excellent.

This used to be my local many years ago. I'm so glad the beer is still kept perfectly. Nice pub grub too and very good prices. They also have a special February offer which is incredible value for money.

BRILLIANT! Friendly staff, inviting and comfortable environment. Arrived to do some work and decided to stay for food. The food was very good, well presented and even had the fireplace going to keep the place warm. Would recommend this establishment 10/10

Very nice and clean Pub. Staff helpful and polite and friendly. Good selection of alcohol on offer. Menu not too huge but had a good selection. Haddock and chips excellent. Well worth a visit for sure. I will be going again.

Visited two weeks and I would give more stars if possible. Always brilliant food and service but Mark and his team went above and beyond this time. In order to accommodate one of party, who required some additional Covid precautions (due to various treatments), the team made us feel so very welcome and really went the extra mile to ensure a safe and fabulous visit.
