Friendly place, great breakfast and coffee. Sausage and bacon baguette was perfect!

Been here before and had great service, food is always decent and prompt, even when it's busy. Not today. Ordered a drink and a toastie. After 25 mins, no show. Had to chase the lady who took the order as I was in my lunch break. She was very gracious but was interrupted by a colleague who said 'that's why we tell people we are busy and there may be a wait.' I said I wasn't told that and if so, I wouldn't have ordered. She said 'we will do it as a takeaway and walked off. I wasn't given a choice or even had the opportunity to say I am unable to eat takeaway food at work so would prefer a refund. She just left me standing at the counter. Another customer who overheard said to me 'that one always has an attitude.' Another colleague came out with the food a few mins later. No apology, nothing. Disappointed as I really have always liked this place. Maybe she was having an "off" day!

Really friendly place, very popular and great coffee!

The decaf coffee is always good in here and comes with a biscuit. We usually have a piece of the gluten free cake which is usually very good; sadly this week the cake was dry otherwise I would have given it a five star. The staff are friendly and service is good.

Would have given 5 star if the leek & Potato soup wasn't spoilt by the overpowering amount of pepper.

Only had coffees but they were really good. The atmosphere was very friendly which made it an enjoyable experience.

Nothing Special - I visited The Snug and few times this year and I was never super impressed. The coffee is pretty good but the food is bland, and the seating options aren’t great. The staff were also hit or miss; some were kind while others were fairly dismissive and not the most friendly. It’s a fine place to stop for half an hour to chat with friends, but if you plan on staying any longer I’d recommend somewhere bigger and warmer with a better menu.

My wife/friends and I are regular visitors to the Snug. Why? Well, other than the practical reason that we live in Hailsham, the answer is a simple We enjoy being there. Why, again? The choices of food and drink are plentiful; the quality of both food and drink is very good; the prices are most reasonable. That's all well and good, but what really keeps us returning to the place is the warmth of the welcome we receive, and the all-round high level of service. By "high level" I mean that the staff (Namecheck to Chi, Evie and Cheryl, who have looked after us so well in recent weeks. Apologies to others whom I am not naming here.) are unfailingly affable, good-natured, helpful and, in the best of ways, really efficient. So, there you have it - consistently satisfied, and happy, customers. Long live the The Snug!

My pal and I are weekly regulars in the snug, and I often call in with my wife, so I feel I can comment fully on the "Snug Experience"! The food/drinks menu is commendably varied, the quality of both aspects is uniformly good, and the prices very reasonable. What sets the Snug apart, we feel, are the Service and Atmosphere elements, to use two of the categories suggested above, which are excellent. The staff, to a person, are cheerful, friendly, helpful and obliging. This, in turn, helps foster a relaxed, welcoming, thoroughly agreeable atmosphere. Recently, Chi, Evie and Cheryl have been to the fore in looking after us. Apologies for not mentioning by name any of their colleagues who have also been part of the welcome we always receive. Recommended unreservedly!

A super place - it is bigger than you think when you enter! Large garden with tables and chairs - great to have chairs with backs in the garden and not picnic benches! Coffee was tasty and cakes were delicious, including gluten free. Friendly staff. Free parking nearby. Definitely will be back!

We ordered decaf cappuccinos and baked potatoes with cheese and onion. The coffee was very good and the potatoes tasty, they came with salad. There were also some lovely cakes on the counter. I would recommend this cafe for coffee, lunch. The staff were friendly and the cafe was very clean.

Great little place for coffee and food

Nipped in here for a quick drink and ended up having something to eat as well. Nice clean modern decoration inside and comfortable chairs too. Polite and friendly staff at you'd how to expect. The expresso was still yet the best I've ever had & my wife loved her special hour chocolate. It's a small cafe but there is plenty on the menu with competitive prices. One of the tables is hidden in a corner just like a wee Snug. My fishfinger sandwich was delicious & I didn't expect a side salad & so was the toasted tuna mayo. Definitely worth a visit, be aware it fills up quickly at lunchtime. Highly recommended. 👍🙂 31st Aug. PM. popped in for a wee double expesso, place was empty but the staff were as friendly as ever and very busy cleaning the place top to bottom. During better weather you can sit out side the back in the garden.

My wife and I have used the Snug a few times now and this weekend (Saturday) we met up with friends for a late breakfast. One of my friends is vegetarian. Disappointed is an understatement to find nothing on the menu for vegetarians. They did manage to to cobble something up. But I'm surprised that they don't have a proper offering as the wider social picture of people's diets now includes Vegetarians and Vegans. We now have plans to meet at another venue for our next get together which does have a suitable menu.

Lovely coffee shop serving great coffees. Have only had tea cakes and sausage sandwiches but both were good. Really clean, with comfy tables and chairs. Staff are very friendly and we have enjoyed both our visits here. Dog friendly too.

Staff are really lovely and always happy to help. Food is simple, nice and well priced. The food was a little slow coming out but they were very busy at the time and I had a grumpy, hungry toddler so that probably made the wait seem longer.

Used the snug quite often to meet friends normally ok. But didn't have a good day today as spoken to rudely over what table I was allowed to sit at , so feeling quite upset about it.

Such a lovely friendly cafe, would probably say one of the best if not best in Hailsham. Food is delicious and very well priced and staff are always smiley and welcoming. Love the fact they cater for gluten free people and they also make a mean mocha with soya milk. Highly recommend.

This is just the best little coffee shop by miles. The service is always top drawer with many customers on first name terms. The food is quality with lovely door step toast on offer along with fabulous cheese scones and cake to die for. Excellent selection of teas and all of it very reasonably priced. There's a lovely little garden area out back and great place for relaxed meetings.

Popped in for a quick cuppa on a Friday afternoon, friendly and welcoming staff. Rocky road had just been made, it was absolutely gorgeous, could have eaten a second piece!

This place is a small but cozy little location fora small friend get together or a family breakfast or lunch. I go here lots and the food is really good. I would recommend the Sausage sandwich. There are massive and so worth what they cost. An great place to go for lots of people. They even sell hot drinks like tea and coffee

Nice to have an independent coffee shop as an option for Hailsham. Unfortunately the coffee was very average. Ordered a flat white, the milk was far too hot and burnt the coffee, and the milk was textured like a cappuccino (As you can see in my picture), little care was taken over the milk whilst the ‘barista’ left the milk to wipe the worktops down. A good barista would not leave the milk as it takes skill to make the correct texture for a flat white. The place appeared clean and tidy and was fairly busy, and I can’t comment on the food, although the little biscuit with my coffee was a nice touch. Unfortunately if you are a real coffee drinker and appreciate a well made coffee by professional barista I would avoid The Snug.If you want a quick coffee in a nice clean good atmosphere and aren’t too fussy about having a good quality well made coffee then pop in and see for yourself. The food coming out did look nice!

Fantastic place! Delicious food and perfect coffee. The place is cosy and the staff very friendly, the atmosphere was lovely and welcoming especially on a winter's day. They've clearly worked hard and paid a lot of attention to detail in the decor, and the bathrooms are pristine. Will definitely come again :)

Very nice & comfortable but a big shortage on cakes & variety. Not a great deal of choice.

I reviewed this cafe and coffee restaurant when it first opened a couple of years ago giving it 5 stars and positive review having had a good diner experience at the time unfortunately it has obviously gone down hill rapidly! Not sure if change of ownership recently ? However poached egg on toast was way beyond the chef's cooking capability it was awful.. staff all over the shop very hectic and unorganised tables dirty not cleaned or cleared very often our flat white coffee order was served as americano generally a poor effort alround needs some serious management changes and overhaul sadly....neil winstone sevenoaks kent

Great to have a lovely independent cafe in Hailsham High Sreet. Been here a couple of times now for lunch and just a hot drink. Nice and clean, good choice of hot and cold food, friendly staff, plenty of tables and reasonably priced! Not much more to say but give this place a go! Great spicy parsnip soup which I’d recommend!

Been coming here for some months and much prefer it to the other establishments in Hailsham. Quality coffee and food. Modern inside and very clean. Lovely staff who always make us feel welcome, including our dog!
