Another lovely breakfast at Bucklers, we go fairly regularly because the service and food are great and it has a really friendly atmosphere. Might be worth booking at the weekend.

Eaten here twice in the last 10 days. Great service, prompt and non obtrusive plus the staff are really smiley! Food is delicious, well presented and of a good quality Plus their coffee is excellent. Lovely crockery and tableware makes this feel more than your average cafe. Clearly a very popular place, as on both occasions it was packed with customers. This is my new favourite Hailsham breakfast, brunch or lunch venue!

Enjoyed the vibrant and comfortable atmosphere. Nice menu with everything classic you’d expect in a good café as well as lots of more special ingredients. The dishes had high-quality produce and good portions while also being reasonably priced, so great value for what you get. Service from all the staff was natural warm and friendly. Themed evening menu, cocktails and atmosphere looks really good too which I would like to try as it a fun vibrant place to go.

Very busy and noisy on a Saturday morning and because of that service is not brilliant - coffee spilt in saucer and no attempt to clean it or apologise - not impressed.

Melvyn (the manager) managed to get us in even though they were really busy, I’m so glad he did. The chorizo hash was amazing, I really enjoyed it as did my fiancée. The whole atmosphere is great, a welcoming environment that is a step up from a normal cafe setting. It has vibes of sophistication but not pretentious, also great value for money. Quality food, in a nice atmosphere all at sensible pricing. Will definitely recommend BUT make sure you book as they are busy.

Been here for the same food a couple of times over the last 2 weeks, today their prices have increased by 20% quite a lot I think and hadn’t seen any mention of it beforehand. I know everything has gone up but maybe 10% would seem fair.

Bucklers is my regular place for coffee and cake, which is always good. When I go for breakfast or brunch, I like the Quesadillas or the Chirizo Hash, both are delicious. But having had most items on the menu, everything is delish. Melvyn and the team are great at what they do, service is great.

The last time we went to Bucklers was in 2019 pre COVID and we were so pleased to find it was still trading. Our memory was of a lovely, friendly cafe with super food. I'm happy to report that Bucklers was as good as we remembered. Great atmosphere, lovely staff and great food. Its a little gem - well done the Bucklers tesm😊

Cafe was full but not busy; it was well staffed and there were no takeaway orders. Walked in and a table was cleared for us so we could sit down and we were told someone would come and take our order. We waited 20 mins, no one came to take our order; meanwhile a group of 5 turned up, sat down, had their order taken and received their order. We ended up ordering at the counter because the wait was taking too long. It took a further 10 mins for our drinks to arrive. The server brought them over then proceeded to take all the cutlery away, then bring it back moments later which was just strange. The drinks were actually really nice it’s just a shame the service was so poor. No apology was offered for poor service either.

Just had a quiet lunch here with my daughters and 18 month grandson. The food was excellent. My baked potato with tuna mayonnaise and cheese, with salad - was large and very tasty. My daughters' vegetarian choice was excellent too and they were able to accommodate my daughter who asked for a substitute item in her dish. Very good value and I should certainly recommend this restaurant.

This cafe is wonderful. I only ordered a BLT sandwich and coffee but it was really special with lovely trimmings and service is great.

Had breakfast this morning, great quality produce. Their breakfast quesadillas are great. Very nice coffee too.

Used Bucklers catering company for my parents birthday 5 th August 2023 and wow can't fault them at all. Food was absolutely fantastic the service was 10/10 will definitely use again Matt the chef was brilliant can't fault the food well done

Our whole experience at this cafe could have been so much different if one simple change was implemented and all ingredients included on the menu. The cafe is fairly smartly laid out and looks nice inside. We sat at a table and looked at the drinks menu. We couldn't find a food menu, so I went to the counter and was told by the young lady that she would bring some over. In returning to the table, we noticed that it required cleaning. The same young lady came over in a very uninterested, laxidasical manner. We asked if the table could be cleaned, which was met with a sigh of inconvenience. The young lady returned, sprayed the table a few times and then in a lacklustre manner wiped a few circular motions on the table in a way which would indicate that the table was very delicate or that she didn't want to hurt it as there was a significant lack of effort or elbow grease. We ordered drinks only for the young lady to return and inform us that they were out of peppermint tea. As my wife always carries tea bags in her handbag I asked for hot water. We waited quite a while for our food to arrive and to be fair it was nicely presented. My wife's wrap was warm which she was pleased with, but on taking the first bite quickly established that the tuna contained cold sweetcorn. The menu stated tuna, green leaves and mayo - no mention of sweetcorn. Any fellow sweetcorn disliker will know how awful the taste of cold sweetcorn is in tuna. Surely in today's world of food allergies etc, all ingredients should be listed on a menu? My wife called over a lady who may have been the manager or owner. We explained that the sweetcorn wasn't mentioned on the menu, and my wife was offered the chance to order something different or they could check to see if a tuna wrap without sweetcorn could be made. There was no real acknowledgement of the fact that this was excluded from the menu. My wife asked for a tuna wrap. I had ordered eggs benedict which was well presented, and was pleasant enough. Not the best eggs benedict that I've ever had, but not the worse. I had finished my meal and my wife was still waiting for her new wrap to arrive. At this time I decided to move our car as the one hour parking was coming to an end and we had been in the cafe for around 40 minutes. On returning to the cafe my wife's wrap had arrived. There was no apology for the wait. This time the wrap was cold and there was no mayo in the wrap. On biting into the wrap a significant amount of water poured from it hitting the plate, bouncing of the table and splashing all down my wife's new top. At this point my wife wasn't the happiest of people and ate very little of the wrap. After using the bathroom, which to be fair has the nice touch of having complimentary female hygiene products and baby wipes/nappies, we decided to leave. At no point during our time at the cafe were we asked if everything was ok, and this was the same when we went to the counter to pay. The young uninterested lady was at the till. I said to her that it maybe worth advising the kitchen staff to drain tuna in future to ensure that the water didn't splash all over customers clothes and was met with a blank look of bemusement. I paid the bill and we left. It wasn't until later that I realised that a hot chocolate and bottle of water either costs £6.70 or I was charged for the peppermint tea that I didn't have. Additionally the stain has not come out of my wife's new top so that is another wasted £20.00. The strange thing is that the atmosphere in the cafe was very flat, the staff uninterested and there is more life in a cemetery. However, the choice of music being played was the total opposite - Creep by Radiohead, which if you know the lyrics you'll totally understand the amazement that it was being played in this sort of establishment, and Smells Like Teen Spirit by Nirvana, again a surprising choice. Just imagine how different our experience could have been if the menu had mentioned the fact that the tuna contained sweetcorn. I think we could have put up with the uninterested staff and waiting times, but the whole sweetcorngate issue and ruined top would certainly put us off going back. However, offering to replace my wife's ruined top would be a welcome gesture, but then they would have known about the issue if the staff had shown some interest and asked us how things were. All in all a very strange experience, some good points totally let down by staff attitude and lack of interest.

1st timers, absolutely loved it, food was gorgeous, staff very friendly, lovely ambience, definately be back to try more food.

The chef on location was AMAZING and created some delicious food for our crew. Communication was slow sometimes, but all in all a lovely catering company!

Catering By Bucklers was better than we could ever have imagined for our 60th Wedding Anniversary. They thought of everything to make our day really special and anyone who uses them will be completely delighted with the excellent food and efficient service.

Went to family wedding last weekend. These caterers were outstanding. The canapés were inventive and extremely tasty and moorish! They had guests following them around for more of the bite size morsels. The buffet itself was very varied with a very large choice of dishes. Ranging from a big GF section which also included so many choices but the pork pie, perfect scotch eggs & and lemon tart and macaroons were amongst my favourites. I recommend this company for their obvious imagination and dedication in cooking, preparing and displaying the food in such an impressive way.

Catering by Bucklers came highly recommended to me by the venue I had chosen for my husband's 40th birthday party. They did not disappoint! Charlotte and her team were an absolute pleasure to deal with throughout. They were always easy to get hold of and responded to my queries quickly and effectively. There aren't enough words really to describe just how delicious the buffet was that they served us. The menu choice was extensive and they were happy to take account of dietary needs and were very diligent about making sure we knew which plates were for those with dietary needs. Excellent value for money, and so many of the guests commented on the lovely spread and how beautifully it had been presented. Thank you for making our event such a success. I am so grateful and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend your services in the future. I look forward to the next opportunity when I can sample your delightful food again!

Had lunch with some friends and our babies, the service is always great and food delicious. Plenty of choice on the menu, every dish sounds tasty so it’s difficult to decide what to eat! The chai latte was lovely and I selected the avocado dish for my lunch with some extra bacon. Relaxed spot to eat, super friendly and we always feel welcome. Brilliant changing facilities for our little ones and they go the extra mile by offering some nappies (and other hygiene products) if for any reason you have baby brain and forget them. Look forward to returning.

Service was slow breakfast was cold, I asked for well cooked tomatoes and they were raw and hard,it was a family birthday breakfast so did not complain. Other members of the party also thought the breakfast was cold and not good value for money Would I go back NO

I recently arranged a celebration of which Catering by Bucklers organised all of the food and drinks for the event. To say they went above and beyond would be an understatement. Charlotte and the team were nothing but courteous and professional throughout, nothing was too much trouble. The food prepared was fantastic, freshly cooked and exactly what was wanted. The drinks bar was fantastic and the selection of drinks was more than what was needed. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend anyone to use them and have already passed on their details to friends and family.

First visit today and very impressed...good and quick service and lovely food, both had the 'not so full' which was delicious. Will definitely return.

Went in today, when I entered was very quiet, ordered soup and a coke, sat and waited, three other groups /people came in after me, in the 20mins I sat there two of them were served with drinks and full plates of food. I then had to leave and explained to the man on the til that I don't have long for lunch and had to go, I got a filthy look from him, which prompted me to say I have watched you serving everyone else and have no problem waiting my turn. His answer was the soup was taking a long time to heat up today! Really I don't think so, I would've preferred a bit of honesty which would've been I'd been forgotten. Discovered this place by accident on a trip to Hailsham. Good food. Good ambiance. Will be returning if I'm in Hailsham again. Well worth a visit.

The food is very special. Wonderful flavours, very fresh and some pleasantly different dishes. Usual cafe food if you want it but so much more as well. Staff always lovely. It can feel a tiny bit cramped but that's just me being picky. W we

Enjoy eating here - always busy so maybe book a table if you don’t like waiting. Seats inside and outside. Menu is good and we enjoyed our brunch. Lovely mushrooms on toast and a sweet potato rosti avocado dish. (See photos). Coffee is tasty too. Service is good although can feel a little laid back but that was ok with us as we had time. So not an issue for us but if you are short of time be aware. Shame gluten free blueberry pancakes have been taken off the menu - Miss those!! Hope they can come back. Enjoy eating here and will be back.

We waited ages for two simple drinks. We then waited even longer for two breakfasts. No apology was made for the wait so I guess it's normal for food to take that long to come out. When it finally arrived it was very disappointing. Nothing bad enough to complain about at the time - just mediocre food you'd expect from a cheap pub. Hard to get a server's attention too. Not a great experience and will not be returning.

I walked in and the only free table was pointed out to me by a young waiter (who seemed to be doing everything), since the other tables were reserved. I sat for 15 minutes and the young girls were too busy chatting and drinking coke to serve me. I really don't think it's my place as a customer to ask for a menu or ask to be served. As three young guys came in and sat down at a reserved table, they were served straight away. I decided to leave, by which time some other people walked in and were being dealt with by someone who seemed to be the owner. No-one seemed to bother that someone was walking out "without paying". If I could have given zero stars, I would have done. Next time I'll go to Costas and forget patronising local businesses....... well, that one at least.

The Big Bucklers Breakfast was Bangin'!! I can easily judge a breakfast on the size of their baked bean portion. This did not disappoint. Local sausages and bacon, I swapped the black pudding for extra beans and I reckon there was at least half a tin in a good sized pot. Excellent.

Wow what a full English breakfast.. quite possibly the ‘BEST’ fry up I’ve ever had? Nice atmosphere ‘cafe’, really friendly staff, fantastic quality ingredients and plenty of grub.. if I could have given it 10 ********** then I would.. can’t wait to revisit and might even drive the 2 hours from my home and back for another fry up.. Well done A+

I always try and use local businesses; I would rather give them my money than the big corporates. My mum and I having been going in every week for the last few months mainly for coffee but we have also had breakfast there; as I always say every penny is a prisoner. The atmosphere, coffee and food was always good. However in the last few weeks it has changed, not such a genuine friendliness, plus the music and staff chatting has got louder. This morning we had our coffee as usual and then decided to have breakfast. The waitress took our order and wrote it down on a pad and we waited..... we suddenly realised that nearly half an hour had elapsed and no sign of the food. When we enquired, yes they had forgotten, apparently the Internet was not working very well and the ticket hadn't printed out in the kitchen; surely if you know there is a problem would you not check to make sure the kitchen had received the order, after all it doesn't take a second also strange that the girl who took the order hadn't noticed us sitting there with no food.... too busy chatting to each other. After another wait we decided to leave, the customer service felt disingenuous; they didn't charge for our coffee but that is the easy way out, they should be actively working towards keeping their loyal customers in this difficult economic climate; there was no genuine sign of this happening, we were just an annoyance to them. I used to own a cafe in Brighton and in all the time that it was running we never had a negative review, our customers were looked after and treated with respect. I only gave a star as it would not let me post without it. I very rarely complain because I don't think it makes much difference however this morning I felt I needed to with the hope that maybe the owner might see that there is a potential problem and it would be sad to see a what was once a great friendly local cafe decline.

Enjoyed our breakfast - gluten free blueberry American pancakes with fruit kebabs ( chose not to have the sauces with it) and avocado on toast with poached eggs. Lots of choice on menu. Tasty coffee and tea served in very unusual teapot. Staff helpful. Seats outside and inside.

Went there fur lunch today, have been before and found the food and service excellent. However today was disappointing. They forgot our drinks and had to be reminded. Also the napkins were all marked and the table clearly hadn't been wiped before the previous guests. Also the ramakin dish was chipped in several places. Won't be rushing back

Front of house, young man was friendly and attentive, the lass with fake lashes and a sassy attitude needs lessons in customer service. Food service extremely slow, food really disappointing, burnt food, watery eggs, chewy tenders, served what was meant to be butter, had liquified after being on a hot pass for so long. Coffee mediocre! Real shame as the menu is extensive and priced reasonably, kitchen seemed overwhelmed for a not busy service. Disappointing.

Awful music- very difficult to have a conversation . Ordered drinks and they took ages to come. Food was very good and I enjoyed my meal. Service slow and just not good. My friends shared my views.

The staff were lovely but the coffee was mediocre and I had probably the worst almond croissant I’ve ever eaten. Bit of a disappointment

Went to Bucklers on Sunday for a 1230 booking to celebrate Father's Day. Unlike Mother's Day this was not deemed worthy of the analogue to the Mother's and Mimosas event... Pleased that we had booked. Other than our table, the café was full. Good atmosphere, nice music in the background. Place is small but nicely decorated. Service was good and the food was excellent. I ordered Tofu hash with extra halloumi and a pot of tea. Food was well presented and was very tasty, nicely spiced. The tea was excellent. Sadly no room for dessert. My first visit, would definitely go again.

Visited this beautiful cafe for lunch with my wife and my step daughter and my Grandson. All of us were made very welcomed by the man who took our order. Food was was excellent decent portions and really tasty. If you are visiting Hailsham please consider visiting this cafe as you won't be disappointed and will be visiting again soon.

Four of us visited Bucklers for a birthday treat. The breakfasts were presented nicely and were really tasty, I particularly liked the vegan sausages. Overall a good experience and I would recommend it.

Truly a great place to eat. Staff were friendly and efficient. The food was excellent, high quality local produce which was very tasty. They do this nice little touch to accompany the meal, which is a small serving of fruit which cleanest the palette after eating. Good value for the high quality. Would highly recommend 😀

Husband and I have been in twice recently. First time was a poor experience . After placing out order (just coffee and cake) we waited a very long time. There was one waitress taking orders- no other staff visible. Eventually several members of staff appeared - apparently they had been having a staff meeting. Why this could not be done before opening I don't know. There were a lot of orders waiting but after complaining we did get our coofee and cake fairly soon and we were not charged for the coffee. The coffee and cake were both good. We decided to give them another try today and sevice was better though for some reason the waitress brought our coffee , then took food to another table then brought our cake. I don't understand why she could not bring both together- how dificult it is to cut a piece of cake? Why not bring both together? . They just don't seem to get it quite right.

Wouldn't expect anything less, just need to get a bigger venue now Melvyn as the place was rammed. Great to see people back supporting local businesses and I met a lovely lady called Sue going through a tough time with a smile on her face. We need you in Heathfield though fir sure... I believe the old Lloyd's bank its up for let.....need a good restaurant with good disabled access in the town.

Went here for breakfast with my boyfriend this morning. I'm new to Hailsham so I've been looking for a small local cafe like this! Breakfast and coffee was lovely! Everything beautifully cooked and tasted great. We will definitely return!

Lovely seasonal lattes and served at perfect drinking temperature! Christmas specials all looked amazing - would definitely recommend!

We absolutely love Bucklers and have been coming since the beginning. However since the very young girls have taken over it’s become beyond irritating. The service is incredible slow. They spend a lot of time chatting amongst themselves flicking the lovely hair and not actually watching what’s happening. I have heard others complain that they have waited more than half an hour for a croissant! I have finally had to go to the counter to place my order after waiting more than 15 mins And then they got that wrong! Very Nice girls but need managing.

Visited today with my daughter and grandaughter age 2yrs 8m, we ordered 2 hot chocolates, my grandaughter asked for a purple drink (blackcurrant fruitshoot) unfortunately they didn't have any. Whilst we were drinking our drinks, the guy from the shop appeared with a pack of "purple drinks" that he had gone and brought specially so that my grandaughter could have one, no charge was made, what exceptional customer service, thank you so much 💜

Amazing lunch here.. couldn’t be happier :) Had a bike ride to this cafe and so happy with the options :) great for a fussy eater as you can build your own breakfast anyway you like The hummus I chose to have as a side on my sourdough toast was INCREDIBLE . Thanks hash browns were delicious 👋 The iced coffee was tastier I swear just because of the stunning glass it was served in :) the staff were wonderfully polite and We had a guest who enjoyed the cheesy chips and beans :) And my partner enjoyed the full English vegan breakfast which he had no problems with at all! Can’t wait to return to be honest!
