duke william in Calderdale

We’ve been a fair few times for Sunday lunch, which is always spot on. We choose here over other local pubs because I am vegetarian and they have a vegetarian Sunday lunch option, with veggie gravy, veggie Yorkshire pudding etc, so I don’t have to ask for something different and feel awkward. I often take my own gravy to places and ask for the Sunday lunch without meat, but no need here. Because it was warm we went for something different (again, great veggie choices) again, food, service and drinks were spot on. Amazing value for money too! Lovely people running the place, a must visit for those who enjoy good pub grub, good music and fabulous attentive service.

Tapas amazing staff could nt do too much for you bottomless meal so worth it was well looked after

Omg took the misses for sunday dinner it was to die for The pudding was a chocolate browny with custard delicious Vicki the owner you made a great dinner Dian your service from entering and leaving is superb 👌

They always put on a great bonfire and fireworks display.

First night dinner they ran out of food. For our first breakfast we had to wait nearly 30 minutes. Drink a reasonable price, room very clean. The bathroom could do with a sign to warn about how hot the water is and more non slip dots in the bath and a hand rail in the bath for people to grab onto. The reception and bar staff were very well mannered and nothing was a bother. We will go again

Called in here for Sunday dinner after doing the Shibden Hall walk, compliments to the chef the food was one of the best roasts I've had, the garlic mushrooms are def the best around, we were a group of 7 and everyone was complimenting the food - friendly staff and the regulars were welcoming - would definitely return

We came to this pub on the 17th of March 2022 for Saint Patrick’s Day. It was amazing then and we really enjoyed it. We came back on the 17th of March 2023 again for Saint Patrick’s Day and it has not changed at all. The pub is a good old-fashioned pub, just how it should be, the staff are so helpful, friendly, polite and the service is first class. The singers were amazing and we had a brilliant evening and it is definitely a wonderful place to come to. They served food on the evening and again that was absolutely wonderful. We could not have been happier. The staff here should be so very very proud of themselves as they do an amazing job at keeping excellent beer, especially the Guinness well done everyone. You should be so very proud of yourselves. Please be aware that this pub does have a step within the pub and therefore is not wheelchair accessible. If you like a good old-fashioned pub, please come here and visit it as I am sure you will not be disappointed. I look forward to coming back here again next year.

We stayed for a few drinks on bonfire night . The bar was busy , but to be expected on a busy night . I was having a good night until I needed the toilet ! The toilets are awful , there is mold on the wall behind the loo ! This has put me off visiting this pub again !My husband told me that the gents aren’t any better !!! The toilets need sorting out !

We sat outside on a lovely sunny day. Good beer , if not a tad on the expensive side, and lovely drinking area. Service was a bit slow to be fair hence one star down.

Went in for the steak night. I went for the curry special - curry with chips, rice, naan bread, samosa, bargi and a bottle of beer for £10 each - BARGAIN!

A brilliant venue. Good choice of drinks and fantastic food offering steak night and Tapas evening on Thursdays and an extensive Sunday lunch menu. Covid guidelines followed to the letter with table bookings, one-way system and table service and a number of antibacterial stations made available for customers. 5 star

Totally amazing take out, everything still very hot and the best take out I have had in my life. Not sure what I am going to try next but tonight we had the gammon and also southern fried chicken. Value for money as the left overs will be tea tomorrow. Very very tasty.

We haven’t visited The Duke of William but we have had a delivery of their food. The service was fab and the food was great. Well cooked and good quality.

Went yesterday for 3 course meal. all food looked amazing and tasted amazing to. Great value for the money and cheap drinks. All staff are friendly and welcoming. Will be visiting again for sure

Literally a MUST visit for a Sunday lunch. WOW! The toilet scent upon entering the premises is a little overpowering however the decor has been updated in recent years and the welcome from staff is friendly so what’s a little bit of stale urine?! Plenty of parking and seating, log burner and drink choice is fair - possibly a bit pricey but where isn’t?! Not sure about the other food but Sunday lunch was brill.

The atmosphere here is amazing, staff are fantastic always friendly : The food is gorgeous & they have entertainment on weekends & some weekdays. We always have a laugh here wether we be just having a drink or eating never had a bad visit to the duke love it

Friendly atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food is excellent with different food on different niights. Reasonably priced food with drinks included in some meals. Would definitely recommend this as a place to visit.

We found this pub after seeing it on facebook and tried it last sunday, one word, WOW. The food was absolutely lovely all home cooked and priced very reasonable. Cant fault it at all, well worth a visit.

while on a pub crawl round shelf we ventured into ths lovely boozer the beer was nice and the barstaff was polite and knew how to pull a pint

I went here for a meal with friends last Thursday I had never been before But saw that there were great reviews on TA I was not disappointed The meal was really good Excellent ingredients the meat is from Keelham farm so I know that's good I had chicken faritjas The chicken was perfectly cooked & nicely spicy & it was a big helping Very tasty ! the others had beef & turkey & al said the food was great Desserts was fab as well The staff were very attentive & its a very friendly place We went back on Saturday to watch a very good band Natural Rythem who were playing there

What can isay, I love this place, friendly staff who make you feel welcome, brill food at excellent prices, service with a smile, nothing was too much we booked for 8 adults and 4 children, they were so good with us all, would defo recommend this place

Every time we go to the Duke we are welcomed so warmly by Neil and the other staff. We have only had pie and peas and a couple of sandwiches with chips and it has all been brilliant. I would recommend this pub to anyone it has all sorts going on, it is also a busy pub which is great in this day and age trend of pubs closing daily

Never had food like it.. Had the mixed grill. Wow! And a very good reasonable price. The service was also excellent. Will definitely visit again.

Had a lovely trip to this pub. Staff were so friendly and made us feel really welcome and relaxed, even with 3 hyper children. Ordered two kids meals, they were both so tasty and brilliantly presented. Two fussy children really enjoyed it! Will definitely be back!

Been here a couple of times now food is lovely all home made and great value for money. Bar man was welcoming, friendly and really helpful.

El personal era extremadamente amable y acogedor y el lugar en sí tiene un ambiente encantador. Sin duda volveré pronto y recomendar a mis amigos y familiares.

Este lugar es mucho mejor ahora que ha sido tomada y han hecho un cambio interior, es mucho más amables que buscan y no tan descuidado. Yo estaba aquí el domingo por la noche y tenían un DJ que ella era divertido y cada noche...

The food here is gorgeous, eight of us ate here this Sunday & all the meals were lovely, good hearty portions even kids meals were plentiful with ice-cream included, we have had steak night here once b4 which I can say was gorgeous & I got the steak cooked exactly how I asked for it doing. I would advise any1 to eat here , great place with great friendly staff

Been here with friends the place was clean and the beer was cheap went on the Sunday.. for the Sunday dinner but the chief was off so they said we can have the steak offer so we had that the 6 of us steak was cooked to what you liked came out on like a wooden chopping board chips onion rings small mushrooms fried tomoto and a side salad and it was very nice. Afters I had the cornflake tart with custard and very nice too

Ate here with friends on their first steak night. Could not complain about anything steaks were cooked to everyone's liking. Value for money unbeatable at £14.95 for two 10 ounce steaks and a bottle of wine. Would highly recommend the Duke really good atmosphere also

Been here on many ocasions the fish & chips are just the best, excellent service.
