The Spiced Mango in Wakefield

First time eating here, I went with my mum & sister Mum is in a wheelchair and they couldn’t help her any more than they did !! Their customer service is amazing, their service is fantastic and their food is gorgeous (good size portions and tasty) We will definitely be going again Highly recommend a visit

My family & I have just enjoyed a meal at this venue. The car park was semi-frozen, though staff said that it had been cleared a little earlier and suffers from drainage. It was a little precarious, but most days are not ice days. We really enjoyed the place and food, and the staff seemed pleasant. My daughter would have preferred music a little more upbeat, maybe good old Abba. I quite liked the Indian music, befitting an Indian restaurant.

We come to eat in normally but we have had a home delivery today it was really lovely just the same as eating in your lovely restaurant thank you so much and your delivery driver was so nice thank you xxxx

My chicken balti was amongst the finest curries I ever eaten. Rich, deep flavourful sauce, big chunks of quality chickenbreast. A lovely naan bread to boot, perfect size for one. The onion bhaji starter was spot on too. Great service.

I had a deeply disappointing experience at this restaurant. While dining, the bartender and one of the waiters insulted my friends and me in their language, assuming I wouldn't understand. As someone who has traveled extensively in Asia, I am familiar with their language and was shocked by their blatant disrespect. Throughout the evening, they exchanged comments and laughed at our expense while serving drinks. This kind of unprofessional and offensive behavior is completely unacceptable in any establishment. I would strongly advise others to avoid this place until they address such issues with their staff.

What a lovely place. The food is amazing. Great selection to choose from. Good prices, good beer, service fantastic. Staff couldn't do enough for us and had a great sense of humour . Didn't feel rushed, very friendly place. Definitely highly recommended

Very warm welcome on entering. There were a lot of people, though, and it was some part chaotic, some part busy. I ordered a spicy version of the tika massala, and I'm sad to say it wasn't spicy at all. It was fair of flavour but didn't stand out. The drinks were served promptly, and the service was friendly. I would visit again but would chose something different.

Now one of our favorite Indians, we came as a big group for my girlfriends birthday and they looked after us and was very good with the orders. Plenty of meat (please keep it up) and big rice portions. The food is really tasty and the mixed madras I get is one of the best I've had around Leeds. Recommended to me and I'm glad I visited and I now recommend this to others I know.

Probably our new favourite restaurant! The food is just that bit different from your usual Indian restaurant. The service is superb, with friendly attentive staff who always stop and chat to you when they are serving of clearing away. Oh, and did I mention that the food is fabulous! Well worth the effort to go and have a meal - I would recommend booking. BTW, the car park is a bit tight!!

4 of us tonight booked in for 19:00. So on arrival greeted by the staff and offered drinks before we sat down at the table. Helpful staff here and give us plenty of time to ponder over the rather large choice’s on offer menu wise. Ordered up … now there’s plenty when it arrives it’s hot has well (tick the box) . So over to myself reviewing Starters mixed was ok the chops was a bit stringy strange onion bargies but ok Mains … plenty of rice in-fact maybe too much ? , with the other 3 ordering mushroom basmiti and firecracker rice sharing out still left us plenty on the leftover plates. Garlic nan bread fair enough that’s fine I took chicken rogan josh for the mains, I’m personally speaking for myself here i thought it was the sweetest one I’ve ever had … I’d expect Caspian tomato based with spices … yes something different but not what I expected Coffee afterwards the cream floater was very good. So in conclusion I’d say it’s good ….. busy place packed out between 7-9 mid week (Wednesday) so it popular place. Would we return ? Not sure

The restaurant is inviting with a contemporary high standard decor. Staff were very welcoming, helpful and also knowledgeable when we asked questions about the dishes on the menu. The food was amazing, fresh and tasty - we particularly liked the fish pakora that came on the sharing platter. We will definitely back in fact we are already planning our next visit!

The worst curry I have ever had. Got a takeaway as a treat which wasn’t cheap at all. Starters were very small for £14 . Mains: burnt spinach and chicken palak, tikka masal was so bloomin sweet , paneer with pickled shallots (pickled onions chucked on the dish ). At least the rice was ok ….

My curry had mango in it which I was hoping would be a subtle twist but made the curry almost inedibly sweet. The chicken seemed over cooked to me. The staff were pleasant enough but there are much better Indian restaurants in the area.

We've been eating here regularly for years, the food and service are consistently good. Staff are friendly and welcoming from arrival. It's clean and nicely decorated. It's generally busy so worth booking especially on weekends. Children are welcome. There are some English child friendly options, not had these for a while though. Portion sizes are generous and I'd recommend sylethi paratha and bindi ghosh.

Not good at all .. £90 for a takeaway.. really disappointed as everyone raves about it .. tried here as our usual Indian was closed .. the chicken tikka was more a korma all you could taste was coconut very runny Chicken tikka main was tasteless .. really disappointed.. will not be ordering again ..

Sorry this is not for us. Food was not authentic. It was expensive for what it was. We would not recommend. We would not return. Stars given were for the friendly staff on hand to serve.

Best chicken biriyani I can remember having. Biriyanis can be a bit of a gamble but the last two I’ve had here have been superb. The staff are friendly, professional and provide a good service. They even insist on opening the door for you as you leave

This was our first time at the restaurant, and the staff made us feel so welcome with their warm smiles. We decided to try the lamb masala, and it was absolutely delicious. What stood out the most was the young and friendly bartender. He didn't just serve our drinks; he went the extra mile by calling a taxi for us when it was time to go. That was outstanding service.

We visited on a Monday night, expecting it to be quiet, yet there were plenty of people in. Which I'm guessing why this place has favourable reviews. I had the Spicy Tandoori Lamb Chops to start, followed by the Spiced Cinnamon Duck. The chops were ever so slightly dry (I prefer them nice and juicy), but the flavour was great. The main course however was a revelation! I must admit, it doesn't look amazing in the photo, but it tasted fabulous. If a little pricey at £19.95. The service was great and the staff were friendly. The place looked clean and done up like you'd expect a lot of Indian restaurants to be. I'll definitely be visiting again.

Go somewhere else if you enjoy good food, the monk fish was terrible, can get better service just down the road and better food

If you want an amazing meal with friendly staff, do visit here. We were welcomed by a young man opening the door for us and seated straight away (I booked in advance) in a very busy restaurant. Drinks were fast to arrive and not a long wait for our starters. I chose paneer which came on a sizzler plate. Very nice indeed. For main I chose chicken balti which was superb. Plenty of meat in a delicious sauce. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Baileys coffee to finish which was good. We paid the friendly man at the bar who always has time to chat even though he’s super busy. He even opens the door as you leave. Excellent as always!

Had a decent meal with friendly staff. My chicken karahi was a bit bland though. I'll ask for more fresh garlic and fresh ginger next time.

I haven’t been here for over a year and am not a regular visitor by any means. Was out with my dad and brother for a few beers around Horbury and we booked as it had always been decent. I say it’s always been decent, it’s always been good. But wow, tonight was something special. Had the fantastic lamb chops to start. They put competitors’ versions to shame, I can’t work out how they can do them for. £5.50 or so. Fabulous. For mains I went for one of the healthier curries. The waiter recommended one. I can’t remember the name, it’s not one I’ve had before. King prawn. The taste was unbelievable and no fat or ghee in this. Not cheap at about £14 but packed with king prawns, so not cheap but value. They had loads of staff on, brilliant service, the lads could not do enough for you. You will struggle to find many restaurants better in the area than this. I eat out a lot through my business, all over the UK and this is probably the best meal I’ve had in the past year or more. I won’t leave it so long next time. Keep it up!

Waiter with glasses constantly kept on sneezing near my table and who probably had covid had zero sense of concern for his surroundings. He had a horrible body odour and was being watched by bar staff as it became quite obvious he was sick. Its a shame to say I have visited a few times for catch up with a friends, across 3-4 weeks and it has been appalling for hygiene. The unprofessional service received has costed The Spiced Mango their credibility. Will not be visiting again due to lack of customer service by that particular waiter.

Staff really nice, food really poor. Too many good food outlets to waste your time here. We used to enjoy this place and the food but for the last year not so - last night was the worst ever - spoke to the manager / boss, no joy, wasn’t interested in our issues. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME HERE Like I said TO MANY GOOD FOOD RESTAURANTS TO CHOSE FROM.

What a fantastic restaurant. We booked our anniversary dinner here on a friend's recommendation, and we weren't disappointed. Both the starters and mains were delicious. We can highly recommend the Spiced Monkfish. The staff are so friendly and the service is excellent, and very reasonably priced too.

We decided to visit the Spiced Mango after hearing lots of good things about it. The restaurant is nicely decorated and spotless. After a short wait we were shown to a table towards the back. Thats when it all went downhill. A long wait for drinks and food orders then nearly an hour waiting for underwhelming food. The Bengal Lamb was bland and just tasted of tomato. Never cooked in strong spices as the menu says. No heat, no spice just tomato. Partner had the firecracker chicken which was hot but dry with large chunks of onion like it had been hacked by a blind woodsman. A small garlic and cheese nan with no garlic or cheese, so a plain nan. There seems to be a priority on the Just Eat deliveries given the number of times the delivery driver came and went over seated clients After asking for the bill numerous times and 2 hours later we finally escaped this ordeal. Never, ever again!!

Be prepared for long waits and poor service. Bengal Lamb was bland with no spice or heat - basically in a tomato sauce. Firecracker chicken was dry and hot with huge chunks of onion. Over 2 hours in here only to be served underwhelming food. Never again!

First take-away from The Spiced Mango. Simply amazing, Mixed Starter, Aromatic Lamb Handi, Naan, Poppadoms +usual sundries. Delivered within time advised, food gorgeous, can't wait to make my way through the menu.

We had a voucher for a Christmas resent and waited for this week to celebrate being a successful partnership for 48 years -the Mango Spice is a restaurant I have said we would love to try to my family and friends- we arrived 15 minutes earlier than booked and was offered our reserved table within a few minutes-the service was quick courteous and rapid from start to finnish- -our food was brilliant my lamb dish was one of the best ive ever had my wife had a chicken methi- the portions are quite large compared to other local restaurants and although we absolutely enjoyed ourselves we had to box up almost half of the meal ordered- absolute quality and value for money- we will return soon Graham & Julie D

If you want to enjoy this food I suggest you order a takeaway. Or don't go at the weekend. Possibly JustEat takes priority over customers who have booked tables? Saw many deliveries in thermal bags leaving the kitchen rather than full plates for hungry punters. Waited far too long for our food and were just about to walk out when the starters arrived. An hour and a half hours from arrival to eating. Food was good. But then again we were so hungry we would have eaten the tablecloth!

Great food, some different dishes which is always a nice change. Friendly service and some of the waiters have literally been there years, which is surely a good sign?! We visited New Years Eve, and had starters and mains with popadoms and dips, and a drink each, and I think for £57 it was fantastic value. Good parking and easy to find too. I literally haven’t got a bad word to say at all!

Hands down the worst take away I've had in years. We ordered a Jalfrezi, the onions were literally raw, the potatoes were far too big, again under done in a bland tomato sauce, little to no actual flavour. We got a Biryani, which was actually not half bad but not enough to make up for the rest. That came with a free sauce which honestly we could've rather not had, it was vile. We got a Tandoori Roti, it was sweaty, cold and completely tasteless. We got chips but they were just standard bag chips, meh. The Onion Bhajis cold out the box and onions were raw. The best things about it were honestly the pop padoms :') We've eaten here loads before, in house, and it's been fantastic, but avoid the takeaways at all cost. We drove out of our way and paid £30 for a tasteless mush.

Top place, a traditional curry house but with 1st class cuisine. Parking is limited, great local pub across the road. Staff very attentive, will be back.
