Al-Jamil in Wakefield

Ordered delivery, Only thing that was nice was the boiled rice and the onion bajis. Chicken nuggets were rock hard and my 4 year old couldnt eat them, chips were soggy and tasted like they were either microwaved or lived a happy life in a pool of fat before making their way to my plate. Curries didnt taste like anything (balti and dopiza) and couldnt tell the difference between the 2. The final peice la resistance was the chapatis.. thick, heavy and lack taste. Would have had more chance eating a rubber Frisbee in honesty. Cost £40 and will never order again... had to cook for my boy as he wouldnt eat any of it. Do not recommend!

Lovely food, not too greasy like many. Good portions ie cartons full and medium curry was perfectly spiced. Onion bhaji was in a ring rather than a ball but tasted lovely and not stodgy. Will def use again!

Ordered 2 Kormas, they did not take like a korma and were slightly spicy. I can't handle spice at all so I struggled eating it, and it was a real disappointment.

We went here for our wedding anniversary with the family following a recommendation made by my daughter's boyfriend. The waiter was amazing and couldn't do enough to ensure we enjoyed our meal . I had the Balti king prawn makhani which I've never had before but it was amazing . In fact I couldn't eat it fast enough as it was so good . I shared a special sharing platter with hubbie and the flavours and variety was outstanding. You can bring your own drinks but we'd travelled from county Durham so opted to have soft drinks there. It's a shame the restaurant wasn't busy but we went early on a Thursday. We are already planning our next trip there. Also the cost was so cheap considering the 4 of us had dips,poppadoms,2 nan bread,starters,mains and rice as well as soft drinks.

The main course was delicious as was the raita. Bombay pots and naan were very nice. All told an Indian delivery that was worth every penny. ACE.

Spur of the moment decision! Chicken Tikka and Mushroom Balti, Nan, Boiled Rice, Mushroom Bhaji- arrived early, hot, spicy and…..DELICIOUS!!!! Period.

Good biryani but needs to have more sauce, and just wish the naan bread was bigger and had more garlic. But only small faults. But what was delivered early was good quality.

Been going here for years, it's very traditional and lovely consistently good food, very reasonably priced. Great varied menu and pretty quick service. If they kids want a chicken nugget and chips as an alternative they will do this also (no kids menu as such). Don't expect a high level venue as this is how traditional food should be, rather than having to say high prices in a glossy decor venue..I definitely rate the food as traditional, authentic, great quality and wonderfully tasty. Friendly staff and such good value. If you want food served the way it should be, without all that glamour of an expensive high class restaurant, then head here. Soooo nice.

I don't know what world I'm living in where Tikka Masala is yellowy brown and tastes like it's been swimming in chicken broth but I'm apparently I'm there. Also the "chicken tikka" is basically just chicken cooked in onions with 0 seasoning. Fire whatever 14 year old cook you pulled off the street because I would rather have paid you to stay at the restaurant and cooked my own. Delivery was decent and on time though

Possibly the worst curry I’ve had, I used to order from here quite a lot but never again. Ordered a dopiaza and a Korma. They both tasted like a stew not a curry. Bizarre. If you want a curry, I’d go elsewhere

The food was hideous! The rice had a weird vinegar taste to it. The curry was really bland. Really disappointed to have wasted nearly £20 on a meal i had to throw away.

First time ive ordered from here, after reading reviews i thought id try it. All my food was dry. The chicken chaat had no sauce and the chicken tikka balti garlic, the chicken was dry and tough (like a brick) .

Ordered for delivery one the nicest curry’s I’ve had in a while, great prices however shame regarding the deliver times.

First time ordering from Al-Jamil Balti Restaurant, did a pre-order before the restaurant was open and really pleased that it was actually delivered early by a really friendly driver. All the food was warm which was good. Really impressed with the Special Starter, it was really plentiful with something for everyone, did find the lamb chop a little chewy but it was still tasty and my wife was a bit disappointed with the onion bhajis as they were different to what we are used to (bit more like onion rings) but I enjoyed them. The pliau rice was good and we really enjoyed the special rice. We enjoyed both of our main courses (Chicken Tikka Hyderabadi and Chicken Tikka Garlic Balti) not too spicy and flavourful and lots of chicken. The only other thing we were a little disappointed with was the Garlic Naan, it was a bit chewy and we prefer it with more garlic topping but that could be personal preference. We will definitely use Al-Jamil again.
