Wow we hadn't been to the Hare & Hounds for a few years & our friends had booked it for dinner & we had a great evening, the staff were excellent & attentive, the food was very tasty & at reasonable prices. The whole ambience was lovely. I wish there were more pubs like it. We will definitely be back. Troy & Naomie

Consistent, reliable, and open when they say they are open. Add to that good food, great service and friendly faces and you have a local neighborhood hotspot all can enjoy.

This is a very lovely restaurant. Excellent food, truly excellent. My partner had the whole fried flounder, and it was perfectly cooked. I got the chicken livers. Not everyone is a fan of liver, but I am. It was a very large serving, and I ordered the half serving. They were absolutely wonderful. Reheated well, too. The oysters and the fried green tomatoes were equally as delicious. My only negative takeaway is that our server mentioned the amount of food ordered, eaten, and boxed for leftovers. It was every time she came to the table. When we are on vacation, we indulge at really good restaurants. It was quite off-putting, and in the end, it just became insulting. That said, I recommend this restaurant full heartedly. It is quite a gem.

Always the most delicious food and the nicest waitresses

During the power outage me and my wife saw that they had power and got excited at the idea of having a good meal. Walked up to the hostess and asked where we could put in a to go order because we were hot and smelly. She told me they stopped taking to go orders because it was overloading their system. I can understand that but what I can’t understand is why couldn’t they grab a pen or pencil and take our order the old fashioned way. They did nothing to help their community community. They saw a chance to make money when know one else could. They saw dollars instead of desperation.

It's not what it used to be . Food has really fell off in the last year. Still has loads of people with waiting list . My last 3 visits have not been the same .

This place is a Gem!!!! The whole vibe of this cute little restaurant is just awesome. Service was prompt, courteous and sweet. We got all our food so quickly, with great taste and presentation!! Drinks were refilled, we even got fresh Popcorn!! We sat right by the nostalgic machine, with fresh smell of popcorn 🍿😋 It was great. We had Fried Cheesecake for desert and it was absolutely delicious!! Downtown Landrum is just a special place and my sister and I just loved eating here. We each had drinks, appetizer, great dinners, and dessert and our bill was just over $100!! Fantastic, especially with the amazing service. We will definitely be back!! Thank you for such a great meal!

Update: After about five years of going here, we had our first issue with the kitchen on 10/04/24. I ordered a hamburger med/well, but when it came out, it looked like a "raw" order (you know- put it on grill-flip it once- and it's done). I hate raw meat (and it's dangerous). I lost my appetite after one bite. It's saying a lot that, after five years, that was the first kitchen issue (we have had problems with slow or inaccurate service before, but never the kitchen). I just hopr it's not a sign of things to come.

Perfect for our lunch with friends. Although it was busy and preparations were going on for a wedding party we were looked after very well. Food was lovely and we were all happy with our choices. Atmosphere was great.

Always good food and one of our regular spots! La’Rae is the best and she always takes great care of us when we visit. Highly recommended.

UPDATE SEPTEMBER 2024: Came AGAIN to give this place another chance after being encouraged to do so given my sour previous experiences. This will be the LAST TIME I ever stop here. The entire evening was a mess. Arrived with 6, after being walked to one table, realizing it wasn't clean yet, & waiting for it to be cleaned, we finally were sat. Our server (Josh) was the ONLY good part of this day. Food arrived, my pot pie was cold, my wifes vodka soda was AGAIN so strong we split it. ( 1.5oz.. is a jigger just not used here) everything fried was super greasy, and waiting times on food were unlike any before. I don't understand why this place is so busy. 3 trips in one year, each worse than the previous. You had a great place once, hate to see a place running off pure history/legacy yet autopiloting it right off a cliff. Over crowded & understaffed. Joined for dinner a couple of weeks ago. It was a disaster, to say the least. Our server was an older woman with glasses. She was frazzled, all over the place, and downright unorganized. Also, our table was right beside the "computers." We enjoyed our evening listening to servers gossip about all the diners. The food was greasy, & nothing special. Came back recently and decided, "Let's try upstairs for a change." HUGE MISTAKE! The bartender "Helen" I believe was abysmal. She poured my wife a SEVEN count vodka & soda that we both worked on because it was so strong. Service AGAIN was a letdown. With only 4 bar guests and 2 tables, she seemed overwhelmed the entire time. Forgetting this & that, I asked for a ceaser, and she gave me a house with a ranch? Likely won't return anytime soon. Seems to have taken a down turn as of recently.

Had the Fish sandwich special with onion straws. Fish was thin and disappointing. Both fish and onion straws were overcooked. Service and atmosphere was nice.

We ate there on Saturday night and it was hopping!! Ordered all apps for a fun light dinner. One of our choices were the Teriyaki wings. After eating 2 my lips were burning, my husband loved them but they were way too hot for me, not at all what I would have expected. I mentioned it to our waiter who minutes later had summoned a Manager. He brought us out another whole order with the sauce on the side! Amazing customer service and so sweet about it. Even brought me a cup of the clam chowder which I am ruined for eating that anywhere else since it was amazing! I do believe that they had made an honest mistake and served us wings with hot sauce on them and just dumped some teriyaki on top but they more than made up for it with style and grace considering I didn’t even complain just mentioned they were hot. Would recommend with all my heart!

A lovely meal tonight for our anniversary and excellent value for money. My husband had the steak and kidney pie which was huge (the best he has ever had) and I had the pork belly. Both were super yummy with veg and dauphinoise potatoes. We followed our mains up with cheese and biscuits (a really substantial size) and chocolate fudge cake and ice cream (huge). Coffee was served in a cafetiere - nice touch. We will certainly be back.

It's always crowded and loud. The food is good, but not great, and the wait staff can barely get through small spaces and crammed seating. But right now it's the only restaurant in downtown Landrum where you can walk to all the shops.

First of all it was literally 8:30 at night and they close in 30 minutes, but everything else decent around was closed. I didn't wanna be that guy and order last minute, but they said they'd still take my order. I got the Hare and Hound club sandwich and my wife a hamburger. Man I tell you I took my first bite of my sandwich and it was DELICIOUS. Place NEVER disappoints. I personally favor the Cheeseburger with the Onion chips and bbq sauce. It's AMAZINGGGGGGGG. I'm saying this is a appreciation review and in general as well. The restaurant definitely gives off an welcoming, awesome atmosphere. Very classy and the servers are always fast and accurate. My favorite place in town as far as best food around. Love you guys and appreciate you for all that you do 🤘

What a great find! The food was delicious and the service was excellent! The outside seating area and inside bar is cozy and both are great areas to soak up the atmosphere. Highly recommended if you’re in the Upstate area.

Extremely busy today because of the holiday, but I was welcomed promptly and politely...sat at the bar and received excellent service from Hellen. More importantly, all the staff maintained professional composure, helped each other and worked as a team. As an old food and beverage professional, I would have been pleased to work with such a crew.

Food always great! Dog friendly out on the patio. Water for the dog, she loved the attentionand popcorn..but had a problem with flies.. Will still go out on the patio if it means my dog can be with me.

The atmosphere is intriguing. A perfect balance of small town cafe, and euro pub. It's cozy. The food was good. Though the hot ham and cheese was missing something, I'm just not sure what. It was almost a great sandwich. The Sheppards pie was delicious. A bit more beef stew than Shepherds pie, but delicious all the same. It was a bit robust in flavor, so I'd definitely recommend a red wine to pair with it. This was my second time going and I really enjoyed it. It's the perfect day trip for lunch or dinner. The staff is friendly, adding to the warmth of the place. Service was prompt and efficient.

Looking at the last review we were a bit hesitating to eat here, but we gave it a try. On a Tuesday-evening the place is full with largely local people, which says a lot. We had a vegetable fajita and a pulled porc macaroni and both were delicious. The service is quick and friendly. I can't find any reason why we should not recommend the Hare & Hounds.

The service was outstanding. Our waitress, Mary was enthusiastic, polite, professional, and extremely helpful. The food was absolutely amazing. However, the morning greater was wonderful and friendly but the afternoon greater was nasty and unfriendly. PS my aunt was unpleasantly surprised when she opened the door of the women restroom to find a naked man wiping his butt out in the open. She is very traumatized and scared to go into anymore public restrooms.

Get the ribs. The meat falls right off the bone and tastes great. Live outside entertainment. The prices were very good. Oops, maybe I shouldn't have told anyone. Oh, well.

Great place. Teriyaki Bourbon chicken is fantastic and so is the BLT.

Oh dear, a lovely quintessential old pub in a beautiful village, loved the ambience and the pub has so much potential but the food unfortunately was awful. Overcooked salmon with peeled vegetables from the 80s that were so over boiled they fell apart and were super mushy, with dauphonoise potato that clung to the pot it was served in with no sauce. The other meal was an overcooked vegetable tart that was so hard round the edges. Needless to say we weren't asked at any point if we enjoyed our food, it was clear the meals weren't made with any love and we left very quickly. Would go back for drinks and the music nights look fun but stay well clear of the food.

Absolutely phenomenal food and service (Mary is THE BEST!). Great location with convenient street parking on the side of the restaurant.

Just had a lovely evening meal here. My hubby had their steak and Guinness pie. I had the smoked salmon and prawn salad. Both meals were lovely. Great friendly staff. All in all a lovely experience. Never fails

First time there. Really enjoyable experience. Sat outside and enjoyed the music. Ben, our server, was on point for the entire visit. Food was great. The calamari come with a Thai dipping sauce that made it. We had the reuben and the pilgrim. Both were excellent. Gonna go back!

Look, this place is a good outing. Food is very good. Service very good as well. The drinks are not worth the price. For example bloody Mary is a small glass FULL of ice and a single olive and slice of lime. Same with mixed drinks. Tables chairs and overall place needs to be cleaner as well.

Wife is gluten-free so usually can only order twice baked potato - would be nice if they had chives, but all else is great.

My Family and I ate here for the first time today. The staff is friendly and our waitress Mary was wonderful! Always smiling, kept our beverages full without us having to ask for a refill. The food is really good! They even serve popcorn, I've never been to a restaurant that offers that and I love it! The cheeseburger/fries are yummy! My Momma ordered the fish and chips and she liked it. My Husband enjoyed his wrap/potato salad. My only complaint really is that the women's bathroom is dirty. Urine all over toilet seat and floor. Toilet paper scattered all over the floor.

We had a waitress named Mary. She was great. My husband had the Reuben sandwich. I had mushroom and Swiss burger. Both very good. Will be back. The onion rings were great.

My wife got the quiche and loved it. I had a cheeseburger with fries and it was good. I would have liked a little more flavor in the burger but it was still good. The highlight was the server, Ben!! Friendly and gave excellent service. We will definitely be back.

Josh was an amazing host/waiter! He did a super job. He even offered us to-go cups and made great recommendations for food. We took 2 dinners to go, but ate amazing desserts right there! Great staff, great food, great ambiance! Can’t get any better.

Great little place for a quick lunch.

This is an outstanding establishment that is a short drive from Greer. The service and staff are dialed in to make meals great. We've had brunch, lunch, and dinners here and have never been disappointed.

Popular place. Gluten free potato skins were put in fryer so I couldn’t eat them. It was disappointing.

Our waiter, Darryl, was fantastic. Friendly, attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu. He recommended a dessert that was really good. The downside, my meal which was meatloaf was warm but not hot. It may have sat for a while before being served. My wife’s fish came out nicely hot. I can see it being difficult to get all plates out at the same time if there is a large party When it is only two of us, I am a bit disappointed. I will go back, however.

As a local I have visited here off & on since they first opened. It can be a hit or miss depending on the staffing and how busy they are. I avoid going there on the weekends.

We visited on a sunny Wednesday evening in June and had lovely dinner in the pub garden. Nice setting under cover, with plenty of seats. I ordered the tart, which was delicious and came with crispy pub chips and a big salad. My friend ordered the goat’s cheese salad, which was very tasty, came with fresh bread and was also a generous portion. Staff was very helpful & attentive when we had quite a few questions - not having been to the pub and area before. Towards the end of the evening we moved in side for a drink on one of the comfortable sofas. It would be lovely to go back in autumn/winter for another nice meal with the wood fire going.

We have been going to Hare & Hound since our move to SC in 1995! We take family and friends there all the time! The menu has something for everyone. Always been fabulous!

My family and I randomly selected this restaurant as we headed back to Tennessee from SC, and I’m so so glad we did! Talk about hidden gem. Everything about this place is wonderful; the location, the patio under the trees, the service at every step, and the FOOD. Our server, Josh B, really made the experience that much more enjoyable. He was on top of his game when it came to refilling drinks, recommending things on the menu, and making us feel welcome and at home. Next time we drive through SC, we will 100% be coming back!

Absolutely fantastic spot - our family was on a road trip, and what was supposed to be a quick pit stop turned into a trip highlight. The Guinness pot pie was incredible, truly some of the best food I had on the trip, and Joshua our server was friendly, kind, and made the experience even better. The patio tucked into the trees around the restaurant was awesome. If you have a chance to go here, absolutely don't miss it!

Lunch on Friday was in Landrum, SC at the Hare and Hound. I met some older young ladies for lunch with my sister and two of her grandchildren. I met these ladies many years ago when my mother was still living, they were her friends, and they became really good friends with me. The Hare and Hound had been our next lunch destination, since our last luncheon date last year. It was a nice day with a nice breeze in the in the shade. There is outdoor seating, and a gentleman playing some really nice jazz on his guitar. We decided to eat inside, there is mostly booth seating and only one bathroom(only one person can use it). A problem with a restaurant of that size, and the number of people that dine there. Even with the restroom door locked some one was constantly knocking on the door the entire time it took me to use the restroom. Usually a locked door means someone is in there. The atmosphere was nice, but a little noisy. Our waiter was very attentive and checked on us periodically, and kept our drinks refilled. The menu has a good variety of appetizers, soups, salads, pub favorites and desserts to choose from. I decided to get the chicken quesadilla and lemonade to drink. The lemonade was tart pink lemonade, not really sweet after adding some Splenda was much better. We didn’t have a long wait for our food. The chicken quesadilla comes with three scoops one each of salsa, sour cream and guacamole. The quesadilla was only ok to me, one tortilla cut into four pieces. It had pieces of grilled chicken breast with some tender and tough pieces of chicken, onions and melted cheese. If you order this,don’t carry it out, it is not good cold or reheated it was only warm when it was served. For dessert I got the fried cheesecake, it too was only ok to me. I’m not exactly sure what the cheesecake mixture was wrapped in, but it was similar to a fried tortilla with caramel sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream and whipped topping a dusting of powdered sugar. The caramel sauce, the ice cream and cheesecake filling was good, but that fried wrap was tough to cut into and chew. A wasted $8.00 and some change for that dessert. The total of my bill for me and my twelve year old niece was $44.64, kind of expensive not to have enjoyed my meal. I did enjoy spending time with my friends and family, and would ask that you give The Hare and Hound a try. I would again, just to try some thing else on their menu.

This is the place to take a date or go by yourself. Everyone treats you like they've known you all your life. Everything about this place is special, so be prepared to wait. But it's so laid back and relaxed. Please don't mess it up for the rest of us. LOL This is one of my favorite places to go too. I've traveled a bunch, and like the rest of us, we love good vettles, with pleasant smiles, great service, and to die fur awesome deserts. Superb

I always stop here when on the road for business. eat at the bar. I am addicted to their New England clam chowder. Absolutely delicious. Everyone is very friendly.

We always have good food and very good service here. It's crowded, but that's part the atmosphere.

We sat inside and the seating in a booth was VERY crowded. Food was good, but being a very short person faced with a table almost at chin level it was hard to eat comfortably. Next time we will eat outside.

Tried this place out for the first time about 3 weeks ago. They were busy, but our waitress was great and very attentive. I had the bbq bacon onion burger and it was delicious! It was so good, I had to go back last week to get another one!

The fried chicken livers are delicious, as are the chef and wedge salads!

Awesome food, awesome service, and I've never left there hungry.

This is the first time I have ever been disappointed. My Caesar Salad was VERY brown around the edges on most of the leaves. I picked through it and left those very brown pieces. I pray I don't get sick from what I did eat. Really out of character for The Hare and Hound.

We love to drive down the mountain for lunch or dinner at the Hare and Hound. The atmosphere is great. It reminds me of a family restaurant with first class food. We do wish that some of the dinner menu items were available at lunch.

Drove two hours for lunch! It was worth the trip. The food was great and the service was exceptional!

Exceptional service for our party of 16! Hands down the best Ribeye cooked to perfection. I ordered as “medium” and it was perfect, not bloody, was super moist with a lot of flavor.

This is one of our newest, favorite date night spots. For us, it is a bit of a drive, so worth it!! The food is just phenomenal!! Always make a reservation, if you want right in, otherwise you could wait a good hour or two. We have gone and the line is out the door and around the corner. It is that good its worth the wait. The prices are surprisingly good compared to most popular restaurants. You can go dressy, or dressed down. Its kinda like a sports club as well. There is a bar with a huge selection of adult beverages. We do not drink so cannot speak to taste, sorry. The staff are so friendly, talk to you like they see you there all the time. We feel very comfortable there. Highly recommend. Will return again and again.

What a fantastic local place to have food. You can find so many delicious options in their menu that it takes a while to make up your mind and select what is going to make you happy. We waited for a bit because we wanted a table inside since it looked like rain was coming and it didn't take more than 10 minutes to be seated. The service was great! Suggestions were greatly appreciated and satisfied out appetite greatly. Definitely not place to visit in the near future when in the area.

Made a reservation, Friday at 7pm for 7 people. Got the confirmed text after making the reservation. STILL waited an hour. Had to tell the hostess to get the manager, only to be met with “Well, we have a table outside.” Absolutely horrible first experience. All for bland and mediocre food.

We made a reservation for tonight (mothers day). Yes, we (party of 2) knew it was going to be abnormally busy, but with a reservation we thought it would mitigate wait times. We showed up 10 minutes early for check in, waiting nearly 25 minutes after our reservation time to get seated. Once seated our server, Josh, greeted and took great care of us throughout our visit. Making sure drinks were never empty and bellys got full. Even gave us suggestions on the menu as it was our first time visiting The Hare and the Hound. Drinks came out phenomenal (bar mixed drinks). Food was delivered, almost cold to the touch. Ribeye and Kentucky bourbon chicken had hardly any flavor. Both were subpar. Steak sauce saved the steak and pineapple served with the chicken was its savior. Mashed potatoes were bland with zero seasoning, along with the baked potato. Desert was served and was fantastic! We have decided maybe it was because how busy they were, so we will try again on a non-holiday and a less busy time frame. Drinks, desert, appetizers 20/10. Dinner 3/10.
